Newbie Help - Multiple Users - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Hey Guys
I picked up a Huawei mediapad t1 7.0 today as part of a package deal and I have decided to give it to my son as a present so he lets go of mine and my wifes
I have rooted the device successfully but now I am having trouble with Xposed and installing the multi users app. I have an error on the modules page advising me that Xposed is currently not active and I should install the framework and reboot.
On the framework screen the option to install is greyed out and there is an error "Xposed is not (yet) compatible wuth Android SDK version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a).
I have looked for a soloution to this issue but im hitting a bit of a wall. Im a novice user and im only trying to get multiple users so I can lock down the device to stop my son accidentally accessing anything I don't want him to.
Please help
Regards.

Hello,
I'm not an expert in that but i guess you need to run SuperSU, then from "Settings" check "Enable multi-user" option.

-what i have tried already
*superoneclick -> it stucks when i press root in "shell rooting device step 7"
*unlock root, it gives me an error "failed to get shell root, please use the services of our professinal root!"-> i bet they want me to pay for the program, program which id be pleased to buy if i just had a credit card, where i live theres no way to buy things in internet except if you have credit card
what can i see the "shell" thing idk whats that has a problem, its my first tab and i never ever before used android so i dont know.
any help will be thanked

Dell Venue 8 7840 - Here is a working Xposed framework

Credit for this goes to another user in another discussion forum. I just wanted to put it in a proper forum to help folks.
Please discuss your victories and defeats with your modules.
I currently use two modules: YouTube Ad Blocker and Greenify Experimental Settings. Test your Greenify settings one at a time. I have found that allowing hibernation of system processes causes an occasional bootloop. I think it's related to just one or two apps, so I'm trying to isolate those.
Xposed APK will be attached momentarily. I have to switch to a desktop.
Thanks!

I've been having issues with apps not staying hibernated (Greenify), and when I tried Xposed, my Venue 8 became unstable. I've installed your version; and so far, so good! I'm using Greenify Experimental and Amplify.

@urquiagal same here. Glad to hear you are having success with Xposed as well.
I hope more interest in the Venue 8 7840 comes our way. This is an amazing system.
I spoke too soon ...
{sigh}
A couple of nights ago my Venue started bootlooping again, and it wouldn't stop until I uninstalled XPosed. I wanted so badly for this to work.
Is the xposed bootloop issue just a problem with the stock ROM, or does it happen with custom ROMs too? I've never flashed a non-stock ROM on any of my devices, but I think I'd be willing to try with the Venue if that would let me use Greenify's full functionality.
Slightly OT: is it possible to put a Venue 3830 into "safe mode"? Not wanting to do another factory reset (still a pain even with Titanium restore), it took me a LOT of bootloop cycles trying to uninstall xposed in 10-15 second intervals. (And why does the Venue app list only scroll one way?) I finally managed to put the StatsOf icon on the primary home screen, change my settings to open the app list first, sort the app list so that xposed was on the first "page", and long-press the xposed entry long enough to get the delete prompt before it looped again. Did a hard reboot at that point and the loop was gone.

No custom Roms or development at all for this tablet yet.

Leave the Xposed installed, but disable the Greenify module. That will likely solve it.
No custom ROMs are out yet. If you need it, the Dell 4.4.4 factory ROM is posted in Venue General (7840 ROM, that is)
What is the best root method you guys have used?
Venue 8 7840 only supports tethered CWM at this time

@spotdog14 - The only way to access a recovery and install SuperSU is through a tethered CWM recovery session made for Intel x86 Android tablets - Check this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
On another note: What do you folks think about creating a generic Venue 7840 "Tips and Tricks/What-We-Know-So-Far" thread and compile this info? I would be glad to lead this.
Thanks!

That would probably be a good idea - it's all dotted around at the moment and mixed in with the other venue tablets.

A couple of weeks ago, I put in a request for a dedicated Venue 7840 forum. Here is what I'm thinking:
Intro
Guides
[**]Tethered CWM Recovery + SuperSU
[**]Xposed module install
[**]Format microSD for support up to 512GB
Resources
[**]Dell 4.4.4 CWM Nandroid rooted image
[**]APKs of Dell-specific apps (Camera, Gallery, etc. - whatever will work as such)
Anything else?

Awesome, thanks! I had some problems finding the right ADB driver but it all worked out. I ended up using option 3 and got an error about too many links but it still booted fine into recovery and I was able to flash SU just fine. The first two apps to install here Adaway and xposed.
**Edit**
I have a question, this is obviously an older version of xposed and one of the modules I use is App Settings and it is saying it requires XposedBridge Version 52. Is it safe to update Xposed from inside the app or should I try downloading an older version of App Settings?
I would not recommend updating Xposed just yet. One of the modules that I use is YouTube adblock, and it complained about not having the latest framework. It still worked, though.
The reason I posted this Xposed (found on another Android x86 forum) was that when I tried the latest framework, I got an immediate bootloop.
Fortunately, though, if you have a problem, you can boot to Android Safe Mode and have enough time to remove Xposed. Boot the system while holding down both VolUp+VolDn, and it'll boot to Safe Mode.
RE: Adblock -> That's my first order of business. Install FDroid+Adblock. It is night-and-day performance boost on Android.

