Hi.
I'll try to explain this, but it's not that easy since my english isn't the best. So please, forgive me.
I have the auto-backup for the data on my Z5C, so every night, when I charge it, the backup starts, but that's it. It stops at the beginning and the only way I found to make it complete the backup is opening the notification of the backup (which says it's still doing it) and then, magically, it really starts working and doing the back up. This is so annoying for me and I have no idea on what it depends on.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

do you use any app for hibernation etc.? or stamina mode? maybe something is blocking the backup process in background, for example greenify (if you use it)

Running CM 6.1.3 v006.
First off, titanium backup is a REALLY REALLY misleading tool. Uninstall means "fugeddaboutit", I had to restore my whole ROM because you can't restore stuff you uninstall, which makes the whole point of a backup moot....
1) So, all this fun later, everything is working great, except I cannot ADD contacts...well, I kind of can, they just don't show up in my phonebook. It says "contact added", their name is next to the number, but they don't show up in the phonebook like they used to. I unfroze all the apps I had frozen and it works fine now...so I'm just trying to pinpoint which app it was that caused the problem.
IT was NOT infiniteview or SMS, but maybe someone else has had this and can help so I don't have to try 1 by 1?
2) How can I tell if I have the CM 6.1.3 v006 hotfix? I had a stock v006 rom, backuped in xRecovery, installed the hotfix, screwed up my system with titanium backup, then restored the stock 6.1.3 ROM. Then, I installed the hotfix again, and after a few reboots installed it again (don't ask). Have I screwed anything up? How can I check that I have all the hotfix files and no duplicates clogging up my system?
3) Sometimes, on some WIFI connections, my WIFI disconnects after a random period of time. Is this some feature that is putting my phone into deep sleep or something? It happens randomly only on some WIFI connections...
4) Can I freeze and uninstall spare parts without any worry? It doesn't seem to do anything for me, but is that the only thing governing the CPU? I like the underclock it provides, but does stock CM 6.1.3 v006 provide it even if I turn off spare parts?
Lastly, a fun little issue. I have a picture that is panoramic...but I can't seem to make it my wallpaper because it only scrolls 10% or so per home screen, not 100%. Is there a way to change this?
THANKS FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
TB works just fine and isn't misleading at all. If you want to restore something after you uninstall you first need to BACK IT UP, hence the name Titanium Backup and not "Magic Restorer of all Apps you Deleted!".
Spare parts is just a settings menu and has nothing to do with your CPU scaling/voltage.
If you installed the hotfix then you have it. All your issues are your own fault and if you would simply read the instructions and actually follow them step by step you wouldn't be having any troubles.

Actually, not. It's well known that you should freeze apps instead of uninstalling them...because there is no way to re-install them. I have backed up everything and it did not want to restore after an uninstall. Try it!

I did follow everything step-by-step, but when it comes to things like performing a restore, it helps to know if I need to clear cache again, etc.
Regarding the contact and wifi problems...yes they are my fault, perhaps, but that doesn't mean that someone else can't help me solve them instead of acting like a ****. I've searched a lot for the contact problem I have and have found nothing, but someone who had the same problem before me can easily say "hey, this is the issue, just unfreeze _____".
Follow-up:
I had some free time so I tried apps 1-by-1 and the culprit was "contact sync", the google app. With it frozen I could not add contacts, but unfrozen was perfectly fine!
My advice: do not freeze/remove it.
You can also add contact on google website if you are synching
I have a rooted Evo LTE on the factory ROM and everything has been fine... until just now. I decided I wanted to recover my call log from my Evo 4G backup via Titanium Backup. Now, after a reboot, I get a popup that says:
"android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC? This will help us improve our products."
The problem is that when I click 'Don't Send' it goes away but then pops up again less than a second later. It literally will continue over and over again w/o any end in sight. My phone is bork and I don't know how to un-bork it at this point. Sometimes I wish life had an 'undo' option as I don't even really care that much about my call log. I was just trying to get fancy I guess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my phone is pretty much useless at the moment.
I was able to navigate back to 'contacts/calls' within Titanium Backup between popups and click freeze. It froze and I no longer get those popups but I now get"
'Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped'
In addition to this I assume that my phone, contacts or something also doesn't work now that I've frozen 'Call/Contacts' but now maybe at least I can delete and restore this file with a proper working one?? Anyone??
Did you accidentally restore the Contacts/Calls application instead of the list?
You could have just synced the contacts to your gmail account on the OG EVO and they would have synced automatically on the LTE.

