So I know there are root tutorials and utilities for the UMX U673c and the UMX U683CL, but does anyone have a tutorial or a way to root the UMX U693CL? I already have dev console activated, usb debugging on, and oddly weird...under the OEM Unlock option, its greyed out and it states the bootloader is already unlocked. Should I believe that or could it just be still locked and reporting that its unlocked if it's a proprietary bootloader? Any help appreciated.
Just a single bump to see if anyone has any root solutions yet
Assurance?? Wireless
I'm pretty much in the same boat. And have you noticed whatever you look up on UMX os conveniently a 401 or some site doesn't exist message? I did find out that malware byte totally busted them on having government installed malware which they partially admitted to. Get malware premium and that helps with attitude this damn phone has.
I just got the u693cl phone. I have not even powered it up yet. Did you all find out which processor it has? I am assuming it is the msm8909 but I am not sure yet.

To root a phone's Android unlocking device's bootloader is NOT needed. You may use SuperSU ZIP to root phone's Android.
Unlocking bootloader is not. Needed?
That's a strategy I had not considered yet. I just read about using a tool called adbroot for temporary root access on the Nokia.

If you figure out how to boot into fastboot please post here. Booting into fastboot via adb commands and boot locks up at boot logo. Booting with power + down volume and I get android lying on his back with a red triangle.
Booting to recovery mode works with instructions from this video

did anyone figure out how to successfully root this phone yet?
Thanks in advance.

How do we root it with supersu zip?
Just got this phone in the mail today. Haven't powered it on yet but I will be playing around with it tonight. I think it ships with the bootloader unlocked and will see if I can find a root method for it. If not, I'll be checking back here with everyone else.

I tried and failed but I am a new fish at this. To access the recovery menu boot while holding volume up and power. Realease power as soon a phone vibrates. soon you ei lsee the robot lying on hi back. Hold the up volume and briefly tap the power button. Now you can select reboot to bootloader. It will just sit there on Ultimate Mobile Experience logo and adb does not work. I am guessing there are additional key strokes needed while rebooting to bootloader but I do not know.

Well, I got my phone all set up and ready to go. Our bootloader is already unlocked from the factory and I found a way to install TWRP for this phone. When I get home tomorrow I will install TWRP and if that's working I'll start looking for the root method. I highly doubt it right now but it would be great if someone created a flashable zip file to root it. I'll have to look around and see if anyone has been working on it. I have a feeling Magisk might work. It would be great if we can somehow get this phone rooted and a custom recovery installed, I'm sure there's at least a few people waiting for it.

Way cool!!! If the bootloader is unlocked then we should be able to image the boot partition and feed it to magisk. Don't you think?
I am very curious to know the steps you took to get this far. If you feel like sharing.

Sure, all I did was confirm that the bootloader was unlocked by enabling developer options, going to bootloader unlock and confirming it was greyed out where it also said the bootloader was already unlocked, then I did a search for TWRP recovery for our device model and found that, which anyone can build if they know how as it's open source, and also found a root method. I basically just spent a lot of time searching and reading. I'm most definitely going to copy everything and back everything up before I do anything just to be safe.

Hi guys,
I recently received this device as well. I would really like to see the device get rooted root access. The reason being is because they tried to tell me I cannot purchase an unlocked phone to use with assurance wireless which uses Virgin mobile. They said I am stuck using this device or buying one of their over priced low end phones. I would like to be able to use root to remove some pre-installed apps.
Did anyone figure out how to get twrp on this device? If we can get twrp on it then it will be easy to root. Just need to flash magisk through twrp and it should be rooted. If

