I installed stock ZV8 ROM but didn't like some things about it so then restored a previous backup. Now, the phone seems to "toggle" data on and off (it will go from having LTE for a few seconds to an error saying "Unable to establish a wireless connection". Also, I cannot make phone calls because the call will fail and show error message "Out of service area."
I tried updating the prl/profile...no dice.
Tried ##scrtn# ..... no dice.
Is it possible the modem somehow got messed up? I'm trying to find stock modem for ZV4 and stock apn now.
Any ideas? Thank you so much!
Do you have a windows computer?

I did the restore a couple more times and it seems to have fixed it. If there is still a problem, I'll try your suggestion.
Ok best of luck
Hi Guys,
Had a problem with the lolipop upgrade on my 850f.
I was BTU (Unrooted) before on 4.4.
after flashing the XEF lollipop via odin, i went to recovery to wipe device and it wiped most except for E: for which it gave an error (E: unknown volume for path /sbfs) - i ignored the error and proceeded ahead.
Unit reboots perfectly, all OK except for the left capacitive key. the light on it works but it doesnt detect anything, i tried the *#0*# option to check if its picking up anything but the key is unresponsive.
i know its not a HW issue since it was working perfectly before the lollipop flash.
i have wiped by device twice after that and get the same 2 problems, the E: error during wipe and the left capacitive key is not working.
any suggestions?

I have the same problem, tried wipe/factory reset, both before flash and after. Still same error. My solution is to flash back to 4.4.4. Then it starts to work again

ah okay, you tried flashing 502 again after your key works in 444? also what versio of odin did you use? i used 3.10...
would be good to know what others used who arent having this problem.
I have flashed it 4 times, still same problem. Even after flashing 4.4.4. Tried both 3.10 and 1.85 odin. Same problem

interesting.... it seems like a fw bug but its wierd that not many are affected by it.
i would like to know or pin point whats causing this.
were you on BTU before you upgraded to 502?
did you encounter the E: unknown volume for path /sbfs error?
do you think the firmware file we downloaded had a corruption?

I was on rooted stock 4.4.4. Just bought it, I also encountered the same error, and I've downloaded 5.0.2 from 3 different mega upload. So I don't think that's the problem :/

interesting buddy, sounds like both the error are related..?
anyone had the E: error but the left soft/capacitive key still works after the update to 502?
same problem
left softkey not working
Did you get the E: error during the device wipe?
We all have G850F model, the only difference is the SCS, aka for which market our phones are made for, mine is originally XEH (Hungary), converted to XEF, and i don't have that problem. Why don't people who have issues with left softkey say for which market are their phones made for, maybe we can narrow it down.
Someone with a Galaxy Alpha "SM-G850A" (the at&t) model posted a very similar problem here. His left softkey stopped working after the update and as there is no Stock firmware file available for the A model he was pretty much struck with a broken device. So i don't think it has anything to do with ODIN or CSC. the guy with atnt phone updated his via OTA the bug HAS TO BE in the firmware but so far only a few devices have been affected. This is the real question here.
mine was btu and i flashed the firmware via odin 3.10
after the update i reset and saw the e: error and once device booted the left key was dead.
is usb debugging have something to do with it?
i try to reflash and wipe today
it still problem.
left key is dead

Originally the CSC was XEH (Hungary) I updated the phone with the XEF FW and I also get the /sbfs error in recovery. Although everything seems to for except on thing: Doing a firmware upgrade and initialization in KIES it sets the CSC to TPH (Portugal) and now displays tww versions for the CSC. So from that time KIES doesn't recognize the phone as a stock device.
Cannot go back to the original FW even if I download it from sammobile since I cannot set the CSC without root privileges
Does any body know a solution for this issue?

after installing xef with odin - no problems, all buttons work, no overheating, good performance
i have flashed the firmware without enabling usb debugging
maby one of you with issues should try flashing without usb debug enabled like in my post from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60519632&postcount=10
I had the same problem, and I did this:
Went to Chrome - Settings - Combine Tabs and Apps. I deactivated the option, and by mistake, hit the back button, and started working.
Eventhough the option is Deactivated, when I press the left button, I can see Chorme's tabs wtithin the Recents Apps.
After that had to install and app from Google Play, and after doing so, the button stopped working again. I restarted de phone, and 20 minutes later, the button started working. I have no clue of what's going on.

