pokemon GO performance issues - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

I've been trying to play the game recently and it's been lagging my phone due to it being it in a tablet mode (i THINK)
for other apps i get the tablet mode automatically too is there something other than xposed (since it doesn't work in EMUI) that can switch apps between tablet and mobile modes for specific apps?
Thanks all

Performance is terrible on mine too, running Candy Six ROM. I think the problem is just our phone isn't great.

What's your current dpi? If its 240, then you can try bigger numbers till 320. That may be the factor decides its mode. I know everything will bigger, but at least you can give your game another try.

Edit: Disregard

Thanks, but I haven't changed my dpi so it should already be on the default 320

i think our phones are fine for mobile apps but tablet apps are just too much haha

That's kind of disheartening to hear. Have yet to switch to a higher OS but Pokemon GO is my motivation to working on it. How bad of a lag is it?

There's a paid app which can tweak 3d gl settings called GLtools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaxx-v23Jec
If you're rooted, also the xposed module 'app settings' can change the DPI (I tried this but didn't notice an effect). I'm on CM 12.1 (Lolipop) and sometimes the AR/3D can be laggy at times.

My kids are on b322 and candy 6 without any issues.

Pokemon GO works fine with my GPS on CM12.1 (5.1.1) I did have to disable from Developer Options 'Allow Mock Locations' for GPS to work though. It wouldn't work at all before doing that. Then using GPS Status app to get the ADATA info from internet and get a first fix on the new ROM (upgraded from 4.3) then setting location to 'high accuracy.' After that the game and all the other apps work with GPS now.
Did you try it on other ROMS or have better frame rates with this game on previous android versions?

Oops, I meant to say GPS isn't a problem for me. It doesn't point the right way (off by a few degrees) and jumps around a little bit but it's not a big deal.
And no, I never got to try the game on a different ROM. Do you have good frame rates?

GPS works fine for me. Have you tried calibrating your compass/and pitch and roll (accelerometer)? GPS Status app can help with that. I did have to calibrate my accelerometer since it was off by default but works fine once done.
As for frame rates it's playable now...but it is better with AR off. I'd miss throws with it on since it lags too much when I swipe up to throw the pokeball. The Pokedex is buggy though. Otherwise it works ok.

For myself, frame rate is okay most of the time. Catch mode with AR is very laggy. Sometimes, it even lags with AR off. However, I get menu lag with the Pokemon tab and PokeDex during peak hours pretty much any time during the day. No issue during nighttime play. However, GPS is very inaccurate over here. Sometimes I can't even access PokeStops and Gyms especially if they are in the park. GG, game over. GPS set to high accuracy and game has been given permission. Anyway, any suggestions? Cmod 12.1 here.

Do we still have this setting? "Use Wireless Networks" and "Use GPS Satellites?" I wasn't able to find it.
By the way, for right now, it is working. I redownloaded my area within Google Maps and that seemed to like a lot. However, I may still need that link in the future. Thanks arcades.

GPS is still broken. I'm going to try wiping my phone and maybe re-installing the radio file. Did you have any issues at all with your GPS and Pokemon? When I am using Google Maps, It's fine. It's prefect, but in PoGo it's really bad.

Skype Video Calling with front AND REAR facing camera working CONFIRMED!

I understand we have one or two different threads here, but I think this justified a new one, since as I'm sure all of you are aware, none of the Skype video calling apks have the rear facing camera truly working (there was one I tried that initialized the video, but did not transmit it to the other party).
I can CONFIRM that this apk by droidrx from the Android Development and Hacking forum that the com.skype.raider-2cam.zip works FLAWLESSLY for both the front AND rear facing cameras on the Evo 3D. I just completed a call with another Skype account on my laptop and audio both ways, and video works beautifully, in addition to switching the camers on/off and switching them back/fourth.
As always, uninstall any other versions of Skype first before installing this one. Make sure you thank droidrx for his work!
Here is the thread where the link and QR code are from! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153285

Are you asking if you want it to auto-connect when you have a data connection, and not when you don't? I'm sure the symbol thing you could probably find an app in the Market for.
I just keep it on. It'll show a Checkmark when you're online and connected, and an X when you're not.
Not sure if that's what you were exactly asking...you can probably go into Skype settings and mess with the options (notifications, go offline..etc.) and see if any of that helps. Just from the main Skype screen on your phone, tap menu and settings.
Any anyone besides the original poster verify this package?
its skype i'll verify that much. havent tested video yet.
but its still doing "reconnecting" with the symbol in the taskbar. my data is off. i unchecked sign in automatically. and i unchecked skype status. and i set it to go offline after 15 minutes.
but i still see the damn spinning icon there.
FYI, the linked post appears to be credible and have some users. I installed it on my 3VO and it launches ok, alas nobody is up at 1am for me to call so I can't test it at the moment.
Thanks for the link dzap!

The previous version of this that was out (46 I think it was?) worked for me, just the front cam of course. But what annoyed me was that it only worked in landscape which is awkward to hold. Does this version lock you to landscape too?