EDIT:
PureXTC has created a guide to root our ZTE Grand X View!
I'll try and make this as easy as possible. This is my method to achieve root and is probably the recommended way for this tablet.
Download the following files for preparation:
a) my TWRP -> https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap9_Z3bA7_tfoDlE_abd5_iZFWh6
b) a flashable copy of SuperSU -> https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap9_Z3bA7_tfoEJF_VJhWz8Mreoj
c) latest version of MagiskManager (check his thread for current or use this one for now v5.5.5) -> https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap9_Z3bA7_tfoEEpe7mbptS6o6NR
d) adb/fastboot drivers -> https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ap9_Z3bA7_tfoC_8yDTPtNYhcxqf
How to root:
*** This assumes you have some basic knowledge of adb, driver installation, command line ***
-----
Copy SuperSU and MagiskManager to your internal SD (or external if you have one)
-----
install ADB/Fastboot drivers from connecting K85 to PC (open the drive it attaches to and run the .exe)
-----
reboot K85 into bootloader (hold vol down + power)
press vol up or down to stop the countdown to auto-reboot (if applicable)
-----
copy all files from my ADB-FASTBOOT folder to the root of your drive (ie. C:\)
-----
open a COMMAND PROMPT and make sure you are in the ADB-FASTBOOT directory (C:\ADB)
-----
type this command: FASTBOOT -i 0x19d2 devices <ENTER>
you should have a result showing ZTEK85 is detected (ZTEK85 fastboot)
-----
copy my TWRP to C:\ADB
-----
now type: FASTBOOT -i 0x19d2 boot ZTE_K85_TWRP_3.1.1-1.img <ENTER>
wait for about 10-20 seconds for the device to reboot
-----
you should now have my TWRP displayed in all its glory!
-----
choose INSTALL, navigate to where you have SuperSU, select it, and swipe to install.
-----
reboot your K85
-----
run SuperSU and let it do its thing. If you're happy with SuperSU you are done. If not, continue on
-----
open your file explorer of choice and install the MagiskManager apk. Open it when it is done and choose to install. You want the last option (sorry, can't remember exactly what it is).
-----
once completed let your K85 reboot
-----
run SuperSU and go into settings. Look for the option to remove SuperSU to replace with another SU binary (or something to that effect). It may reboot your K85.
-----
now run the MagiskManager app and ensure you are rooted
-----
Get up, do a little twirl, and pat yourself on the back. You're rooted!
*** This is all done from memory. It is my hope I didn't forget anything! ***

I've tried numerous apps, PC root utility's, and universal rooting guides to root my ZTE K85 and I've pretty much gotten no where, please help. If you need any more info, just reply to this post and I'll answer it (probably).
I also can't get the device to be detected using fastboot but it shows in device manager. ADB works when not in fastboot mode (powered on, at home screen). Any help is appreciated.
I can access adb sideload but I didn't use it yet.
Could I extract the entire system and install root and flash it?

I am exactly in the same situation with the same device. If you have a thing trick or a solution I would be interested. If you need more precision on the device I shall give you.

Are we the only 3 Canadians trying to root this thing? Any help would be appreciated....
I'm looking to see if there are any other 615 SoC based phones/tablets that may have compatible custom recoveries to temporarily boot into and install supersu. It's so damn new and chinese... hard to find. Maybe any chinese-speaking Canadian customers may be able to help us decoding some foreign forums out there?

Can we get a device forum for this soon-to-be badass tablet once we get a decent ROM for it?? 2GB and a octacore.. this thing will SCREAM with CM or AOSP... PLEASE
I got this exact table too from Virgin on some special deal and the stock ROM is absolute garbage. I desperately need to root this thing due to how crappy it performs.

Unfortunately no! I'm still stuck on stock. Which has also presented another problem - a failed BT keyboard pairing that always reports invalid PIN without giving me a chance to enter one, even after a factory reset. Great!
But that is for another forum. If we K85 users ever get a forum.

Just flash the .zip?
Should be pretty easy in theory,
Download the zip, boot into recovery (power button + volume up) flash zip, done. (haven't tested it yet, I hope to)
Also, I don't know if you people know, but this is a pretty much Canada exclusive device, which is why there is so little interest in it.

Nevermind, just tried it, doesn't work. I'm gonna try and compile TWRP for it and see if I can flash that.

I don't have enough experience to go about porting say CyanogenMod or OmniRom to the ZTE Grand X View, and not enough time. Good luck with your efforts but I seriously doubt you'll be able to root this device any time soon.

I can't find any rooting tutorial from XDA developers for the Blade S6 edge, plus the bootloader on the Blade S6 is locked, I don't think the ZTE Grand X View would even accept a root from a Blade S6.

