[HELP][QA] GS3 Download mode not Detected By Odin - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone, few months ago I have tried and successfully rooted/flashed my GS3 and used other ROM. Then I got weary of it and I have installed/revert original android 4.3 stock ROM to my device. last month.
Now my issue is that my phone is getting detected via Odin(when it is turned on) and KIES/Smart switch, But when I put it into the Download Mode phone it isn't getting detected by Odin. What I actually want to do now is to root, flash another custom ROM in order to play PKGO
But now even the Unified toolkit is not working and i have tried many tuts I can search. Please Help me out.
I have also tried to use different cables.
1. I have already installed drivers and phone is detected via KIES and ODIN when it is turned on.. Then suddenly disconnects whenever I put into download mode.
2. USB debugging is activated/On
3. I'm using 4.3 stock ROM.
4. I'm using PC with Windows 10 OS. but i think that is not the issue since it's being detected when it's turned on (means not using download mode).
I found similar issue thread but no solutions were yet available.

root using kingroot app for android, and then use flashify to flash latest TWRP on you r device simple. If king root doesnt work, use towelroot. (I dont own this device now, because it got replaced by nexus 5 yesterday, but i think it will help )

If kingroot and towelroot fails, use this http://www.iroot.com/how-to-articles/simple-way-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-without-computer.html

FIXED
I downloaded via the app store an app called "Airdroid" which allows you to move files from your pc to your phone whilst both devices share the same Network!
Moved a new Rom onto my phone and rebooted it into Recovery mode
> Install Zip from SDcard located my main file and installed it.
applied the update the same way, after restarting ,it threw a bunch of random error messaged around so I used the app CWM which comes with the ROM
option : FLASH KERNEL
located same rom as before and installed it with CWM followed by a reboot I used the option Flash Update in CWM and updated Griskelo Rom .
SO thank god it worked no error messaged and my USB works again so Odin can get back to work
Most likely there is a much easier way but this is what I figured out myself and as this forum says before you sign up... You are a noob any ways !
lol
hope I helped somebody with this and hope someone else posts the easier way beneath this

[Q] I9300: Cannot connect to PC when in Download Mode

After unrooting, by installing stock and then updating, from Samsung, to Android Jelly Bean 4.3, I am unable to get the computer to see my phone when in download mode. Further, when connected to the phone by adb, when I issue the command, to reboot in 'bootloader mode', it just does a normal restart. I need to unroot because the phone's IMEI is corrupted and I want to use the efs backup to get it reinstated. I don't know of any way to root that doesn't require 'Download Mode' to work.
So, in summary:
The phone is currently not rooted, it has stock Android 4.3.
I can access the phone via adb.
I also have Android SDK on my computer so have the availability of 'fastboot' in addition to adb.
I can switch to Download mode on the phone, in the normal way, but the computer can't see the phone when in that mode.
Please can anyone advise on how I should proceed in order to root the phone, given the above constraints, or regain the use of a working 'Download Mode' ?
Search for many similar posts on pc connections to download mode, there isn't one solution.

Thank you for your reply. Despite the quote, I had already searched and I had not come up with a solution that worked. That is why I posted a question. All the stuff about trying another socket and it could be the lead are basic. The lead is perfectly OK - I used it to flash the stock ROM. Then the phone failed to connect in Download mode. I've use both Linux and Windows in a Virtualbox to communicate in Download mode before. Both could see the phone in Download mode before I did the stock flash.
delete all samsung driver
rebbot windows
install driver
Thanks for the suggestion. The non-connection also applies to Linux, which is the host system, so it isn't just a Windows problem. Previously I could use either OS with no problem.
However, I did, by chance, find a solution, not a good one but it works. I have to disconnect the battery for a long time - minimum time not known. I tried 10 minutes and that didn't work so I tried waiting a much longer time. I am then able to use download mode for one instance. Then it becomes unusable again so next time I have to go through the battery removal process again.
By chance I found a similar post where a similar stock install had resulted in the same problem. So I posted my solution on there also.

[Q] Phone is dead; can't flash ROM nor recovery!

Hello
I bought a Lenovo p780 from a Chinese website 6 months ago (4gb), rooted.
I faced a problem with the signal of sim cards "invalid imei", so I tried to install TWRP recovery using a tutorial I saw online to use the recovery to install a new "modem" file. I used Mobileuncle app to do this but this step caused my phone to enter a bootloop, and the only way to get rid of this loop is to press the reset button whenever you want to turn the phone on! I tried to install other recoveries using Mobileuncle but nothing has changed too!
I also tried to flash a stock rom using sp flashtool but it just didn't work!! I tried many stock roms versions and many versions of the flash tool programs but when I press "firmware upgrade" or "download" nothing happens! believe me I tried everything to make this happen, I even tried to do this on different computers (win 7 and win 8.1) but I got the same result: nothing! No need to mention that I've already installed all the USB drivers on my computers. I read every single word in every single tutorial I found (including tutorials from this forum), but it's always the same failure!
I tried to change the modem file using Root Explorer but I missed with some folders and now even the Wifi doesn't work. All I need now is get my phone functions as normal with stock rom or with a custom rom.
I would be very appreciated if you can tell my what's wrong and why I can't flash a rom to my phone although it's not bricked at all and I can turn it on!

Odin v3.09 does not detect my GT-i9100G in any possible way.

So, I own 2 devices with custom ROMs all flashed onto them. (One is running Android 4.4.2 and another is runing 5.0.2)
So, I decided to take an old GT-i9100G and attempt to flash Android 5.0 onto it.
Unfortunately, the CWM recovery that was installed was unstable, and would result in a reboot back into the ROM. I attempted to flash another recovery with Odin, but that bricked the phone on startup. I reflashed another kernel and it booted up fine, but restarts randomly, making it unusable for more than a few minutes.
So, I've downloaded the stock firmware from SamMobile, and tried flashing it, but for some reason, Odin flat out refuses to detect the phone. Even if it's in normal or download mode. I tried the Samsung USB cable and even the one that came with my LG G3. No dice. USB debugging is enabled too.
Any help is much appreciated. I really want to bring this phone up to date as it's the first Android phone I've ever used and it holds a special place in my heart.
Also, I flashed an Android 5.0.2 ROM to my GT-i9300 not too long ago, so USB drivers are updated.

[Q] Bricked Bell Samsung Galaxy II (GT-I9100M)

Hello everyone, I have a problem with Bell sgs2 and I'm from Ukraine,so please sorry for my English.
A little bit of history: my sister from Canada closed her contract with bell and sent me the phone. As it turned out, device was still locked, so I tried to download the latest firmware and make unlock. Firstly I tried to unlock the phone running Android 2.3.3 with custom kernel by using galaxy_S unlock app, it was succesful, but I wanted latest firmware and tried to flash different unofficial ROMs. Every time I did it nothing happened because of different errors.
Problem starts here:
Then installed rooted official ROM Android ICS with Odin and noticed that in Kies there was an update for my device. Tried to install it, but it failed when the phone was in download mode (because of damaged usb cable maybe). In Kies they wrote that I should disconnect device and take out battery. I did it.
Now when I turn it on it stops on Samsung logo. I still can open download mode or stock recovery, which is great. But the problem is that Odin doesn't recognize the phone anymore while it is in download mode. Tried to uninstall, install drivers - nothing happened. The good thing is that I can see my phone with adb when it is in recovery, tried to install some zips from sideload or external sd card - nothing happened ( Error, status 7). So basically I can't install official md5 ROM from sammobile because of Odin and can't find normal zips for recovery.
Please help Will be grateful!!!
