I need help rooting my SM-J320V. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently own the newest model of the Samsung galaxy J3 (SM-J320V).
If you search it up, literally the only other thing you will find on it is its specs, and there is nothing on this forum about it.
ALL of the rooting tutorials I have seen are of variants, such as the J320P or other things.
Seriously, I have looked everywhere and tried every single one click root, but so far all of them have failed.
ANY sort of help or something to help me root my phone would be appreciated
I know that I'm probably in a minority here, as all the other models of this phone seem to be rootable, but I can't find any info on how to root this, but I'm sure someone else on this forum has this problem.
It would really be a HUGE favor if someone could reach out and help me root my phone.
Thanks!

I just got this phone last week and I'm still searching for a root method .

Can you upload that file you have? I need to take a look at it.
I have helped gain root on several of these devices so far. This one may be able to be added to the list.
See the forum here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-j3-2016
.

Has any progress been made in this?

Yes my friend I Will gladly assist you...... your going to download a boot tar and sboot file meant for engineering (engineers need to obviously be able to do what ever the **** they want to on the device in order do their job) point being once you flash the eng boot/sboot file in the
AP slot in Odin 3 you set selinux to permissive after doing this download kingroot and let it take over your phone temporarily allow device admin allow all permissions etc. You will be going at kingroot for a good while .....all night?? Maybe ...but be disciplined and you will gain root keep retrying root over and over
Pm for files

Sorry Kingoroot failed to root the device even after flashing ENG Boot.
Tried too many times.
Now trying Kingroot.
Damn WiFi not working after ENG Boot So Kingroot APK is not working. ;(
Kingroot PC version also failed to root the phone.

You look in your about phone section and se for android set to permissive?
Also oem unlock ticked and usb debug assuming you have developer options enabled if not u need to enable it by tapping on build number in about phone 10 times if u did not do that that is why
Download hidden menus apk off apkpure.com and under user debug google oem mode to "on"
Hope this helps hit me up if u have other issues this phone will be rooted with kingroot u just need to keep pressing root again and again no matter if it fails a few times or not

LG k7 ms330

Okay first thing first...
This thread is now under new & better management as it is now only about the device itself, but also rooting, custom recoveries, & even xposed specifically for the LG K7!
if you have any questions about any of the fun topics here please feel free to PM/post your questions here.
LGMS330 source code
Somehow & IDK how, but I downloaded the source code for the lgms330 & it also comes with instruction to make a custom rom with it!!!!!
I'm so excited!!! once I get my phone back from LG to fix my phone & send it back to me...(they won't let me fix it myself)
Im going to build cyanogenmod & TWRP for LG K7 in the meantime
so here's the download link for the LGMS330 source code...it contains the kernel as well!

1. I rooted my lg k7 (metropcs)
2. I created an app to install the xposed framework WITHOUT A RECOVERY
3. It work! but after further testing my app....it started to reboot my phone whenever I tried to run the installer script...since xposed framework was already installed from the first initial attempt....it way suppose to say it way already installed...but this only happen on this device but NOT my shield TV(i do NOT know why & do NOT have any logs)
4. after my latest testing of getting everything to work...I tried the latest concept I came up with a better way to install xposed framework succesfully...
5. it failed completely since now I soft brick my device...so in order to fix my device now.... is for anyone who has this device & has root could give me the following:
1. boot.img
2.userdata.img
3. recovery.img
4. system.img
5. other img file here
I really need this phone to work again because app development & (hacking) is a hobby of mine & the lg k7 is my only phone that has root & my only MAIN phone too since my kyocera hydro wave sucks & its sorta hardware broken....
also I did explained a few thing about the app im in the middle making...BUT, Once I fix this bug(s)....I will try to release it on google play or somewhere on here
you won't believe how easy it was...to do it without a recovery!

Read that some one made the KINGROOT TO CHAINFIRE SU conversation but then ended in a bootloop. I need to know if the switch was the cause or was it because of something else? I would love to switch and have a terminal script to do so but not chancing a brick or loop.

