I Have some question about 3D Maps in apps. I know JAVA very well, but i have never tried to build some Android app,and i think now its the best time to start . So, my question is, How can i build some 3D Map ? (For example the map in 'Pokemon go' or 'Waze'). I know that this is kind of funny question,Its a project that can takes years, so i will be more specific,What should i study to be able to make something similar ? What should i study to integrate flash(?) parts in my future app ?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my misunderstanding in apps development.

Hey im a programming student in my second year and ive been wanting to play around with some android development (mostly because my school doesnt teach java or php. Im pretty experienced with visual basic and C#. But my questions is can someone help me out with a link to or something where I can take a look at some open source code for some android apps? It can be as simple as tic tac toe I dont car. Im just basically doing some research myself. Also is eclipse the best compiler for android development? Thanks
You can find quite a number of examples under 'Resources' on developer.android.com.
You may be interested to know that Eclipse is not a compiler, it is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). What is better or not is largely a personal preference, but starting out you are likely to find more tutorials assuming you use Eclipse than anything else.
Source of pre-installed Android Appliaction is open. And you can program with eclips for Android App.
Sent from my LG-SU760 using XDA
Android is open-source, but not the apps.
You can run Eclipse, and create a new project from existing samples. You will be able to choose from a list (this samples come from the sdk, if you downloaded them).
There are some games (snake, ...) and demo apps like API demos.
And Eclipse is very good for Android development, especially if you use the plugin ADT tools.
I am more than happy to have all the eyes I can on my code. I would post a link, but (no rant here)...
AWOL: ArchWiki Offline

Tetractys Productions
Search for this on the Google App Store with search term "archwiki".
The code isn't great as I am a novice with both Java and Android, but you will find use of Activities, WebViews, Menus, using external Jars and perhaps a little more. If your scholarly background leads you to make a suggestion or two... please do.
Also... don't buy most of the books. They suck. The "cookbooks" seem pretty good and the Android Developer Documentation and Stackoverflow are your friends. I wasted enough money on Android books I will never read. Hope you don't fall for that too.

10 post requirements encourages low quality posts. Perhaps its a good trade-off, but from where I'm sitting I'm drinking HaterAde.
Hello,
i am new to android, but i have now a HTC One X.
My question is i want to learn how to make apps and games for android.
For now i want only beginning tutorials steps to follow.
I am going to Employee management ICT school, but next-year I get lessons in application development.
So if you start now, i can only grow for later.
So i want to know, what must i need to start, what kind of applications/dev kits etc. (price doesent mather)
and some steps in the good way.
Thanks in advance,
I suggest you to learn java very good. after you understand the OOP and other java principles, learn the Android SDK(if you understand the principles, its will not be difficult).
for java download Eclipse and java SDK.
find a good tutorial in your language about java. (becausse that you have Google)
good luck!
What kind of games are you interested in?
Are they 3d games or simple 2d games?
Which programming language do you know? c++ or java, maybe both?
Hmm, i dont have knowledge about java or something like that.
I prefer 3d games, i tought to use Unity3D ? is that good.
But if i learn some java it will be come good ??
When it comes to android, java is really helpful in overall.
If you want to make game 2D, you may make it only in java. Read about andengine framework. I think it's best free 2d framework.
For 3D games, it's good to use existing engines, also Unity3D (as i remeber, you should know c#), but there are many other engines (like j3Monkey). Some needs java some C.
Knowing only C/C++/C# will be really troublesome to create game for android.
android games need to know java, such as this for it makes the application
i agree, but...
you don't need to know java to make android game. It's undeniably helpful and makes life easier, but it's not strict requirement.
There are engines (i.e proton, but i wouldn't recommend it to use ) fully wokring in ndk and giving you - at the beginning of project - whole set of activities and methods required for proper working app.

