I've had a search around but there doesn't seem to be clear answers on this one, unless I missed something.
I know kenzo has beta MIUI 8 but it seems LP-based. Are there any plans for MM? I'm guessing it would be beneficial for custom ROMs since radios/drivers would be MM-based.
Being a newbie when it comes to this device means I've been wary of switching from stock-based ROMs due to the radio issues. I'm guessing the custom MM ROMs rely on unofficially patched files that cause issues returning to stock or switching ROMs. If someone could enlighten me on this I'd be grateful.
Also, how well supported are features like the IR blaster or Qualcomm audio on most ROMs?
this is what is keeping me from buying a rn3p, if its not getting official miui with mm im off to a Mi max.
If you want fast updates of of android use nexus or motorola. Xiaomi has a very very bad track record of updating android versions.
Yes it is highly probable that redmi note 3 snapdragon will get mm update but dont expect android updates after it because only flagships like mi3 mi4 mi5 get assured updates for latest os rest only get assured miui updates

Hi all!
I live in Germany and would like to buy a RN3 pro from Aliexpress. I don't want to stick around with MIUI but would like to try out different CM-based ROMs. The community here seems very alive, but I am confused by certain things. So I hope you can help me :highfive:
1) Some months ago, I followed the news about the Mi4c. People were complaining that Xiaomi won't let them unlock their phones. Are there no such problems with the RN3 pro?
2) Concerning the official firmware: I read that the phones come either with a Chinese or international firmware (or sometimes even bloated by retailers), and each has a hundred of version numbers. Are all versions possible to unlock? Or do I need a particular version to be able to root/unlock bootloader/flash a custom ROM?
3) Are there any differences between the 2/16 gig and the 3/32 gig version of the RN3pro apart from RAM/storage?
4) Is Xposed working fine on CM-based ROMs?
Best regards
1. I spent around a month to get it officially unlocked, till then I unlocked unofficially in few mins. But if you unofficially unlock whenever you flash a rom you must be more conscious and read every step that's given by Developer or else you will end up bricking your device(don't worry there are solutions for very bricking scenario) . So if this is not a concern you can buy
2. Whatever the firmware phone may come with you can flash MIUI global firmware and unlock it from there.
3. Nope not that I know of.
4. Yes it's working.
Welcome to the community.

1)as an unlock reason I pasted some chineese text found in the Internet and after 1 week I got my unlock code. So no problem there
2)Developer rom is recommended for that, but I think that the never versions of stable build also support unlocking. Anyway, it's easy to install developer rom with locked bootloader
3)nope
4)yep

1) If the phone is updated to the latest firmware (7.3.2 at the time of writting) then the bootloader unlocking process time will depend on how long it takes them to approve the permission for you (got my phone on Tuesday and unlocked it today).
2)Yes all are eligible, but you have to be on the latest one. Likely you will get with an outdated Chinese rom and will have to update via MIUI updater (or similar name of the official software). I also suggest looking for the phone from else where, like here in the EU (think ebay.ie had some cheap ones), since i had to pay an extra 50eur for taxes and expenses (am from Lithuania).
3) No idea, likely none. I got the 3gb version because it's more future proof and can upload 2 videos at the same time vie desktop version of facebook. Also the software itself uses about a gig of ram. Plus it's doesn't cost that much more and a gig of ram makes a difference.
4) No idea, wasn't a fan of xpossed before and am not planing to become one.

Yes it works. Make sure to use MIUI Xposed version. Google it.
Well i bought mi redmi note 3 kenzo in sort of thinking that it must posses some high level dev activities, but now i am thinking that i proved wrong, even after 4 months of launching this device ,it yet not get official cm support or any stable cm rom .every time when i open rn3 thread found every build has lot of bugs like
1.mic and speaker error
2.earphone bug
3.bt mac and other mac address diff.
4.unstable rils like wifi as reported by testers
5.camera fc errors
6.different fing. Sen. Remain unrecog.
7.proximity sensor error
8.sim related issues like volte and sim switch problems
9.battery bug
10.min. Brightness bug in rr latest 2-07-2016 build
11.and many others like media codecs bug,mtp transfer file bug
12.low quality camera
Even after this devs release them as stable daily driving . Why its development is too slow even at this earlier stage ?????
I dont know what will happen later on.... With this device
Never seen such issues in prior mi devices or other released phones .
Even mi devs seems less interested in this device (thats why they released miui 8 on 5.1 rather than 6.0.1)
After a big positive responses in sales of this device from buyers ,why they seems drawing back supports for global ones, even after being global one co. ,it remains stucked majorly with chinese .at least they should take care of indian market which warmly accepted and reposed in xiaomi .

There are many [unoffical/official]roms as of now , that are stable on 6.0.1 . Flash the roms yourself and then try it . Dont make decisions on the comments/replies on the tread itself . Building a stable rom is very time consuming and CM maintains roms of more than 1000+ devices , please wait until they decide to make it stable .

I am running Krexus BUILD-3 and I have none of the above bugs. Everything is running perfectly. Before, I was on Krexus BUILD-1 and even that was very stable, beside the Mobile Network FC bug.
Just want to ask if it still locks bootloader if we flash any cm13 or cm13 based roms? Or even aosp roms? This is the reason I am uet to flash any custom rom.

