Today I was restoring stock so that I could get the 6.0 OTA, and in Xperifirm my UK carrier specific firmware just happened to be marshmallow. It installed fine (There was one error but I don't think it impacted anything). Everything is great except WiFI.
I have a pretty awful connection to my WiFi, not unusable but it seems to be on the edge of the connection dropping at points. I used to get constant 3-4 bars, however now I intermittently get 0-3 (usually 1-2) and I've had the connection drop once. Ive factory reset and its still bad.
Any ideas?

you probably flashed a different region ftf which include a different modem for wifi and others connexions, flash your corresponding ftf region.

yep.
Same here..WiFi signal ? seems to be weaker than before...E2312.
My problem with Wifi on MM is it is slow, pages take forever to open, searching the web i found out that this is a common problem with a lot of devices on 6.0.1, the only thing that helps is an app from the store DNSet, when active i have super fast wifi, when off slow and lagging.

I have noticed that once the signal is lost, sometimes the xperia mini can't find the signal again. You are left with the little yellow triangle in the notification bar, but until you toggle the radio on and off, it will not find the network! Or is it just mine, latest firmware on 3 in the uk.
I have not noticed complete loss of signal but even if its laying still on my desk it keeps going between GSM and UMTS for no reason at all (xperia mini pro model). My old X10 mini pro on the same spot on the desk was rock solid on UMTS.
I also noticed that it sorta gives up searching for a signal after a while. I guess it's good in the sense that it'll save battery...

Same here, also on 3 network in UK. Actually it's on my OH phone so it's imperative I get this fixed ASAP!
She has discovered that it also affects texts and Gmail too, nothing is sent or received until the yellow triangle goes. She has discovered that if she tries to make a phone call (but not needed to actually answer the call, just wait for the call to start ringing and then hang up), it clears the triangle and the phone reconnects to the network again. Then she will receive any outstanding texts and emails etc.
I wonder if this is a 3 network specific issue? If so, then I am sure flashing a custom ROM and Radio should then fix this issue?
Actually, you know what, I think you may have a point there with it being with 3, cos I had major problems with this 3g H H+ switching issue on my galaxy s 2, it seemed to only affect some ppl on some networks, 3 being one of them, however, I also have a galaxy s 2 again now, and now, (a few months on) it seems to have fixed itself. A lot of the networks, it seems are rolling out software updates or changing actually hardware to get themselves up to speed with protocols such hspa+ so it could be something that irons itself out eventually. Lets hope.
I have the same problem. The duration of loosing network can be shortened if you set WCDMA or GSM only. In case of choosing both of them the phone switches between and can loose the network for a long time. But even if I use GSM only after loosing network it can reconnect after 1 minute and more. It annoys me in the underground - the cells are located at the stations so the phone sometimes can not connect to the next cell on the station during passing it and I have to wait for the next station for recovering of connection.
Hi, I also have the same issue.
Sometimes I turn the screen on, I see a yellow warning in the status bar and have no signal.
A few secons later the device is registering again in the network.
I observed that the signal is also not very stable. There are many signalchanges on the same position, between cdma and gprs (3g,hh,edge)
I don't think it's the Provider, because my old x10 mini pro as not the effects.
my Provider: Germany Telekom (D1)
my Firmware: 4.0.A.2.335
I have no idea what cause this problem. I hope it's the firmware. Maybe the rest can check if you got the same like me.
I have the same problem. Often the signal just goes away during conversation as if I went into a tunnel, even if I don't move at all and I am in the place where there is good signal. The call hangs and the yellow triangle appears. After 10-20 seconds, the signal is recaptured and I get full bars again. This is obviously some kind of software or hardware bug. It is as annoying as the famous noise problem and it MUST be addressed.
Yeah, I've got the same issue w/ T-Mobile in the US.
My G1 never had this problem...
This happened to me also with my ST15i mini. What I did, was i switched into manual in network selection from automatic and after which it never looses its signal.

I'll give that a shot. Did you also select GSM only, or did you leave it as GSM/WCDMA prefered?
edit: Doesn't seem like it worked... GSM only and T-Mobile selected manually, and I still lose network sometimes for no reason.
I also having the same problem on my sk17i...
Normally once I start holding my phone, the signal will completely gone
happened to me also with my sk17i.
Same problem here with my sk17i. That's really annoying!
Carrier: Orange