Yes, this is what I did. It was even in GREEN text which Titanium Backup says is safe to restore and to avoid RED. How can I fix this?

It wasn't the contacts I was after. All of my contacts are sync'd to Google so with the new phone I had all my contacts after logging into Google. I was just trying to restore my call log from my previous phone when all this began.
That Titanium Backup item is data only. Go back to Titanium to that line item, unfreeze, then wipe data. You should be good to go. Then maybe reboot to make sure there are no more force closes.
Edit: Actually, I may be wrong. There could be an apk with that as well. What I said above is still worth a shot, though. If it doesn't work you will have to find a way to restore that apk. Are you running a custom ROM?

That's the weird part was I thought that I did just restore the data. I'm about 97% sure that's what I selected in fact. I figured it would leave the app as is and then restore the data and bam! I'd have my call log. That's not the case. Clearing data from Titanium Backup was going to be my next step but didn't want to bork things any further. If you're saying it's safe to do I will attempt that.

No, like I said in the OP I've rooted a stock Evo LTE and that's all. Nothing else has been done.
Reboot into recovery (vol up + vol down + power and as soon as the phone powers off, let go of vol up) and fix permissions.

I agree and I need to. I need to unlock my bootloader first and I started the process but didn't have the files I needed at like step 8 or whatever it was. I guess I'll try harder to find what I need when I get some more time.
In case anyone is curious, the problem exists because you have a Facebook friend that has a birthday on February 29th. Either remove the Facebook friend or don't sync calendar data from Facebook. You will need to clear the data first and then re-sync contacts and live feed for it to work. Hope this helps. This is a bug that HTC needs to fix.

Holy blast from the past. The issue has long since been corrected.
My SGS2 was suddenly rebooted itself when I connected it to my PC. It didn't happen before and it does not happen now.
My question is, when something goes wrong and the phone suddenly reboots or a specific app crashes or whatever (just one time, not on a regular basis) how can I know if any damage was done, to data for example, like a corruption, and whether or not should I reinstall this app or wipe and flash the phone?
I was just about to finish configuring settings and installing apps after a clean ROM installation when it happened, and so I thought about doing everything all over again because I wanted it to be "perfect".
If anyone shares this annoying habit I'm sure you will know what I'm talking about. I figured out I might just ask a pro about this thing I usually do, as I am aware that it is possible that there is absolutely zero logic to it and it is all in my head
Thanks.
P.S: Didn't post in the device forum because I figured it is a question that is based on the Android OS nature rather than subjective to a specific device model.

Is there any reason to re-flash just because of a single crash? if so, please elaborate as I am very willing to understand the considerations.
Thanks.
Anyone?
why dont you do a research on logcats !!
if you can understand logcats fine or else just post the logcats in the forum of the app that causes crashing!!

Because I'm not asking about troubleshooting a crashing app... nor a faulty OS installation.
I'm asking about the general idea of re-flashing a phone just because the OS suddenly crashed, one time only, without any special use for the moment.
You said your phone rebooted after you connected it to the pc. This the problem. No need to reflash imo, just close all apps when connecting next time.

what do you mean by OS suddenly crashed.. is it that it rebooted all of a sudden out of nowhere or are there some system process that gets FC ?
if its happened one time only no need to reflash... if problem exists reflash with proper wipe..

Kind of out of nowhere, yes, but even if it had something to do with me connecting it to the PC too soon after starting the phone - I am still curious if a sudden crash (a single one out of nowhere) can make some sort of a damage to any system or app data that it is recommended to re-flash or something.
I really hope you got my point. I used all my English skills to this one!

android can crash when it runs out of RAM. Doesnt necessarily mean that a system app is damaged. if however a system app is damaged it will show up as a FC (force close) rather than a reboot.
so still im of the opininon that you dont have to reflash you rom yet...
How exactly did it work? Did you connect your phone to PC and then it rebooted?
By closing all apps i meant removing everything from recents screen.

your rom is fine. The reboot used to happen to me from time to time when i plugged it into the computer or when i uninstalled an app. It had something to do with an app being executed in the background and not releasing every ressource. This didnt happen on the last few builds for me though...