So as soon as i do a rom dumo and make a library of stock images to post im going to start a busyboc and see what i can do. i have 2 and endless possibilities of complete restore if nothing happes to the chassis.
:cyclops:
And from what i see is a boom in one click rooters messing up binary and tripping knox and bootloops are the ffirst occurence of little knowledge ..... bootloops keep the kiddies busy becoming Adults. I had bootloops when i was a kid too.but the FRP binary pick up and kknox kickin half of us {me included} on the knobel kernel...... im sick of bootloops tooo

Ok ok........ would a senior developer help me out a little.... heres what i wanna post...... unboxing 2) lg ms330 k7 metro mobile devices and romdump.... going to do all partitions raw .img and .tar zips with exceptions that must be in place to use as recovery ....... root solution .... or root failure lol... recovery images with all info (ill make sure to flip the goo.gl FRP switch the wrong way once ! Joke joke....) ...... i didnt see a forum on posting real official facts in official forumns unnocially....
Well itll be about 12 hours any way ..... someone will let me know..... i have noticed that no one has really posted a tried root solution... guide.... its got alot of ppl anxious so maybe this will help. Well there are a couple but they are all loopy unfortunately

I used the latest kingroot from the official site to root - then used Supersu Me from the Playstore to replace kingroot with Chainfire's Supersu. Worked like a charm, not a single issue.

I havent tried to install supersu in my terminal app (yet) I just finished on my app & just started testing it on my own....I will try to add a supersu option for anyone who has root, but not from supersu
It seems most can't understand the situstion im in....
I actually rooted my device, but the complications came after when i made an app to install the xposed framework...it worked the first time, but when i tried to install it again to see what will happen...the app crashed & rebooted my phone...after the third attempt I was left with a brick....
So my issue here is that I DID NOT have trouble on gaining root....HOWEVER I figured out why my app broke my phone & I fixed my issue(s) & added many safety protocols to be initated if the the same case ever happen again

i have had terrible luck with LG taking root and then Loopburn in the past and im just waiting to see these under "performance" conditions where the android system exSU id really crunched .... thats when the ls770 went bonkers along with another i got siittin in the "test me im done" pile lol
Is there a stone cold reliable method to root and flash TWRP for the k7 with minimal risk?
LG K7 MS330 MetroPCS rooted recovery image in TWRP or CWM would be the answer
Are you asking us if we have the clean fresh ms330 rooted recovery image along with the images written route of system root for integral forensic troubleshooting for later non recovery solvable issues? The image im trying to figure out how to make on this freshly rooted k7 sitting in front of me with barely a sign on ... on to it. The one that every little question is crucial to someone else maybe rooting their devise if i do this right?
Was that the question?
What kills me is IVE NEVER EVEN SEEN A CWM RECOVERY and i gotta make an image for one ? ! > ! HELP
I am not joking ..... I havent been a PHONIE long. LOL I cant believe i get any of it this far along ...... I did brick and run over 3 Sams notes along the way!

Not as well as I liked.... K7 a little akward
I had as just a hard time if not equal to the ms770 stylo ... Im beginning to not like LG grrrr. It's almost like the bootloader is locking .... As this thread started it was all about the su binary not taking it then maybe rooted after restore. But in both devices I had to uninstall root. Just had root until reboot and a mess after that. Is there another issue with the bootloader on lg? I can say that I think there is a diference in su ap and installed binary so pay attention.
I did not do well in my imaging ability... I should have reached to ask assistance but need to start and finish these two. I went ahead and customed them with out root apps ... The buyers didnt carecause they never seen root apps anyway. Im getting another this week ... More time hopefully
I've seen quite a few people swear off LG. In my opinion their phones aren't bad but I guess as far as 3rd party developement, they make it difficult.

