Hi everyone, i need ur help please. I have a t-mobile vibrant (sgh-t959). I tried the CM on it. After installing the su kernel, it bricked. Now it keeps rebooting with the samsung galaxy s gt-I9000 screen (the vibrant screen no longer comes up). I can't even get to download mode by pressing vol up + vol down + pwr buttons. Please help me. I m kinda desperate ...

Although I didn't have the exact same problem, I had a very similar problem. The above link will give you more details about the problem I was having and how I solved it (thanks to click1's suggestion).
I could not get into download mode no matter what sequence of keys I pressed and my phone hanged on the "samsung vibrant" screen. IF your phone is detected by Odin or the computer when you plug it in (doesn't have to be in download mode and your computer doesn't have to be able to show you the usb drives - just as long as there is a confirmation that a usb was connected is enough), then Android SDK will help you force the phone into download mode.
If this doesn't work, your next bet is to physically make a JIG for it:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
From what I have read, this last one physically forces the phone to go into download mode by using the 5th pin on the MicroUSB key.
I know how you feel - I just got my fixed last night and my problem seemed very unique, I wish I could offer more help but I hope these will work for you.
Thank you very much. It finally came back to life. Feel so much better now!
downnload mode, I hold both volume buttons in and connect the usb and it I get into download mode everytime

No problem, I'm glad that solved your problem. I'll see if I can put this solution on the Noob guide so others can see it easily before they resort to making a JIG.

the newer vibrants are hardware locked so you can't get into download mode that way. This is why you have to use the SDK to do it.

Does this mean if the sdk will not recognize that the device is connected then i have to make this JIG Thing? because my phone is stuck at the connect phone to pc screen.

Yes, make it or buy one. I know who sells them for a VERY reasonable price. If you're interested Pm me for more info.
okay found a solution for now, my issue was related to ROM manager with the SD card, kept getting wrong MD5 Sum!! Really pissed me off about this since I was running through ODIN correctly,
Solution...
Updated the rom with Eugene froyo!! This brought me out of boot looping and now I have a rom on my phone so I can go back to the basics of flashing I hope, I am going to give it a try to see what happens

No...being the noob that I am, I'm constantly finding new ways to brick my phone. So tonight, I bricked it with the phone to PC screen. ADB can't detect it and neither can odin. This is FIXABLE, I tried the method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771247
Method 3 worked for me. Even if you have a hardware locked phone, I think there is a method around this which involves taking the battery out and putting it back in but I don't remember where I read this in the forums....I know I did read it though, you have to search to find it. Try these before you resort to making the JIG.
Hey everyone, i need help with my galaxy s phone, i recently thought it would be a good idea to try upgrading my phone to the new gingerbread firmware 2.3
the problem is that i used the version for the vibrant phone, dumb mistake i know, but it was late and i wasn't thinking clearly, anyways my phone is now stuck in recovery mode and i cant do anything.
I cant get into download mode to reflash and i cant select any of the options im givin in the recovery menu, is there any way to fix this?
As far as getting into download mode, are you sure you are holding vol down with no battery in as you connect to your computer? You need to Odin back to stock in order to recover your phone. (Just FYI, there is no official gingerbread support, and the two roms we current have on gb are CM7 and Kaoscinate v7, both of which are awesome, but not fully functional at this point)

thanks for responding artvandelay440, holding down vol button while connecting to my computer via usb does nothing, the phone wont turn on. I also tried holding down the volume button, connecting the usb, then putting in the battery and it just boots up and goes straight to the recovery mode, i guess my main problem i need to solve right now is how to get to download mode.
I check some other forums and looked into how to get the download mode to pop up when your having problems, tried them all and nothing worked, except for the command prompt thing, which i couldnt figure out how to do.
a while back someone did the exact same thing as you. there was no way he got it I to recovery mode after because of the differences in hardware between the fascinate and vibrant. sorry buddy
If you can't get into download mode, there is no hope that we can offer. Just to be sure, you take the battery out, hold the volume down key, and then while still holding it, you plug the USB cable in. If that isn't working, then you are SOL. What file did you flash, and can you link to it?

the command line thing you are referring to is using ADB to reboot into either recovery or bootloader by the command "adb reboot recovery" or "adb reboot bootloader" No such option for d/l mode, though i'm afraid.

I wonder if the vibrant has a different button combo to get to download, and if it is remaped to that. Just something to look into. EDIT: NO, it is the same.
Try doing: adb reboot download - It works on a Vibrant according to the thread that I looked at. If that works, you are one lucky person, but it is always worth a try. You may not even be able to adb at all.
You could always try to make/buy a download mode jig.

You could always buy a jig-they are available from several reputable websites. I'd rather not recommend any, since i've never bought one, but google is your friend.

