Morning all,
Im looking at a SD 650 version of the Note3 but living in Australia would like the phone to have access to 700, 900, 1800 and 2100 MHz frequencies.
There is a lot of conflicting information regarding this phone and the versions that support different networks.
Searching here doesnt seem to provide me with an answer...
From what i read the 700MHz is the key (band 28?).
Can anyone confirm if they have a rom working for these frequencies? Happy to get either the Chinese or International version of the phone (the mysterious Taiwan versions that do appear seem to be the SD 616 version).
Thanks XDA hope someone can help with the answer,
A lot of people are waiting for the unlock of band 20 and 28 but so far it hasn't been done properly. (banmeifyouwant said he unlocked band20 but had reception problems)
I would recommend you to buy the special edition if you really need band 28 because right now I guess nobody can guarantee you that the bands can be unlocked by software only.
Thanks Man, not the news i wanted to hear. the special international editions dont seem to be that common on sale sites.
most of the international versions seem to be the SD 616 version.

are you sure that you're not looking at redmi 4g? The note 3 pro special edition has the 650 for sure! You can check here in the anouncement post on miui:

Hi all,
I'm considering getting a Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon version/Pro). I'm a little confused about the bands that it supports. When I check wellmyphonework.net it says that the Global model will work on LTE Band 4, but the China/Unicom one will not. Looking in the forums I see Global and China Roms, but nothing definitive about separate physical models.
Is the hardware all the same(ignoring RAM/Storage variations)? Do the supported bands depend solely on which ROM is installed? If there are distinct hardware versions is there any way to tell which one I would get from ebay or AliExpress?
Thanks in advance.

The lte band support is hardware dependant, software doesn't matter.
I've bought mine with China global and lte is working fine in Europe.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

That's simply not true. The SD650 supports Band 4 which is what he's asking about. Europe doesn't use Band 4 and all the versions support European lte bands. On another thread here a user with AT&T was getting lte on the vendor rom and changed to the Global rom and now only gets H+. I too would like to know which version of the phone I have.
hi,
I read about an upcoming note 3 pro version which supports band 20 which is important in germany.
http://www.mi.com/tw/note3/specs/
is it technically possible to upgrade the old one just with a software upgrade??
omg. Band 28 too. Hallelujah!
I hope this will be unlockable too if band 20 is.
Australians, Kiwis, South Americans etc Rejoice!
Wait... on the homepage you just see the MediaTek and the Snapdragon Version?!
In the CM Thread some users report working band 20.
Maybe we will get band 20 and Quick Charge with new firmwareupdate?
Link not working, i'm pretty sure the modem allows us to use 800 and even 700mhz bands the 650 is one of the most recent soc from Qualcomm they just can't forget something like that. Let's wait and see for miui8 Marshmallow (which Will Come for sure, we saw alpha builds for miui7 Marshmallow that means that someone at mi is working on it plus we got official miui Marshmallow kernel they can't throw the job like that)
---------- Post added at 11:43 ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 ----------
We need some testers and devs heree! The 650 features the brand new x8 lte modem which is also present in... the snapdragon 617. And what phone features a 617? HTC a9 which By the way DOES SUPPORT 700 &800 MHZ (B20 & B28) so we just need someone with a a9 to let us see the modem qpst values !!!
The link is working fine for me. The detail of the bands can be seen here: http://www.mi.com/tw/note3/specs/#brand
Yes, I do really hope that we might get the band 20 working after roms are released for the Special Edition (this one). Either that, or maybe after detailed pictures of the motherboard are posted, in case it is disabled by hardware (which I doubt, but it is not impossible). The Special Edition should have started selling yesterday, so we might get our hands on the rom for it.
Would be funny if it used exactly the same rom as normal Note 3 Pro
A9 got 652?!

Gents,
Looking at picking up a Redmi Note 3 Pro but I'm very confused on the frequencies it supports. Every website seems to say something different. I really require 1700/2100mHz for my provider.
From what I've read, certain variations of the phone do, while some don't. How can I tell which?
Much appreciated!
you need the Note 3 Pro Special Edition (aka Kate) which has a snapdragon 650. It's also known as the International edition but that may depend on the seller.
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-5-5-Inch-FHD-3GB-32GB-Smartphone-371103.html
Is the snapdragon 650 the key to determining model? Lots of them on eBay with the 650, but are there different variants even within them?
Appreciate the help

Yes, MTK version only has differences between RAM and internal storage sizes (2GB/16GB and 3G/32GB) but the SD versions not only have the RAM/internal storage differences, there is the special/international edition which adds multiple bands.