Yeah, there isn't one. You'd have to compile TWRP guide , which I believe uses OmniRom, and you can find a guide on porting OmniRom to another device here: https://docs.omnirom.org/Porting_Omni_To_Your_Device
root for zte grand x view.
Hi, I just bought the device and used Kingroot apk. It works. Used Root Checker to verify. Now to find out about custom rom for it!
Anyone got Lineage working on this thing? It'd be nice to have Nougat.
Rooted!
I was able to root it using KingRoot (Android Version)
!!!!!!!
i know this is a newer phone but i'm still pretty surprised i haven't been able to find anyone that's rooted it yet. i've been all over the internet it seems. this is the :
Samsung Galaxy J3(6)
SM-J320VPP
Android 6.0.1 Marshamllow
Verizon pre-paid plan/network
i see lots of videos and guides for other j320f or j320p (close but no cigar) and nothing works. what i've tried so far:
- Dev mode enabled, USB debugging and OEM unlocked.
- any/all 1 click root apps. none worked, and i'd like to avoid these anyway unless you know it works 100% for my version. at this point i'll try anything.
- recovery / flash superSU. only i haven't even gotten past flashing a recovery. i've tried several different versions of Odin with several different versions of recovery .tar's and for each combination i've tried Odin simply fails. big red FAIL button in upper left corner. sadness. this seems like what i need help with. i have SuperSU downloaded so if i can just get a custom recovery working for my phone i'm hoping it's a simple process from there of booting into the custom recovery and then installing the SuperSU. presto.
is there no hope? is there no tested, confirmed working recovery that i can flash to my phone using Odin? i've tried Odins 3.07, 3.09, and 3.11.1. various custom recovery .tars but the only one i know for sure is the J2 version official from TWRP's website (yes i know it says J2 but someone on another thread said it's similar enough to someone ELSE's model "j320f" or something so i gave it a shot) the other recovery .tars i tried are suspect since they had generic names "recovery.tar" and were downloaded from links provided in many different "guides" that i've googled.
internet, you have failed me. thus do i issue this challenge to all those mighty phone hackers of the land. come forth and slay the evil giant that is my phone's ludicrous security (seriosuly how is this even a thing still in 2016. my phone can do so much more, so much better but for these shenanigans).
thanks so much in advance!
EDIT: not sure about the bootloader. i may be a complete idiot. yes. ok. i'm onto something. gonna post this anyway for any other poor soul that has this version phone, but i think Odin's probably failing because the bootloader is still locked. and Samsung doesn't make this easy like motorola or HTC. T_T. once more into the fray! i'll see if i can't track down a method for unlocking the bootloader on my phone. should i return victorious i'll go ahead and share my steps with the rest of the class.
EDIT2: there is no waking from this nightmare. i dig and dig and dig and can find no root. *sigh*
-- i've got android studio installed. and the java SDK platform-tools which contains the adb.exe, fastboot.exe, etc.
-- something i should explain here: in all these guides whenever there's a step that requires the phone to be connected to the PC, it simply says to, you know...connect your phone. but MY phone by default only uses the cable for battery charging. i have to (on my phone) swipe down from the top, select the "connected for charging" message bringing up "Use USB For" options, then select "Transferring media files" option. THEN my phone shows up both in my windows explorer and displays as a device when i run "adb devices".
--when i run "adb reboot bootloader" this does the same thing as holding down pwr/home/vol down - phone boots up into a blue (teal?) background with a large down arrow in center, below that it says "downloading...do not turn off target". in the upper left are several lines of system font style text:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-J320VPP
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
FRP LOCK: OFF*
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, H1, R1, A1, P1*
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
*the R's above may be A's or vice versa...hard to read font. sorry
--but as soon as i've rebooted into this mode, my phone disappears from adb devices' list of devices attached. regardless when i run the "fastboot oem unlock" command from the adb shell on my PC at this point i get the infamous "waiting for any device" message and then, of course, nothing....forever. i've also installed PDAnet but i think it's hitting the same road block where my phone is only using the cable for battery charging and i can't toggle that option from ODIN MODE. there's also a "USB Configuration" choice under development options on the phone that has the same options as "Use USB for" but this doesn't stick when booting into ODIN MODE. sadness. i need to retire my brain thoughts at this point. will post TL;DR. you're a saint of geeks if you've made it through my WoT to here.
EDIT3: just an observation - the only thing (so far) that will detect my phone in ODIN MODE is ODIN itself. is there a way to use ODIN to unlock the bootloader?
TL;DR: i think odin is failing when attempting to flash because of locked bootloader. need help with unlocking bootloader first? phone defaults to use USB cable for charging only so i CAN change that to MTP while phone is on normal and then run "adb reboot bootloader" but then phone vanishes from adb devices list once it reboots (and cable is then only charging). thus, cannot run "adb fastboot oem unlock" cuz it hangs displaying "waiting for any device" -- can i unlock the bootloader on this phone? or did i buy a phone that's IMPOSSIBLE TO ROOT!?!?
I have the same problem! I need to root it to install the Patch to change from CDMA to GSM! Because I tried without root and it tells me "E: Signature verification failed"
Thanks
Still nothing?
This is starting to look hopeless
we need the stock recovery.img to be able to mod it and flash it through odin. the recovery for the verizon version does not match so odin wont allow it. i asked on sammobile and they said verizon only releases ota on the device. so idk what to do. perhaps someone with knowledge on this will help.
so far what ive figured out our situation is:
we need root to get root.
more specifically we need root to pull the recovery and then mod that recovery with twrp and use twrp to gain root. The root methods that worked for the other variant SM-J320P dont appear to work for ours, probably due to having android 6.0.1
till we get root we are stuck. the rest is easyish