my personal opinion is playing is that using apps without recovery is stupid. i am also guilty of being stupid/impatient and f'n up my phone. but lets not encourage stupidity bro. educate the people. i installed xposed through adb before recovery was available too but, and for those of us that are just tired of typing the commands, copy, paste, rename directory and all its awesome. but to mass distribute it to the masses of newbs????? how many willl soft brick their phone cause thet wanted their wifi signal bars to look like a deathstar. (yes, mine do) i've had more than a few items in the repository cause mine to bootloop. and this is complicated and frustrating to fix as i'm sure you saw that recovery only has factory reset option. they don't give you superuser permissions out of the box for a reason. theyd loss their ass doing warranty repairs and file bankruptcy. and then no more android. sorry bro better shuck out that 600 bucks for that new iphone that seriously looks exactly like that other iphone when you turn it on. oh, and my sisters tablet after it got the latest update. i've been up too long and i'm babling all this to say i'm searching site for system.img because i dropped and broke my first k7. and when i got the new one and didn't unlock bootloader 2nd time. TWRP doesn't appear to be available for the 4060A Ideal yet, if anyone notices they made one in the future please post in this thread.
Did you try the very latest version of KingRoot from Nov 23, 2016: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=21707
Please post if you did and if it worked.
EDIT: Yes. KingRoot5 does work but DO NOT USE King-O-Root. King-O-Root will permanently BRICK this phone. But KingRoot5 works.
EDIT2: See this post
I rooted this phone yesterday with the latest KingRoot. I I installed my backup from an LG K7 which I had fully rooted by using an older version of Super su me. Unfortunately I lost that phone. I found this phone on closeout at Kmart and Im trying to get something going on it. It's strange that busybox will install with the new version of KingRoot still installed. Everytime I run super su me (I have tried several different versions) it either crashes or just doesn't do anything. I'm working on it now. Any of you funny guys been able to remove KingRoot and keep root.
Screenshot from this phone. I once rooted an elevate and it came back as a pixi.
The reason why your post is important is people don't want to run KingRoot and find out the hard way it doesn't work, so thanks for posting that.
Yes, removing KingRoot and keeping root would be the golden grail, I'll post here as soon as I come across anyone who's done that. I can't find anyone yet with TWRP or FlashFire-equivalent, let alone root with KingRoot removed...
I read on another thread for this device that they successfully did it with the PC version of KingRoot. I'm leary about putting it on my laptop. I'm hard on phone's and have been messing with them for about a year now so far I haven't bricked a device. I've unlocked a couple of bootloader's. Seems I have the best luck with metro/lg. But I like a challenge and couldn't pass up this phone for the price. First time I got an at&t phone to achieve any kind of root.
I rooted this phone using kingroot then used this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/a310/general/how-to-remove-replace-kingroot-kinguser-t3308989 to switch out kingroot for SuperSU. But you should read the comments in the thread as well for helpful hints, I used link2sd to fully remove kingroot after the script finished.
Bottom line is root and supersu can be achieved fairly easily.
I will give it a try. Ty

Did it work for you? I don't see Alcatel mentioned in that thread. I'm curious.
He says it worked for him using link2sd. The original method without link2sd used in the linked thread does not work on Alcatel Ideal 4060a, I tried it.
But his method of using link2sd may work - he says it does.
But how do you exactly do that method? What lines of code do you use, what exactly is the process with link2sd?
That's what we are after, how do you use link2sd with Alcatel Ideal 4060a. I hope he comes back and posts. Otherwise one of us will hopefully figure it out eventually on here...

In the post I linked theres a person who (on the first page) added a code to the script for link2sd.
However, im a bit to lazy to do the research into editing the script, so I think I just ran the script then used link2sd to remove kingroot, then reboot.
Though I had to do this while enduring a constant popup requiring me to press ok over and over.
To be honest though Im a bit fuzzy on the full process because I to had trouble getting the script to work. I might have run the script then rebooted then tried removing kingroot.
I will do this then post full instructions.
I actually know exactly what you are talking about.
But what exactly did you do inside link2sd, can you just post that?

