Using Jio and doesn't have any such issue. But I have noticed one thing. Internet speed becomes slow sometimes even with 4G+ sign. It looks as if miui throttles internet speed occasionally. But overall, I am getting quite good network reception.

Don't know if this was for the same reason, but I was experiencing signal drops but only when I was home. i think it was because of wifi calling. Disabling wifi calling and voice over LTE improved the situation. Again, Signal was fine when I was outside. Only when I was home. Use the following codes (in phone app) to switch between turning them on and off. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the update. Try flashing the entire firmware maybe?. After flashing firmware, supposedly rebooting into recovery and then into system works better.

Hi,
My Galaxy S II seems to be having data network problems after upgrading to XXLPQ.
When connected over data, the phone will continue to cycle through 3G... H... H+... and repeat.
The connection is very laggy and ping will have about a 3000ms latency as the phone just does this over and over again. I tried using an older modem and it didn't help.
I am on three network UK user on gingerbread and my mobile network is slow has been for too hours.

Looks like a good old 3g data stall/hang issue.
Me too facing same issue, Samsung needs to fix this issue.
ICS XXLPQ is not fully polished ROM, it has lot of bugs & its bit buggy.
May be the UK version releasing on March 19 will address this issue.
Needs to wait and check this out
I'm using the LPE version and I noticed this too, except its when I'm on Wifi. There's two arrows, pointing up and down, the one pointing down is constantly flashing on and off, like it's downloading sometime, the upload arrow occasionally flashes, but not a lot.
Did you guys disable the fast dormancy by *#9900#? If yes, try to enable it again.

Hello guys, Im using Jio as my primary sim and getting poor signals in most areas with frequent fluctuations, can someone suggest a good firmware to fix this issue?
Flash any latest firmware and then flash AOSIP
Have a stable LTE signal

Port out. It's only issue with Jio.
I use Airtel and Vodafone on 4G and the signal doesn't go down like Jio. I don't think any firmware can fix it. I'm on latest developer firmware. Test yourself, use any other network sim on 4G in your phone and see if the signals fluctuate.

I dont think so, I tested with Voda too it was stable (only Volte 4G signal is unstable) but on MIUI it is great
Use CAF based ROMs like AOSiP or CitrusCAF to get accurate signal representations.
Other roms too get the same signal strength but they're misrepresented.

If you can, check the speedtest on both MIUI and custom rom. It'll be same. Atleast, that's the case with me when I started using MIUI and than moved to custom roms. I think MIUI fake signals where as the stock roms give you the real picture. That's why people think the signal is stable in MIUI roms. That's my opinion.
I''ll never go back to MIUI rom else I would've tested it myself today.
BTW: signal is based on MHz and JIO is not stable as of now. This is why Vodafone is working fine for you. JIO fails most of the time cause they are still not prepared with network, I don't think Volte has any role in that.
Every custom ROM for Redmi Note 4 SD has a bug that is making LTE signal disappear, you can verify it by opening signal info in settings.
You can see that the dBm signal stay at normal value but "asu" value is constantly spiking to "99" which causes signal indicator to show no signal for brief moment.
This happens for every ROM that is not based on MIUI.
Does anyone know what is the cause of it? We have sources released, is this a kernel issue or something else? It cannot be modem firmware since we are using same as MIUI. Can this be diagnosed/fixed ?
I remember it was the same few months ago, and still nothing has changed. I think it's the biggest issue and im wondering if anyone is trying to work on it.
Edit:
Best explanation: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76811230&postcount=157
I will mark this as resolved.

Does it actually lose signal or is it just a visual problem?
Might be a carrier problem, currently staying at a flat 49-50 in Singapore on Singtel.

LTE and data are of course always enabled on my phone.
The only moments where I lost LTE signal is when I drive and arrive at a place where there is no LTE signal.

This doesn't look like a cosmetic defect. I was on MIUI Nougat and didn't face any issues with signals. After coming to RR Nougat, I can see frequent fluctuations in network. Lesser speeds, much less consistent connectivity. I have tried changing the sim, compared with a phone running MIUI on the same sim, there is an undeniable fluctuation, with intermittent loss of data. This seems to happen only when data is enabled.

