Hi guys,
I trust you are doing well!
I was just wondering, I mean, I know CM is very popular among the droid community, but the AOSP does still rank up there and tbh it's my favourite. I was hoping by now to see a couple of iterations of that amazing rom, but unfortunately the only one I saw was by MrColdbird and it seems to be a project that has been discontinued. So, I was wondering is there any reason no dev are working on the AOSP and is there any hope of seeing a proper iteration of that rom released for our beast the RN3 SD?
There are a few AOSP in roms in there they have the tag [AOSP]
I am using Krexus, it's AOSP based and really working well. Also there is slim 6.

actually what is the different between these kinds of rom?which is really more powerful?im just wonder,i hope tat some really know ppl would help me to answer this
Also I am interested in this.
AOSP= firmware found in Nexus S/Nexus One/Galaxy Nexus
Oxygen= Highly optimized AOSP
Oxygen is an AOSP source built ROM (ie. not a mod of any sense based ROM), it's minimal, it's superfast and mostly bugfree. As Oxygen is not a mod/port of any HTC/CyanogenMod or any other ROM and may not be to everyones liking, it's minimalistic and basic but any idea and suggestion for improving the ROM are welcome.

CM7= Optimized AOSP with many many many customizations available .
CyanogenMod Roms are developed open source and with many features you would not find in a normal Rom.

From google and andy info that pm-ed to me:
1st, AOSP is started by google team, and google release it with a new phone. For Example nexusone(froyo) with htc, nexusS(gingerbread) with samsung.
2nd, CodeAurora is made by manufacture that use Android as operating system on their phone. For example android gingerbread 2.3.3 official for LG P500 (ported by LGE)
3rd, CM is made by a billion people that want to customize their phone. As andy said, cm is designed for port to another device, so sometimes the code is not optimized.
4th, oxygen is made from AOSP code, that optimized and simple...
Sorry for my bad english..

Hi all,
First of all, I'm amazed and gobsmacked at how much work all the devs put into their respective ROM's, it's amazing the effort and hard work ppl put in. Passion is alive and well on XDA
Now, to business. I have my Galaxy SII, a Galaxy S, and an Acer Iconia A500. I've flashed them all with their respective ICS. I would think (and hope) that probably out of all of them, the SII has the biggest dev base and most power. The ICS ROMs for the A500 and S are almost perfect. They run completely vanilla with no or almost no bloat, they look and behave the same (icons for network activity inside the bars for example, contacts app looks the same) and have had no hiccups whatsoever.
Come the SII, the only ROMs I've seen are cooked from Samsung sources with their phone and contacts apps, they crash and reboot and if it weren't that I have gone past the point of no return in regard to effort I'd have gone back to Gingerbread days ago.
Is anyone out there developing a completely vanilla "Google" rom that isn't themed to look like ICS, but actually uses the ICS apps etc. I can't understand how the Iconia and SI can have this while the SII seemingly doesn't.
Can anyone open my eyes on this? I'd love to get something as stable onto my SII as I have with my other devices, ICS is brilliant to use on them...and barely bearable on my beloved SII.
Cheers
<:3)~
Ummmm correct me if I am wrong but that's exactly what the CM team are trying yo to do....
And you can already download and install that, so long as you are happy with the bugs at present.
Unless you meant something else???

You miss reading the cm9 thread. Check it out....its still alpha.

I'm more curious about the fact I would have thought the SII having a bigger user and dev base...certainly more than the A500 I thought it would have the most stable and mature code base - yet it seems the opposite is true.
I've been running 4.0.3 on my SI for weeks now and its never bugged out. Installed the A500...and Oh wow its like a brand new tablet!! I wonder is it because of Exynos or some other reason we can't have the same stability and performance right now.

Your ignorance and disrespect is pretty bad (even if you don't mean it). I think you should do some reading for a while and get yourself acquainted with what's involved.
I didn't ask this to be dissed by someone...I'm sure even you would agree the development cycle and challenges for all three devices would be similar given they all use different processors. So is it easier to compile for the A8 and Tegra than the A9?
I have been looking and downloading a number of ROMs...and if someone has created a ROM in a similar vein to Thor's on the A500 and Onecosmic's on the SI, well I'd be grateful for the heads up...in fact I'm just about to download and test the Pure ROM I just spied over in dev...so see how that goes. Still I'd be happy for someones *constructive* input.
Of course I'm claiming ignorance...if I knew I wouldn't ask...geez lol