Thanks. I couldn't even get that far. Don't get me wrong it's a nice device but I'm sure a custom ROM would make it fly. Hopefully soon as more people get the device we'll see some development.
First thing first. Bootloader commands must be there.
If so, you just need TWRP
I'd also be very interested in rooting/custom rom for this device, as I moved to it from my Nexus 7 2013 that was very much showing it's age. It's almost painful being on a stock rom from a 3rd party at this point. I've searched through google and nobody seems to be taking much interest in this device. The same was true for the original xperia z tablet and it's got official lineageos support, so I remain hopeful.

I am having problems even booting into bootloader on this thing. I was able to boot into recovery mode but can't get out of the "no commands".
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot bootloader -> just reboots it.
It might be possible to use dirtyc0w exploit to get root access on this tablet.(nvm it seems our android version is already patched for that. )
I too have been able to get the bootloader unlocked but unable to find a version of TWRP or find any rooting tool that supports this device. Still holding out hope but this doesn't seem to be a super popular device :/
Hey guys! I bricked my tab and i need a stock kdz or system, recovery and boot.imgs! Does anyone have or can pull these file for me thanks in advance!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have rooted mine..if I had the stock system.img could you used that? This is what I did to obtain root..
Download the Lg download utility mode tool '''https://github.com/Lekensteyn/lglaf''
and the sources ''https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/installation.html'
Then open cmd in the folder and execute: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell --cr -c '!S sh' <--- there might be an error message or laf_acess_denied but its okay.
re-enter the command: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell <--- this should open up an interactive shell..enter ls and see if it lists the files on the device then close the interactive shell
run python extract-partitions.py to get the stock boot.bin but change the file extension to .img
push the boot.img to the device, install magisk manager, patch the boot.img, pull img then flash with fastboot
Nice! We finally get root a couple days after a seemingly innocent fall off my bed wrecked my screen :crying:. Deciding on replacing it or getting a MediaPad M5.
tbh I've rooted this device since last month or so but I really didn't have time to make a tutorial

Thanks to Vincent_vann I have root. With this I can finally start building a custom TWRP for this tablet. I wish we had a forum for this device. I requested one last year but it still hasn't been made even though it was approved. If I get one built, and there isn't a dedicated forum, I'll post it in this thread.
Just built TWRP. I noticed some folks asking for stock recovery, boot, and system img files. I have recovery and boot img. Not sure where to post these though. Same with twrp. If someone has any reccomendations on how to go about this I'll gladly provide.
I have the Canadian variant (v533) and wouldn't mind giving TWRP a whirl on it. All specs are same so I think it'll work. Don't mind testing if you do get somewhere to post TWRP. Also good job on getting it compiled ?

Thank you! Unfortunately with nougat file based encryption TWRP has issues with decrypting /data after the setup of the tablet. So it's working 50% which is annoying because you'll have to wipe data whenever you want to flash something. Not a big deal for roms, but very inconvenient for other zips. If you still want it let me know and I'll find a place. Else I'll be tackling the decryption issue this weekend.

N9137 - ZTE Tempo X Bootloader Unlocking

The phone allows you to enable bootloader unlocking in the developer options. So, I was wondering what command is needed to enable it?
I have no clue, I've been searching high and low, trying to figure out a way to root this device and I've hit a wall at every turn. Any help would be appreciated