I have an issue that I cannot pinpoint the cause of figure out a solution to. Maybe someone here can help.
My Sprint G3 is always crashing and rebooting the launcher (phone doesn't turn off, just closes evwrything). I'd be in the middle of any app and it will randomly close every single app. The running apps page always displays after every crash. It's as if too much ram is being used, but it will happen even after a fresh phone restart and launching something simple like WhatsApp.
My phone is rooted via the Stump one click method. I don't have any type of rooted mods enabled, only Adfree. I use Nova launcher (paid & updated).
Is there some sort of event viewer that will log the activity of the phone so I probably someone here can see what might be causing the phone to crash? I'm tempted to Unroot and restore back to stock... But if I can avoid that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks. I've reverted my adfree hosts file and uninstalled it. But I think the issue persists. If I try to use any app that clears cache, specifically Clean Master, when it's doing the scan of apps it'll crash midway through the scan. If I go to system settings > Apps & wait for all the downloaded apps to load the details, it'll crash there too.
This is the oddest thing.
Edit:
This visual may help. It's a video of me running Clean Master & seeing how it just crashes. I can replicate this issue every time like this, but the crashes are random when using other apps.

Ok, so I began uninstalling some apps that I thought may have been the issue... Which they weren't as the crashing still continues. I decided to reboot under safe mode and the problem occurs there too.
I honestly cannot recall if this began before or after rooting with stump. I may have to Unroot & factory restore. =/

I'm at a loss... The 2 things I mentioned can be the culprits, but not for you I guess. Some other ideas?
Did you uninstall Stump after getting root?
Have you froze or uninstalled any system apps/ priv-apps?
It might even be Nova is having issues.

Tried to unroot but the phone doesn't move past the "Firmware Update. Do not unplug the phone..." screen after holding Volume Up & plugging into the computer. I installed the drivers before hand. I may end up having to go to Sprint and exchange the phone for another one.

TL;DR version = Yes, I did fix it. Factory restore did the trick.
A few days after my last post the phone wasn't as bad as the video. It would still crash and reset but mainly after heavy app usage or when trying to clear app cache using any app like Clean Master.
Once my storage reached about 40% used and I couldn't clear the cache, I began to get constant Play Store error messages. No apps would update. I think it was error 483 or something close to hat number.
Since I couldn't flash back to stock because the drivers wouldn't install, I gave up and tried a factory reset. I nearly sh-t myself bc once I confirmed the restore, the phone didn't want to automatically reset per the instructions. I pressed the button multiple times and nothing. I pulled the battery and when I turned it back on, I got the initial screen with the "powered by android" and then black. It did not wanna do anything. Pulled battery again, same outcome. It left it for maybe 10min and still nothing.
I was ready to go back to sprint and see if I could exchange the phone. While researching the closest store, the phone beeped and the initial android setup screen appeared. This was about 25min of waiting on a black screen.
The phone is now back to working order and it's still rooted. There must have been a corrupt file that was erased/restored once the g3 decided to behave.

Congrats!
My G3 is crashing in the similar manner as the video you uploaded.
Except that it only happens when I'm in office connected to office wifi with almost no cellular reception.
On top of that, as far as I could tell... only two apps are causing the launcher to crash... the game Clash of Clans and LINE.
Very very strange....
Hi. As the title says i'm constantly being hit with this issue. Whenever i try to backup my phone via smart switch PC, it backups up everything except APPLICATION data.
Like, i have about 70 apps on my phone which hang around 10GB of space. It says there are no applications installed and won't back them up no matter what.
I've tried this with an older version of smart switch, as well with the latest one. I'm stuck and i don't know what to do.
Strange thing is that this worked last time i did this, few months ago. But i can't figure out what is wrong this time, as it's the same version of smart switch.
Anyone know any workarounds? Thanks in advance.
Has anyone ever experienced this particular issue? I'm still stuck and would like to back up my phone. If anyone can help me out, i'd appreciate it, thanks.

Sorry for late reply. I am not rooted, can i still backup everything to titanium/helium? Also i've never heard of hope before. I am mainly looking for a way to backup everything without being rooted. It used to work with Smart Switch but not lately. It's the app data that i want the most to back up.
