Hey guys, is there any new exploits / rootkitXperias for the 6.0.1 update with locked bootloader?
Same question here. This would be very nice.

I also have locked bootloader (Unlock allowed: no; and also I would prefer to keep the DRM keys and warranty) however it would be great to be able to root it...

Can someone with access to the M4 run the Quadrooter checker. Hopefully these security issues give root.
http://blog.checkpoint.com/2016/08/07/quadrooter/

I know people are saying it's a security issue but it's also possibly the only hope for root for a lot of phones.

I have the E2306 variant, i've been reading about a new bulnerabilty called "humingbad".
In the page where i readed that i found info from a app that search system bulnerabilties and after running on my device there is four bulnerabilties
(cve-2016-2059)(cve-2016-2504)(cve-2016-2503)
(cve-2016-5340).
Correct if i'm wrong but for gain root acces on a locked device is by using a system bulnerabilty like those?
I think maybe with any of the bulnerabilties that i've mentioned before we can get root for locked bootloaders.
(sorry for my english if it's bad, not my native language)
Found this on z5 forums. I'm pretty sure there is dm verity check on m4 too.
We cannot get root because this would involve modified kernel (to write on /system partition), which would not boot using a Locked bootloader because of Verified boot process that uses an OEM key.
The whole process is described here: https://source.android.com/security/...fied-boot.html
Google intention is (or was) to allow the boot process, after a red warning, if the verification of the kernel image didn't succeed on a locked bootloader... But Sony devices bootloop without showing any warning and so the user is not allowed to continue (source: https://androplus.org/Entry/843/ thanks to the developer).
So, on locked bootloaders, it's impossible to have permanent root apps, xposed ,.... unless someone finds a hole in the bootloader (someone found a hole in Motorola's bootloader) or the OEM key gets copied and is used to sign modified firmwares...just exciting dreams.

There is not dmverity in m4, i have locked bootloader and i installed the update with an unrooted zip but i could preinstall xposed in /system and also deleted bloatware and booted correctly with xposed working and without root

Alright, if there is no firmware verity check, then it should not be to hard to get root in bl locked... just need to find an exploit in /system partition..

You need the unlock code from Sony.
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
Use the blu (bootloader unlock) function from flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Edit....it wipes everything so back up what you want to save, and a nandroid made before unlocking will relock. Use an app like titanium backup or mybackup pro.

Hello!
I am going to root my honor 7, but i have some clarification questions first. Hopefully someone could kindly help me.
So, this is the procedure:
Unlock Bootloader
Flash TWRP Recovery
Install SuperSu from TWRP
My questions are:
1 - Is there a way to check if the bootloader is just unlocked on the H7? (I remember the "hidden menu" from Xperias)
2 - If i want to update to MM when it will be released, i need to unroot B170 (is it enough to select "Unroot" from SuperSU app?) and flash stock recovery. Is this enough?
3 - why should i need the stock boot.img? What is it exactly? Is it the bootloader? Flashing stock boot.img back does it mean that simply the bootloader will be locked again?
Thanks so much for the clarifications!

1 - I do not wish to check it now, but I remember if you reboot into bootloader there is a text indicating the status
2 - You need to have an unmodified system (and boot) for the OTA to work, so it could be safer to restore stock system.img and boot.img completely.
3 - I don't really know, hopefully somebody else will be able to answer. Last time I did an unroot+OTA upgrade, I did not have to restore stock boot.img.

the boot.img contains the kernel, and this is sometimes modief during a system update, and different version dont wpork on a certain firmware
for example, b140 and b170 use same kernel, as the on-or kernel by @sminki works (almost, but probably) fine, whoever, for what i know, it doesnt work on b121, because the kernel is different,
the latest full firmware is b121, so to downgrade or to unbrick, you need to install b121, so the boot.img also needs to be flashed, if you want it to boot
i hope that will explain it better
also to root, you can use the multitool by @inside!out, if you are not confident, or just too lazy:

What about the bootloader? if i want to update via emui do i have to RE-lock it?
or maybe it will be re-locked automatically when reflashing stock boot.img?
last question, if i am rooted and unlocked, will i at least recieve the updates notification via emui?

Hello,
First enable Developer options by touching many times on build number..
Secondly enable 'Enable OEM unlock' option under Developer options, otherwise you can't unlock bootloader..
Unlock your bootloader following official way to unlock it..
Then Flash TWRP via Fastboot.. You can find latest TWRP recovery on forum..
Download SuperSU from it's own website and put it on your microsd card..
Enter Recovery and install SuperSU update zip..
You will have rooted M4 Aqua..

I solved it installing SuperSU from Play Store and reinstalling rootxperia again.

If you want download Root Checker Basic on Play Store to prove it's ok.

Will this root your phone or is there nothing available for that yet?
Is the zs551kl officially bootloader-unlockable and able to be rooted?
If that's the case, it would mean it's a much better phone than many of the latest flagships: sdcard, jack, FM radio, dual SIM, larger battery, stereo speakers, more complete GPS, good resolution screen, etc.

I am SO relieved to finally be able to make full backups!
The recovery didn't stick until I rooted the device (since you cannot swipe to allow system partition changes, unless you wish to be trapped in a bootloop), so if you lose yours, just reflash via fastboot it if you need it, till you got the root done.

Thanks dudeeeee lets hope this cheers some dev to do a custom rom
Hello.Method of getting the recovery working?
@GTR532 Yeah works fine, just flash it with fastboot and enjoy it.
You can link to download adb, unlock and twrp. And what stops working if you unlock the bootloader?
@GTR532 You will no longer be able to apply any of Asus' firmware updates to your phone once you unlock the bootloader. Neither via their OTA updates, nor their firmware downloads from their website. They change the product model variable so it no longer matches with the one the firmware packages check for. Though technically there are ways around that. So if you wanna do this, update your phone fully first.
I can't update the phone even if you put the firmware in sdcard?
@GTR532 No, it will fail. It's a ****-move on the side of Asus to change it, but they do it once you use their unlock app.
The recovery will then complain that the device doesn't match the requirement for the firmware package and cancel.
I haven't tried just editing that property back to the original value yet (since with an update, I'd lose my root anyway ) so I'll try that maybe at a later time.
It may be an unofficial bootloader Unlocker so that you can update via sdcard?
http://www.beritahuaja.com/2017/12/how-to-unlock-bootloader-asus-zenfone-4-pro.html?m=1
@GTR532 Asus removed the OEM Unlock option from the developer menu, so there is no way except for using their app.
Will there be unofficial unlock bootloader?

That's likely because the system is only mounted as r/o. You can't write there. But maybe I am wrong?

eh, no one does. The phone has just had its ABL for bootloader unlocking released, so, of course, there are no TWRP ports for it.
However, you can learn how to port TWRP into the phone (though, really, it'll require you to learn programming and whatnot).
I was going by this post further up the thread.
