Can't get into Download Mode...?

Hei, Im new to the Samsung Android Phones but I have had HTC Android Phones since the G1 and until the HTC Desire HD and Xperia Arc.
But now Im stuck, I cant get niether Kies nor Odin to recognize my device, let me tell you how.
1. When I try to connect to Kies the *Android MTP driver* fail to install.
2. So Kies will go on an endless Connection journy and my devices tells me its connected.
I have reinstalled the drivers many time. tried with both USB-Debugging mode on and off and still no result.
Ok, but thats not the worst part because i could careless about Kies since my interrest is in rooting the device.
Now if my device is powered on and the USB-debugging mode is on Odin finds it (mark it as yellow)
but when I put the device is in Download mode Odin doesnt find it and I cant flash :'(
Im confussed, i've been going at it for days now with no results. help me please...
When you're in Odin, have you disabled Kies? Both the .exe and the system tray?
What's your current firmware?

I mean I close Kies when using Odin and vice versa. you think Kies is the reason for Odin not finding the device in download mode?

Turn Kies off = not running in taskbar .
USB debugging off reboot phone .
Open Odin select firmware connect phone via Samsung cable to a mainboard USB port .

Well frankly that MTP device error is a PITA, it happened for me with my S8500, did everything possible, couldn't solve it until I installed Win 7 x64. So may be a fresh OS installation could/should solve the problem.
If you can't do that Odin is the only option as you already know.
And make sure that you are pressing Vol Up+Home+Power button to enter Download mode and press the Vol Up key to continue.
Regards.
It seems that Im ably to enter Android System Recovery by pressing VolUp+Home+Power and Odin seems to find the devices find, but thats not Download Mode I guese, do I brick the phone if I flash from here via Odin?

You can't flash from Odin in recovery, and I'm not sure I've heard of anyone who can get recovery but not download. Something is FUBAR'd...
I'll let ithehappy and jj take over, they've more experience than me. But since you're in recovery, a factory reset seems logical.
Anybody have any idea? please help..
Did you try factory reset? And have installed the newest version of Kies, as opposed to re-installing old drivers?
Uninstall kies and the drivers
Download these driver
Install them
Put phone into download mode
Flash a rom or kernel using Odin
If this doesnt work
1) change USB ports
2) reboot computer
3) try another computer if you have one close by
Or if you have Clockworkmod recovery installed
4) boot into CWM recovery
5) connect phone to computer via USB
6) select mounts and storage
7) select mount USB storage
8) your phones internal SD card will now mount with the computer, copy a CWM flashable zip of what you want to flash to the phones sd card
9) go back to main menu
10) select install zip from sd card
11) select chose zip from sd card
12) flash!
Ugh, totally my fault for not thinking this through.
Had downloaded the Paranoid Android ROM, a newer version from what I had, as I had installed it incorrectly.
So I thought, no worries, I'll just reinstall the ROM.
Booted into recovery mode, did a full wipe and then tried to install the new rom, only I couldn't find it anywhere...
Thinking I'll restart the phone and figure it out from there, but of course it doesn't go past the loading screen.
I can boot into download mode, but on my PC if I boot Odin, it doesn't recognize the phone and I get no yellow colour.
Pretty sure my internal SD card still has one or two custom roms on it, but without booting into recovery mode, I can't do much.
Odin doesn't recognize my phone. I installed the drivers from the samsung website, but it is not reading the phone in download mode.
Now I am unsure if there's another driver I need to install, i.e. a USB driver, seeing as this is a brand new pc, but other than that, I'm stuck.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
Download galaxy s3 toolkit from original android development section, install it and agree when asked to install drivers , reboot Pc and cross fingers for your Pc to detect your phone in download mode then just flash stock ROM
Sent from the grey stuff inside my skull
If you have a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP), you can use an OTG cable to connect a USB stick to your phone (which will be discovered by CWM, haven't tried TWRP) and install a new ROM with gapps from it...
Of course if you want to install stock, you have to stick with Odin.
Hope it helps
Hello..
I have a Galaxy S plus (GT I9001), I installed TIGER-JELLY BEAN v8 recently, which was working fine. But phone was lagging a lot so I decided to install the stock rom again. I installed Kies(latest version) with drivers and connected my phone to my PC, but it was not detected by Odin. Every time I got Samsung Composite USB Device driver installation failed. So I searched and installed drivers from Here and Here. But they didn't worked either. I tried again after changing USB Cable but still no luck. Then I installed Kies in my Laptop and tried to connect the phone. Still it wasn't recognized.
Things were not working with downloading mode and Stock rom tar file cannot be flashed with recovery mode. So I searched a converter for .tar to flash able .zip file and found THIS . I installed this tool and tried to convert the tar file to zip. Didn't noticed that it require knowing "Mount Point", so I converted the tar file to zip without changing the mount point and copied the file to internal storage of phone and flashed the zip file. After that phone restarted , and stuck at Samsung Logo.
New I can't even to recovery Mode, nothing happens when I keep Pressing Vol Up + Power. Phone starts and stuck at samsung logo. Odin was already not detecting the phone so I tried connecting the phone on Ramdump Mode and some how drivers were installed and odin detected it correctly. But odin can't flash phone in ramdump mode so it didn't worked.
So now the problems I am facing are:
1- Phone is stuck at samsung logo, can't go in recovery mode.
2- Odin not detecting phone in downloading mode.
Is there something what I can do to fix this?
Please help!
Thank you.
Hi, I have mistakenly flashed the wrong CWM to the Samsung Young running 4.1.2 I believe. This happened after i did a standard facory reset for family (phone was aready rooted) and after CWM kept on rebooting into CWM recover screen, tried recovery fix to no avail. so flashed another CWM via zip but I think that was for the samsung fame.
Phone is black screen, no image or recovery screen (working blind)
The phone can be seen by Windows device manager and it install the com port and the composite device and the normal sounds when the phone is disconnected and reconnected.
I have tried using ODIN (v.1.89 and 1.9) to put S6310N firmware back onto the phone (PDA, CSC and MODEM) but ODIN hangs at 'Setupconnection'
I run odin as admin, have tried different ports, cables, computer and taking battery out etc.ODIN shows 'Added' when i remove and reconnect so it can see it.
My question is does Odin have to be on the same port as the phone (mine shows 13 in Odin) but actual phone in windows 7 device manager is 12
I left ODIN for 30 mins but nothing changed.
Do I need the bootloader and pit file?
Would I need to adb (if thats now possible) to turn of usb debugging- could that be the problem?
I realise i'm now at the hard brick stage so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Ok, its in your usb connector, its kinda broken, i saw a fix for galaxy S1 woth this problem
You take a toothpick and look inside you micro usb connector and you will se a "tongue", gently push that "tongue" up with a toothpick or anything non-metalic and see if it works
Cheers!!!