That is kind of what I figured. I just wish I could get App Settings to work.
Also it appears I cannot get Xposed GEL Settings to work correctly either. I'm going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it later today to see if that makes any difference.
I haven't tried Xposed GEL yet. Let me know how that goes. What I figure we could do in the compiled 7840 info thread is include what's been tried and a "Yes/No/Kinda" section of how apps/modules are performing.

Sounds good to me. After reinstalling GEL settings worked fine. I'm thinking about applying gravity box next. I miss my customizable quick toggles.
Update, Gravity Box KK works, but you cannot disable or move the quick access settings for:
My Dell
Sound
Dell Cast
But from my brief test everything else seems to be working fine.
@spotdog14 - Thank you for posting your findings. I will roll this into the general thread.
Som sad news, though. I traded in my Venue 7840 for a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I really needed the pen capability. Nonetheless, I have the info I need to set up the 7840 general forum.
I am currently uploading Dell's factory 4.4.4 image as Nandroid. It should be pre-rooted, but if not, use the tethered CWM to install the latest SuperSU.

help rooting Rand McNally Overdryve tablet

Hi, I would be grateful if someone could help me root and install a custom rom on this device. Please refer to the 3 images showing detailed information about my tablet.
Thank you very much for your help.
hey did you ever get this rooted?
Hi guys. I am also very much interested in root for this device. If we manage root on this it will become extremely useful. Please lets keep the thread active. II havent been in this forum for a while now as I didnt have an android device since I sold my Note 5.
I suggest we contact any of the forum members who are advanced in these matters to assist us with the root for Overdyve.
I'm Interested as Well
I'm going to try to dive in and see if I can figure out rooting my Overdryve. Since they don't seem to sell too many of these, I think we'll have to figure out how to do this without a nifty app. If anyone has any thoughts/pointers/useful articles, perhaps they'd share them.

I agree with you 100%. We really need to stick together on this and help each other out noting that these devices are very few. In the event we are unable to root the device is there any other way of enabling Google Play Services without requiring root? If I can get support for the Google services I will be good to go. Currently most of Google apps are not supported. Thankfully Google Maps works as I absolutely needed this to work as the Rand navigation software is not located in my country. I bought this to use away from USA and so far the most disappointing issue is that Rand disabled support for Google apps.
I will read widely and support you where I can.
I bought the Overdryve 7 a few days ago and there is literally NOTHING out there to help Root it, install a custom recovery, or how to install Google Play Services. I have tried rooting it with KingoRoot and King Root but to no avail. I haven't resorted to such generic methods to root anything since Towel root. This is why TWRP is essential to have.
Bump :fingers-crossed:
Edit: Please delete. Wrong thread.
Still nothing new
I have the Overdryve 7, and 8 Pro... hoping that someone out there much smarter than I has been working on this. Eager to make these thing earn their cost back.

download dr.fone and you can root i did on mine it works if not first time keep doing it will root overdryve 7 or 8
overdryve 8 pro, been rooted for a while now, but Id like to get the OTA updates that ive missed over the last year, and i keep hitting a snag on the OTA verifier...
/system/bin/install-recovery.sh has ben modified... sha1 doesnt match...
there was another file too, but when I rooted, SU made a backup of the other file so i just switched it and it passed SHA1 check.... but SU didnt take a copy of this file for back up...
any ideas? ive tried changing it to a .bak but then fails becuase file is missing....
anyone have a stock 8 pro, unrooted ever, that they can turn on just USB debugging and try to copy the file original file out for me thru ADB debug if possible?
Or anyone know the ile contents for that file on Android 5.1.1 build LMY49I/N8_1_0_170516_275
I wanted up load more detailed specs.... I also have the new OTA update zip, like I said it just goes too error tho because the install-recovery.sh file sha1 doesn't match because I have rooted, and SU remove root and factory reset do not return the original file
Oops file is here
I just wanna be able to install Google play store. Anyone have any luck.

Snapchat login - One hekkin challenge.

Hey team,
Long time forum creeper and general tech hacker / fiddler. I don't generally post on forums but I'm hoping to nab some suggestions. Done a fair lot of looking already, but either turning up stones / outdated info / things that just aren't applicable to me.
Been looking to get Snapchat (and other stubborn apps similar) logged in on my device, honestly I don't even really use it and it's turned into more of a challenge getting it to run at this point because instead of thinking if I should I'm fixated more with the idea of proving that I could.
The phone is rooted, yes I know I could un-root it, stock rom, blah blah, but where is the fun in that?
Anywho the setup is as follows.
Galaxy S10+ SM-975F (Exynos)
Lineage OS 17.1 (Custom rom found here)
I have TWRP in as a recovery, phone is rooted with Magisk and it runs MicroG.
I have signature spoofing working with EdXposed (FakeGapps) and funnily enough I pass SafetyNet (lol I know, wassup google)
(HiddenCore for Xposed helps with this for those who seem to be struggling with newer devices)(Google is your friend "sometimes")
Now, I've done the obvious and sorted out Magisk hide, I've also tried RootCloak for Xposed with no success, again done the obvious install / reinstall / clear app data storage etc etc.
Does anyone have any ideas about what further detection methods they are employing? You'd think hiding root and passing SafetyNet would do it, but noooooo.
NB: In before It's some silly app I've left installed it doesn't like.
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
