I've got a Z5 Compact (E5803). My AT&T SIM works perfectly fine with it. I tried the E5823 Customized UK firmware (1298-5497 - 32.2.A.0.305_R13C) and the fingerprint works but the AT&T SIM does not. If the phone is on and I insert or eject the SIM it registers and reboots the phone. But otherwise it does not see the SIM. It keeps saying insert SIM.
I could try firmware after firmware but I thought it might be faster to ask here. I just want to use it with my AT&T SIM and have fingerprint working.
Maybe one of the other E5803 firmwares? I'm gonna trying Customized GEL until I hear from others..

why would you use a firmware that is for E5823 and put it on E5803?

Yes, due to legal issues Sony intentionally disabled the fingerprint scanner in the USA firmware version. The fingerprint scanner is physically there though so if you flash another FW it may work. However I am currently having difficulty getting my SIM card to be recognized when I flash to the newest UK version of the E8523

I am getting a E5803, and I live in Australia. Can I easily use Xperifirm and flash the Customized AU on the E5803? I really want the AU baseband/modem.

I also have a US version of the phone (E5803) and also wanted to enable the fingerprint scanner. When I loaded the latest UK version (which is E5823), my SIM (Canadian) was not detected. Bluetooth would also continuously toggle off and on. I'd never tried loading firmware from the other model before, so I just assumed E5803 and E5823 couldn't be mixed. If the AU version works for you, I guess the limitation isn't necessarily the phone model.
Previously I was running Android 6 from the Customized SG (Singapore), and now Android 7 from Customized MY (Malaysia), and both seem to work fine.
The AU version ended up working for me and I haven't looked back since
my e5803 fingerprint scanner works perfect on 7
I have a similar question: just got a Z5c E8523 but using it in the US with AT&T - which firmware should I be using? Customized UK, Customized AUS? Do I still need to flash the MODEM and BASEBAND portions from a US firmware?
Thanks!
If your model number is E5823, the fingerprint sensor should work without any modification. If it is E5803, you'll have to compile or flash a E5823 with any firmware except US. In my personal experience, the AU firmware typically receives firmware updates the fastest.

Okay, so I can't get it to work. I spent all morning trying to get Flashtool to work.
I am trying to flash E5823_32.2.A.5.11_Australia_Generic on my E5803. Each time I get a ERROR - Can't read a byte value.
I initially tried the latest version of Flashtool 0.9.23.2. Then I tried 0.9.18.6 where bricked the device. I then tried 0.9.22.2. Still no luck. I had to re-flash the Customized US version that came with the phone (E5803_32.2.A.5.11_1298-3109).
Should I try flashing the Customized UK version first then try the AU version? Very annoying tbh
Wow, got there in the end (only took me half the day).
After the successful flash of E5803_32.2.A.5.11_1298-3109 after bricking the phone, I tried to flash Customized AU 32.3.A.0.376 / R2D . That one also bricked the phone due to the old version of Flashtool I was using (0.9.22.2). I then tried to flash E5823_32.2.A.5.11_Australia_Generic which now worked.
The main reason I wanted the AU version was for the Baseband... Turns out it was the same lol
you should be able to keep the same modem settings, and the phone should be able to switch configurations when it detects the appropriate bands... provided your carrier is operating at those frequencies.

Don't you have to do something like make the phone think it's a E5823 in build prop first?
Hi there, I recently bought an Z5C (E5803) that was on android 6.1 marshmallow and was Customized Movistar EC, wich is one of my country´s carrier, so 7.0 OTA is long long wait to come.
Long story sort, I used Xperifirm and got 32.3.A.0.376 Customized US for the E5803, flashed and the fingerprint sensor was gone. So I read a little and find out that in US there is no Fingerprint suport for del Z5C.
Then I flashed 32.3.A.0.376 Customized GEL for E5803 and bingo!! Fingerprint sensor worked again.
I don´t think you have to change the firmware for another model for the fingerprint sensor to work.
Hope this help.
Hello,
i use the software XperiFirm to download firmwares for my Z5C.
I live in Austria but there are only three providers in the list from Austria.
I have a phone without any branding and i don't know which one i should use because i am not a user of any of this providers.
Is it possible to use for example the T-Mobile firmware even if i don't have a T-Mobile Sim Card?
And is it also possible to use a Firmware from another country?
Best regards
Zillinda

there might be problem with sim card if you flash USA roms cause they more restriction & ...
but other than that you flash any official firmware with same android version.
:good:
Normally you can use any version for E5823.
The difference between the austrian roms are that providers pack some of their apps into the rom( like "a1 apps" or "mein a1" for example. If you want a rom without provider apps you can use the customized de version for germamy for example.
However you could of course run into a little problem by using a rom from another country that i had myself.
From what you said, i assume you are neither using a1, t-mobile nor drei as your provider. All of the other providers in austria like bob, hot or upc are using the network infrastructure of one of the those 3 big providers by national roaming.
However his could result in you to have allow roaming all the time to use mobile data. Could cause costs if you live near the boarder or if you forget to turn of when you leave country.
I had this problem with the customized de firmware for germany with which i got my device. My provider "Ge org" wasn't recognized correctly. After flashing the A1 firmware( Ge org is using A1 network) all works properly.

