Hello, i just bought an android tv box (nexbox a95x). It comes with a remote that has a "kodi" button on it, that starts the app Kodi when pressed. Thing is i don't use kodi and i would rather it start a different app. Is there a way to change either what the tvbox does when it receives the signal from the remote or change the other app's id or something to make the tvbox think it's kodi and start it ?
Any solutions?

Hi All,
I've bought this Android box from Amazon : "Xsbox S805 - Android Smart Tv Box Amlogic Quad-core 1g/8g 1080p Wi-fi Network Xbmc Kodi 14.0 H.265 Android 4.4 Tv Player Black". Unfortunately as I have just registered I can't post a link.
I've connected a wireless USB mouse and keyboard and it works fine. However, whenever I press the G key the browser pops up. Even if I am on a web page searching for something when the G key is pressed another browser window is opened. Somehow it would appear that the key has been programmed as a shortcut. Has anyone else encountered this problem and knows how to remove/ fix it? I've looked through all the settings and I can't find anything. Google also has on this occassion has not been my friend.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Old thread but since went unanswered, here's a good guide to customizing your android keyboard mappings..

Hi all,
It took me a lot of time to find out how to setup my Logitech Harmony remote with my M8S amlogic S812 TV Box. My goal was to link more keys of the Harmony to keys in Kodi. Finally I found the solution on the net and want to share it for others who are struggling with this as well.
The solution should also work for M8 amlogic S802 boxes and perhaps with other boxes that have an build-in IR receiver that uses the NEC protocol.
You need access to the /system partition on the box. Use a root filemanager or setup a ssh server (quicksshd works for me.)
All steps are also explained in the attached file.
1. In Logitech MyHarmony software add the Pivos XIOS DS Media Player. This remote uses the right protocol and Logitech adds some extra keys additional to the fysical keys on this remote. You can link these keys to keys on your Harmony.
2. The All-off button on the Harmony uses the standard power-to-sleep function that doesn't work anymore with these new settings. You have to add the CodecInfo-action, which is linked to the POWER_SLEEP action, to the startup and shutdown actions of every activity of the Harmony that uses your android box.
3. The box uses a file to link the ir codes to android key codes: /system/etc/remote.conf. Replace /system/etc/remote.conf with the contents of the attached file (with thanks to Johan van Zoomeren who created it).
4. Run remotecfg /system/etc/remote.conf to activate the new settings.
Hope it works for you.
Joost.
Just come across this and just thought I would say thanks for the post... Works a treat with my harmony touch ?
hello. I want to start of by thanking you for the great post. i have a couple of questions tho and was hoping you can help me. i have the OTT BOX M8S+ which i am assuming is a similar box to yours:
1. what is the "codec info" that i need to add in order for the power button to work on the harmony
2. i want to use the colored buttons since i have an stb emulator. but everytime i press the green button my box jumps to the web browser.
3. also when i program the logitech, OTT box is in the database and seems to be working fine (copying the same remote keys)
appreciate your reply and feedback and hope to hear from you soon
I have managed to autostart Kodi whe the MXQ TV Box in powered on.
Now I would like to start an automatic stream. I have found some autostart options for several add-ons, but it doesn't work how I want.
For example I'll chose a stream from "1Channel" or "FilmOn" Add-On. After a power off the box should go in the state where it was before the power cut. I don't want to show any menus etc. Just the stream should start automatic.
Even if this is more Kodi related, someone might help me...
Maybe there is another option without Kodi?
I recently got the Mi Box (MDZ-16-AB) to replace my Charter Spectrum DVR because I have IPTV service now.. The slingbox I have that reencodes to a lower bit rate (I receive via mobile hotspot in taxi cab with slingplayer on amazon fire stick) isn't able to control the box fully. The custom remote bin file is very limited on control options (power, menu and directional/enter buttons work) but the back button that is greyed out is a button that gets used way too often...
I have a VPN to my house on my mobile internet, but yet the limited 'android tv remote' app won't realize I'm on a VPN and insists on me using wifi for it to access.. Is there a third party app for android TV that will let me input the IP or IP/Port info in to control it?
I have a 13TB NAS at home as well with pretty much the entire DVD and music collection backed up to it, with kodi installed and running on a second input on my slingbox, for which I can control over the VPN perfectly fine using yatze.. So I know controlling it should be possible.
If I can't control via this method then the only other option is doing fireTV and controlling via the fire app on my phone (as I can sign in and control any fire device on the account) regardless of being on wifi or VPN.
Vysor, paid version.
Sorry if this is not the right place but I did not know where else to post and I know there is a lot of the appropriate knowledge here.
I have an S912 T95Zplus Android TV box that I bought on Amazon a bit over a year ago. It is Android 7.1.2 and it boots to a program that says SmartTV Box and runs a version of Kodi 17.6 that they call KDplayer.
The main "problem" is that I have a 15+ year old HDTV Mitsubishi WS65313 that was from before HDMI. It *does* have one DVI port that Mitsubishi calls "MonitorLink/DVI" and says it follows the EIA-861 standard.
Using a DVI<->HDMI cable I am able to get the TV to display the output from the Android box. SOMETIMES. With a LOT of messing around. Once I get it set up, sometimes it will behave for several days, sometimes I will lose it on the next power off/on.
The max. the TV can do is 1080i. SOMETIMES this option is available in the "Droid Settings" app, sometimes only 1080p, 720p and 480p.
There is no way to manually force the TV into a certain resolution and the T95Zplus loses it SOMETIMES even though I set it to not automatically go to the best resolution.
When they are out of sync obviously only garbage is displayed on the TV. When this happens I either have to take the TV box and connect to computer monitor and force resolution to 480p OR manually switch (via audio receiver - sorry I forgot to tell you that was in the middle too) to a WD TV Live Streaming box I also have connected, the WD box then negotiates the TV into a good display, and when I switch back to the Android box I get about one second where I can see enough of an image to navigate the menus. After a few switches I can go though the menus and change the resolution back to 480 and get the Android box back online again.
The main thing I am asking is: Is there a way to get the Android box to always offer me the full list of resolutions? This way at least I could get back 1080i on the first try. I have tried all kinds of combinations of rebooting the Andoid box with the other stuff powered on, off, all at the same time, etc. Just when I think I have it figured out it screws me again and I am stuck on 480p until one day 1080i magically appears again.
I am hoping there is a configuration file somewhere, or maybe one I can create, to make it always display the full set of resolutions. I'm sure it has something to do with negotiation of capabilities when it boots up, but obviously the TV is very old and doesn't even have the ability to update firmware. The Adnroid I know can do what I need because sometimes it does it, but it sure is a pain and I never know when I will get the 1080i option again.
Unfortunately a new TV is not possible at this time.
THANKS in advance.
