Samsung Galaxy Stardust (SM-S766C) Bricked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
Unfortunately, I was an idiot and did not do my research before attempting to install a custom ROM to my Galaxy Stardust without a backup. Predictably, I tried to install the wrong ROM and am now bricked. Does anyone have a backup or any ROM that I can flash to my phone? Thanks very much in advance!

Go to sammobile.com register with the free account and then click firmware. Once you are there type your model number. It should be sm-s766c but to make sure download a device info app to check. Then click the button to search on sammobile. Now just download Odin, you can Google it. Then extract the firmware. Go into your phone's download mode by shutting your phone down and holding home, power, and volume down button till the download mode screen pops up and in Odin a blue box shows up around the top left of odin. Click the"ap" spot in Odin and select the file you extracted. Then make sure this is correct in options: box 1, ticked. Box 2, not ticked. Box 3, ticked. Then hit start and when it says PASS! you can unplug it. If it doesn't work or goes into a bootloop. Go into recovery by holding volume up, home and the power button and factory reset it.

I have the same problem @SpookehAndroid so I went to follow the steps and I couldn't find the firmware on sammobile.com for a galaxy stardust sm-s766c. Could you help me find where I can download the correct firmware? That would be AWESOME!!!
Thank you so much

[Q] Need files to update firmware

My Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android 3.2 is stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Tab screen. I figured if I try to change/update the firmware I might be able to get past it. I tried so many different things to fix this using Odin. I found an article with these steps:
Firmware Update Steps:
Run Samsung P7510 Downloader.
Check these options: Re-Partition, Auto Reboot, F.Reset Time.
Click PIT button and select: android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit
Put the Tablet into dwonload mode: ( Press Volume Down + Power for 10 sec ) then press Volume Up to enter Dwonload mode.
Connect USB cable to phone and PC.
Make sure that the program has detect the phone.
Click Start button to flash PIT file and wait to see PASS! word on the program.
Now click on Reset button and uncheck this option: Re-Partition.
Click BOOTLOADER button and select: BOOTLOADER_P7510xxxxx_CL317542.tar.md5
Click PDA button and select: CODE_P7510xxxxx_CL317542_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Click CSC button and select: CSC_P7510Oxxxxx.tar.md5
Remove battery off and reinsert it then put the phone into download mode again.
Connect USB cable to phone and PC.
Make sure that the program has detect the phone.
Click Start button to and wait to see PASS! word on the program.
After phone rebooted do full reset by this code: *2767*3855#
My dilema, where do I get the necessary files. I searched and all I keep getting are more links with the same instructions and file names. If I can fix the issue without doing the update, that would be awesome. I messed up when I tried to put a ROM with ICS on it, this one (AOKP_ICSROM/aokp_p4wifi_milestone).....Please help.
When you get stuck at that screen all you need to do is boot into recovery, wipe data/cache/dalvik then reflash the rom. Just happened to me with an ICS rom too.

If you still have a good image on your tablet you can indeed boot into recovery and reinstall that one:
- hold left volume button down while booting
- Now you should enter a menu, left for flashmenu, right for odin download mode
- press left volume button to select flash menu
- press right volume button to select
- wipe data/factory reset
- install zip from sdcard
If you do not have a correct firmware file on your device download it here:

i have tried holding down the volume rocker and power, as well as the up and power, and down and power, but it just keeps on starting up. is there any other way to get into recovery mode?
What phone do you have?
On AT&T SGSII SGH-I777 the correct button combination is vol+ vol- and Pwr.
Hold down all three buttons until the boot screen appears, goes black, and appears a second time. (In case it doesn't boot into recovery on the first screen.)

Impossible to offer any reliable assistance without knowing things like whether or not you're rooted, if rooted which ROM/kernel you're using, etc.
it continues to boot. could something be corrupt? is there another way to get around this?
i have gt-i9100 installed. it was i777 before.

If you flashed firmware for the I9100 by mistake, and the firmware contained the secondary bootloader, then the button configuration would be different than the I777. Is that what happened?
If so, then you should flash the full stock UCKH7 firmware which includes bootloaders which you can get from the Download Repository. See the link in my signature.
This is what i believe is happening. i don't believe that my phone is rooted though. i don't see any superuser apps.
If you flashed an I9100 firmware by mistake using Odin, you would almost certainly not be rooted.
Anyway, if that is what has happened to your phone, then you need to use Odin to flash back to fully stock UCKH7 Gingerbread using the full firmware flash that contains secondary bootloader and param.lfs files. You can find that in the Download Repository. If you need more assistance, just ask.
so i use this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20229527&postcount=46 ? if so, which one do i use?
and thanks so much for your help! i appreciate it.
Flash the firmware under the heading I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries. You can use either the one-click downloader or the tar.md5 file. The one click downloader is easier.
i noticed there is only a .exe. i ran this, and clicked on start, and it just said this:
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
My phone is plugged in and on.
Open the exe file on your desktop. Then put the phone into download mode by:
with the phone off, hold down vol+ and vol- while plugging in the usb cable. Odin should recognize your phone. Then press start.
i don't think that three-button combo worked for me. it turns on the sg2 logo, then black screen, then the logo again, and then boots up normally.
It's not 3 buttons. vol+ and vol- but not power.
Here are the complete flashing instructions. Follow them step by step, and in order. This is for stand-alone odin, but applies to the one-click version as well, except you can ignore the steps about choosing the file, what to check, etc.