I also believe this should be the best choice for you.
If you stay unrooted you should have no problems with OTA updates. Warranty should be afaik no problem if you don't unlock your bootloader, which is not needed to install another stock rom. However i don't know for sure, cause i don't care much about warranty since i repair hardware issues on my devices by myself

That's up to you.
A dirty flash should run and work properly. But a dirty flash (especially when your data and apps is the same as when you where using Android 6.0) can result in unexpected behavior:
- Crashing apps
- Wakelocks
- Battery drain
...
So it's always better to do a clean install when you upgrade to android 7.0
If you don't care about the possibility of instable behaviour or battery inefficiency, then a dirty flash (keeping your data/apps) will be much easier/faster.
Hi Guys Im using a SM-G965N in the UK, when I try to register for the Pie Beta it give me the message "Your sim card doenst match the service provider software on your phone. This is common if you've changed service providers or if your phone and SIM card are from different country's" Im using the 3 network in the UK and the phone is LGu... Anyone have any work around..?
Anyone? I have exactly same problem. I got sm-g965n with LG Uplus carrier living in other country. Can i just flask stock firmware in my region to get rid of all the bloats and also is there a way for me to participate in pie beta? I can also swap this one with carrier unlocked SD845 version. Can i flash US stock on that one also?
Hi guys, I'm running into a similar issue with G965F device in Canada.
Here's what I've been able to piece together. Each device is a hardware variant and can use a specific set of firmware variants (sometimes called Multi-CSC). Your hardware variant is G965N. And if you look at sammobile for hardware variant, you can see the set of firmware available for this specific device. Unfortunately for you, there is ONLY Korean firmware for this hardware variant. For me, I have many more options but still no Canada!
It it completely inadvisable to flash the firmware onto your device that is not specifically tailored to your hardware. It's especially stupid when the firmware is tailored for an entirely different chipset (for example, Exynos firmware for Snapdragon hardware). But even if the devices use the same chipset, there may exist other hardware differences that will cause instability/errors/ bricks/unknown.
So as far as I can tell, we're all screwed. Have a nice day
Great news. I got into Pie Beta with my g965n. I was about to change my phone when i found LG Uplus sim card in my country. I put the sim card in and was able to register and download OTA. Now i am on android pie.

I found it almost by luck. I was at this phone store when i randomly asked from a lady selling smart phones whether she had Lg Uplus sim card or not and she said yeah i got few. You can have one. That is how i found one. I wouldn't be able to ship it outside country without reliable shipping service in my country.

Hi there,
You can try this website.
https://lg-firmwares.com/
or
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmq710ulm-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
since your phone is network unlocked I think it might be safe to reinstall the firmware.
However, if you have your doubts feel free to search it online or ask LG directly.

Thank you. I found out that they never released the KDZ for the factory unlocked phones (region USA). So, the only way to update my phone would be to flash carrier firmware, which, is kinda risky, since it would technically be a crossflash. I would likely lose certain features, such as Wi-Fi calling and/or VoLTE. One of the few firmwares that supports wi-fi calling is the T-Mobile firmware, but I wouldn't flash that firmware because it is different than the hardware of my phone (their model has 2 GB of RAM, mine has 3 GB of RAM, etc...

Hi there,
Yes, while I was researching it online I found two firmware for this phone for the US region. But anyways have you tried using a PC suite from LG to reinstall the firmware. Or have you tried going on to the recovery mode and just reset the whole device. Or better try to install a custom ROM, to be honest I think it might be okay if you flashed a Europe region firmware, but make sure you back up the current firmware. I flashed a Samsung phone which was used to be locked and then I unlocked it after that I flashed the carrier firmware and it didnt carrier locked my phone. But anyways try your best.

I tried to flash Sony Xperia 1 SOV40 into J8110 Global Rom, but does not have voLTE available for Malaysia
Someone told that can mix SEA version sin with Global Version sin, i have tried to move the modem.sin (All three from J9110 SEA version) into the J8110 but still not working
seeking for any advice to make voLTE work
Thanks and appreciated
You can try Customized JP OEMs.
Don't need to do the modems Just flash the OEMs only.
It will definitely work.
I have J91110 and it worked for me.
If you already have the files than thats fine.
If NOT you start it with the XperiFIrm and start download. When it says downloading 3 of 3 then stop downloading.
Open Flashtool and Use Files Decrypt to extract the OEMs.
Just flash anything with the name OEM using newflasher.

Malaysian here, which global ROM your guy using? I try all j8110 ROM + OEM still can't get the volte
Interesting, I've tried flashing OEM files from customized JP/SEA/UK into my J8110 variant, but still can't get VOLTE working, I tried flashing JP oem files, all it gave me is a corrupted bootloader, (I figured it may have been caused by flashing 3 different firmwares onto my device) , My last option is to factory reset it.
Thanks for this, I have an Xperia 1 AU KDDI Japan SOV40 flashed with J8110 UK Firmware, and flashed Customized Japan OEM for volte, now volte working, by the way I'm from the Philippines and I use DITO Telecommunity SIM which they don't have 2G and 3G Networks, only 4G and 5G that's why to use calls you need VOLTE Enabled on your device.

Where did you get OEM from? Still try a solution how to make it work but still haven't found any better steps to do since I'm afraid of bootloop or something else.
Now I see that 5G are officially announced before, a lot of telcos had to discontinued 2G and 3G networks. 2G network in Malaysia will stop working soon. Not sure when it is.

I just installed Customized JP OEM by following on the first page's instruction before I formatted my phone. But nothing changed. After that, I tried formatting my phone without flashing oem but the result shows nothing about VoLTE. So, I just keep using it without VoLTE function because I don't wanna take a risk to install it again due to afraid of having a bootloop if I feel hesitated to make it work.
But, I will try to find another way to fix that problem soon if I got one.
I recently buy Xperia 1 SOV40 single sim. Seller say that Umobile and YES doesn't work in this model. I try insert Umobile sim and can be use to call and internet. I not sure about VoLTE. Do I need to flash any firmware to make sure Umobile get VoLTE? Or SOV40 not support Umobile VoLTE frequency?
Please help me with Volte,
Really need it
