[Q] How to roll back to miui from RR official? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hey fellow redmi note 3 users,
I'm stuck here with a problem. I'm trying to roll back to miui 7(version 7.5) from resurrection remix official but whenever I try to do it, my mobile is stuck at the mi logo. Can anyone guide me?
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: I don't have any miui back up [emoji14]

So I just need to unlock the bootloader again? And then can I flash it through recovery rom? Or fastboot is the only option?
Sorry for being a noob ?

Well i can call myself noob too.... Bht successfully flashed miui 8 again from slim rom....
I followed the thread here on xda..
Downloaded the miui 8 rom(global) recovery zip... Deleted the emmc_appsboot file from the zip....
Cooked cracked boot image..
And then did a clean install.... (wiped cache.. System.. Delvik cache.. Data.. Even internal) and glashed miui 8... Then flashed the cracked boot image.... AND ALL DONE
Just before starting.. Check if your phone is unlocked.... If not.. Go to fastboot mode and unlock it using miunlock....
Thats what i did... After failing many times.... So try it.

Step 1 :- If you have unlocked officially boot into recovery(TWRP) wipe dalvik, cache, data, system (not internal storage and SDcard).
Step 2 :- Then flash a miui recovery rom.
Step 3 :- After successful flash now press home button in TWRP and click Reboot option and then select Bootloader.
Step 4 :- While you boot into fastboot open mi unlock and unlock your bootloader and then reboot the phone.
That's it!!!

i had unlocked bootloader officially. Now using RR rom, radon 2.8, alka twrp.
Had created backup of miui before flashing RR.
So now, i just have to restore the backup from alka twrp and back on MIUI8?

There is a easy way too u just have to flash lazyflasher after flashing official miui ROM lazyflasher will delete emmc file n will also delete "verify" from fstab.qcom file done!! It works great I have flashed miui roms several times lazy flasher also has a SuperSU zip if u want to root miui ROM n ur bootloader remains unlocked
Tips - after flashing both files lazy flasher n ROM then tap on reboot system it will ask to "disable replace stock recovery" that time u have to "swipe to allow modifications" if u select "do not disable" then ur TWRP recovery will be gone on next boot.
Just remember to flash lazyflasher zip every time ur reverting back from custom to stock rom

[GUIDE] Downgrading From Miui v6 to Miui v5 on Mi3W without using fastboot ROM

For Those Who DOOO
Hi DODOS,
We know that, inorder to downgrade from Miui 6 to Miui 5 on Mi3W,we have to lose entire Internal SD card if we use fastboot flashing method, and hence i made this thread to help you people avoiding the loss of entire data.
Requirements:
1) Mi3W (A Dragon In Your Pocket )
2)CWM recovery (Download From Attachment)
3)Recent stable version of Miui v5 rom(Get it from the download section of official miui english website)
Procedure:
1)Backup your apps and settings since they'll be wiped.
2)Open the Updater app and select update package(i.e the downloaded CWM recovery) by browsing through your sd card.
3)Tap on reboot and enter into recovery by holding "vol+" button
4)Select your active system(choose any of the system and go to advanced menu, you can see your active system their, then change to current active system from managed system[system 1/2] )
5)wipe data/factory reset
6)wipe cache partition
7)mounts and storage>format /system(To avoid force closes of apps after rebooting)
8)advanced>wipe dalvik cache
9)install zip>choose zip from /sdcard>0/>Downloaded Stable ROM
10)reboot system now (Select ---yes-disable recovery flash and root your device if prompted)

You can restore apps and app data using MIUI's backup and reset option. Few system apps may not get restored since you are downgrading, but that doesn't create an issue. I'm using most of the apps (excluding system apps) normally.

What he suggested will delete the lockscreen password/passcode etc so you can boot the phone without any prompts. You do this within TWRP.

oh in that case, should I have to factory reset everytime I flash a rom through my TWRP? I use ZCX TWRP, so Lazy flasher is not required after rom flashing right?
you just need it once . to decrypt your storage

In the information about the ZCX TWRP I found below:
ZCX TWRP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/redm...persu-t3462448
- Based on official TWRP 3.0.2-0
- Patches boot.img automatically (Removes dm-verity flag)
- Disables forced encryption
Should I have to tweak anything in TWRP settings to remove this dm-verify flag everytime?

Are you coming from MIUI? If so then MIUI encrypts the data partition, hence the new ROM asking for a password.
Before you install the ROM, you must "format data" on wipe in TWRP, this is different from wipe data.
Note that this will delete all your data obviously.

Are you sure that you used "format data"?
Wipe data doesn't remove the encryption.

