GT-I9100 updating to 4.1.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Samsung S2 (GT-I9100), the current android version on it was 4.0.2. Recently i tried to upgrade it to android 4.1.2 (I guess it is the latest supported version for this phone isnt it?).
I tried using Samsung Kies and Odin, but always end up with the phone getting locked (I get that SIM Network Unlock PIN message).
I even tried with the "Samsung S unlock" app, but it failed to unlock it.
However, when i downgraded to 4.0.3, the "Samsung S unlock" app unlocked successfully.
I have tried several things, i called my operator to ask for the PIN (but he had no idea what an "unlock PIN" is and asked me to change my phone instead ... -.-), i even tried to extract the "hash" from my data file, and i tried to crack the hash with hashcat, but it failed. I even tried to dial *#197328640#, and proceed as some tutorials has indicated, but i couldnt go beyond the "PHONE CONTROL" menu.
So i have some questions, im planing on installing cyanogenmod (android 5.1.1), would that removed the lock? (i cant try it now, i dont have the phone on me), like is the lock only for samsungs ROMs? or it is like HARD-CODED in the phone?
Another thing is, i was taking a look at where the lock functionality is located (in the source code), and i think i was able to find it in the "hidden.img" file, in an application called SecPhone.apk (odex), so my question here is, if i somehow was able to bypass this function (like always return true or something) then repack the hidden.img and install the new version, would that work? Or i shouldnt waste my time on that?
(And can anyone provide me with the source code of the Android 4.1.2? its a bit hard and annoying to navigate though the code on the browser, i tried to download it using the google repo tool, was running that under VM (as it only works on linux), and it i didnt have enough space, so it failed, and im a bit to lazzy to re-install the VM ...)
One last thing, while examining the code, i noticed that the unlock function takes 2 parameters, the PUK and the PIN, and only if the PUK is null then that function will use the PIN, so would introducing the PUK as the unlock PIN would work?
Thank you for your time ...

X10 mini pro useless.help!!!

Hi,
hope someone can help me.
I unlocked my phone using a program from a web. I guess it used omnius to do it. After that, I unlock the bootloader to install a new kernel using the msm7227_setool2.cmd option of SE Tweaker Tool. When I did it, I realized that the phone had lost signal so I couldn't use it. I read afterward something about losing sim unlock if doing this but it was to late.
I tried to restore it using seus but now I can only use not working sim cards. If I use a functional one, from my previous company or from the new one, it is showed on the top bar a symbol I guess means "impossible to read sim card" and the screen only shows the background image (I cannot use the phone even to listen to music).
I relock bootloader using RESTORE function on s1tool but it's still no use. If I try to install another rom like MiniCM7Pro V21, it gets stuck on the starting animation.
I thought of buying an IMEI unlock code so I looked for information and found that, under the service info menu, there is an option called "SIM lock" that shows the number of attemps you have to unlock your phone. I haven't tried any unlock code and the phone shows that I still have 5 chances to enter it but there is no [X] next to any of the lines shown and, for what I read, it is supposed to show it if you can unlock the phone.
I've been searching for information but all I can find about restoring lost signal is what I've already done.
Anyone knows what else I can do?
Thank you!

S3 relocked?

I have a factory locked S3, but my provider gives out the unlocking code for free. I put in a sim from another provider, got asked for the code, entered it and it worked.
I then rooted the phone.
However, after a few days I wanted to remove root and reflashed stock firmware with Odin. I searched out the proper file here at xda and flashed it. I then got an error about messaging stopped everytime I booted and searched some more. The solution was to flash with Odin again, but check upgrade bootloader. After that the phone works fine and everything is in place like it was new.
But, my phone has been locked again and my code does not work anymore. I have called my provider (leaving out the root and flashingpart) and they say that if the unlock is not working I must send it to them so they can unlock it.
So I have these questions:
1. Having done what I have done, will TriangleAway + reflashing stock with Odin remove every trace of my "tampering"?
2. What can they do to the phone that I cannot do myself with som advice from xda?
3. How many attempts are there of entering the unlock code? It still asks for a code. I do not get any message about too many tries. But I have must have punched the code more than three times...
I have read that people get their IMEI changed when reflashing, but mine is still original. I can not understand why the operator lock has come back.
Please help!
1) I believe so yes (not sure, I'm new to this forum just what I've read)
2) They can block the IMEI if the phone was lost/stolen
3) I am not sure with Samsung/Android phones but when I was unlocking my mums Nokia C3 it only allowed me to enter a code three times before displaying an error message.
It is not stolen or lost. I have bought it from my operator myself. I talked to them today and there is no block on this phone. It does work with my operators sim, but no other sims.
My question was that they can do to unlock ut that I cannot do myself?

Everything, they are your carrier.
None of us can generate unlock codes for the phone, they can get the unlock codes and make sure it's 100% unlocked

What about the Voodoo sim unlock app ? You'll need root access though. the app has also been removed from the Play Store
The dev's site, you can download and sideload the app from here:

That's not an unlock code though it's just temporary. A factory unlock is permanent (or so it should be)

I spoke to my carrier and they said that there was only one valid code for my IMEI, and that does not work anymore. It did work once, but after reflashing the firmware with Odin, the lock came back and now the code does not work.
Perhaps they just replace the phone with a swap unit? Therefore I ask again, will TriangleAway and reflashing stock remove all traces of rooting/tampering? If not I will get the phone back and be forced to pay for the service as well.
+1 for this problem.
I unlocked mine with the voodoo unlocker and was fine for a couple of months. Flashed a newer version of cm10 and was asked to enter Sim unlock code. This time I got the pin from my carrier but with that number it says Sim unlock unsuccessful.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a solution?
At the moment I just have a fancy mp3 player/camera :silly:
Voodoo sim doesn't work properly with then latest firmwarea but theres a new app 'Galaxsim-unlock' that I can recommend. Your'llshare find it over in the themes and apps section

You can try to use Valhalla ( Voodoo has disappeared from the Play Store ) :
http://donmacsblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012_06_01_archive.html?m=1
I've managed to get mine back to unlocked.
I was on cm10 and then when flashing a newer version the lock came back. I was originally using voodoo sim unlock but that wouldnt work this time so rang my carrier and got an official code which would not work either.
Flashed back to stock using odin making sure to use the network branded ROM i was originally on and not just a stock ROM, then enter the code the carrier gave me and this time it worked!
Guessing you must be running a stock carrier branded ROM for the code to register properly and unlock.
Hope this works for anyone else!

[Q] Can't Unlock my phone:(

Hi people, well my problem is that I can't unlock mi phoneD: and I want to change my comany so... this happen:
I get my phone like 3 days ago and when I putted my sim (movistar) didn't work because it says that just accept telcel, then I tried to unlock it but I couldn't so I decided to upload to another rom (the first rom was 2.3.6 gingerbread) so I updated it to 4.1.2 JellyBean (The official one, by KIES) ok then I tried it on it, but it doesn't work nethier, it appeared a padlock and the only option was "Dismiss" then I read on internet that didnt work because I have to use a rom unofficial or I mean... a rom that doesn't belong to Telcel (Because when I turned on the phone always appeared the bootogo of telcel) then I uploaded to Kitkat 4.4.2, nightly, being exactly, this one: cm-11-20140324-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip I downloaded it from the official page of cyanogemod, then I installed. When I turned on the phone after install it It appeared and option like the one before, but this time its allowed me to introduce the unlock code, it said "SIM network unlock PIN" BUT I pressed dismiss, and I searched tutorials for unlock it again, but I couldn't D: all the tutorials I found include Galaxy S Unlock, Galaxy Sim Unlock, but any of the tutorials worked, always I restart my phone appeared that message "SIM network unlock PIN". SO..... what can I do?? D: I'm not sure but some tutorials said that I have to change the rom for another one but I want the one I have right now. Please help me :'(

Need help removing SIM-Lock, possibly reinstalling Stock Android ROM

Hello,
I got an old Galaxy SIII (GT-I9300, Dutch Version) for free. However it appears to be SIM-Locked. I cannot get an unlock code from the prior owner, so I'm looking for a workaround. I heard that you can unlock the phone manually in Android 4+ (at least with European carriers).
Unfortunately, I immediately installed LineageOS 14 over the stock OS and only found out afterwards that apparently (jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-397) LOS cannot unlock the SIM they way the Stock Android can. Is this correct?
If I need to install an original OS image (I have a Dutch one at hand already that seems to match the phone), could you point me to directions on how to accomplish this? I use Linux, so the Odin tool for Window isn't available to me. Can I do this using adb, heimdall or something similar?
Thanks in advance!
Update
I managed to flash the old Android image using heimdall. However it appears I cannot use the *#197328640# method to get to the unlock menu; I get something like "Not registered on network", which is obviously true since I'm trying to SIM unlock the phone with a new SIM card (from my current phone). I also read that Android 4.3 might not support this manual unlocking anymore the way 4.1 did.
It's free phone for me, but I might have to accept that I cannot get it to work (for free).
Nvdata unlock doesn't work after 4.1.2 as it was patched. If you want sim unlock then you must pay for it. Downgrading will not help.

Question FRP Lock after Factory Reset: Confirming Account jst "fails"

Hey folks,
my girlfriend just sold her P6 to a work friend and I wiped the device and thought "thats it". (I even removed the device from the Google Account!)
Sadly thats not it
The phone wants to have a/the? PIN of the device. We never set any PIN (which the google account confirms). What PIN is the device referring to?! Its not the lock-pin she normally used.
Nevertheless the device allows for a recovery via phone number and/or the old google account. We tried that and the P6 even lists the Name of my girlfriend and she gets a login notificiation on her new Pixel 7. But after entering the Password the P6 just say "an error occured, try again." (Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten)
But it doenst matter what we try or how often. We get always back to that screen and into the "an error occured".
So basically we/she are stuck. Any chance I can fix it with some ADB command or anything (dunno if the developer options are even switched on).
Thanks
Bastian
did you try reinstall the stock firmware?
there could be a few different pins
P.U.K is an acronym for Pin Unlock Key
Some carriers also put a SIM PUK on your SIM card when they sell you the SIM card
SIM Network Unlock Pin (NUP) is a code used to unlock an Android phone or iPhone from its original carrier so that it may be used on other carriers
picture of the error might help

During setup, the unit asking for the pin refers to the screen lock pin or password that was used, and no other. You can try 0000 and see if that works, but it likely won't. If the error persists, contact Google and explain it to them. Only don't be surprised if they can't help you.
The only ways to fix this are as follows: 1) contact Google as mentioned, since there is an error in the process, or 2) attempt to unlock the bootloader. If you can successfully unlock the bootloader, then FRP should not kick in the next time the unit is started. If neither option is available, then ADB will not help you here, as by design Google makes it so FRP cannot be bypassed in so simple a manner.
