I read somewhere you can make a screenshot bij clicking volume down + power. This doesn't work on my phone (maybe I disabled it while trying to root it, in which I succeeded in a way I can not reproduce).
Anyway, I searched this forum, didn't find a solution, stumbled upon a setting that does work for me:
Settings - Smart Assistant - System motion. Enable "Three fingers screenshot"
You have to hold Volume down + Power, not just click them. It has worked for me for all the custom roms I tried here.
Thanks, I know, holding it a few seconds should do the trick. Not for me.
Installing Win 10 USB-drivers, flashing TWRK-recovery and SuperSU should be a piece of cake too. SuperSu kept telling me the binaries were not properly installed. Flashing the Darksense-rom wasn't a succes either, apart from getting SuperSu installed in some miraculous way.
And on top of that I can make 3-finger screenshots now
Why is it so hard to find correct information on this? Several options haven't worked including holding down volume down + power button. Also, there is no "Smart assistant" in my "Settings" folder.

Okay so I just had this problem and I don't want anyone getting stuck on it and not knowing how to fix it. I decided to write a quick guide for everyone.
Steps
Boot phone into "Boot Android (No BP)" by holding the Volume Down key and the Power button.
Press the Volume Down button until you see "Boot Android (No BP)"
Press the Volume Up button and wait.
Hold the Power button once its on and press Airplane Mode.
Reboot the device.
Skip the Error Message about not being able to activate. (Keep Airplane Mode on)
Open Sprint Zone app.
Activate through Sprint Zone. (When prompted to exit Airplane Mode, say yes.)
Thanks: thaisport_sf & w0lf215
I had to do that exact same thing a few months ago, twice... I'm glad to see someone took the time to document this... Now I know where to look when I do it again...

Do you have a way to fix it so I can add it?
Huge thanks! Conveniently enough, I saw this right as it happened to me. lol
I get stuck on "Contacting Network" during a PRL/Profile update, but I am able to exit by clicking on an app(IMO beta) on the notifications pull down, and pressing home. I am activated, just want to update the data profiles.
Plancy, press ##786# on your phone. Whats your HW version?
Accidental formatting of Internal SD through CWM
I have run into this problem before where the boot logo is erased saying that it will "cold-boot" into Linux. The only problem is that when I SBF to get back to stock, the photon wouldnt update the PRL or the data profile. The only remedy I have found is that I need to restore the PDS partition from a nandroid backup after unlocking again. Doing so rendered the green hands-free activation screen. Hope that helps anyone.

This is a fix from the Atrix forum that might be able to help. I haven't tried it but the OP mentioned that method 1 was a universal fix, although not sure if meant as a multi-device fix. Best of luck, worst case scenario is having to shell out 35$ for a replacement

No problem. Have you checked what your HW version was by chance to see if it was the PDS that borked? Normally it would say P30A, or at least that's what it shows on both Photons that I have.
Edit: The one I messed with said it was unavailable.

If you're not with Sprint, then you just follow the above AND also delete these files:
SprintOMADMConnMOPlugin.apk
SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.odex
They're found under System/app and you need Root Explorer to delete the file(s). At the top, you tap on "Mount..." and then you'll be allowed delete these files. To delete, simply long press the files and choose delete. Some might only find one of the above files (if they have a custom ROM).
Someone showed this trick to me, so... I can only take credit for being the messenger
Hmm doesn't look like anyone knows how to help I really want to update.

When do they delete the files? Which step?
Gonna have to ask around on how to fix the PDS partition or restore it.

The first chance they get. They have to be removed before they reboot the phone, or when they boot normally they will get the activation message. This replaces your activation step for people whom do not have sprint.

I have a Motorola MC40 device that is used for scanning items in a retail store. I am need to write a little app for it, but cannot get Eclipse to see the device. I've tried the only suggestion I can find on the internet on StackOverflow (search mc40, i can't post links here yet), but my Win7/64bit computer isn't seeing the device.
I've tried viewing it with adb devices and have made sure that I am updating the correct SDK files... still no go.
I remember having to do something like this with my Kindle fire initially, but it wasn't this hard to get working.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
What's about this?

Thanks for the reply. I have given this a shot. I'll do a fresh install of everything and see if that makes a difference. Pretty strange why this is so hard to see in Eclipse!

I''m having the same problem. I purchased this device - used - but do not have the admin password. is there a way to get into the bootloader or put it into download mode so that I can put in fresh firmware? I dont have access to enable USB debugging. I know the hard reset is left scan, volume up, and power -- but that still doesn't get me into a boot mode that I'm looking for. I got into it by accident once, but have no idea how that happened. Help me somebody. please?
You know I just developed on an old phone and then pushed the apk. Never could figure this out...

- Power menu (hold power)
- Press left scan button (while power menu showing)
- Select reboot (still holding left scan button)
- Reboot animation starts ('rebooting".....with the circle spinning), keep the left scanner button pressed for as long as it takes and it'll eventually reboot and enter a recovery

Hi earlier my son was on the nabi 2 and randomly it started spamming "Unfortunately google search has stopped" every 3 - 4 seconds, which affects the keyboard I suppose, now I'm just stuck on the "Enter the password" but no keyboard to do so? Please help me I'm not sure how to run these programs to fix it or how to even start.

hello, my son's nabi is behaving the same. Did you ever get a way around this? If so please post
My daughters is the same. It's incredibly irritating as we can't get into parent mode to try updates. Only thing I can think to do is a factory reset but am loath to do it as she has had this nabi for 3 years and has a lot of stuff on it. Anyone find a solution?

