I (finally) upgraded to the Official CM7.1 and Google apps yesterday (From CM 7.03).
Wiped Dalvik only.
After the update, Market worked fine, and there was an update to Google Maps. I upgraded, did a quick test, and it seemed fine.
A few hours later, there was another Google Maps update to 6.0 (B) with Inside Maps, so I updated again -- Normal update through the Market.
I can navigate around, but doing much anything results in a freeze and FC pretty quickly.
Nothing else at all has FC since I updated.
Now the Web-Based Market says maps is incompatible with my device, but there is no official way to get a working, current Google Maps.
I know I can re-install Google Apps, but I just wanted to warn people not to try 6.0 for the moment.
I'll post a logcat if anybody wants it.
Similar running GtabComb3.3 (B/L 1.2) , but the tablet will reboot shortly after launching Maps (latest updated version).
It'll reboot shortly after launching......while in Maps using it or if you just launch Maps (like accidentally or such) and exit back to the homescreen........a few seconds later...REBOOT. Every time.
I've uninstalled updates so the tablet doesn't reboot, but I need the previous version so I can at least be more updated than what comes with GtabComb
6.0.1 is out now. It worked for a few seconds and then same problem as before. Reboot and broken wifi. Had to uninstall update again.
Yes, Google Maps 6.x will not work on the Gingerbread ROMs for the GTablet... looks like an opengl issue...
Google maps reboot
So has anyone found a way to install an older version. I have tried un-installing maps and installing an old version. Keep getting, unable to install.
I have been having the same issue on both CM7 and Flashback.
**EDIT**
After looking into the GAPPS zip I had, apparently Maps is not included. So I found a copy of maps version 5.10.1 laying around on my PC, I added it to the package and tested it. No Force closes so far. I have uploaded it for anyone else having this issue.

Just saw there was a 6.03 update for my Dell Streak.
So I updated the Streak, pulled the .apk, and installed it on the GTab.
No luck. 6.03 is no better. Constant hang and FC.
I also have a 5.x around that I was smart enough to pull from the Streak before the first update to 6.0x, but thanks to trock79 for posting a fall back.
Wait for 6.04, rinse, repeat.
It's fixed!
I updated the latest maps (released on 4/25) and the issue has been fixed!
Hurray!!!
Not for me.
I wiped everything, and upgraded to Official CyanogenMod 7.2 RC2.
Installed latest (Current) Maps from market.
--> Almost immediate bad crash requiring a reboot.
I wonder if this has anything to do with 1.1 B/L vs. 1.2?
I'm on 1.1 (never upgraded)
maps crash
I was running Flashlight, GB, 1.2 and was crashing. Flashed CM 7.2 RC 3, still crashes.
So is the current fix to get a working google maps is to stick with the v.5 install?
I'm on G-Harmony ICS, bootloader 1.2
Hi guys,
Quick run down.
No root, official rom, up to date.
However, market is stucked at version 2.14 or something. I understand that it should update itself to the latest version but with no luck, nothing happened after a long time.
Tried opening the market app, but force closes few seconds after. Tried going into manage applications, force closed it. However, the clear cache tab remained unavailable to click for god knows how long, so i cant clear cache.. Also tried web market to see if i can dl some apps but phone did not appear on the list.
Anything i can do to fix this?
Thanks a lot guys
Try and root it then fix permissions through recovery.

did you clear the markets Data? instead of the cache. this normaly fixes all the issues with the market FC's for me
it should ask you to accept hte EULA again when you launch it. then you know you did it right
Pvy.
I have a Nexus 6p with the latest Pure Nexus 7.1.1 ROM installed with Open GApps from 1/11 and whenever I try to open the Contacts app it force closes saying "com.google.android.contacts.GoogleContactsApplication has stopped." I had a Substratum theme installed but I removed it trying to troubleshoot this issue, but that didn't help. If I try to update the Contacts app via the Play Store it downloads but then doesn't install (no error, it just doesn't doesn't install).
Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped and I don't particularly feel like doing a factory reset since I'm not even sure if it will resolve the issue. Thanks!
My Moto G4 is running stock Nougat with the latest (Sept) security update. For some reason, the Google and Chrome apps will not update. They show up in the play store as having updates available (Chrome is version 55.xx) but as soon as I select update, it starts and immediately stops the download. I have tried clearing the play store cache and data but that did not fix the problem. Is there something else I should try? Can I download the latest .apk and install that or will that mess something up? I will add that both apps seem to be working fine.
Update: I downloaded the .apk files and installed them and everything seems to be working fine. Thread can be considered closed and moderator is free to delete it.
After updating my H930 to the newest software 22J the apps Photos and Play Store are keep crashing when I try to open them.
I already tried these steps:
- Clearing cache and data from both apps
- deinstalling updates and try to open
- update to the latest beta
- deactivating Xposed
- deactivating Magisk module Anxious
- hiding magisk from both apps
Do you guys can help me to fix this issue without to make a factory reset?
Try to upgrade Android System WebView.

Thank you for the suggestion but it wasn't that.
Just found the solution I forgot to update my substratum overlay.
Sorry for my stupidity?, this thread can be closed

Substratum is supposed to automatically disable all overlays if it detects the app it's theming is constantly crashing. I was about to suggest this solution before reading the thread, because that's my issue 99% of the time.
Explore the inner workings of Substratum. It should have a feature to disable overlays if there are issues.