Tanks a lot. works perfect even over 3G, finally got this working
another developer that is working on just GB devices has files posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708
looks like both droidrx and theos0o are sharing their stuff. I don't know if the droidrx version that includes froyo support has any disadvantages, so i'm going to try theos0o version. i currently have working skype video with front cam only, and my video freezes after about 10 seconds. going to try the theos0o version and see how that goes. i'll post back
EDIT: theos0o's version works, I didn't get the rear camera working but will now attempt to tweak the settings. I get front camera freezing still, turning my video on then off fixes it, but annoying. will see if I can resolve and post back (anyone run into this or fix it yet? does droidrx version freeze after 10 seconds?)
EDIT 2: theos0o version fixed front camera freeze by changing resolution (use "force 320x240"). rear cam works by using resolution "force 320x240". sign in automatically setting works (don't need to enter password).
EDIT 3: there is one remaining bug I have. no fix for it, and I suspect it's going to exist no matter which version you use. i've detailed it here, hopefully they find a fix.
Edit 4: see my post here for fully working version.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying it now. Only thing that looks out of place not mentioned above is the screen rotation for videos. I know it will probably dealt with in the near future. So I'm not complaining. Just letting others know just in case they have the same thoughts about it. It is in portrait instead of landscape when I would like to go "full" screen in youtube and video players. Other than that it feels smoother overall than the EB builds lately. Awesome work Krylon360!

I fixed it. I had to wipe the rotation data in recovery and all is well. Thanks Krylon360 for the solid build! My nook feels like it ate buttah and its all smooth inside now. lol.
Excellent work! I just flashed this on top of the latest Mirage rom. Took a couple restarts for everything to settle down (superuser didn't want to allow ROM Control at first), but things seem to be working as promised now.
On the homescreens though, space seems to be limited. The top and bottom of the homescreens are not accessible for widget placement, etc. I've tried a few different launchers but and looked through all the settings but no joy.
Would changing the DPI help?
late,
Coz
EDIT: odd....changing the horizontal and vertical margins in Trebuchet launcher had no effect, however, changing same for Apex resulted in more homescreen real estate.

You have made me vary curious young grasshopper. I must try me some.
The biggest issue for me with CM9 has been the battery life. With CM7 Mirage I can go all week without charging with moderate use. CM9 would drain just sitting there usually requiring a recharge every day.
Tried this out on an SD install. Aside from random lockups (known issue, I see) it's pretty nice. It's definitely not as fast as CM7, but pretty usable. Nice work! :good:

This look awesome, I will def try after work tonight! Thanks for your hard work! I see that you have "Lots more kernel stuff", I was wondering if you were able to get the QI charging bug worked out? I believe its a kernel issue. please correct me if I am wrong.

This is for a fact the smoothest LP rom yet, because the others are only fully smooth if you use lionheart governor which uses more battery. This rom is smooth using interactive. Also love the expanded mode per app feature, I missed it so bad.

I couldn't find the file in the prop build to change the dpi, it appeared to be missing, so I created a new one and named it "ro.sf.lcd_density" and set the value at "640", then rebooted. Worked like a charm!

Alright, so let me throw another one at you (or anyone else) - I've had this issue on every aosp-based ROM I've used so far, but if you have you location set to battery saving, then flip location off and back on again, does the setting revert back to high accuracy for everyone else?
Also having an issue where things appear crazy off scale...see the upper right & left buttons, and the Swiftkey keyboard in the following shots I'm posting

Change the default screen timeout! Keep On Keeping On keeps your screen on!
The default screen timeout interval on Android Wear is too short!
Having such a short timeout makes it difficult to perform tasks that require pauses or to demonstrate features for an audience.
Using KOKO (Keep On Keeping On) you can keep your screen on longer!
Choose from many timeout options ranging from 5 seconds to 2 hours. Or keep your screen on indefinitely!
Please allow a few minutes for the app to be installed on the wearable after installing to mobile device.
Please be aware that setting a long screen off time will affect your battery life.
Now use wrist gestures in KOKO to select your screen timeout without touching your watch!!!!
Feel free to message us with requests for timeout intervals if you can't find one that works for you.
Thanks for trying it out and any feedback you may have.
I thought payed apps are allowed here ONLY, if also a free Version is pushed!
Free version coming soon for XDA, sorry for the delay. Created post on mobile and will update when I get to desktop.
Thread re-opened.
Again, sorry for the delay in getting the free version up. But it's there (OP) now. Please leave feedback if you find any issues.

Havent received 5.1.1 on my Moto360 yet. I'll check it out on the emulator and see if I can find what's up. Thanks for letting me know.

Alright, I think I fixed it. 5.1.1 required a new library that was previously missing. Please let me know if v1.3 works for you.

Well it does not FC anymore but it does not seem to do anything.
EDIT: It does in fact work but not the short options, nothing under 30s works.

Okie dokie, I'll look into that. They work on the emulator so I may have to wait until I get 5.1.1 on my Moto360 to diagnose it. Maybe the default timeout was increased in 5.1.1?

