Hi guys, I'm only starting this thread because I searched over 50 pages and tried different methods already.
After my Xperia Z3C decided to have major issues on the screen, I decided to go back to my SIII while I try to fix the Z3.
My S3 is still running perfectly under cm-11, the only problem is that I can't connect any calls, if I try to make a call both phones rings normally, but when the person answers the phone (or the other way around) the connection goes mute, no sound at all. After I hang up the call the SIII loses the networks for a couple of seconds and then it comes back up.
Viber and Skype works, messaging works, 3G Mobile Data connection works with no problem, and the phone only loses signal when I place or receive the calls.
I upgraded from cm-11-20150901-SNAPSHOT to cm-11-20160115-SNAPSHOT, installed a new modem, checked APN configuration and IMEI, the only thing left to do is to Odin flash back to stock android, and actually I don't want to do that, I love cm since the day I installed.
One thing to notice is that the SIII worked for quite some time with cm-11 without presenting this problem.
What else can I do? Thank you very much in advance.
Can no one help me?

First, let me say that searching XDA-DEV with google is not an easy task.
Anyhow, I'm having this issue of phone calls being dropped after 2 to 5 minutes of talking. Signal is strong, bluetooth or no bluetooth. Uninstalled apps that recently got installed and the problem still persist. Is there a system log of phone calls, etc that can help me troubleshoot this issue ?
I have X7501 running original stuff.
Thanks

I would say it was almost certainly the fault of your network, a simple trick to test would be to go into the phone properties then into band and lock the band onto the old 2G signal instead of the fancy new 3G type and see what happens
PS do you really have an FM radio on your phone, does it use the Headphones as an aerial or does it just work !! is there any chance you can upload a screen shot of the radio app !
thanks in advance !
Hey guys,
i really really need your help, i´m running out of ideas over here
A few days ago i installed crDroid 15.2 on my Galaxy S3 (amongst other things i chose the boeffla 3.10-beta2-Linaro-kernel and a modified SecPhone.apk during the installation with AromaInstaller). I did all the configurations and was pretty happy to eventually have found my perfect custom rom. AutoRecord, no-delay etc.: everything worked very well until i had to reboot my phone for some reason.
Problem was now that i couldn´t neither hear the caller nor the person i called (in fact there hasn´t even been a dialing signal before the connection was established, everything mute from start to the end) while they could hear me perfectly fine. Trying the speakers didn´t work, too.
Making calls with Skype worked, though, and every other "sound producing" app was able to do so. I also could hear the "call signals" (i have to translate here, in german it´s called "Anrufsignal"), but not the actual dialing signal. By call signals i mean the notification-sounds that you can set to know when the connection is established and closed again (there was a third signal, too, i think it was a beep every minute or so...).
Long story short:
I tried to reinstall with a new Kernel (non-Linaro, Stock XXEMB5), unmodified SecPhone.apk and another modem in different combinations, but that didn´t do it.
Even a hardreset (which included a system- and SdCard-wipe, so mobile was superclean) followed by a reinstall didn´t work, the problem persists. Phone works fine until first reboot.
Now i got back to a rooted stock rom (filename: I9300XXEMC2_I9300DBTEMC1_I9300XXEMC2_HOME.tar.md5) and experience no problems so far, but i really appreciated my (nearly) perfect custom rom and would prefer to use it as soon as possible
I already tried google and the search on this site, but it seems that nobody else ever had similar problems, so you are my last hope to make it work :/
Thanks a lot for your help
Hi,
I’ve been searching answers to this problem but it hasn’t been successful so far. My S2(M250S) bought in Korea but I flashed with English version roms(now I9100).
The problems are;
1. Data connection is occasionally dropped off even when it shows the H or 3G symbol but only with upstream arrow lit. Nothing happens when I use internet(browsing).
2. When the above happens in the middle of a phone call going, I hear wind sound(shhhhh) only and the other person hears ‘nothing’. Then I need to hang up.
3. And I can’t send out SMS neither during this black out time.
I tried disabling Fast dormancy and turning off H/H+. It didn’t work. I have an old iphone 3G and it has better connection than the S2. Now I am trying different modem files but no luck so far.
I can bear data disconnection but it is so annoying when a phone call gets cut out. I am with TPG(Optus network) in Australia. Could anyone help me with this, please?
Thanks guys,
JP
Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem on my Xperia U since 3-4 weeks ago. Using Stock .54 ICS, or CM 9.1 (FXP 216).
The phone becomes unavailable (for calling) at random moments. When I try calling, I just get one "beep" and the call ends. When someone calls me at this time, I am unavailable. Otherwise the phone works just fine, except that data (3G) is not available.
This has led me to believe the problem is DATA related. When the problem occurs and I try to switch off DATA, it takes ~30 secs. After this, calls still cannot be made. I have to switch to Airplane Mode, than turn off Airplane Mode for the phone to become available again.
I work at a telecom provider. I tried checking the problem with our GSM/networks team, only to receive an answer that is most probably a problem with the phone itself. I still have a warranty, which is good if it comes to that.
I tried switching to 2G-only at this point, to check if the problem will occur again.
Any other advise I could use to detect what exactly is the problem?
Thanks and all best.
I too work at a service provider here in Bulgaria and i am a tech guy - in my opinion you must send it to repair service, a colleague had the same with galaxy s2 and he sent it to center to be fixed.
Hello.
I have a Galaxy S3 (I9300) with a Custom Rom and I have the problem that I can't make any calls.
I have 3G, I can send SMS but when it comes to calling, I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me.... it's like as if the mic and the speaker turns off, when I'm calling. It's the same even with a headset. I already tried different Custom Roms, CM10.2, CM10.1, SlimRoms etc. and always the same. Sometimes it worked, but often it didn't.
So I think it can't be the software. And I also replaced the micro SIM-Tray on the phone, but still the same. The signal is always low, but as I said, I can use 3G and SMS and even make but can't hear the other.
Any suggestions? Is it possible to replace the SIM Antenna? Or what else can I do?
Thanks for any help.
Have you tried a Sammy rom?
found the solution
Nope, but I found the solution. I thought it might be the Modem Driver so I downloaded a different Modem-Driver and installed it in Recovery Mod. Works fine now.
Thanks.
