I just got my from factory OEM unlocked H860 about 97 seconds ago. What does from factory OEM unlock do for me? I am reading conflicting stories. Some say I can install custom ROMs others say it just let's me access any carrier. The first option does not make sense as I could then copy and upload my ROM for everyone else to use.
Never mind.

can anybody tell me if I will need to re-enter my unlock code on my t-mobile (with an o2 sim at the minute) after I root it and flash a custom rom?
The reason I ask is because I bought the phone unlocked so do not have the unlock code, so dont want to flash a custom rom if its going lock my phone back onto t-mobile!
I was unable to find anything on this subject by searching the forums.
Cheers
No, sim lock status is not affected by ROM flashing.
excellent, many thanks, let the rom flashing commence!
Hi there,
I've recently got a new phone - Xperia Active.
It's locked to a Skinny Mobile Network as the packaging says "This phone will only work with Skinny Sim!". - I bought this from site similar to ebay. The phone is brand new - won in a competition.
http://skinny.co.nz/
I spoke to customer service who told me that it would cost $30 to unlock it but if i am with them for 9 months, it's free.
The questions I had in mind are:
1) Is it safe to flash a custom firmware on a 'locked sim network' phone?
2) What is the steps I have to take to flash a custom firmware i.e. expeacer's muiu or Real ICS ??
3) After 9 months i decide to unlock my phone (sim lock), would anything stuff up i.e if i stick another sim card in, the menu doesn't show up for entering the network unlock code.
Update:
checked my bootloader settings. It says: Unlock bootloader allowed: No

Custom firmware means a combination of custom Rom and custom kernel
1. You can only flash custom Rom's which have support for locked bootloader and I don't think you will get any problem with it (I'll better leave it for someone else to answer because I've never used a network locked phone)
2. As said above you can only flash custom Roms with locked bootloader and you can NEVER FLASH A CUSTOM KERNEL. You cannot use Roms which require their own custom kernel.
3. NO. you can stick up any sim after unlocking your phone with the unlock code your network provider (skinny) gives you . As your network provider said you can purchase the unlock code by paying 30 bucks or wait for nine months and get it from them for free. Either way you need a unlock code to use other sim cards.
and I'm sorry you can never use Roms which require custom kernels even if you have unlocked your network locked phone because your phone says "bootloader unlock allowed:NO" it means you can never use custom Roms like Cyanogenmod or other custom Roms which requires their own kernel to be flashed prior flashing the Rom .
To flash a custom kernel you need a unlocked bootloader and to unlock your bootloader your phone has to say "bootloader unlock allowed:yes" unfortunately yours says NO
EDIT: I learned that you could ask the network provider to change the bootloader status to yes after getting through the prescribed period of 9 months or after paying 30 bucks. After getting it to show 'yes' you can unlock the bootloader and flash custom kernels.
HIT THANKS IF I HAVE HELPED YOU!

Hey XDA,
i want to carrier unlock a locked GT-I9300 i just bought.
If all else fails, i just wanted to know if flashing a whole stock firmware incl. Modem/Bootloader/CSC will get rid of the lock, also?
I read lots and lots about unlocking a 9300 with Android 4.3 here, unfortunately, i am less sure now than before...
got a prepaid SIM today, will see what happens later.
GalaxSim Unlock doesn't work; i doubt the code to enter will.
Is there sth one could do via ADB to get rid of a carrier lock...?
hey everyone. trying to OEM unlock the TWRP bootloader. When I type "fastboot OEM unlock" it will reboot into TWRP bootloader, and nothing unlocks. I know this because when I type "fastboot oem device-info" it says "unlocked FALSE".
I have OEM unlock and USB debugging enabled.
This is a phone with previously successfully installed CM13, and now I'm trying to revert to stock/unrooted. I can't seem to flash the recovery at all here because I can't get the damn thing to unlock.
Any ideas?
Did you lock the bootloader ? If your flashing Roms and custom recoverys imagine its already unlocked. Bootloader won't lock itself. If you want full stock just flash any OS2 firmware with twrp. You can worry about stock recovery after. I would just leave the bootloader unlocked won't hurt anything.
I had the same issue not long ago. Finally, i used the mega unbrick guide, but warning, all the data is lost
Ps: Sorry for bad english
hey, thanks for the response. I have been following the following tutorial (and others similar for installing CM13):
(great, website won't let me post it here... it's the unlockr oneplus x guide)
so yes, I originally flashed the stock recovery and replaced it with the one from the tutorial. There were a few hiccups during setup, which may have affected why I can't easily update nightly now, so now I'm trying to revert to the unrooted stock state so I can try from scratch, hopefully fixing the issues I'm seeing now. The problem is that I can't flash the recovery using the stock recovery... I can't even update the damn recovery because it's locked. Is this what is meant by a 'soft brick' ?
Guys i have unlocked bootloader officially when i flash miui dev mashmallow rom my bootloader got locked again i have unlocked officially now iam on miui 7 now again planning to go to miui mashmallow rom how to prevent bootloader relock
Is it a real hassle to unlock it again? I've had to unlock mine about a dozen times now since flashing certain roms will lock it but it takes me a few minutes at most to do.
How many times in a month can i unlock can i unlock more than once in a month officially
I don't know how many times you can unlock, I definitely unlocked more than once a month though, I've only had the phone since around mid September.
Can anyone confirm that please is there any restriction in unlocking phone number of times in a month
I only had to unlock once and I switch Roms all the time even when using mi flash I select clean all. Make sure clean all and lock is NOT selected
When you switch between mm and lolipop roms it will lock