im gonna try and do a reflash with kies and grab that file myself, ill work a bit on it because i love this phone but no basic root is driving me insane. if you can beat me to posting tell me how you got the file, otherwise ill post here once i find out. I'm not a top of the line developer but i can work my way around and try my best since nobody else is offering to help.
wish me luck.
sorry for the double post but got the files via the verizon software assistant no problem. it ended up in C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Verizon_AR\SM-J320VPP_J320VPPVRU1APC3_FACTORY for me, and even decrypted and unzipped itself for me, now we just need to mod a custom thingy into those files and we can work towards rooting. so as i sit here and watch my phone finish flashing back to factory i will look into how we can mod the recovery. if someone is capable of doing it faster i can upload the files very quickly as its only 1.4 gb
well turns out verizon locks the flashing with signature verfication. so unless verizon changes or root is found for marshmellow there will be zero possible root for this phone.

Hi to all, im new here and i am having the exact same problem! You say that there has to be a root specifically for the 6.0.. So i found that in the Chainfire page they have this https://download.chainfire.eu/986/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-j3lteusc-j3lteusc-smj320r4.zip already (i dont know if i can post links, so if i cant, sorry), it is marshmallow but the model is J320R4, so i was wondering if this could be the solution. i'll be waiting here for a response, i seriously love this phone :c

No, this is not the solution. When using a utlity like CF Auto Root, it must be specific to your model / carrier. Trying to install that will do 1 of 2 things.
1) Just fail in Odin
or
2) Soft brick your device
Since VZW doesn't bother to put out the full firmware files to reflash the device, it's not worth attempting without having the backup plan of the original firmware to flash via Odin.
an twrp is already available for j320p u can try to root your device using it

Understood, thank very much you for clearing that out. Since all this is pretty much a kick in the butt, do you think there will be some kind of solution to this or should we just lose hope? :/
can Someone here help me with this.

That's a Verizon device with a locked bootloader, you cannot try twrp or modified files meant for 320f or other models on this one.

So has anyone found any luck with this device? It's driving me crazy not having root
so i guess the next step would be to root and install custom recovery. so i have 2 very important questions, the first being is there an easy one click root option and if so what is it? ive downloaded king root but dont want to use it if its not going to work. The second question is can someone point me in the direction of a custom recovery for this phone? please and thank you!! note- this is my primary phone so im trying to be extra careful but i have looked everywhere and am running out of patients with this whole processs and am on the verge of trial and error
update: rooted with kingroot on first try....so far so good. now if someone could if possible point me in that same direction i asked to be pointed in in the post above?