Perfect. Worked bro. Thanks a lot for the help. I was wiping cache, and internal storage. Now only came to know this. :highfive:

factory reset / hard reset / twrp full wipe

Hi guys, i was wondering what are the differences between doing a factory reset, hard reset or doing a full wipe (data, cache, dalvik cache, system and internal storage) with twrp.
I want to restore my phone like it was when i bought and opened in the box. Then i will flash a custom rom (i have twrp installed). There are different terminology used to perform similar/same actions regarding this.
Considering that after the restore i will install another rom different than the original one, should i do just a full wipe with twrp, or a factory reset/hard reset will erase better the files in my phone? Are these same actions?
Should you tell me what action is the best in my case?
- Factory reset means it turns the device like when you actually bought it
- Hard reset means using power key combinations to reset device , Factory reset & hard reset is the same it can also be done using on screen commands
- TWRP full wipe means it wipes everything even the system , that means even Android skin is wiped which leaves your device with just Recovery & nothing installed
Conclusion - TWRP wipe for flashing every new ROM , if you're flashing just update of same ROM don't wipe anything directly flash zip file & Gapps

Thanks! Another question : we said that factory reset restores the original android system and this is basically the only difference against a full wipe. Ok, but is there a difference between wiping partitions with twrp and performing a factory reset? is wiping different from erasing with factory reset? does factory reset erase better the files than the twrp's wipes? or are these exactly same things?

In TWRP if you uncheck system & wipe the rest ie - data , cache , dalvik cache , internet storage that's equivalent to Factory reset , but if you have a custom ROM & want to get back to Miui there's a different procedure let me know if you wanna do that [emoji106]

Ok,that's fine I already reverted back to miui from Nitrogen os using zcx twrp, because battery life didn't convince me and I have more confidence with the stock miui camera. Now I only want to clean my phone because I installed much things which I currently not use. I will stay to miui 8.2.2 global stable which is different from the miui global developer which is the native version of my phone =)

Hello. I have a Note 5 that I just bought and tried to root. But I screwed it up and managed only to install TWRP, without root. Now the phone only goes into loop mode. But I have TWRP 3.1.1., apparently with all the TWRP buttons working (including adb sideload, terminal, file manager) The question is, how can I restore the phone to factory reset? I cant seem to get to the option that wipes the data and does a hard reset. I can delete the system but what good does that do me if I can;'t get a working system
I was on Android 7.0, Nougat.
Thanks in advance!

Okay first try factory reset in Twrp or wipe everything except system ( both are same ) If this fails ...
Search for custom ROMs for Note 5 or Simply flash Lineage OS if it's available for your device .
Device must be able to boot now & If this fails ....
Flash stock firmware , this requires PC & everything will be reset replaced with stock recovery & ROM

But y did internal storage got corrupt?

bootloop issue

hi i tryed to convert my redmi note 4x to global when flashing with mi flash tool i did it without clean and after that firmware finish installing but got stuck in bootloop now i flashed twrp and tryed to flash custom rom but again bootloop when i check my storage it shows 9gb now when its actual is 32gb i think i disturbed partitions any solution available?
Are you able to boot into TWRP?? If not flash TWRP first using fastboot.
Once you have access to TWRP boot into it and perform a full wipe (System + Data + Cache + Dalvik + Internal Storage). Perform a format too after wipe to be on the safer side. Now copy a custom ROM or MIUI ROM to your Internal Storage or SD card through a computer. Once copied install your ROM.
If you flashed custom ROM flash Gapps after flashing ROM. Reboot.
If you flashed MIUI, flash lazyflasher after that(or phone will be stuck at MI logo). Reboot.
You can find download links for lazyflasher here on XDA or you can google it too.

@ArK96 is right but the only thing i suggest is to, flash miui and lazyflasher first so as to properly set up the initial firmware, and partitioning. After miui boots properly, you can do anything you want. :highfive:

Go here and download the Global Stable worldwide release version firmware.
Boot into twrp wipe and format everything. Also after that reflash TWRP again using fastboot.
Once reflashed boot into TWRP and again perform a full wipe and format, then install the downloaded firmware zip. After that reboot TWRP and try flashing MIUI.

Yes. Red wolf is more MIUI friendly, it is made with OTA survival in mind. But your issue is that the ROM is not getting flashed. You can try what I said above about TWRP reflash, if it doesn't work you can go ahead and try redwolf. REDWOLF is nothing but modded TWRP, base code is still TWRP.

Good job mate.

Stucked in Google Loading Logo

Hi there, I'm using Redmi Note 3 (Kenzo)
Using TWRP, I tried to flash to latest PixelExperience_kenzo-9.0-20190507-0434-OFFICIAL but I always stucked at the Google Loading screen. It's almost 30 mins now.
Here's what I did :
Wiped all data(including Internal Storage)
Flashed the PixelExperience_kenzo-9.0-20190507-0434-OFFICIAL.zip
Wiped Dalvik cache after flashing the zip
Am I missing something here?

Yes I was officially unlocked.
I was on MIUI 8(Android 6.0)
The reason I went to MIUI 8 because I wanted to fix my "Radio Off" problem which seems to affect most of the Android phones, especially Xiaomis'