Yeah, I almost forgot about that. The question is.. Does it always work? I would think that it could work here since it is still a galaxy s varient flashed over. I'm not sure how deep down the download mode is and if it can be deleted/overwritten/corrupted. This is definitely worth it to save an expensive smartphone like the fascinate.
My samsung vibrant running 4.0.4 ICS zenwich 1.8.4 randomly shut off today, not even able to turn on, it was the Sleep of Death I have got before, so i pulled battery and reboot, still nothing.
The phone now boots, but their is no display
The phone will literally turn on, have the 4 buttons light up on the bottom, have the screen be responsive to touches, but the physical display is off
I can unlock my phone by swiping, hear the volume up sound, even dial calls by blind touching. It is the same idea as a PC that is plugged in, just so VGA cable to the monitor.
I have tried rebooting to recovery, download mode and tried to heimdall, but it never finds my device, i tried to sdk in and reboot to download mode via cmd prompt but no luck finding device too
I am all out of ideas and nothing is seems to be working
Any advice on resolving this issue would be appreciated

You may've gotten into recovery, I can't really get into download mode like that. Try this:
Unplug USB & remove battery
Insert battery but do not power on.
Hold VOL-UP + VOL-DOWN
Insert USB and wait a few seconds, while still holding them

Ok that works, I'm defineatly in download mode, the device shows up in ODIN, but not heimdall. I am not familiar with ODIN, how would I go about flashing the ICS zen rom? I found a tutorial to flash back to stock ROM and wipe all data, but I would like to be able to just reflash the ICS rom

Ok, so it shows the download mode on the screen of the phone?
If so, that's good news and means your screen is not shot.
Try to get Heimdall to work. Are you in windows? Then you'll need to uninstall the samsung drivers and do this (from CM update guide):
CM update guide said:
1. Run the included zadig.exe in the drivers folder of the Heimdall Suite.
2. From the menu, choose Options ยป List All Devices.
3. From the drop down, select Samsung USB Composite Device or Gadget Serial.
4. Click Install Driver.
NOTE: A prompt may appear warning that the installer is unable to verify the publisher of the driver. Ignore it and select "Install this driver anyway."
5. Heimdall can now be used safely on the Windows computer.

Once heimdall is running, try grabbing the boot.img out of the zen zip and do this:
Code:
heimdall flash --kernel boot.img
See if anything comes of that.
The screen never turned on.. it just went into download mode and i was able to see from ODIN that it was recognized. So i ODIN'd back to stock rom, i heard the phone reboot, but still no display.
Like before the phone's screen is 100% responsive, i can unlock the phone, hear the usb plugging in noise, just no display. It just blows my mind because the screen works but its not on.. I am very confused

That's not good. Your phone might be done for then. I once repartitioned with no partition files and still download mode worked on a fresh battery pull.
Maybe try leaving the battery out for a while and see if it fixes itself, since it seems to be an electronics problem, maybe something needs time to reset or something.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Yea I've had the battery out for over 30 mins and nothing. I even opened up my phone last night to check all the ribbon wires and connections, everything looked fine and i removed the motherboard & replugged everything in.. still no luck
it's a good thing my contract is up I think I am going to get the samsung galaxy s 3..
RIP vibrant best phone i ever had, I'm surprised it lasted this long with all the mods I had done to it haha
my xt890 lcd screen and digitizer were broken so i changed them and the phone was working fine for a week, i then wanted to update to kitkat through oem update; everytime i tried it would give me error . i then read that since i unlocked bootloader and rooted my phone and installed cwm recovery i couldnt do an oem update and i had to do a factory reset in order to update through oem, so i did just that ; after the phone finished factory reset and booted i proceeded with oem update while the phone was charging, everything was going fine the file was downloading, i went to the bathroom and came back the display was black, but touch screen was working fine...through more searching i read that this could be from the update, and i should do another reset... since i couldnt see anything even recovery menu. i downloaded moborobo so i can see my screen on pc and proceeded to factory reset ... now i cant even see through moborobo and im stuck. i think im stuck in recovery screen, but no way to be sure , hence i cant get usb debug. Please help.

Can your friends phone go into download mode (volume down, home button, power button)? If it can, you will need to flash back to stock rom by using odin.

Hi Guys,
I tried flashing twrp with ROM control but it went totally wrong..
I had cwmod and CardHDrom installed, but wanted to install the newer version of it.
Phone is in a bootloop with Recovery is not seandroid reforcing, so I can't get into recovery mode.
I also tried to boot it in safe mode but it keeps restarting and immediately with the notification recovery is not seandroid reforcing.
I tried to go in download mode and yes I installed the most recent drivers, but my pc won't recognize my phone..
My question: Since we don't have an external SD card, is it possible to use a usb stick ( with mini usb connector) and flash the rom + recovery on the usb, so i'll be able to boot my phone up with the USB stick (trough an OTG cable) and save my data ?
model: Samsung galaxy s6 edge 925f
Thanks in advance!

I have seen this happen a few times on here. And tbh im not sure how to fix it. If odin wont recognise it and you cant get in recovery theres not much you can do. Normally when this hapoens the phone is still picked up in odin. So when you plug it to odin in download mode odin is just blank and nothing happens at all? Dont say added or anything? Because it just needs recovery flashing. Have you tried adb?

I very much doubt it. You can try but honestly i dont think it will work. You would still need custom recovery to unstall the rom from sd card
Make sure you try other USB ports, as well as other cords. This happened on a note 5 I was working on. I was using the cord that came with the phone and Odin wouldn't recognize the phone. I tried a few different cords and found one that Odin liked.
It's worth a shot
