Viper4G ROM Problem - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I installed the Viper4G ROM (Latest Version) and love it, but I have a storage problem on my phone, when I installed the ROM my INTERNAL storage has been partitioned into two parts, the first partition is labeled App Storage 15.91GB, the second is labeled Phone Storage 93.79MB. When I use apps such as ES File manager or try to browse my phone via PC/USB I can only browse the Phone Storage (93.79MB) but when I install apps it goes to the App Storage (15.91GB). Before I installed this ROM the storage was all one big partition, I would like it to be that way again. The previously installed ROM was just a rooted stock ROM if I remember correctly or some Liquid something ROM. I would like to know how to merge the two storage partitions so I can use my Internal Storage to the full. Also I have tried many types of format resets (Factory Reset) via TWRP (recovery) mode and have had no results. If you need my phone info check details below and if there is something else you need feel free to ask.

[Q] external_sd is on my internal memory count?!

My internal memory shows 9.95Gb of "miscellaneous files" on my usbStorage memory, of which about 250Kb is ACTUALLY in use. This 9.95Gb is what I have stored on my 32Gb external micro-sd. PLUS, everything I download or install, goes to internal memory, instead of usbStorage, like it is supposed to, and indeed used to do. This is quite odd, never before has the data on my external_sd counted on the usbStorage info, and the external_sd below on the storage menu is accurate, showing 9.95Gb used, and about 20 or so Gb left... never before have all of my downloads and installs etc gone to internal instead of usbStorage... This issues does not effect the function of my Note at all as I have not filled internal memory yet, it just drives me CRAZY!!!! My OCD brain cannot handle inconsistancies like this.
In a nutshell, I want usbStorage to be my default directory for all incoming data, and I want external_sd to stay away from my usbStorage data counter... It used to be this way untill I experemented with CM10.1.
I tried the following to fix:
* Re-Flash backups and fresh ROMs
* Wiped everything in every way possible on PC and on Phone.
* Even used linux adb options via my ubuntu 12.1 laptop.
* USB infiltration tricks via my backtrack netbook, to install a sudo-virus that altered the mount points, which or course bricked my note... I used adb to force it back into recovery and reflashed CM10.1.
* Reformatted what I could where I could.
* Reformatted and wiped external_sd as above.
* TWRP. Nuf sed.
What I am considering:
* Partition internal memory to old file system and update to 4.2 after the downgrade.
* Virus to alter mount points on boot to point to memory of my choosing.
After all this, my external_sd is working normally, but it just shows up in the wrong place, in effect, it shows up twice, but it only exists once.
My usbStorage memory has 10.84Gb available, but shows 10.1Gb stored there. It can only contain abotu 11Gb total, and I can still store files there up to 10.84Gb.
My inernal memory is full, as usual, but I can not operate from the internal sudo-sd for some reason, as stated above.
I am rooted, running UCLF6 modem, flappjaxxx JB kernel: build 12 with tools, TWRP 2.2.1.1
I have a stock GB backup, CM10.1 nightly from march 13, 2013, and my flappjaxxx rom available.
ANY ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Both stock Gingerbread and ICS have always been this way. Media files on the external sd card are somehow linked to the usb storage for playback so when you go to settings > storage it appears that they are on usb storage and not the external sd card.
Downloads by default go to the USB storage (about 10GB). Internal storage is for apps (about 2GB). I presume when you say internal memory you mean usb storage. But I am confused as your post talks of internal memory and usb storage as something different.
The storage screen has confused many. Just poor programming by Samsung. But it is as it is.
I just loaded 4.2.2 and forgot about the whole thing. Much easier this way.

Android 4.3 storage issue

I installed various Android 4.3 ROMs (Carbon, SliemBean, PA, CM), and in all of them the internal and external storage did not work, but I saw that other people it does not happen anymore.
Is there a solution for this?
Is this a common problem for the 4.3 ROMs? Common among xt910 and xt912? Affecting both internal and external storage? Always? At random? Or any rhyme or reason?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I am also having issues with when I mount my phone as a USB storage device on my PC. The phone abruptly unmounts whenever I start file transfer. I am using PA 3.99 JB 4.3 rom. I will appreciate any help.
I also need help on this thread. Thank you all: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45217945#post45217945
"insufficient storage" after ROM flash
I just flashed android 4.3 ROM on my phone (phone is Infuse 4g, ROM is CM10.2 - 8/30/2013 - Butter)
after I have restored most of my apps w/ data using Titanium Backup, I don't have any storage left (according to notifications and phone storage information - couldn't update apps, and several apps couldn't be restored (restore process stopped at 94%)
when I go to settings > storage, there's message "Storage space is running out", Total space shown for internal storage is 1.28GB, Available is 9.44MB,
however, when I connect to computer it shows that I still have more then 9GB available on the internal storage.
when I was flashing ROM, I had to go back to ICS ROM, (I've lost root access ), then 4.2 Rom, then 4.3. it warned me that it will re-partition my storage, and I may lose any data - I agreed, as I had everything backed up. now I don't really have a storage
I assume it has something to do with partitioning, but I have no Idea how to fix it, or what is the best way go around it. please help.