It's a wonder no one bothers doing a straight AOSP compile for any device, really. CyanogenMod comes the closest. There are a few people who played with doing a straight AOSP, but they base it off CM's work and strip out the extras.
When I wanted the AOSP experience with Gapps, I installed CM7 on my SGS and installed the stock Gingerbread launcher. It was the closest I got.
Trebuchet is basically the stock ICS launcher with features added, so it won't be so bad. You can also replace it with the stock launcher as well.
Try Airbus 360s ics rom that's aosp and is fantastic he should be releasing beta 2 tonight.

haha I bet that confused ya
You're question is a bit noob so don't expect much answers.
Here is a short one to sum it for you:
AOSP - Pure android base without modification.
CM - almost pure with modifications.
STOCK - Hardware Manufacturer (eg. Samsung's) "official originated" release.
Stock - can have it all. CAUSE - Samsung has sources and support/docs for ALL hardware API of the device.
CM/STOCK - While there are some changes BOTH use the same origin.
To sum it, for proper functionality BOTH use SAME kernel/libs base.
So if some hardware functionality broken in one it'll be broken in other =
If CM9 haz no h/w decoding === APPLIES for AOSP.
Another thing to keep in mind, CM9 currently is in the process of adding CM features so current builds are very close to AOSP with functionality.
SUM IT UP:
if (CM9 != working) AOSP.isNotWorking()!

That's a piece of horrible code, dude
I just installed MIUI v4 and can say that I'm impressed. The customization preferences you get with this ROM is phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. Now I'm somewhat new to the different ROM's and such for Andriod phones, but understand the basics.
My question to you guys is, are there any ROM's, like MIUI, that provide almost the same type of customization and is created for US? My biggest problem with MIUI is the fact that it is a Chinese based ROM and some of the apps are in Chinese.
I would love to have a ROM that is just as amazing as MIUI and provide almost identical features, but lacks the Chinese language and what not.
By "MIUI v4" do you actually mean "v4" (which is based on ICS), or "v4.1" (which is based on JB)? If you truly meant the ICS based version of MIUI, "v4", then you shouldn't really have to worry about translation issues... At least not with jrongi1's port of MIUI v4, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552241. Never actually ran it myself, but never heard the people that did run it ever talk about translation issues. Not sure who's port your currently running, but jrongi1's is a good option.
In regards to receiving actual support from MIUI... That's not happening. MIUI stopped supporting the vibrant back in the Gingerbread days. Thankfully we have some pretty awesome ports available for our Vibrants.
EDIT: Although it doesn't have the same customization options as MIUI does, PARNOIDANDROID is a highly customizable JB ROM that definitely has zero translation issues. I'm currently using it as my daily driver. It can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1905397.

I'm on the JB version. Its got some issues but it doesn't bother me. I'll try out jrongi1's version.
Sounds good man. Keep in mind that jrongi1's version is based on ICS. So technically you're downgrading, or at least in terms of firmware you are. From what I've read, it's smooth and responsive. So you won't really be downgrading in terms of performance. Plus you shouldn't have any language issues.
Enjoy!

Any idea then a stable version of CM10.1 will come out? I'm really wanting to have that stock android experience but i want it to be stable and can be used as an everyday driver
The only issue I had with it is otg doesn't work.
This is cm we're talking about. No eta.

I think we'll see the Google Edition of the HTC One by mid-July, and the ROM could leak before it's even released which should serve as a catalyst in getting AOSP & AOKP ROM's running at full steam.
If I had to guess you'll see full featured AOSP builds by the end of July, probably not Cyanogenmod, but AOSP none the less.
Fingers crossed HTC releases some device-specific code that optimizes the camera quality and if we're REALLY lucky, some kind of in-home audio driver solution that closely mimics Beats.

I personally think the current nightly is good enough to be stable.
It will come out in due time, but don't expect it by the end of the week, or even month. The current version is reasonably stable, but expect battery life to take a hit should you use it.
It will come with this http://m.cnet.com/news/htc-one-google-edition-its-real-and-coming-in-summer/57586184

Hello,
I am quite new here along with quite new with my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0.
I was wondering if anyone was working on 4.4 KitKat for the device. I haven't really heard or seen much around here describing the matter, so I thought about asking it to the general public.
Any constructive feedback whatsoever would be fantastic!
Thank you for those still supporting this device!
I'm trying the CM 11 on my Note 1 but the only thing that I can say is: Is only a fu***** AOSP based Rom! I think that with the new year max. we will get a stable and fully customizzable CM 11, for now the CM is an AOSP ROM and nothing more... for now remain on a stable 4.2.2 or 4.3.1, that's the better thing to do.
There are KitKat ROMs!
YES! There are finally some nice and stable kitkat roms for the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0! I currently have CM11 (4.4.2) on my player. There are also some ROMs like SlimKat, BeanStalk4.4+, and more! You just have to look more at the forums. Seek, and you will eventually find. Like some of the ones mentioned here:
