To us canadian users stuck on the JB modem's.... pretty much the only problem I have noticed by installing the hybrid modem made my morislee is that the autorotation is inverted...
I was wondering if there was a way to make some other xposed module or patch of sort to invert the inversion ....
Not having autofocus while taking a video really blows ...
So if anyone got ideas... do brainstorm please...

I would hit up @morrislee and ask what he needs from you to make your own hybrid variant, he cranked out the ones for us after the mako versions extremely fast, seems like a nice enough dude, and this way you wont need any wacky workarounds.
Ya I did message him... Unfortunately I believe he is busy

A hybrid modem will most likely not fix the rotation issues. The issue is with the dsps.* image files in the modem. They are the firmware that is sent to the Hexagon DSP processor, and they are signed, so they most likely cannot be modified. They control sensor function, which includes both rotation and camera autofocus. A userspace patch would be needed to fix autorotation if those firmware files are used.

Stuff like this keeps schooling me every day, brain starting to hurt
That being said, I setup an Ubuntu environment earlier today, from one of the guides in chef central, using 12.04 64bit, got all the packages, but i'm terrified to sync a potential 10 gigs of stuff, what exactly should i be syncing to on github for our device, and say for illusion rom to try building from source?
and as I side project today, I nearly got a zte x500 to take a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery, after noticing ZTE signed their packages with the test keys, just needed to figure out the mmcblk for recovery for the cricket score <edit> I know the syntax that particular updater script needs now, but dont have access to the phone til monday. the person is getting a new phone anyway but it's my pet project to flash a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery and good practice doing updater-scripts from scratch </edit>
Been a fun day.

Just checking, would it be possible for you to make an inversion patch for your hybrid modem?
OK, so I bought an Xperia Z Ultra a few days ago, and I ensured it was a unlockable device, after owning all my previous Xperia phones unlocked.
The main reason I was unlocking before on my previous Z, S and T was because battery savings, meaning custom kernel undervolting, and several battery friendly moded stock kernel options. And of course, some easy rooting, mainly for changing the ugly high dpi the Z has, and have some real screen state, not big clunky icons, fonts and stuff on a 5" display.
I never been attracted to CM and or PAC for that matter either, because they break too many things to even consider them my daily drivers IMHO, and with the arrival of the Snapdragon 800 chipsets speed is never an issue, unlike before on weak handsets like S and X10 on which a custom rom did wonders for the performance.
On the Z Ultra, on the other hand, battery life is proving itself to be outstanding, way more than I expected it to be, as I was afraid the 3000mah battery wasn't gonna cut it due to screen to battery size ratio. Standard dpi is also excellent, alongside kit kat performace. Also, having a quick look on the development section, there isn't too much going on, unlike the Z, I can't seem to find a completely stock kernel that has just undervolting and some recovery options, heck, I don't recall there being a stock based kernel at all.
So, what's your main reason for unlocking this precise device?
Also, how the battery life on stock rom compares to Google Play edition?

The only need to unlock bootloader is to install the custom room set or custom kernel, but I'm like you and find the stock Sony experience ticks all the boxes I'm interested in. They've done a great job with the stock rom.
Guess the main appeal is for the gpe build.

It makes rooting incredible easy. Are you on KitKat? Just flash Jackie's kernel and flash SuperSU. Done. I also like to change ROMs and environments once in awhile, so i typically flash between stock and the GPe ROM, which brings me to....

It's quite good actually. The GPe ROM doesn't have Stamina, so you have to be a little careful with IM services and stuff like that, but it's not bad at all.

That's the thing with "Nexus'" (Nexi?). Want a different ROM environment? Too bad. You're stuck with AOSP. Got the original Ultra? You got two environments to choose from. Stock Sony and AOSP, so when you get bored with one of them, you can easily swap. That's one thing that's scarying me away from the Nexus-line. And we also have the GPe version which means that the GPe will get 4.5/5.0 early, and we'll be able to just flash it (after some minor modifications).
I guess it's possible to get a Sony ROM running on the GPe version, but there aren't that many devs around here, so stuff like that will take a fair bit of time. Just hang in there though!

Well that's a lot easier. The Sony KitKat apps are all over the place her at XDA, so just find and install them. I did it myself when I ran the GPe ROM and it worked just fine. You may have to adjust the DPI, but that's not an issue.

Fair enough I've found a few and also a few that won't install I've looked for a stock camera apk and a few others I couldn't get to install without root.
I doubt the camera will work, but Album, Movies, Walkman and all those works fine (or so they should)

Yea couldn't find a camera apk but I do have the others but did have to find an older movies apk that would actually work. My situation is that I was looking forward to trying xperia out but also wanted the 6806 model but came across a great deal for the gpe and forgot that it wouldn't have xperia on it.
Hi all,
just jumped from my Mega 6.3 to ZU, and it's been ages I've had a sony device (Arc, I think ), but the price I found it at was just too good to pass.
Now, I've been reading the various threads about downgrading FW then up again, and so on...
I have to say I am usually not afraid of that stuff, but this time I've got really no waranty, and I'm too concerned about breaking something. I already officialy upgraded to KK.
So My question : unlocking the bootloader will make me lose the DRM keys, BUT will also allow me to bipass all the downgrade stuff and jump on custom KK roms? (of course, flashing custom reco and stuff first!)
I must say i do not care for the Bravia engine and others.
Thanks to let me know
Edit : probably LordManathan answered my question :

I guess you still need to downgrade and root to backup TA partition before you unlock the bootloader and flash jackie's kernel.

Haha, yeah... I was hoping I wouldn't have to really care about the TA partition!
Aside from losing DRM keys, is there any other issue?
Thanks for you quick answer!
Edit:
I kept reading (yes I do read the forums a lot before and after a question, haha!) and I read that unlocking the bootloader on an official KK rom will not break x-reality ? Is that correct?

There should not be any other issue. Personally I have never had good experiences with rooting and installing custom kernels/roms. Stock ROM's are always best (just disable bloatware apps, no need to delete them).
X-reality is not disabled on KK after unlocking. But you can always add xpose modules custom bravia etc after rooting.
The only reason that I might root my ZU is for 'SD card functionality' which I hope Sony re-enable in a future update.

If you aren't worried about the DRM keys the I would just unlock the BL. The DRM keys are needed for netflix and track ID and maybe some other things?

My research pointed to that too, those DRM keys are actually pretty limited in scope (for me).
The biggest thing to lose is the Bravia engine, since that affects the phone in a more general way. But as I read, if unlocking the bootloader when on official Kitkat, the keys are no longer affected.
Well, I guess better safe than sorry, and I'll try to backup the TA partition anyway ^^

Are you sure? I would think that your warranty is the most important thing to keep intact, no? Let's say you just drop backing up the TA partition and you run into some hardware issues that can't be fixed by flashing. What do you do? Throw it into the nearest river? Pay $XXX to fix it? Or, just restore the backup?
It's pretty easy and straight forward. Downgrade to 532, root, backup TA, update to 681 (KitKat) again, and do whatever you want.

Yep, you are right of course, but this device I've got has no waranty. Well, gray market waranty at any rate where I guess they don't check the bootloader state, and any breakage will have to be paid at full price.
I will do the backup, just to be sure, as I concluded in my post
Thanks for all the advice!

Ok so I'm fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I have been studying up quite abit. Lots of really good videos on youtube!! So I'm just looking for some direction on what kind of things I can/should do now that I have rooted my phone. Here is the break down so far:
Rooted - Towelroot
Root Browser Installed
BusyBox Installed
Safestrap Installed and backup saved
Titanium Back Up Installed. Most Bloatware has been safely removed with no issues thus far
SuperSu Installed
Terminal Emulator Installed
CPU Tuner installed but have absolutely no clue what I am doing - still researching this
I think that is about it. So any tipps on next direction would greatly be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

Make phone calls... or browse the internet.
Mine does facebook good.
All the root, customization , ect. is just to make it do what YOU want it to do. If there isn't something your trying to get it to do that it doesn't... There isn't really a what next, be happy.
If there IS something your trying to get it to do that it doesn't... that next.
edit: though if your not using a custom rom you should probably freeze the program that controls OTA updates. Hopefully someone can chime in with what its called... Been awhile and I forget, and just flashed a rom instead of worrying about it last time I updated my phone.
Like you, I've frozen/killed/uninstalled all the crapware I could. Beyond that, all I've done is installed the Google Launcher. My phone is well behaved and pretty responsive, with minimal lag.
All I would really want at this point is an unlocked bootloader so I could install a straight Google ROM.

I'm on NC5 and have been happily running GPE ROM for quite awhile now. Only problem is the Kernel difference so there's no USB transfer.
Thanks for the reply's. Yeah I don't really game or anything. Heck I don't even Facebook lol but I would like to Play around with getting better battery life and maybe a little speed. I want to play around with the CPU tuner but I'm nervous about messing something up and I have not installed a new Kernel yet and from what I have read that is a must.

NO! Installing a new kernel on SafeStrap NC5 is not a must! It will brick your phone! You can use TW based ROMS and one or two very special AOSP Roms, no new kernels though!

I use android tuner for my tuning needs. Really expansive options and a really great app. If you want a really light ROM fort SS GPE ROMs are about 400-500MB. Gets rid of clunky touchwiz and solely runs on Google Now Launcher. Only bummer is the loss of the Touchwiz camera app.