If someone finds the firmware i can root it untill someone can build twrp for it
uni-android unlock tool will unlock bootloader so you can root the n9137 and many other devices... it cost 50 bucks and its good for a year of unlimited unlocking. GOOD LUCK!
Any progress on this front? I have a ZTE Tempo X N9137 HW1.0 from Assurance Wireless (Free Gov't phone).
I Just want to root this phone, so I can run rooted apps. I am not interested in installing other ROMs (I am not sure, but my feeling is that I have to leave the original ROM alone in order for this phone to continue to work w Assurance Wireless under the gov't lifeline free cell program - someone correct me if I am wrong and it is confirmed that I can actually ROM better ROMs into this ZTE and continue to work normally with Assurance Wireless.)
Do I need to install TWRP or CWM in order to root the ZTE, or can I use ADB and Fastboot to unlock the bootloader and install Magisk or SuperSU to allow root?
I googled around, but I can't find TWRP or CWM for the ZTE N9137.
Any help or link to guides specifically for the ZTE Tempo X N9137 is greatly welcomed and needed,
Thanks
What is needed?

Any luck rooting this phone using KingRoot?
Has the Bootloader been unlocked yet?
If I ever get this phone rooted,. will I be able to replace the ROM?what will happen to the Assurance portion of it? WIll it still work as a free gov't phone, or does it need to have the Assurance software to work as the free government phone?
I need to root this phone so I can run rooted app to expand the very limited built in storage space. I cannot install any new app because there is no more storage space. The solution is to allow App2SD or other app that install apps into the SD card, but this requires root access.'

Hey guys - I good news to report. I successfully rooted my ZTE X N9137. Running Android 7.1.1 build version N9137V1.0.0B08 which is the most current. My phone came with a Sprint SIM and the phone service is Q-Link I have screenshots of the installed root apps I used and also all the bloatware removed gone from the Apps Drawer. I rooted using KingRoot but not via the apk. I am working on a guide and also going to recreate to verify the steps. I used the combo of scripts that I found from site that I linked below. The requires an account to download but it's free. A couple of things I discovered
Start with the phone in EDL Mode:
The phone needs to be in EDL mode (blank screen but is still powered on).
from adb run this command
adb reboot edl
Or run the edl.bat from the /root/ folder
Root / Unlock
Script used was : Unlock ZTE-N9137_1_DEVICE.bat
The script requires many reboots and it was after UNLOCKING PHONE STEP 3 is when Kingroot was installed.
This is when I debloated . During this step my wifi was inaccessible (firmware mismatch I suspect)
The script then performed another reboot and I lost root and recovery is non accessible

Here are screenshots of my ZTE N9137 without all the bloat! "Kingroot - Remove Bloatware" removed
40 pre-installed apps which most were installed as a service which requires to root to remove.
Everything runs some much smoother now.
Based on the overwhelming response with my previous posts, I am continuing ahead. I was again successful at getting root. Attached a couple of pics.

Does anyone have a link to this script? Also if successful, will this approach network-unlock my phone?
PS. I'm not allowed to post links with a new account so I had to edit them out of the above quote. However you can find them in the original post.
Hello again,
I've proceeded to try Deadman's strategy to install the stock rom he provided. I've implemented the fix to remove references to empty '.img' files in the rawprogram0.xml. The helper files and the rom have been unzipped to the same folder, such that Deadman's rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml have overwritten those provided in the firmware image folder, which I believe is the correct method.
When I reboot my phone into EDL mode using adb, the QFIL application recognizes the phone as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM6)" and I can begin the flash.
However, the flashing hangs or stops when it reaches the following stage:
Code:
2019-04-15 12:42:34.015 12:42:33: INFO: {percent files transferred 2.78%}
2019-04-15 12:42:34.016 12:42:33: INFO: In handleProgram('recovery.img')
2019-04-15 12:42:34.016 12:42:33: INFO: Looking for file 'recovery.img'
2019-04-15 12:42:34.017 12:42:33: INFO: =======================================================
So it appears that there is an issue with the recovery.img file. However this file is both present in the same folder and non-empty. What could be the issue here?
Cheers.