I have a xt910 umts_spyder, internal sd card works on first boot
after the second boot the internal sd card stops working, external sd is working normal
happens with every 4.3 ROM, I already tried to reformat the internal Storage using a 4.3 ROM
Also note that they don't mount in /mnt anymore but in /storage as sdcard0 and sdcard1.

thanks. I didn't see that same problem was listed already. will try to wipe cache/dalvic cache as it is suggested there. will report results later
it's really weird that nobody mentioned this problem on the developer's forum.

I've been using PACman V06 for a week or so now, no problems whatsoever. ext SD and USB mounting have been flawless.
As for the internal storage issue, when using Stock rom slot, or using a completely unaltered phone, the stock rom recognizes the entire internal storage, as the only partitioning are the internal storage, and the stock system partition. When you create a new slot, that rom only recognizes the partition it was created on as valid storage. This is to prevent changes to other rom slots inadvertently, I believe.
I have this issue only with some apps, titanium backup, root explorer are able to identify my intetnal. Last night I connect my phone to pc and the pc sometimes see my internal and sometimes the pc doesnt recognizes my internal...I use Slimbean for a week now. Its been doing great exept this internal thing. External storage is well recognized

I have wiped cache/dalvic cache as it was suggested before... twice... didn't help at all
also, in the CWM Recovery I saw that sdcard0, sdcard1, datadata, system and data are "unmounted"... I have mounted them all, but it didn't make any difference either (I'm not sure if it would even make any difference, or these mount/unmount setting is only for CWM Recovery, because on the next boot into CWM everything but cache is unmounted again
any other idea on what can be done to fix it?
here's another update.
I've flashed different 4.3 ROM ([ROM][JellyBean][4.3][Official]BeanStalk Build 4.3.1015 - Updated 10/27/2013 - 4.3) - same issue. next day I went back to stock, and formatted everything I could (all but "android secure") - it didn't help either. Now I have Ginger Bread, with same partitioning problem - about 1.2 GB for system and apps, and about 13 GB for everything else (I removed microSD card for now.)
I used to have all apps in one spot, and they would take a lot more space then 1.2 GB... now I cannot restore all of them from backup (Titanium Backup Pro), as there is not enough space.
I don't remember having such partitioning before I flashed it with 4.3 ROM
any suggestion? have I missed anything?

here's good reply on this problem from another forum:

the infuse is older than the galaxy nexus so theres no datamedia or mtp. the 16gb storage is typically called the internal sdcard (nonremovable) because it acts more like an sdcard and doesnt share partition and storage with the data partition. the data partition is called internal storage, which on the infuse is about 2gb, though a little less on cm10.2 because the system partition was made bigger for newer versions of android. if your having low storage issues on the data partition, youre going to probably have to move some of your apps to the internal 16gb sdcard by going into settings > apps > on sd card and moving some of them over. i would not recommend moving over apps that sync or run in the background, but if you have a lot of games, those typically move fine. i would do that until you have atleast 400mb of the internal storage free. ive talked to araemo in irc how hard it would be to setup datamedia on the infuse to combine the internal sdcard and data partition. long story short, rather difficult and it would be too big a hit on performance.

to support this, here's my story: I have already went back to Froyo, and saw that internal storage is 1.8 GB, now I'm back to 4.3 ROM, and it's 1.26 again
looks like I always had it all partitioned, but I haven't noticed it until system partition got changed and internal storage became smaller.
it might not be true for all other phones, as they can be partitioned differently, but it's true for samsung infuse, and probably for a number of other samsung phones.
I have tried CM10.2 , PA RC-2 , slimbean , and even carbon 4.3 but none of these roms detect my internal storage

the problem also appears on CM11 (Android 4.4)
i need to wipe the /cache partition bevore every boot
then it mounts the storages, but if i don't wipe it it won't mount the internal storage
so the problem has to be on the /cache partition?
Hi,
I though this issue was happening only with the 4.3 based ROMs but that still happens even with CM 10.2 ROM.
That failure is not happening all the time, sometimes you just need to wait after the boot and there is the ext-sd again.
yes i think it happens very sporadically
I've got the sdcard unmounted issue with all android4.3 roms that i've tried. Device is XT910 and recovery was BMM 0.3.4. I will use the phone with safestrap 3.65 for a while to check if it's a rom or recovery thing.