Which model is your phone?
Surnia or otus?
For surnia twrp recovery:https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...quid-twrp-recovery-moto-e-lte-t3137649/page38
I don't think you looked hard enough.
The typical topics you need are right there..
There is no 1 click solution either.. you have to learn this stuff.
It's better that way though.
Until you know how to fix things don;t meddle with anything.
I would advice looking at unlocking your bootloader first.
Then install TWRP (so you can make a backup ASAP)
Then look at custom stuff like Logo's / animations + Root etc.
Random INFO:
Hold down power + volume down to get into Bootloader mode.
Marshmallow needs a patched Bootloader that SuperSu "systemless" can do for you.
Marshmallow needs MTPEabler on XDA i think LOL
Learn Fastboot and driver installs and how to flash the stock firmware by cmd line.
I would bet everyone one of us has bricked their phone so get ready for it.
Your phone needs to be in Android mode to connect normaly with MTP on windows etc.
That will let you have ADB access and move stuff on and off the SDCard or internal storage.
That is an easy driver to install.. sometimes the 2nd driver needs to be installed manually via windows etc.
That Fastboot driver is needed for Fastboot.. which you will have to start the phone in Bootloader mode to use stuff like fastboot flashing firmware commands.
2 major modes and 2 drivers for different purposes.
Take notes ..i did
I know this isn't the correct forum but I've searched and haven't found anything and since this seems to be the closet device I was wondering if there is any development for this device yet or any rooting methods that may work
I looked as well. There does not seem to be any serious develop on the V530. I'm bootloader unlocked but no root or twrp that I could find.

Thanks. I couldn't even get that far. Don't get me wrong it's a nice device but I'm sure a custom ROM would make it fly. Hopefully soon as more people get the device we'll see some development.
First thing first. Bootloader commands must be there.
If so, you just need TWRP
I'd also be very interested in rooting/custom rom for this device, as I moved to it from my Nexus 7 2013 that was very much showing it's age. It's almost painful being on a stock rom from a 3rd party at this point. I've searched through google and nobody seems to be taking much interest in this device. The same was true for the original xperia z tablet and it's got official lineageos support, so I remain hopeful.

I am having problems even booting into bootloader on this thing. I was able to boot into recovery mode but can't get out of the "no commands".
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot bootloader -> just reboots it.
It might be possible to use dirtyc0w exploit to get root access on this tablet.(nvm it seems our android version is already patched for that. )
I too have been able to get the bootloader unlocked but unable to find a version of TWRP or find any rooting tool that supports this device. Still holding out hope but this doesn't seem to be a super popular device :/
Hey guys! I bricked my tab and i need a stock kdz or system, recovery and boot.imgs! Does anyone have or can pull these file for me thanks in advance!

I have rooted mine..if I had the stock system.img could you used that? This is what I did to obtain root..
Download the Lg download utility mode tool '''https://github.com/Lekensteyn/lglaf''
and the sources ''https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/installation.html'
Then open cmd in the folder and execute: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell --cr -c '!S sh' <--- there might be an error message or laf_acess_denied but its okay.
re-enter the command: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell <--- this should open up an interactive shell..enter ls and see if it lists the files on the device then close the interactive shell
run python extract-partitions.py to get the stock boot.bin but change the file extension to .img
push the boot.img to the device, install magisk manager, patch the boot.img, pull img then flash with fastboot
Nice! We finally get root a couple days after a seemingly innocent fall off my bed wrecked my screen :crying:. Deciding on replacing it or getting a MediaPad M5.
tbh I've rooted this device since last month or so but I really didn't have time to make a tutorial
Is anyone able to pull there kdz? My tab is bricked and ive tried LG bridge and all others! Or the the imgs in need to go back to stock! Any help please! Thanks!

Thanks to Vincent_vann I have root. With this I can finally start building a custom TWRP for this tablet. I wish we had a forum for this device. I requested one last year but it still hasn't been made even though it was approved. If I get one built, and there isn't a dedicated forum, I'll post it in this thread.
Just built TWRP. I noticed some folks asking for stock recovery, boot, and system img files. I have recovery and boot img. Not sure where to post these though. Same with twrp. If someone has any reccomendations on how to go about this I'll gladly provide.
I have the Canadian variant (v533) and wouldn't mind giving TWRP a whirl on it. All specs are same so I think it'll work. Don't mind testing if you do get somewhere to post TWRP. Also good job on getting it compiled ?