UMX U693CL Assurant Wireless

So I know there are root tutorials and utilities for the UMX U673c and the UMX U683CL, but does anyone have a tutorial or a way to root the UMX U693CL? I already have dev console activated, usb debugging on, and oddly weird...under the OEM Unlock option, its greyed out and it states the bootloader is already unlocked. Should I believe that or could it just be still locked and reporting that its unlocked if it's a proprietary bootloader? Any help appreciated.
Just a single bump to see if anyone has any root solutions yet

I'm pretty much in the same boat. And have you noticed whatever you look up on UMX os conveniently a 401 or some site doesn't exist message? I did find out that malware byte totally busted them on having government installed malware which they partially admitted to. Get malware premium and that helps with attitude this damn phone has.
I just got the u693cl phone. I have not even powered it up yet. Did you all find out which processor it has? I am assuming it is the msm8909 but I am not sure yet.

To root a phone's Android unlocking device's bootloader is NOT needed. You may use SuperSU ZIP to root phone's Android.
Unlocking bootloader is not. Needed?
That's a strategy I had not considered yet. I just read about using a tool called adbroot for temporary root access on the Nokia.
found this doc

hardware qualcomm qm215
If you figure out how to boot into fastboot please post here. Booting into fastboot via adb commands and boot locks up at boot logo. Booting with power + down volume and I get android lying on his back with a red triangle.
Booting to recovery mode works with instructions from this video

did anyone figure out how to successfully root this phone yet?
Thanks in advance.

Just got this phone in the mail today. Haven't powered it on yet but I will be playing around with it tonight. I think it ships with the bootloader unlocked and will see if I can find a root method for it. If not, I'll be checking back here with everyone else.

I tried and failed but I am a new fish at this. To access the recovery menu boot while holding volume up and power. Realease power as soon a phone vibrates. soon you ei lsee the robot lying on hi back. Hold the up volume and briefly tap the power button. Now you can select reboot to bootloader. It will just sit there on Ultimate Mobile Experience logo and adb does not work. I am guessing there are additional key strokes needed while rebooting to bootloader but I do not know.

Well, I got my phone all set up and ready to go. Our bootloader is already unlocked from the factory and I found a way to install TWRP for this phone. When I get home tomorrow I will install TWRP and if that's working I'll start looking for the root method. I highly doubt it right now but it would be great if someone created a flashable zip file to root it. I'll have to look around and see if anyone has been working on it. I have a feeling Magisk might work. It would be great if we can somehow get this phone rooted and a custom recovery installed, I'm sure there's at least a few people waiting for it.

Way cool!!! If the bootloader is unlocked then we should be able to image the boot partition and feed it to magisk. Don't you think?
I am very curious to know the steps you took to get this far. If you feel like sharing.

Sure, all I did was confirm that the bootloader was unlocked by enabling developer options, going to bootloader unlock and confirming it was greyed out where it also said the bootloader was already unlocked, then I did a search for TWRP recovery for our device model and found that, which anyone can build if they know how as it's open source, and also found a root method. I basically just spent a lot of time searching and reading. I'm most definitely going to copy everything and back everything up before I do anything just to be safe.

Also, there's a video out with Instructions how to install TWRP for this device model.

pretty darn low end phone but 2gb means maybe it can run treble gsi roms
specs seem to be on http://specdevice.com/showspec.php?id=31ea-85b0-7221-d1bc032ad321
you can always try to run TWRP from the "fastboot boot twrp.img" but the problem is which TWRP image

has anyone figured out how to get TWRP working? I had no luck with the link @iwearthebelt posted.
EDIT: I am unable to find the 'right' download button on that website. All of them just redirect to the same place. DMCA Takedown???
If anyone has found the link for the actual download let me know. Thanks

Hi guys,
I recently received this device as well. I would really like to see the device get rooted root access. The reason being is because they tried to tell me I cannot purchase an unlocked phone to use with assurance wireless which uses Virgin mobile. They said I am stuck using this device or buying one of their over priced low end phones. I would like to be able to use root to remove some pre-installed apps.
Did anyone figure out how to get twrp on this device? If we can get twrp on it then it will be easy to root. Just need to flash magisk through twrp and it should be rooted. If