[Q] Rezound Root using liquidsmooth rom not detecting sd-card

Hey everyone,
I just recently rooted my phone (today) using the method (liquidsmooth 2.37) on the unlockr that uses moborobo and windroid htc rezound toolkit. I am having issues now that the phone doesn't recognize the sd-card. I can mount and unmount it on the settings>storage, I believe I no longer have internal storage anymore. Under Storage I see Internal Storage 2.34GB, then Sd-card 14.82GB, and at the bottom internal storage appears again but no space size is below it. I backed up my stock rom before doing the root, but it was saved to the internal sd-card. And CWM doesn't mount the sd-card so I can even restore to the original. I have seen post about flashing the stock recovery using the all-in-one toolkit. I am not sure have exactly to do this or if that would help. Also for some reason I can no longer connect (debugging, not engaging even thought phone says it is on) to the toolkit ever since I completed the root. I have tried connecting through wifi with thoughts of using the adb commands, but I am not comfortable at all using that method.
Could anyone help fix this. If I can fix the sd mounting issue I would keep the liquidsmooth rom. Also if someone can help me understand how to go back to a stock rom I would gladly do it as well. I have seen several post about flashing RUU's but I am don't entirely understand that process as well.
Sorry if I come across as a complete idiot, I am just not that great with this stuff.
switch storage for sd card
Hey everyone I have been looking into more into my phone. Just elaborate from my first post I went from ICS to JB on the rezound. From several post I have seen is that the storage gets a little weird.
On my phone I can mount the sd card under settings>storage, but the phone doesn't recognize it as the sdcard, but rather as the external_sd (in root explorer). When I try to open sdcard in root explorer it tells me not mounted or can't mount. I believe my phone and all its apps for downloading or storage want to use the sdcard link, but my sd card is appearring as external_sd. How can I tell my phone to recognize my sd card as sdcard (in root explorer) or tell my phone to store in external_sd (where my sd card is appearing right now)?
Thanks for any help.
Hey everyone,
I fixed my issue. After reading several post the issue of losing internal storage is common when changing android versions. I read to flash firmware patch. I did this and I also Read that USB debugging is an issue when super user isn't correct. I downloaded supersu from play, even though liquidsmooth has it built in. I connected to my PC and was connecting. Then after my phone detected internal SD card and said needed to be formatted. I formatted it within the phone boom.! Done!

This is very odd... I have to question whether the initial flash worked properly if su wasn't working, LiquidSmooth is very stable and bug-free ROM. What HBoot, recovery, and radio versions do you have? What "patch" did you flash?

Thank you so much I too flashed the 2.37 Liquid Smooth rom and had the above issue, with nothing being mounted under sdcard, at least in root explorer. When attempting to install some of my larger apps from the play store they would tell me that "APPNAMEHERE" requires external storage for some functionality. Please retry after ensuring that external storage space is available. Again when attempting to enter the sdcard folder under root explorer it would notify me that "the sd card is not currently mounted". Under the mnt folder there was no sdcard just external_sd. While under STORAGE there was sdcard0 and sdcard1. With sdcard0 being completely empty, and sdcard1 just having the files I had put on the removable sd card.
I didn't do anything about firmware, but I did follow your suggestion about reinstalling supersu from the play store then connecting to the computer. Immediately after doing so the phone recognized the sdcard and offered to format it for me, and I can now sdcard is mounted properly again and the folder can be accessed under root explorer. One of the other symptoms of the above is that if I went to phone setting then storage I could see all of my storage both internal and on the external sd card but there was nothing below the external sd card space, where now it has total space for both types below the sd card storage. Again thanks so much I had been banging my head against this wall for days as this is the first time I flashed a rom to my rezound or any android for that matter.
I'm glad my experienced helped someone else, cause like you I had no idea what to do

Mine is a little bit complicated..I'm running the latest liquid smooth rom, my internal storage is detected by file managers(root explorer, xplore file manager). But in the settings/apps/ the internal storage is not present. And liquid smooth seems to be the only rom with this bug.

Samsung SM-P580 - root, TWRP, etc. - PROBLEMS!! HELP!

HELP PLEASE? I have a stock Galaxy Tab A - SM-P580 - 16GB (2016). It is running Android 8.1.0. I am using a 200GB SD card. I am running up against the wonderful internal storage issue. I have less than 1GB of free internal storage. It says I have 7GB in Apps. I assume the rest of the storage is being used by the Android OS. I would like to move a pile of this to the SD card but am not being allowed to. I have read about using various mods that will allow me to use the SD card (partial or fully) as internal storage and I have read pros and cons regarding doing that. I've using ODIN and TWRP and I have tried several times but I get as far as ending up with blue lines and no further so I flipped back to stock. I tried another method but once I reboot I end up with the "Swipe to unlock" message and am not able to get any further with that so once again I go back to stock. Can anyone out there PLEASE point me in the right direction - other than buying a new tablet with more internal memory. Thank you all!
Hello, first you have to install this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-1-0-p580-oreo-t4048671 , then you have to boot on TWRP and install the adoptable storage zip that you can found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/how-to/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3507387/amp/ , next you have to boot on System, insert your SD card and look for the option to reset the SD card under settings/device maintenance/storage/3 dots/storage settings/SD card/3 dots/format as... Be sure that you have a backup of your data and the original 8.1 ROM just in case. This only work with 8.1 ROM
