Searching a stable, not so much battery consumption, nice custom rom - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

could someone be so nice giving me a tip for a custom rom which is Android 4.4+ that is very stable and have long accu time.
it must not have the ultra super future functions and must not be the latest. Also don't need super kernel tuning switches.
At the moment i'm on 4.3 rooted stock rom and the features are fine for me.
Need only a newer rom for playing pokemon go
thanx Michael

Is Pac man Rom any good?
Lol. Its u again. Flash it and try for yourself. Every person got different need and what is good/best/phenomenal for them might not be the same for u. Its not that hard to flash a rom and if in the end u didn't like it, its just few minutes away to boot into recovery and do a restore.
Anyway, all stock gb based, stock ics based, cm9, cm10 roms got 100% working bluetooth. Cm10.1 works partially, abit buggy for now since cm10.1 itself is in heavy development with kernel 3.x. How might i know, did i flash all of them rom? No, just by reading first post. And u should do the same too.
Well don't want to be rude but this is the 3rd time u created this type thread. Every ROM page has changelog and working/non-working list please go through it Anyways now I guess after the new patch all cm10/10.1 have bluetooth working
Any for good jelly bean ROM, please go through the index thread sticked in development forum and go through each and every rom and download the on that suits u best.
Talking about best ROM's and kernels or other types of works is a direct insult to all the devs and their hardwork.
Hope you understand
Reported for now. Mods will close this soon.
Just a sidenote: Please please and please do not create a new thread or I can assure of u getting banned
Cheers,

Need some help please.

I'm looking for a rom that is stock based has good battery life and is fast and stable.
Could anyone suggest me a ROM please? It must be on 4.3 or 4.4
I'm not asking which is the best I'm simply asking for suggestions.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
I'm also fairly new to the rooting side of android or what ever you want to call it lol.
It is still a kind of asking for a rom thread. U are asking for a rom tat is fast. It is different for all users as the way they customise and wat apps they install on it affects the speed. Pls try them out urself.

Omnirom nightlies seem fairly bugless as do the latest cm 11 nightlies. I would go with omnirom as it has more features and customisations. These are of course 4.4 ROMs as there aren't any Samsung based 4.4 ROMs currently. Looking at sources it seems however that s3 4.4 update looks confirmed for some US regions. For a 4.3 ROM I'd go for the S5 revolution ROM. Seems quick with little bugs, good battery life and a S5 theme. More updates are to come. I wouldn't know much about other ROMs as I don't have the patience to flash many. I'm sure you can find many more ROMs to your liking.

Your opinion of LG G2 ROM choise

Hello, tomorrow I will receive my new LG G2 D802.
After a long time of being iOS user ,I want to get back to the Android.
As there are many treads of info and lot of then are out of date.
My question is - what is the best ROM for this moment to LG G2.
I want good battery performance, good camera with manual settings specially manual autofocus during video recording.
So give me your favorite ROM, and why you use it ?
It would be great if someone give me info about rooting and other usefull mods?
thanks ,greetings from Latvia ,
Cheers!
Cloudyg3 best choice for me.its a nice"upgrade" all around of the stock many more features that is very useful and missing in stock.the new design icons..good battery and xcam camera build in and stable..try it its my daily driver for a long time
Don`t get me wrong but this question depends on peoples choices...but i will tell you my opinion:
-if you like slim and pure android experiance with good tweaks i would suggest you latest Ressurection Remix with a slim gapps.(dont expect stock quality camera performance)
-if you want to get stock and rock solid performance with a really good quality camera i would suggest you cloudy g2 2.2 with stock kernel. ( for me only problem with cloudy is too many bloats in it but you can delete them bloats with root explorer and you will be good to go...)
-lately i am testing Miui v6 on g2.its simply amazing rom with really good interface and slick performance. it has all capabilities of stock experiance with a better designed ui,stock camera and tons of theming options.its been few days since its rolled out but it is very stable for daily use.but dont forget it is still in early developement stage.you can find some little bugs.
pure android wont make you %100 happy with its camera performance. i would suggest you to try cloudy g2 2.2. (but you should give miui v6 a try )

I'm in the same position as him. Which one would you suggest for stability and battery? For camera I'm gonna use fv-5 I guess it will take the same picture on all the roms, I also like cm based roms such as blisspop or nightlies, but I want to make sure I have a good battery and stable rom..
CloudyG2 best for me so far.
Quetzal ROM is the best, smooth and stable never found any bugs and you have an iOS status bar

You just got your G2. Give it some time. While testing the stock rom learn about the device and read some guides. Flashing stuff to a device you don't know anything about is the worst. Don't hurry.

check my sig mate for some links
1. Root your D802 with Stump Root
2. Autorec for D802
3. Flash TWRP 2861 by blastagator
4. BACKUP BACKUP
a. EFS
b. Sensor
c. Modem
d. Full Backup (/data /system /boot)
5. Flash your chosen ROM
a. GAPPS
b. SuperSU
Note: read the O.P. of your preffered ROM twice or more 'coz of the Baseband or Bootloader requirements.
Avoid Over Heating your G2 for screen damage (black lines, etc)
good luck!

