[Help] Custom ROM help. (Can get paid) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.
I know I have old phone, I'm going to buy 6P in future and use this for testing.
So, my phone is Huawei G730-U10
You cannot get kernel source so forget about newer Android versions.
Its running Android 4.2.2 with EMUI 2.0
Processor is MT6582 or MTK6582 call it whatever you want.
I want to get custom ROM for it, I already have coloros and miui but they're full of bugs.
Most likely CyanogenMod but I couldn't find JB CM for mt6582 to port it. I'd like to get any of roms like CM, ParanoidAndroid and others.
If not possible at least give this phone full look and feel of Lollipop or Marshmallow. I can't even recompile framework because of Huawei thingies in it (It's exceeding too many bytes).
Help will be greatly appreciated, if it's too hard I'm ready to pay some amount of money (Not too crazy like 15$)

Anyone out there?

rk3026 Custom Rom

Hi
Welcome to what im hoping will become a popular project amongst owners of Rockchip devices. Over at rkDroid we are aiming to create the first custom rom for the rk3026.
We really are starting at the bottom with this one as there is so little info available about these devices. The aim will be a 2 stage project :
Stage 1 : Cooked stock rom
Stage 2 : KitKat
We want to get as many people involved as we can. This means addressing ALL levels of skill. This is why there are 2 stages.
Stage 1 :The 'cooked rom' - This will be for beginners to contribute to. It could be themes, app suggestions, tweaks, etc. They all go into a custom rom and no one is better than another. Anyone can get involved, even if they dont have a Rockchip device. Icons, Themes, etc. They ALL count.
Stage 2 :'KitKat' - I have the source for the kernel and Android build for KK on the 3026. This means we can (in theory) build KK for it. Rockchip released a press release a few months ago saying the 3188 & 3026 WILL get KK. So far the 3026 has been lacking in this. rkDroid aims to bridge that gap and get a KK build out there for these devices. Im no pro when it comes to building Android or kernels. Ive done a few but im in no way a 'guru'. Im also not stupid. This stage of the project WILL require people with some knowledge of building Android, etc.
Overall, the aim of rkDroid is to bring Rockchip device users together to share info, solve problems, build roms, etc. Our site aims to be a popular resource for Rockchip tablets (No TV sticks or Mini PCs yet, sorry guys).
We dont only support the rk3026, We also have info/roms/etc for the other Rockchip devices like the rk3066, rk3188, etc. We will be aiming to create roms for these too once we get more support.
The bottom line is that if you own a Rockchip device and want to be involved in creating a custom rom for it then get involved with us. Whatever level you are at you can have an input in this project and we welcome everyone. n00b or bo$$, its all the same to us, There is a place for everyone at rkDroid.
Let us know if your interested in this project and lets see if we can beat Rockchip by getting our own KK build out before them
did this rom can change size storage sytem
in fact on rk3026 MD706B tablet 8GO/1Go

I flashed your ROM from rkdroid here with 3.0.36+([email protected]) #69 kernel. Rom is really fast but only problem is that wifi doesn't work. If I try to turn wifi bar on it will automatic slide to off position. It says that "turning wifi on" but nothing happens. I can't flash my stock rom back because my TWRP backup is corrupted (system part is missing).
Can you help me?
Solution: Turns out that that my wifi is actually Atheros AR9271 so all I need to do was flash Oma Cube U25GT2-H JB v1.0 rom with my genuine kernel. Everything is working now!

"Upgrade" stock 4.1.2 ROM to 4.4.2, possible?

Hi guys,
I just wanted to know if it was possible to upgrade a ROM (for the Huawei Ascend P2) from version 4.1.2 to either 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 or something similar.
As you may know no one has developed any custom ROMs for this phone and at the moment we have nothing more than a P6 ROM running on the P2 (which excludes functionality of getting signal, speaker audio, headphone audio and lacks the functionality of the actual buttons on the phone, the ones below the screen)
If this was possible could someone give me some pointers on how to do it? All I need is like a reference guide or tutorial.. I don't mind doing the work myself as I want to get into android development. I consider this my 1st project.
Thank you.

Most likely Huawei never put out the source code for it meaning unless there is a sister phone to it you can port from then not much else to do.

CM 13 on the Mediatek

Can i possibly know why devices owning the 6795 like the rn3 won't upgrade to CM13 ? What do the devs require so much that they can't port CM13 to the mediatek version ? I'm afraid i'm not aware of this version so much, but does it properly need android M in order to run ?
Mediatek phones are generally far more difficult to develop for because they don't like to release kernel sources and they are built for generic phones so they don't work as well
Mediatek development most currently are porting roms that is the same base as the original. If it came out with 5.0.2 then the max version for a custom rom is probably 5.1.1 and its harder to port higher android OS without any sources.
Oh, i see.. So mostly is because of the phone devs that won't release certain codes and whatever you need in order to develop the rom, right ?
Yeah blame the chipset manufacturer.
I'm no developer, but what about this info?

New to this - advice needed

I have entered the world of modding and found my way to this forum because of Pokemon Go.
I wanted to give the game a try to see what all the fuss is about but can't run it on my phone - it's a blackberry provided by my employer.
So I dug out an old S3 I9300 from the drawer of old phones, but soon found that the version of Android (4.3 Jelly Bean) is too old. I am very IT literate and technically capable so I started researching what to do. I have now rooted my phone and have the following ROM and GAPPS files ready to go - CM11 (Kit Kat), CM12 (Lollipop) and CM13 (Marshmallow).
I don't need any technical help, just advice on which ROM to go for. Should I just go for the latest (CM13) or is that unstable and too much for my phone. Or should I go with CM11 because that is the latest 'official' CyangenMod release. Or should I go with CM12 as a comprise between newness and sufficient releases to address any problems.
My main aim at the moment is to play Pokemon but now that I have discovered modding I suspect that I will be experimenting more.
Cheers,
Nigel
I googled and looks like all 3 CM supports Pokemon Go but:
I also found out that there's no CM12 for gs3
Also, there's no more update for CM11 as CM13 is released, right?
OR you can wait for CM14 actually as Android N is almost done :silly:
But, for now, I would recommend CM13

How much of an endeavour is it to compile a ROM from source for a specific device?

I have a Lenovo A1010a20 (A Plus). It shipped with Lollipop but I'd really like to install a custom ROM. I have the bootloader unlocked and a TWRP image for it but I can't find it supported by any of the major custom ROMs.
I'm just wondering - how difficult would it be to compile the ROM (I was particularly looking at ResurrectionRemix but I could use another if it makes a massive difference) from source, to work on my device? I'm not too bothered about this phone, it wasn't very good even when it came out so I'm willing to use it as an experiment.
I have some experience with this stuff, but not a massive amount. Any help would be much appreciated.