+1 for reception issues in Australia on Optus on populated areas and even in the open. Shouldn't be happening. Still on .368 but.
Same thing here in Australia. signal is weak and sometimes it gone 4 ever with the yellow sign !
3G signal drops to me!
I have an ST15 using firmware 42, I'm in Brazil!
Xperia Ray, 42-Firmware: Also bad 3g-Signal in Germany, Eplus!
I've recently moved to Hampshire, UK and got myself a Vodafone simcard. This problem probably existed already prior moving to UK but wasn't as noticeable as phone networks were a lot better in Finland and Czech Republic where I lived before. I often notice my signal being non existent or very low when other people with Vodafone but different phones have ok to good signal. I often also notice that according to the phone it has a HSDPA connection but no data is being transmitted, but immediately if it jumps to HSDPA+, data is being transmitted flawlessly again. I'm running the latest stable CM 10 on my phone. Additionally there seems to be similar issues with WIFI, other phones show good signal but mine doesn't.
Any ideas what could be the cause? Is the reception in S3 just worse than in my old Nokia E71 or Iphone5? What really puzzles me is the not working data connection with HSDPA, sometimes moving few meters might make it jump to HSDPA+ and data again transmits normally.
First go back to full stock rom, latest uk generic firmware and modem to test.
It's more likely to be due to your rom than hardware.
I've tried few different stock roms but the same problem seems to be present, still shows that I'm connected with HSDPA but no data is being transmitted. Any other ideas?
Check APN settings correct modem and CSC .
Would any of these affect the wifi aswell?

Modem, CSC and APN were all correct. My problems are with both wifi and phone network, could the problem be physical? Doesn't kernel come with the firmware, or should I try with another kernel?
You can flash a kernel or modem separately or as part of a whole firmware.
If you've tried going back to stock then hardware is the most probable cause.

Hi Guys
I'm on rooted stock Jellybean on a Z Tablet SGP321 , its all awesome barring the widely documented issue with Wifi, the Wifi being just about useless, disconnecting/losing signal every few minutes etc. Also for some reason recently it started not connecting with 3G/LTE, sees the sim and cellphone network but I get a yellow triangle notification error and "Selected network unavailable".
I'm happy as it is but I'd love to at least sort out the Wifi, does upgrading to stock 5.1 Lollipop or any of the available custom roms help the Wifi issue at all? Would hate to go to all the effort just to have the same rubbish Wifi after the upgrade
And in that vein has anyone come across anything to fix/help with the Xperia Z tablets wifi issues?

Wi-Fi was working good on my device since i bought it on all firmwares. On stock 5.1.1 never had any issues with wi-fi. Check your router wi-fi settings and channel. Cause many access point on one channel can cause endless drops of connection.
Also, try another SIM card.

I have tried 3 different good sims, all the same issue.
What can I check for on the router?
The router does work perfectly as it is with 4 other devices though.
This Wifi issue with teh Z tablet is widespread, have a look on the Sony forums, lots of unhappy customers .

I had the same issue on my laptop, constant wi-fi disconnects, even though signal quality was very good. I changed network channel, and it solved the issue.
Try updating firmware, as it also updates modem firmware. If it doesn't help, i suspect hardware problems with radio module.

Thanks for the input but I'm looking for concrete feedback vs anecdotal regarding the Wifi issue being resolved with firmware update, though I have seen people mention to try channel 6 to solve the WIfi issue, I will perhaps try that.
You did reply in the other thread with the correct firmware for my tablet for 5.1, its already rooted and if all goes well I'll update without wiping my data or apps so should be reasonably hassle free, I'm going to try that.
I have been using latest beta Rom 9.5.9, severe signal dropping issue, switched to H+, then terrible internet speed, anyway I am using Airtel, tested with mi A1 found no issue with sim .

Using Jio and doesn't have any such issue. But I have noticed one thing. Internet speed becomes slow sometimes even with 4G+ sign. It looks as if miui throttles internet speed occasionally. But overall, I am getting quite good network reception.

Don't know if this was for the same reason, but I was experiencing signal drops but only when I was home. i think it was because of wifi calling. Disabling wifi calling and voice over LTE improved the situation. Again, Signal was fine when I was outside. Only when I was home. Use the following codes (in phone app) to switch between turning them on and off. Let us know how it goes.

Hello, i have the same problem. I am in central London, with BT 5G or 4G and I never have more than 2 lines. I have also tried everything: repair the software, put the manual mode of network selection, it's the same. I think that the Xperia in general already have a small antenna because the same thing happens to me with my Xperia 5.
Btw signal bar mean nothing, they are just a graphic representation. What you need is to check the signal intensity in numbers and compare that to other phones, the bar are just trash.
Also i found pretty much every china brand phone to work better, and that's becouse the EU regulation about radiofrequency, they pretty much ignore those limits.
I bought Wi fi router from San marino and USA becouse they have lower restricted policy. The same model bought in europe suffer way more the wall inside the house