HyperDrive is solid and a good ROM for those newer to 'all this' IMO. I am on BlackBox which is stupid fast and has great battery life but is a little buggy. I've had it on my phone for over a week now and have no plans of taking it off anytime soon. But it's up to you now. Just make sure you wipe everything before you flash, always make a backup beforehand and only flash ROM's that are proven on your device and your bootloader and you will be money. Also, read read read the threads before flashing.

Released officially for Nougat a few days ago, I'm on WETA Rom and everything is pretty smooth, I made this thread so people can post what works and what doesn't specifically for this phone, there is an ongoing thread for all working modules on nougat but that includes AOSP ROMs and not all of us are running AOSP, also haven't run into any major issues boot times are a little bit longer but I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life or performance
Guys, do you xposed might work on Tilde's ROM?

If it's a stock based Rom I can't see why it wouldn't work, same goes for an AOSP Rom, as always make a Nandroid backup in TWRP before flashing just in case it doesn't work

I went to WETA for customization and the aroma installer had a bunch of stuff I could choose from, rooting in general it's just something I've been doing since my first Android phone, I'm amazed at what I can do with basically complete control, as I say to my friends that don't know what root is, if I want to do something I more than likely can, music didn't sound good enough to me so I installed viper4android music sounds amazing and I couldn't go back to stock, I wanted my battery to last longer so I installed greenify to force doze when I turn my screen off so I can get iPhone levels of standby drain, also it's just something fun to do there's always new stuff going on, Xposed just got released officially a few days ago and I honestly can't wait to see what comes of it.

yeah I would love to be able to force DOZE and also use Greenify to help preserve battery.. but nervous what features i'd lose going away from stock... does everything still function? or did you loose things like 2nd screen, or camera quality etc ?

I'm on WETA Rom I don't know what variant you are on but personally I have the H918 T-Mobile variant, it supports most of the major variants, and it's a stock based Rom it's built on update 10K and everything is intact second screen, camera quality, everything works perfect

Yeah i had started with the VS995 Verizon variant when I first went to the V20.. but after we switched to MetroPCS (via TMobile service).. I noticed that without all of the GSM bands.. my connection was HORRIBLE.. plus I did not have the WIFI calling / SMS features... so I switched to the H918 variant... SO Glad I did.. love the knowledge I could unlock my bootloader.. and it seems to have some of the default features that Verizon had locked out... IE FM Radio.. etc..
right now i'm on the 10q software.. so not sure if i'm locked out of anything or if thats still able to root / unlock and flash safely.

As far as I know 10p still hasn't been rooted, I would hold off updating for a bit if you do want to root, I don't know when a 10q root will be available
BIG UPDATE, POSSIBLE FINAL BUILD!!!
Code:
I shouldn't have to say it, but when you hit/swipe the install button,
everythings on you. This was made for a J727perx/POPLTESPR, using a boost
mobile phone for testing. If your phone isn't from the suppliers listed in this
post, or you're not using something labeled perx, or are unfamiliar with the
term popltespr, don't try to use it. I won't be crying for anyone. That said, this
should be about as stable a ROM as you get when dealing with ROMs.
The new
J727PVPU3ARC2_MULTI_CERT_LIBERATE_X7s
New Video demonstration below
I wasn't able to make the YouTube link embed, but I hid the video like a good dude.
The video is of the actual zip that I uploaded for the download, you will start with a blue/purpleish light theme, changeable/disable in the theme center. No need to worry, but I always keep an backup of my EFS on the card, just in case.
Zero bloat, fully intact/tweaked system, with no knox.
If you discover some earth shattering problem, let me know, if not, I don't have anymore plans on taking this further. I'm flashing my personal build as of this post, if you want anything faster...I don't even know where to point you. With the right launcher(see my video of my personal build), and system setup, its scary fast.
Enjoy

Multi_Cert
This ROM should be ready for multiple service providers. It covers Sprint, Boost Mobil, and Virgin Mobil customers, and has built in boot animations for all 3 stock to prove it, along with vendor options. This is what I made the original ROMs with, ARA1 and ARC2. Until I recently reset my PC, and got a bunk Boost AP. All should be as good as everything was in the past builds, before the .3/.4 gen.
Hope you guys enjoy.
Love and Peace, and all that junk.
If you want to make use of my project, then read my sig, I got you covered.
Just downloaded ty bro. I'll let you know how it works out. Heading home now.
Nice, hope you enjoy, I'm posting one more, and have a 4 that goes further that I could send you. All features are working, service should be stable down to the 4th build...eh, I'll post them both.