Hi!
I'm running stock Android Pie and I installed Swift Installer overlays to get a dark theme. Yesterday I tapped on the system update just before remembering to disable overlays before doing so... and no way to cancel the update before it actually installed it
Now my phone won't start properly: I get the Samsung logo, then I enter my pattern do decrypt the phone, then it loads and when finished loading it restarts immediately. The second time, instead or restarting immediately it will display the wallpaper for a few seconds, then black screen for a few seconds, and then the Samsung logo disappearing as it shuts the system down. And then it boots me into a special recovery mode with 4 options:
Try again
Erase App data
Power off
View Rescue log
Viewing the rescue log shows me it really is a system UI issue that's very likely because of the Swift Installer overlay: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'int com.android.systemui.statusbar.notification.FakeShadowViw.getVisibility()' on a null object reference
Trying again does the same as before, "Erase App data" doesn't help either, and "Power off" actually reboots to the regular recovery mode, with different options:
Reboot system now (same result)
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Mount /system
view recovery logs
run graphics test
run locale test
Power off
Lacking storage booting
From the document from the Play Store page of Swift Installer, you can download a rescue script (rescue_Pie.zip). I tried sideloading that file using adb (option 2), and from an SD card (option 3)
and both yield the same result:
Code:
E:footer is wrong
Update package verification took 0.2s (result 1).
E:signature verification failed
E:error:21
Installation aborted
I tried wiping the cache partition and that didn't help, I tried booting with Safe Mode and that didn't help, the only obvious option left that I can see is to do a factory reset, but there are photos from my last trip I would hate to lose and since my phone is encrypted, doing a factory reset would lose the encryption key and I wouldn't be able to recover them.
Would there be any way to
Get the rescue script to run properly, or
Get access to a shell to run the bash commands from the script myself (it's really simple), or
Erase everything BUT my user data, or
Get my photos out of my phone from recovery mode, or
Stop the phone from rebooting long enough for me to try and get my photos out to my computer
It seems really dumb that there is no way to restart with all non-stock apps disabled or to reset the system without losing photos and such...
Thanks for your time and any help!
Try flashing the latest CSAB build with CSC_Home using ODIN. That should essentially replace Android and retain your data. Hopefully that will override the overlay with stock OneUI. If you can't, you can at least flash back to BRK2, CSC_Home, disable overlays, then push forward to CSAB through OTA.?
---------- Post added at 01:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 AM ----------
The latter would probably be your best bet in keeping your files.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I downloaded Odin, your answers are a bit cryptic to me, I started downloading the latest firmware (which has the same version id as shown in recovery mode before you edited your message.
I assume BRK2 is the previous version, and would match the overlays I installed so I can boot properly. ls there a guide to stock version names

I'm assuming you're currently running CSAB on a G965U. You'll need the BRK2 firmware package (doesn't matter what carrier). Flash that using ODIN and for CSC you will use CSC_Home to retain your data. That would essentially put you back to preupdate. You'd then disable the overlay and allow it to update to CSAB on its own, however I think Samsung blocked overlays in Pie all together so you may not be able to use them again.
---------- Post added at 02:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------
There is no "guide" per say... If you're on a carrier branded US G965U device, you'll want to downgrade from pie (CSAB) to BRK2 (Oreo) and flash the CSC_Home file (NOT CSC_OMC that will wipe).
If you're on the Exynos or international unlocked, I can't help you because those firmware builds are out of my scope.
Thanks a lot for your help!
I flashed G965FXXU2BRK2 on my phone using Odin, and it got stuck in a loop of loading and "Optimizing app X of 72" Over and over again without rebooting. I tried to wipe the cache data and reboot but still the same.
So I flashed G96FXXU2CSA2 (which was the version I had already apparently) and now I seem to be back to my starting point: same behaviour, same error in the log...
My phone is a G965F.
I am having this exact same issue all my Galaxy note 10 plus using synergy and substratum lite. I have been steaming my phone using these same methods since the note 10 plus was released and all of a sudden today I start getting issues to wear my phone automatically boots into a boot loop. I have reset my phone twice now and then I theme it and it works fine but then I went to switch themes and all of a sudden phone shut off in into bootloop. Did you ever get any explanation?
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S9+, and I'm stuck on the January 2019 update. They just released an October update. I've tried the Verizon Upgrade Assistant, but I get the following message: "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware," and it stops. I've tried Samsung Smart Switch, but it says my software is up-to-date (last three digits are SA7). I was on chat with Verizon for several hours yesterday, and they couldn't figure it out. They said to contact Samsung, which told me that I needed to contact Verizon. Very frustrating, especially after reading about some new malware that affects my phone. Plus, I'm hoping an update will help alleviate my battery drain issue. I have done a complete factory reset and even cleared the cache again, but no luck. I'd greatly appreciate answers from you guys!

also go to your phones settings, about phone, software information and post the screenshot of what that page shows so we can see your entire baseband

Hello mates!
I've sold my Pocophone a while ago and it was working as supposed to. I don't know what the person did but the phone went to the system configuration as if someone did a factory reset or something but it a mess.
When the setup starts it shows a message "Android Setup isn't responding" with a Wait or Ok option.
After a while the message "Android Setup Keeps stopping" also appers.
After that it starts the confituration but when it asks me to connect to WiFi it's completely blank. No WiFi options is showed in the screen.
I can skip that and continue the configuration but in the end a message is showed saying that I didn't configurate a Google Account and it puts me back to the beggining of the configuration.
I've tried a wipe data in recovery menu but nothing changed.
Edit: after I noticed that I can access de notification bar and the configurations of the phone. I discovered that it's using Android 10.0.4.0 and that I can't access WiFi button or configuration. WiFi button is not clickable and the configuration menu is blank and if I wait some long time the options appears but when I click to activete WiFi it says that is activanting but the button comes back to original position.
Edit 2: with Mi Flash Pro I could install the latest version of the system (10.0.6.0) but nothing changed. I noticed that in this configuration menu after a while the phone reboots.
Edit 3: Now I've found something bizarre. Baseband version is unknown. I think that most of the problems maybe is connected to that.

Latest version of miui is MIUI 11 (11.0.6.0).
If the baseband version is unknown it means you have corrupted the modem. Your IMEI number is also gone and you can't use your SIM services.

There are two setups in miui, one is done by miui and second is done by google. So try setting up your phone both times without google account. Once you've made it to the launcher you can figure out the problems.

That day after hard reset again and knock a little bit the phone, all of sudden the unkwown status changed and the WiFi worked. But was intermittent and also all of sudden the WiFi stopped and sometimes worked on next boot and sometimes not showing again unknown. Sometimes the phone rebooted by itself.
Something is weird with the phone and I don't know if it's physical or software issue.
I returned the phone to the owner. I'm sorry I wrote 10.0.6.0 but it's 11.0.6.0.