In the same boat for D802, just did mine to regular cm12. blisspop and ressurection had borked dt2w for me. Cm12 05/08 for me has working dt2w and is very stable and polished, more so than the other 2 imo, but the camera leaves much to be desired. The earlier step by step reply was good but i used the following root then autorec instead (made sense since they were on the same page)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
Both programs work well and are super easy to do, as long as you can set up adb for the root program on that page. the blastagator twrp mentioned earlier is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
only thing you may need to fiddle with is the bootloader/ baseband. (baseband = modem, which took me a while to figure out). stock roms might not need changing but aosp roms like cm need a JB bootloader. e.g. cm12 needed a JB bootloader (autorec flashes a KK one) and either a JB/KK baseband, but this is advice specific to cm. you need to search and figure out what combo. Came from a N4 where this was all super easy, doing it on a g2 is a bit more difficult

Kernel, ROM... What should I change?

Hi, guys!
First, I love the S6 edge. Beautiful, nice design and features... But I´m having issues with the multitasking, battery and general speed. I´m currently in 5.1.1 STOCK and I´m thinking in a change. So, as far as I know there are 2 options; change the ROM or else change the Kernel.
The ROM I found the best is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/development/rom-carhdrom-1-t3111519/page111
And the Kernel is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/orig-development/tw-simplkernel-t3091094
So, my question is if I should just change the Kernel or I should go for the whole ROM. I am not really sure if changing the kernel will make things faster and with better battery life...
Can you help me with this? I would also need ROOT access, s o maybe the ROM is a good option as the Kernel doesn´t have ROOT as far as I know.
Thanks, guys! I really appreciate your support!
Well most ROMs here are using Stock kernel, so i suggest u flash a ROM of ur choice, the ROM makers do some tweaking that surely make the phone feel snappier.
Good Luck.
First of all, you should read the forum rules. This doesn't belong into Android Development.

n00b needs errorfree-, stable-, fast-, bloat-free-, dark-, rom for Galaxy S3 i9300

N00b recently obtained a S3, rooted it with Kingo root & need some advice. on how to proceed next...
First of all i would like to point out that i have read several threads here in Q&A and in DEV and i must say the amount of ROMS and possibilities are quite overwhelming. That's why i am posting this Q...
Second: i don't want to switch ROM's all the time, i just want to install one good working, stable & fast ROM without the hassle of adding extra's, removing bloatware, try different kernels/bugfixes etc... It just needs to work.
Also i like to have: a dark layout for the Phone (saves energy and looks much better to me)
As little bloatware as possible , i just want it to be working fast & stable/flawless (i will install the stuff i really need myself via google playstore if possible)
Some Questions
- On my HTC Sensation XE i have 4EXT (with Viper 521 ROM), would this recovery work for the S3 or should i use someting else and why ?
- Which superuser/SU/else should work best with the S3 ?
- Should i use a 5.1.1 or 4.4.4-based ROM ? I have seen various threads and video-comparisons but none of them could convince me (besides the fact that lollipop is too bright & child-looking for my taste)
- Is there a stable & fully operational version of stock Android 4.4.4 or 5.1.1 for the S3 ? And if not which ROM comes closest ?
I would gratfeully receive any advice which ROM i should pick based on your personal experience(s)
Thnx in advance !
Slimkat 4.4.4 is recommended. Light, fast, no bloat and it has the dark mode you are looking for
Lollipop is no good for the s3 but if you are feeling adventourous you can try out either slimLP or dokdo project.
@cokesucker:
thnx for reply, i guess i'm gonna have to try...
Recovery ? Anyone else ? (read TS plz)
I'm currently using carbon rom kk last nightly from 11/2014 and ArchiKernel 2.1 old aosp. This is my daily driver. For recovery us TWRP always

Btw:
Why you think Lollipop is no good for the S3 ?
I was reading & watching (YouTube) some reviews about Archidroid & CM12 & they seem to be quite popular.
Any thoughts ?
Recovery Twrp
5.1.1 Rom ArchiDroid 3.1.4
Kernel Boeffla alpha 17
For a dark theme look at the play store and search for 5.1.1 theme