Hey!
We know, that we can't run Android apps on Ubuntu Touch. The UT is a great operating system, but it has a big problem. It doesn't have any "neccessary" or "must have" applications NOW. These apps are the following by the community's opinion: FacebookMessenger, WhatsApp, Google Maps, a browser (like Chrome, Opera mini or Firefox), instagram, etc.
So, I want to know, that we are possible to port these (or any other) Android apps to UT, or not? If the answer is yes, i want to create a team. In this team i want to port Android apps, or create this apps alternatives.
Guess not much up in the forums
Request: Simyo Call Status App [Netherlands]
Hi there,
I haven't been on the xda forums a lot since the end of 2009 I believe but, since Canonical announced Ubuntu Touch this year, I have my reasons to pick up browsing the forums again. The Ubuntu Touch region, specifically.
Now, you were asking if there's any Android Apps to port to Ubuntu Touch.
I have a request that might not be of interest to a lot of people but will get pretty important to me once a 'user version' of Ubuntu Touch is released:
Simyo Netherlands provides an App to check your current "Belstatus" or call status.
This app provides me (on my iPhone) with the current remaining minutes/sms messages and remaining data (megabyte) for the current month within the contract.
Below the link to the Android equivalent in the Play Store, which might be portable to an Ubuntu Touch app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.simyo.mijnsimyo
Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in doing.
I might be of some help being a C# programmer, but I still need to check out the Ubuntu Touch SDK (my HTML5 and QML knowledge is poor) and that's something I won't be able to very soon....

I have a little bit of C# knowledge, but i'm good in HTML5, so this is a good beginning i think.

You can port any already existing apps that are found on Android, you just need the API from the app developers.

is there some porting apps like Command Tools in Blackberry OS10

No, there's no tool like that for Ubuntu Touch (yet?).
I'd be willing to port my Android apps to Ubuntu touch. Does the work need to be done from scratch? Is there a simpler way to port a java, native, android app to Ubuntu?
I can't contribute anything app-wise, but this sounds like a really good idea; best of luck!
Ubuntu-Touch must LIVE! I have use it and it is cool system. Some problems with applications time to time appeares. And it is very hard find developers for apps. But I think if required apps appeares -- more people move to UT. And first of all that system must use NOT for games.

Till last some years UT has some changes. For example appears OpenVPN network manager in a base apps. But unfortunately that feature with unresolved bugs. Also I didn't find any browsers like QupZilla/Mozilla FireFox or Lynx. So As for me we required updated OS for first. And normal browser. Current versions of browsers are unusable. That i big part of work. For that required powerful developers group. I try to compile and run some examples to UT but unfortunately unsuccessful. But I try. Who also try do something but with successful result?
First of all, I dont know if this is the right forum to post the thread.. Honestly I could not find a better place..
So.. I have an app idea but am nowhere near to an developer.. Though I understand basic Java, app development is a distant dream for me :silly:
...Its basically an app with which a user can plan out their evening... the whole idea is in a very rudimentary stage...
Now to my question:
How difficult is it to code an application which looks at Google Maps and Other Google Databases to get details such as
1. Movies running in the city with their timings
2. Restaurants in a location along with their timings and ratings.
And also is there any permissions to be acquired for this data retrieval from Google
First I'm sorry for my English's mistakes,I'm brazilian. There are a long time ago that I already knew about xda site but I just joined in it now because I need a lot help into apk development.I develop games in Construct 2(paid) for Android but when I finish my game in the program I get a HTML version of it and sent to Adobe Phonegap because like this I can get a apk without the boring problems of make it in ConcoonJS.My problem is when it get back the apk because the apk comes just like a ''raw'' project. What I want to mean is that the apk by the way doesn't come with a icon/logo(I think that like this it must come without the name of the company for instance too-n other words just a apk with a log ''build app'' and the game). In Unity we can put icon, name of company, compatibity and another things but I prefer to make in Construct my game because Unity is more complex than.SO what I want is a program that can give these informations for my developeds apks.
Thanks A LOT to everybody that answers my question!
Instead of using PhoneGap, try to use Intel XDK and use Crosswalk as the wrapper for the game. Much less issues and you have better control over versions and plugins. Plus, it's free for unlimited apps, unlike phonegap.