Yes, worth mentioning is that the issue is with LTE (4G) with Data enabled, i didn't noticed any signal issues or disconnections using 3G with Data enabled. Someone smarter should look into this.
I'm experiencing an odd issue on the SD RedMi Note 4 of my wife (ROM: v8.5.8.0 NCFMIED): where LTE signal is weak and other mobiles switch to GSM (2G) and are still reachable, the RedMi of my wife is still trying to get LTE signal, ending up offline for _long_ times.
I tried to switch preferred mode to "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" (mido default choice when "prefer LTE" is selected is "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS", which appears to include the Chinese 3G standard too) like my OnePlus 3, which never looses network, but it didn't help: the only way to have it reliably reachable is switching to "GSM only".
I didn't find anything relevant neither by searching nor by browsing the first 30 pages of this subforum: is there anything we can do to improve this? Thanks!
go to about phone. tap multiple times on total memory, a window will open up. open phone information 1,2. choose type of network you want from multiple options

That indeed solves the issue as I wrote, but I don't think that my wife would be happy if I tell her she has to check the signal all the time and, eventually, _try_ to manually switch to "GSM only", and go back when the signal strength improves... that should be modem job!
Update: the affected SIM was in slot 2; moving the SIM to the first slot seems to improve the mode switch. Still the sensitivity doesn't seem exceptional, or perhaps there is some other issue (1), but at least it seems to correctly switch from 4G to 3G and even 2G where the signal is weak.
Testing in "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" mode now (I don't need TD-SCDMA here, I assume there is less overhead with less modes); wondering whether is a modem (read: Qualcomm) issue or a MIUI bug.
(1) sometimes the device still looses the network where my OP3 seems connected with very weak signal (-105 dBm) and LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" (which sounds odd since eCFSB is a CDMA thing, and there aren't any CDMA network here in Italy AFAIK: could it be the way LTE Discover tells that the phone is unable to handshake an existing network?), until it reconnects. Moreover, it seems that RN4 tends to prefer 3G over 2G even when mobile data is off, which is not a good strategy IMO.
Edit: LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" also on OP3, which works perfectly: it seems its shown when the terminal was unable to successfully register on a network and stays idle until the next connection attempt
I have sort of similar and opposite problems in the USA.
Mine switches from LTE to whatever H+ is and then never switches back on its own. I'm blaming Xiaomi over Qualcomm.

I tried it, it worked if I used the root option and manually hit the refresh button. I read that the auto refresh only works if the signal is one bar or whatever or less.
My signal is strong when it's on H+, so it would never get low enough to make it auto refresh.
What I need is something that would switch my preferred network to Prefer 3G and back to Prefer LTE whenever I'm on H+ for a while, because that gets me back on LTE every time provided that there's LTE in that area.
My Redmi Note 4x international should be capable to connect to the 1800mhz band, which is available in my neighborhood. Sadly I haven't had 4g or LTE since I've gotten this phone (4 weeks) any ideas why it won't connect?

Thank you: started testing. It seems that, despite the better signal, even after refreshing the device still ignores 2G and tries to connect in LTE or H+ mode. I'll see in the next days.

Yep, that's very same issue I'm experiencing. I was feeling alone: in the MI forums I couldn't find no one complaining about that.
Did you notice that when the device connects to a Wi-Fi network the cellular signal indicator suddenly rises (it appears to indicate Wi-Fi signal strength) and appears "4G" next to operator's name, even if cellular data is off?
Too bad, if RN4 didn't have such a bugged radio it was a real bang for the buck.

Try to get some more info from the "LTE Discovery" app: is the device registered on the 4G network but internet access is absent or the device doesn't even register on the 4G network? Does the device detect the 4G signals?
In this thread we are discussing about the opposite problem: our devices don't switch to 2G when the signal is weak...

Unfortunately it didn't help: it doesn't seem to improve overall operation. It even asks to refresh the Wi-Fi connection when there is no cellular signal...
There is really something ill in this modem. Sometimes the signal indicator shows Wi-Fi signal strength instead of cellular. I hope some future release will fix at least some of these issues.

Thank you. I think it's not necessary: since yesterday I'm running MIUI v9.0.3.0 and things improved considerably. I'm quite sure the issue was MIUI 8 which had a complete modem mess, not the app, that was doing its honest work just as it was possible.