I don't really think so because I think that's what it always was for me even on 4.4 and 5.0, I think 30s always the default, that's why I was hoping your app would let me decrease that time.
That is long for default. On my Moto is was like 4 seconds, that's why I made this app. I don't really want the app to force screen off, just keep it on. Maybe it's a build.prop setting? Are you rooted? Running a custom ROM? I'm neither.
EDIT: I see you are indeed rooted by your sig, maybe it's something in your ROM?

I just have root and a custom kernel, didn't modify anything in the ROM, and I did keep the watch not rooted for a long time and that's just the screen on time I always had by default, I can't see anything in build.prop that I could modify to lower the screen on time, I also used some other apps from Play Store on older android versions to do that but they have not been updated in a long time and thus don't work anymore. I was hoping your app would allow me to do that but I understand if you don't want to give that option, I will learn java in my next year of college so I might try to make my own app to do that afterwards, thank you for your work anyway, it's good to have it for those that want longer screen on time.
I was thinking off how to implement the screen off, how to know when the users not still interacting? Maybe a transparent overlay on the entire screen that listens for touches and after each touch resets a timer that when reaches its end turns off the screen? But this would require the DRAW OVER APPS permission and a Service to add the overlay to WindowManager. If I get some time I'll see if I can slap a demo together.

This looks low to me or maybe I can't read graphs
Either Instagram or messenger seem to block your phone from going into sleep.
Do you close these two in recent apps menu? If not you could try that...
I'm not using both of these apps so I can't test.

I use AccuBattery and routinely get ~8%/hr screen on rate and 0.8%/hr screen off rate. It looks like something is running in the background (as einfachgaer guesses with Instagram and Messenger). If doing as he suggests doesn't seem to help, you might want to consider going into app info and modifying the data and battery settings for each app. To do that, press and hold on the icons until the menu pops up, then select App Info. From there, you should see Data Settings and Battery Settings; open Data Settings and select the option to prevent it from using background data, then open Battery Settings and select Restricted. Finally, select the Force Stop button for both.
Hopefully it gets resolved soon!

I had a call in messenger using the camera so the battery drain is probably from that, also Instagram I've been using it a lot with watching reels. I restricted both apps and further dialed the clocks
Let's see how it goes

For some reason Accu battery couldn't measure my health after 5 charges in fact I after 10-12 of charging it from 5-10% to 90 it couldn't asses the health it kept saying it didn't detect any charges below the 15% threshold, I've put the clocks even further as I replied to @einfachgaer now my screen on is 13% discharge and 1.20% during screen off. Tomorrow I'll post the results going to use it today see how it fares
Update the is is my current SoT after whole day of heavy use of Instagram scrolling through reels mainly and a video call.
I feel like it could be at least 6 hours due me under clocking the CPU quite a bit and running in durable mode, but with 120hz. Anyone want to share their SoT?
Something's wrong with your setup, my phone is completely stock , and from 80% charge i have it on 30 after 12+ hours of use and 4+ hours of SoT . I will try to get more precise data
Light use with WhatsApp and browser mainly. Wifi (90%), 4G (10%) and brightness to 70-80%
Here's my yesterday stats
I'm on 32.2040.2040.23 with clean slate installed plus dialed down clocks it's feels like I'm having twice as less battery than it should be, screen on drain is 15%
Something is definitely wrong with your device not going into proper deep sleep.
Yesterday I installed Accubattery, so not much data, but it should be enough to show that the battery consumption is very different.

I use Sleep Cycle during my sleep, but I use the phone charger not to lose any battery so this couldn't be the reason, another app is YourHour which tracks my usage, going to remove it and redo the tests, also went to 90hz instead of 120hz. If this continues I will do a clean install on the whole phone. Kind of sad because I love the size of this phone and the feel it had, I am waiting for the gcam update so the photo quality comes even more.
Yeah, I got a good 9hr SOT on a medium use day while bone stock. Something's definitely wrong with your device.
Just took the plunge and bl unlocked so I'll let you know how much the kernels do.
Quick update: I fully cleaned the device and found out that wallpaper engine was running in the background without stopping and not reporting for some reason on the battery stats, also for some reason the wallpaper I was using wasn't running as pre-rendered but high quality preset, maybe something happened when I transferred my data from my Zenfone 6, battery seems to be way better now will post a report probably tomorrow.

Hope you got better results. This is my phone after a typical workday, so you definitely have a hardware issue if resetting didn't fix it.

Well this are my stats since yesterday I decided to use a lot of Instagram to check how much would it drain, plus having two video call for a total of 40mins. And the second screenshot is from couple of days ago honestly I feel like I should ask for a replacement or my expectations are way higher than they should be
Update on this once again I find it weird that I lose 30% of my battery with screen off, could someone post their display off stats?
This guy on reddit definitely has a different experience than you

im also getting highish usage compared to others, wonder what the cause might be. Were you able to fix it?