How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:
Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different. (Skip steps 6 to 8 with one-click downloader.
1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer, but *Not* plugged in to the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) While holding down the vol+ & vol- keys, plug micro-usb plug into phone.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing.
Let me know if it flashes successfully.
not getting the yellow bar. it just shows the charging sign on my phone. :/
Yes of course. I'm moving too fast and not thinking.
You flashed I9100 secondary bootloader. Your recovery button combination is changed. Your download mode button combination is also changed.
OK. You can get a usb jig to put your phone into download mode. If you don't have one, you can buy one on the net.
Or... you can also boot into download mode using "adb reboot download". I havn't used this method to start an Odin flash, but I presume you would use adb to put the phone into download mode, unplug the usb cable, close the command prompt, open Odin and plug the usb cable back into the phone.
If you are unfamiliar with adb, here is a pretty good place to start learning about it.
hm, could i do this?:
BUT WHAT IF I’M/YOU’RE TRYING TO GET TO CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY?
1 ) Before the above you should have downloaded ROM Manager from the Android Market and Flashed ClcockworkMod REcovery. When it ask you what version you should select “Samsung T-Mobile GalaxyS2.” I know it says T-Mobile but select it anyways.
2 ) From Rom Manager you can select Reboot into Recovery OR you can turn your phone off and follow my previous top instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409769
No. Never use rom manager on the I777.
Edit: That link is from I727 Skyrocket forums. I sure hope your phone is I777 not I727. That's what you said earlier.
Another way to try to get into download mode:
Remove the battery. Hold down one or both of the volume buttons and plug in the usb cable. The usb connection will supply the power. Try that while you have odin open on the pc, and see if it gets you into download mode.
it worked!!!!
where is the tar file?
i just didn't apply any file for 1.81. what does it do, by the way, with no file selected?
If you used the one-click downloader, the firmware and Odin are both contained in the exe file, so you don't have to add anything. If you pressed start, and Odin reported success, then you flashed the firmware.

So that means you can get into download mode, which is a good thing. Go to www.sammobile.com, signup and enter you device and model number, download a stock firmware and flash through odin. Do NOT tick repartition or use a .pit file. Put it in the PDA and flash.

Stuck on boot logo

So I flashed the new Illusion Rom, the one that is 4.3. I know it isn't stable but I didn't know this would happen. So I installed it and customized it the way I wanted. I have an extra battery so I took out my current battery and put in the other one. When trying to boot, it stays on the SAMSUNG boot logo and won't go past it. I tried going into CWM recovery and wipe data/cache but that didn't help. I also tried to switch to different rom but it says can't mount any of my memory things. When I go to mount it, it says Error Mounting SD or Error mounting system and stuff. I dont know how to fix this so PLEASE help! Thanks!
You might have to Odin back to stock. Do you know what I mean? If not, don't hesitate to ask.

GT-S5830i not booting - after SAMSUNG logo

Dear friends and experts,
I need your help to solve problem with my GT-S5830i. When power on the phone start up and SAMSUNG logo will come but it will not open the phone.... again the SAMSUNG logo comes and repeats the same. My phone is middle east version and I downloaded the firmware from official site which is S5830IJPLK1_S5830IOJPLI1_XSG. Flashed as per the instruction in the official site by using Odin3_v3.09. Connected and added successfully but after sometimes shows failed. Please see the attached screen shot. I hope some one can help me to unbrick this phone.
NB: I tried the same with Odin3_v3.07 and it was success. Still the phone continous to behave the same way.

I had a similar issue(more than once) and in my case I split the myFirmware file into it's 3 individual parts using Cygwin and SplitFUS2 and flashed from that with Odin 1.85. You could do this with FW file S5830IJPLK1_S5830IOJPLI1_XSG. I also used the pit file(cooperve_0623.pit), but I'm not sure if it was required but point is, it worked.
I also got out of trouble with the use of a backup which although not solid did get me out of trouble. The backup would not restore so I loaded ClockWorkMod recovery and in advanced restore, restored the system folder from my backup, this worked and got me into the phone. However you may not have a backup.

I have done it but still this issue of booting up persists. What do you think? Is it a hardware related issue or still I can make it live with some flashing techs....
thanks

If this solution doesn't work, then your only solution is USB Jig.

Whenever I flash back my stock rom using odin on my Galaxy Ace, it gives me a bootloop just like yours. The simple solution for this is go to recovery mod and do a "Wipe data/ factory reset". That's it now reboot. It should work fine. Please try this. Hope I Helped
use Odin3 v1.84 for Samsung Galaxy Ace-i instead
Its working........great.........
If u want to flash then use "Odin3.v3.07.Cooperve" and also put "cooperve_0623.pit" in pit tab...........
why odin3 v3.07 can't detect my phone, my phone displays odin mode and at the bottom donloading do not turn off target, nothing happens..