We have a gathering of our phones most active members here, lol. Glad you liked it, I was super proud of how these came out.
Updates in the OP. Not that it's that far away from this post.
Man it's phenominal. Flashed this morning, and it's kicking ass and taking names. I can really tell a difference on internet too. Thanks man.
Pc isn't picking up my phone with usb. Do you know what would be the cause? I know adb tether wasn't working already but I need to connect my phone so I can transfer music, pictures ect. I don't have micro/sd slot in pc or I'd just do that.
Also Xposed says it's incompatible and won't let me install. Says it's not compatible with processor ect. This one isn't a deal breaker, just wondering if something might be corrupt on my end somehow..
Turn off USB debugging when you want to use the usb with another device, should link instantly when you turn it off, and break when on. Not that it should, but does lol. I'm going to try something differen't with the xposed, if I make it work, I'll do my planned update with it fixed.
Was going to post an update with my android boot animation, and game over shutdown....could mix a few others, but didn't know if you guys were interested.
Peter had xposed working on our old firmware, so I had it working of course. On the new frimware, for whatever reason, it really hates anything starting with the letter X, I've been on this all day. My solution would be to completely pull xposed, keep the build quality/speed up, and offer custom qmp boot images out of the box. Let me know what you think, or, if you nail xposed, let know about that. I currently have the Android ULHD boot animation, swirling dots into flashing android, and pacman gameover shutdown on mine. I have a bit of a collection I could share, or you can find them on the forms I'm sure, but most don't flash right. Mine work lol. Let me know what you would like.
Probably have to pull xposed from the project, but I can at least add some flare to the roms. I was adding boot animations, and a built in EQ presets built for small speakers. Currently in testing.
Bootanimations are always nice
How about?

I could preinstall them, or I might be able to provide animations, and shutdown as seperate flashables, and let you guys do your own? I've been preping all of them for a go, just want to take a look at what I have. I don't have them in zips yet, but I don't thing it'll be too hard. So far I have Android_L_UHD(A/S), Amiga (A/S), Badman (S), PacMan game over(S), NexusBeam(A/S), Matrix(A/S), SamDisco(A), and a few others. There's a post on the forms with them, but they don't work on our phone in there current format.
I might find some videos, or make a little montage, or just get zips together.
In the meantime, I need to update 2.2, at the very least, and my op.
Looks like someone made a video on the thread, and also has the link there. If you flash them, it only affects the shundown, if anything.
UPDATE
Despite my best efforts, xposed did not work out. I pulled it, added more speed(everywhere), and a musicplayer/system FX EQ that work together, but don't like the phone speaker. It's a combination chosen after much testing, and with a decent pair of headphones, makes a very noticeable difference from preset, to bass, reverb, and virtualization. Like most additions, totally free, no adds, and worth adding.
2.2 is the only update, the rest will happen over the next few days, and all will be getting custom boot animations, along with the other mentioned changes.

Ok use this apk an the ZIP you are using an it will work !!!!!
https://mega.nz/#!TEcxmAgQ!bCkqQBVxahScyk_jdWDirL9eRPOmBna787td3pOQClc
On the install of you Rom the framework is in it is the apk you are using !!!
all download links down for full updating. I'll post when they're back. if it's not a link for X#.3, it wont work. really good stuff coming.
All ROMs have new working boot/shutdown animations, new speed tweaks for almost everything, tested music player/system EQ(not working with system speaker, great with headphones), and, of course thank you peter couniaz for informing me of the importance of the installer, and linking it.
2.3 is up, the rest are syncing, and will be up in the morning, when I get up again.
All ROMs updated to the latest versions. Idon't believe I have anything more for quality or speed, everything is close to perfect while keeping the ROM technically stock. Lineage is still faster, but not by much, for our phone at least, and this looks so much better. Anyway, everyone enjoy the updated ROM, let me know what you think, and if you find any problems.

I will check it out tonight, ty for your hard work. You and Peter are awesome for working on the J7Perx. Much appreciated
Finally a dev who knows his works?good work bruh...will try it today
I flashed the X2.3 rom. Nice work, but there are a couple problems. The first thing I noticed was that the Xposed framework was installed during rom installation. The app is removed, but the framework is still installed. The next problem that I ran into was that a secured lockscreen takes a really long time to unlock (approximately 10 seconds).

I'm uploading 2.3 with the proper installer, I don't know how 2.3 was the only one to not get it. All others are fine, probably because 2.3 was the first updated. I'm working on figuring out the lock screen issue. I've checked so much that I'm running out of ideas. I'll update the download in the op with the new link once it's synced. Which will be like 10 minutes lol. Sorry about the lock screen, it permeates through to my final build it seems.

I just installed the latest version of 2.3. This one had the framework and the installer. However I have no data because it is recognizing it as a Sprint device instead of a virgin mobile device.
now that's interesting. I'm going to make another 2.3, in like 30ish minutes, and pm you a link to see if its fixed, sorry. The rom backs up efs at least. Brb
