Rooting my 4.3 device with the 4.1 rooting file? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
my current version is 4.3 official firmware, and I want to root it, but on Chainfire's website it says that the file is for Android 4.1:
https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ (Search "i9300")
Does that mean that this root will only work for 4.1, or it should work for any version that is also above 4.1?
Thanks!

[Q] How to update software manually?

Hello everyone, recently my friend wants to update his S3 android from 4.1.2 to 4.4, but however the OTA software update shows that the newest update has been installed
How can he get an update of android of his S3? His phone information are as below , please ignore the Chinese characters
Btw he wants to try UPSM on his phone, does he need to root his phone
Please help me
No 4.4 update was released for i9300. The last firmware is 4.3 (you can find HERE).
If he really wants 4.4 or above... yeah he needs root. The most similar ROM for i9300 version 4.4 is the back-to-n00t by arter97.
Cheers.

No, if 4.1 is official just download and flash via Odin the 4.3.

Root for Xperia Tablet Z

Hi,
i've downgraded my Tablet Z from CM13 to Stock-ROM 4.4.4 using Emma (there is also 5.1.1 available in Emma). But now i can't find any howto to root the device again. The only guides i've found doesn't work with android 4.4.4 or 5.1.1. With Flashtool i can't downgrade to a Firmware lower than 4.4.4 because Flashtool can't find the Firmware i've downloaded (see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71664260&postcount=3480).
So i have the problem: i can't downgrade to a rootable Firmware and i can't root the Fimrware i can install.
Is there any other Way to downgrade or any root with 4.4.4/5.1.1?
PiereM
I'm running into issues myself, I've been trying to follow along with the video I found on Rootjunky's channel but when I load the firmware onto my tablet it gets into a reboot loop never getting past the SONY logo. I reload firmware on it using the Emma program from Sony (which only gives me the Nordic firmware for some reason) which is 5.1.1.
I have no clue how to get around this.

Install any stock firmware with Flashtool 0.9.18.6 and root it with vroot, kingroot (5.1.1) or other tools (firmware version specific).