Just try it yourself.
You never know if you not try these ROMs.

This is old thread
CM13 snapshot by thestrix is the best imo...
Nexus Experience is cool too + ressurrection remix
Hello,
I've read on XDA that Xiaomi is making flashing custom ROMs more difficult on their devices.
I've bought an original (unsealed box) Poco F1 global and I intend to flash LOS or Xiaomi.eu in 4-5 years.
I know about the anti-rollback protection and applying for unlocking.
I'm wondering whether doing or not doing specific things will prevent me to flash custom ROMs in the future? Or worse, brick my Poco?
Should I ignore and deny the update to MIUI 10? Will MIUI 10 prevent me to flash custom ROMs?
Thanks.
As of now POCO does not have anti roll back protection. You can check if your device has ARP by going to fastboot and using this command in ad "adbshell get anti" if it's <2 your safe if it's >2 your in the anti roll back squad!
As of now we don't have to worry about ARP this might be implemented in Pie update.
you intend to flash LOS in 4-5 years later? did i get that right>
Yeah. I might do it sooner, if I'll dislike MIUI. We'll see.
@karpacha I disliked MIUI so much on my old Redmi Pro that I got a new phone as soon as I could (there were no ROMs).
I'm not a frequent smartphone user, so I'm hoping this won't happen to me. I definitely won't be switching to other ROMs yet since none of them are stable.
From last 3-4 weeks Xioami not providing regular weekly update for Redmi Note 5 plus for global beta users.
Even low ended phones gets update weekly..... This is very bad behaviour from Xioami....
I think it's best to stay at "reliable" rather than "bleeding edge" OS because that's all you need. This is my very personal opinion btw

1.- There's no "Redmi note 5 Plus". Do your research and define if you have a Redmi 5 Plus (Note 5 in India, codename vince) , or a Note 5 (Note 5 Pro in India, codename whyred). This forum is for vince. If you have whyred, go to its forum and post there.
2.- Xiaomi always focuses it's development teams mostly to the china ROMs. Chinese developer ROM is constantly updated and then some of these freatures are ported to the global roms, but even in chinese developer roms updates are not always weekly. Why do you need a weekly update? You need a new freature every week? Do you want an unstable system or a build full with untested freatures?
3.- Xiaomi "uses" users that are running developer roms (betas) to test new freatures, bugfixes and to get feedback. They (and almost all OEMs that provide soak tests, previews or beta roms) only update these branches with new builds or OTAs when there's something to test or fix, and internal tests (fast rings or closet betas) have been successful.
4.- The lack of beta OTAs doesn't mean that your device is abandoned or is lacking support. It isn't equivalent to bad behaviour. You're not entitled to weekly updates, you don't even need them.
If you need constant updates or new stuff i suggest you to use an unofficial ROM like Xiaomi.eu
I am in beta global ROM

Actually I am global beta ROM user. I got weekly updates. But from Nov 22 I not am getting any beta update. Also checked on mi community there is no update for Vince device. They are releasing weekly updates to lower version. Eg. Redmi note 4, note 3....
My device code name is Vince..
Sorry for bad English.
So I possess a Redmi Note 10 Indian variant with 4 GB ram. For the past month, I have been using Pixel Experience Plus and it was smooth until the last week's update. Then it came to my notice that I haven't installed the latest MIUI 13 "Firmware" as the developer said. So I got and flashed the Global ROM V13.0.5.0.SKGMIXM (even though my device was shipped with Indian ROM) via Xiaomi Flash because Indian ROM V12.5.6.0.RKGINXM is still in MIUI 12.
Oops! That was probably the worst mistake I had made coz my phone had restarted at least a dozen times unexpectedly even while the phone is locked and unlocked (referring to screen lock) Now it's barely usable.
So here are my questions:
Is this a bug with MIUI or did I mess something up big time?
I use the terms firmware and ROM interchangeably but are they different?
How to install firmware via fastboot?
I know that was a lot of questions but please help me if possible because this is my main device
Thanks a lot

First off, don't try to make an update while the device has a kind of lock, either the screen or user encryption (not referring to in-built encryption).
Generically, firmware makes a reference to a specific build, this applies for any ROM, for any device out there.
The set of specific partitions, that are called firmware in the Xiaomi world, are also in any fastboot ROM.
But like the different firmware versions are usually available for almost (if not all) Xiaomi devices, in great part, thanks to @yshalsager, you can just pick up the one you need and flash it before or after (over) any (that supports it or needs it) custom ROM.
Just refer to here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firmware-redmi-note-10-mojito-auto-updated.4254017/page-3 as you can see, what you need, was there.
Well what i can tell you with experience might enlighten the situation. I changed my rom from global to Indonesian on MIUI 12. It was working very well no lags no issue infact i was loving it . Then came MIUI 13 V13.0.2.0.SKGIDXM.
my phone became like a sluggish snail. A lot of lags, different apps not working really hateful. There was no escape. so after bearing it was 2 months i down graded back to MIUI 12. Now i think i will stay there until some one let me know MIUI 13 is bug free
