Hi all I have rooted nexus 9 with custom recovery and currently running stock android 6.0.1 but I have update available showing up but the question is can I just update the software as usual or are there any steps involved ?
If you haven't modified the system image (hosts file/xposed), Flashfire app could possibly install the update.
Also a thread on it here.
Applying the update through the usual method will fail because of TWRP/root.
If mods prevent ota update, flashfire will flash images, also. You choose which images to flash. I used it for July update.

I received an S3 which was locked so I proceeded to root it and unlock it. My question is, should I update to Jellybean OTA ? I don't care about removing root but I want to make sure it remains unlocked.
bump
From what I read you can't update via OTA if you're rooted especially if you have installed custom recoveries. Or have modified some system files like radios. You may still receive OTA message but at some point of the install process it may fail. That is why it's best to stay on stock if you're planning on OTA updates.

I have OTA updated 4.0.3 (release5a) before seeing all the warnings
I then tried doing the CFW patch using the AIO tool and got Status 7 - am I right in thinking that is because I was a muppet and did the first OTA update....... WHEN WILL I LEARN?????
Now google play would not download anything, now its working.
It is now asking to OTA the same version, will I lose my root? is it worth updating or is it just the fake OTA updates I was warned about when trying to put the CFW on?
Just checked my root and it works.
I still have android 4.4.2 on my device cuz my phone is rooted and i have heard i will loose root if i upgrade to 4.4.4. I simply don't want to root again. I have super su pro and survival mode is enabled. I also have xposed framework installed with gravity box and greenify modules. I have heard i can't upgrade unless i uninstall xposed. So my question is, can i upgrade without losing root n having xposed? Has anybody successfully done it? N yeah i have twrp recovery.
Thanks in advance
Has anybody got the stock firmware of Moto E Indian version? The file is named "Android 4.4.2
Blur_Version.20.11.14.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03" and can be downloaded from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=34
But that site doesn't support resume and is slow as hell and download always fails and restarts from the beginning. So it's literally impossible for me to download from there. Either give me an alternative link to that file (Googled a lot, found no mirror) or someone please kindly extract recovery.img from the ZIP of the firmware and post it here.
Thanks in advance.
I know I have to reflash stock recovery in order to be able to upgrade to 4.4.4.
I have manually flashed the 4.4.4 version of android using TWRP and using the OTA update from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/4-4-4-ota-update-zip-file-t2811397 which has been modified and made flashable with TWRP. Many thanks to Gogeta.
Problem is sorted out.

Hey guys
I've been running 4.4.2 for like a freaking year (yeah I have), and I see everyone upgrading to Lollipop on their Note 3. When I go and check for an update, it says I've already installed the latest version.
I am running stock 4.4.2 with 3.4.0-1955971 kernel.
I could always just wipe it and install a ROM, but I don't want to lose my files, apps, etc. I see plenty of people who got the update through OTA (like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ting-lollipop-ota-update-sprint-note-t3076813 ).
How do I get the OTA update on my Note 3, so I don't have to wipe everything?
Thanks!
Update: I installed a stock ROM going through this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/finally-official-5-0-firmware-galaxy-t3029557
I am now on 5.0 stock, and all my apps are intact
I was hoping to install a custom rom as well but the way I rooted it last time it soft bricked, I used kingroot
Did you use the desktop or via the app on the phone? The app on the phone plus using SuperSU Me Pro should work. Otherwise, you will have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 NB1 update and root that then update via process mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-update-to-i337oc3-5-0-1-keeproot-t3075814
Reference 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/root-att-s4-5-0-1-t3165816
Note - there are multiple security updates for 5.0.1 so you should read through that thread.