Thank you! Unfortunately with nougat file based encryption TWRP has issues with decrypting /data after the setup of the tablet. So it's working 50% which is annoying because you'll have to wipe data whenever you want to flash something. Not a big deal for roms, but very inconvenient for other zips. If you still want it let me know and I'll find a place. Else I'll be tackling the decryption issue this weekend.

Have any good resources you can recommend?
After many searches for the best help on my new Asus ZenFone V V520KL, I have no way to unlock the bootloader. Asus doesn't provide any support for this 2017 model, nor does Verizon, the company the phone was made for.
It comes stock with Nougat 7.0 OS, 32 GB ROM & 4 GB RAM. It's got a decent size screen and runs not too too bad.
I'm wondering if one of the tech people here would be so kind as to help me with not only unlocking the bootloader so I can then install a custom recovery image, preferrably TWRP, since I have used this type of program before on my other ZenFone 3 Zoom.
I already have ADB tools on my Windows 7 notebook (32-bit). I used it to install the last root on my other aforementioned phone so it will work.
What I'm wondering about is the bootloader unlock tool, custom recovery image (TWRP), and a way to root the bastard. Hopefully we can relock the bootloader after the job's done because it's annoying on my other phone to always have to bypass the "Can't check for corruption." screen before the phone actually boots. Again this is for the Asus ZenFone V V520KL model. There is really no information anywhere right now I know of that gets this job done.
Having a custom Pie 9.0 ROM upgrade would be the best if possible once we root the device.
My name is Andrew, S.D. from Canada.
Thanks and blessings.

Did you find a way to root it?
No, I still need help with the original post. I can root the ZenFone 3 Zoom ZE553KL but they already tell us how to do that in another forum.
the Bootloader for v520kl is already unlock by ENG Firmware
Just serch it in forums

Hi friend,
It's de the same rom for this page
https:
www
hardreset.info/devices/asus/asus-v520kl/faq/firmware/ because, the size of this rom is 813MB
and the size of the rom of the link that you provide is 775.53 MB and the files is the same name.
or this rom has been updated.
someone know what version of android have this rom
Okay so we now have a link to just the ROM it looks like. Do we have a way to unlock the bootloader yet and install TWRP first? What about the TWRP image file, do we have one of those as well?

To flash the ENG rom, you do not need to unlock the bootloader. Just the Asus flash tool.
Once you flash it, you can reboot to fastboot mode(adb reboot bootloader) and use fastboot oem unlock to unlock bootloader. Be warned though the ENG firmware is very basic. No web browser, no google play, you can't pull down the notification bar etc. (Great battery life though with about 7-10 days since I am not using it at all).
As of right now, there is no TWRP for it that i know of. In fact, I can't even boot into recovery atm. I also am unable to get boot.img file form the .raw file so the various methods to root it seem to be out of reach for the moment.
I've absolutely no interest in the ENG firmware. Still looking for a solution to the original post that people can understand and use easily.