Actually before you buy which variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, make sure you know what bands your current
phone carrier supports. You mention you require 1700/2100MHz but does your provider support Band 4 (which runs on 1700/2100MHz) for Note 3 Pro Snapdragon variant. Make sure not to buy MediaTek variant since that does not have the frequencies you requested.

I'm referring to check the Band support of your phone provider, since if it definitely has Band 4 listed, then I presume you can use 3G HSPA+ when on Data or even better, the 4G LTE while on Data.

My carrier supports 1700/2100 for AWS, so that's the big one I need. I don't see it listed anywhere (1700 listed under LTE). I'm not sure if they're the same or not. I'm ready to pull the trigger, just wanna make sure it works =D

No, I was about to pull the trigger on one (and still fighting with myself) but decided to wait until the Redmi Note 4 comes out. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which is still a pretty good phone so I'm not in a huge rush.
Is there a major difference between the x820 and the x829 version? From what i could find on the internet the x829 is the version for the US and i'm not sure if it has bootloader unlocked, considering the 64 gb ROM i would risk buying it, but if lte wont work in Romania on this version, and there's no way to instal another custom rom thats a no buy, please tell me your thoughts

You can look on this site: willmyphonework.net
There you can choose brand, model, country and your provider.
Website mentioned does not help, as you can't select variants.
As far as I know (I have ordered it myself) X829 is USA version, so it DOES NOT HAVE BAND 20. I would skip on this one if your 4G/LTE carrier is emitting via B20 frequency.
Here in Montenegro, 2 out of 3 carriers have 4G and both use bands 3 and 7, so I am covered and don't really care about B20.
There is a tool that unlocks bands, yet nobody confirmed that it actually works.
As far as custom ROMs are a concern, they all are interchangeable , means all ROMs can be used on all variants, X820, X821, X823, X829...

I have x820 working perfectly in Lithuania, you can check your Country's LTE supported bands on this link; http://willmyphonework.net/ and hardware for all version of max 2 is the same, you can always switch between roms.
Most webshop are pre-selling the X829 and will ship fom Feb 28, let's wait a few days to have them in hand and have actual experince on whether they have B20 and if they can be unlocked. (I want to know also if they do)

I personally don't experience hissing on this phone. As far as issues, it involves the OTA from Vendor Roms which bricked some devices. You can check your ROM version and cross reference it with the ones on the Mi website to make sure. Aside from that, I don't see anything wrong with the phone.
Hi, I'm also considering to buy Note 5 and I just wanted to say that I don't have that problem with Note 4, it doesn't mean much since I don't use N5 but I think there is very very little chance for hissing issue in any device produced in 2017.

Hi, when I purchased seller offer also a global variant for 40 usd more.
Many people confuse about global device version and global firmware that it´s not the same.
You just have to pay special attention to the bands that is enabled, the global version has more bands enabled, by i.e my version that is a non global doesn´t have LTE bands 2 (1900) nor 4 (1700/2100) it mean that in my country it can´t work on 4G (of course I bought it so it is cause I didn´t need). This is the main difference.

Why do you say that has B4? Where you saw it?
Look at this info, just 4G apparted, this is a non-global version from a chinese seller you can find these specs;
4G FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600
TD LTE B38:2600 /B39:1900/ B40:2300 /B41:2500 MHz
TD or TDD is the LTE FOR China, look up FDD LTE bands.
And this is a Global version, seller usually put in a red highlighted the bands added
4G: FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600 /B4:1700 /B20:800;
TD LTE B38:2600 / B40:2300
Differences here are bands 4 for Latin America and guess some regions of Asia and maybe others and band 20 for Spain.

No, if your device hasn´t these two added bands definitely it´s not a global version (global rom concept mean nothing for this) is a hardware limitation although can work within 4G depending on your company carrier in some of the 5 frequencies enabled.
I have a Chinese RN5, it has loads of bands dudes. The chance of it not working on your network are slim.
As for the headphones dilemma, they do not hiss or produce low volume. Altho if you pair them with Xiaomi Pro HD which have a high impedance then you will notice a lack in volume. That can be easily fixed with Dolby Atmos the Magisk Module.