Not sure what android version you are on. With ADB you could try
adb shell pm clear com.google.android.gms
Otherwise it will likely be a factory reset.
You could try and enter recovery mode and clear the cache.
1. Turn the tablet off completely.
2. Hold volume up and power.
3. A menu should pop up.
4. Use the volume keys to scroll the menu selection. volume down scrolls the menu down.
5. Scroll to recovery kernel and press volume up to select it.
6. Wait until an android lying on it's back with a warning triangle popping from it's body appears.
7. Hold Volume Down, and while you're holding it, press volume up.
8. A menu should appear. Using the volume down button, scroll to "wipe cache partition" and press power to select it.
9. Using the volume down button once again, scroll to "yes" and press power to select it.
10. When it says it's done and the menu is back, press power and the tablet will restart.
This worked for me: delete com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox in data/data
Hello, all. I joined just to post this solution I just discovered.
Problem:
"Unfortunately Google Search stopped working" + no keyboard + thus Nabi is stuck in "Kid Mode" as OP described, because you can't get to system settings in "Mommy Mode" to disable the malfunctioning app, because you can't enter the Mommy Mode password.
Background:
My daughter's Nabi2 tablet (running Android 4.1) did not have USB debugging enabled before it flaked out, so I thought I was out of luck. Moreover, doing "fastboot delete cache" didn't work, nor did deleting the cache and the Dalvik cache via TWRP. But this DID work:
1) Installed Android SDK tools to get fastboot utility working. (How to do this is amply documented elsewhere.)
2) Installed TWRP, twice. First an older version 2.3.x, then 2.8.5.0. You may be able to go straight to 2.8.5.0. but I followed a helpful post on beatificabytes dot be (search for "Nabi 2 Bricked"), who did it in two stages, and this worked easily for me.
3) Optional: I made a backup of my data using TWRP 2.8.5.0, just in case anything went wrong. I also made a backup of the whole system. (The earlier version of TWRP couldn't access the files, but loading 2.8.5.0 enabled me to back up files.)
4) Go to TWRP file manager. (Tap "Advanced" tab, then "File Manager") I navigated to data/data and deleted the whole folder named com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox You have to look carefully for it because the end of the name gets cut off in the left-hand window that lists folders. Just tap the folder name, then when it shows you the contents in the right-hand window, tap delete without tapping anything in the right-hand window. You can verify that you are deleting the whole folder after you tap delete.
5) Exit TWRP. I did not opt to install SuperSU; I left the tablet unrooted. Reboot to normal system.
Voila! "Unfortunately..." no longer appeared, and the keyboard was back!
I took a moment to go into Mommy Mode and enabled USB debugging for future use.
Hope this helps. There seem to be a lot of people trying to fix this bug! Saved me a factory reset and my daughter losing all her progress in her games.
Other folks have suggested directly attaching a keyboard to the Nabi using an "on the go" cable. (Female normal size USB to male micro USB.) I didn't have one handy so didn't try it, but let folks know if it works for you, because it's an easier solution than installing a recovery program. But I am extremely grateful for the TeamWin community and those who ported it for Nabi2.
EJJ
Buy an OTG cable and plug a wired keyboard into the nabi 2. Type your password in and you will be in mommy mode!! The cable costs 1 buck to 3 bucks online. While in mommy mode go to your settings. Open APPS. Select ALL in top right and find Google search. Open it and clear all cached as well as all data! Tablet is back to normal without losing a thing!!!!! I just did this to my nieces today and it worked great!!!
If I press volume up or volume down the screen goes black.
If I press the power button it appears that the volume up / down buttons are sending me to the lock screen.
Tried rebooting phone to no avail. Anyone any ideas?
Update: volume buttons work when in YouTube App and when watching video in Facebook.
Presumably this suggests it is a software problem?

You go into twrp recovery and click install. Choose the file that is your ROM. Must be the same one you are currently on. Proceed to flash, Reboot. That is it my friend. If you want to do the other option same go into twrp. Click wipe and go to advanced . Only select davlik/cache wipe, Reboot.
You may be on the OOS.
Copy the 2.2.1-X full package on the phone.
http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-x/oneplus_x_oxygenos_2.2.1-x/
To reboot to recovery install that and reboot recovery with advanced menu
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teliapp.powervolume
Activate Dev options (in about phone, tap 7 times on the build number) and in the new menu appeared, add advanced menu. You should be able to reboot recovery now...
Follow the guide on the OP support page for install
So Install, select zip, OK, then wipe caches. Reboot.
See if it OK now...
hi I hope this is posted correctly... I have a nabi 2 running kitkat that was rooted with kingo root and no twrp, everything stock besides that... I deleted something I shouldn't have and when I restarted the tablet it booted fine until it got to the home screen. as of now I have no lock screen to swipe and no home screen. The home button and back button still show and also make a click noise. so I figure to do a factory reboot and everything would be fine... well I was wrong... it still boots but still no home screen.... at times the background will flash and the time and battery will pop up.
So I downloaded nabilabs thinking that would be able to help me and I believe it will but as I found out when I did a factory reset it turned off usb debugging and will not connect now. so with out screen controls how do I turn usb debugging mode on? is there a line I can send to it to connect? thanks for the help in advanced..
I did search around and found a bunch of great software and roms for it but I really haven't found a similar issue or realized that I found something close to my issue.
Do you have a photo? That would make it easier to know what you’re describing
Your firmware may be corrupted.
I put the link to a new ROM here. If you click click the hyperlink it will be at the top of the screen. Use Fastboot to flash that.
Put Fastboot Protocol on by holding down both the volume buttons and the power button, then when the letters on the top left (held in landscape) of the screen pop up, click the volume - (down) button and then click the volume + (up) button. Your computer will now recognize the device in Fastboot. Then you can flash the ROM.
See if that helps.