Good time of day, Faericia, this is just great news. You can share the experience of getting root with magisk?
Regarding Google Play and all that, where you need Google, using a bunch of microG and Aurora store.
MicroG is the core of Google services, which allows you to pass authorization through Google, synchronize and do it all without any garbage code, according to my observations, the expense is not much spent.
Aurora shop, as an analogue of Google Play, the application, the ability to save apk.
Due to the lack of binding to your Google account.
I think this connection may be relevant and rooted.
The initial partition should appear as root, it intends to resolve all the problems that I have in my phone. for asus applications, after I have done my best, several attempts have already been made.
It was possible to look in read mode using root explorer.
Perhaps you can somehow remove the protection of verizon on the bootloader.
PS the most hardcore variation of raw firmware, a hex editor, search in that between code, boot, recovery, system, etc. Very large empty spaces. previously there were 100 miles earlier.
I think this is part of verizon jokes.
This article should be cut and placed in img.
Thanks so much in advance.
hello when you finish you could share through a tutorial what you did I have my asus v with verizon rom and only data but if I can make it functional with the rom eng then better
Okay, Here are the steps. Before anything else though, I should warn you that I have not been able to get safetynet to pass. So if you have apps that require safetynet to pass, this may not be the way to go.
First you will need the ENG firmware:
https://mega.nz/#!l7wBlQ4B!uB63yH5Rir24GaSfDMWKowqdz-N_sc6SJ-q1WuuGiqM/
Also Asus Flash tools v 1.0.0.72:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11rcjOgdpJhpK97GzbhYK6cYEIWOtzKE9/view
I am assuming you know adb and such. If not, search the forums and get the adb tools.
Using adb, Reboot to bootloader. ( adb reboot bootloader )
Load the .raw file in the asus flash tool, select v520KL and flash.
Once flash is done, unlock bootloader by going into bootloader (adb reboot bootloader) then type (fastboot oem unlock.)
Here is the patched_boot.img I used if you want to just try to flash that and see if it will work. This is for the eng firmware.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fUxGc27lrodR3ro9MIspde73G8Xg9VlW/view?usp=sharing
Go into bootloader and flash. (fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img)
Install magisk manager and test it out.
If you wish to patch the img yourself, the steps are below (still working on it):
So now we have the phone unlocked, and the software is very basic. We also need the boot.img file to patch since we do not have TWRP. Since I couldn't get it from the raw file (the extracted file is invalid with a size of 0 bytes) I decided to extract it from the phone. But to extract from the phone we need root. So for this next step, temporary root will have to do.
You can get temp root by using KingoRoot. Use the PC version and you will get root. This is just so we can extract the files from the phone itself.
I need to find the steps for the next steps again, but the basics is, extract boot.img from the phone. Patch it using magisk manager and then flash the patched_boot.img in bootloader mode. I had google play working(chinese version) but once i removed kingoroot it kept crashing. I currently have magisk and it gives me the root permissions but safetynet fails. I will retry this tomorrow and see if I can fix the safetynet issue and update this post with the steps.
Also I seem to have borken recovery mode on my phone. That may be because I tried flashing bunch of other stuff before I managed to root it so I do not know if it will be the same situation to you or not. I believe after I flashed ENG firmware, i had access to recovery mode at one point, but I may have just messed it up. Either way, Expect updates in the near future.
asus recovery
A huge over many thanks.
I also tried to get a temporary root, via the kingoroot pc version, it did not work, I suspect it because I installed eng, but did not oem unloock, when I did unlock, I somehow managed to get the boot out of the firmware, the user from 4pda was patched, but said that this boot is from 8 android, I thought that I had schizophrenia because later on trying to get boot I also got 0mb, this was due to the unexpected end of the archive.
In general, by flashing this boot, I also found a recovery mode and even a recovery mode, but going into recovery a message from Verizon was displayed, standard, when you roll the eng firmware for 5 seconds, hold something, etc. Well, you understand. And the whole laugh is that it was in a circle.
I suspect that asus had any plans for this device or for this amount of components. In other words, it was some kind of blank that was abandoned, maybe asus thought that this exclusive for verizon will make a trap, and then they say on the basis of v520kl we will make a non-exclusive open device, but alas, a huge member between two rolls.
Therefore, fortunately or unfortunately, recovery was not broken by you, most likely it was not working initially, but this is only a guess.

I know recovery mode was working with VZW firmware. I know this because I tried installing using adb sideload several times. I might be mistaken on getting there once i flashed eng firmware but again, it has been a month or two since I tried it and all I know is, it won't go into the recovery screen now. Oh well, not my main phone so irrelevant.

The only time I had Google apps was when I had kingoroot root still int he system. I then downloaded the Chinese google apps installer and used that to get it. Once i removed kingoroot google framwork kept crashing making it unusable.. If you don't need to pass safetynet, that might be the way. Othewise, I am still trying to work on it.

I found out how to stop frameworks from crashing. Just make it a system app. I use link2sd for this.
Now all gapps work nice.
