Hello, yes im of of the many that has a parrot asteroid smart and a tomtom that does work but cannot update it. Ive done a lot of reading and many talks points me to this forum. It usually goes about root devices etc.
But i never saw a topic anywhere where people said it worked, and no problems.... But im not that positive about that way...
Im not a technical guy but i dont know how the TomTom actually works inside de Parrot. From what i understand its protected?
Is there a way to update the cards part of tomtom??

Forgive me if this subject has been covered, I've not been able to find much on this and I'm fairly new to all this having just aquired a Hermes recently.
One of the things I did hope to do with this (amongst many other things of course) is to use this device as a remote control. I have a number of devices that would become unusable if their remotes were to die and so creating a dbase of all those obscure remotes has been worthwhile using my ipaq to date.
Currently I've tested a couple of pieces of software which work but it appears that the infra red signal is pretty weak, particularly when comparing it to my iPaq 2210 running Nevo. It's far too weak to really be of that much use.
Anyway before I give up on this path I thought I'd try to find out if anyone else has found this to be as weak as I have and more to the point, would a radio or ROM upgrade help or is this down to the hardware that HTC used for the irDA?
It is in general that most PDA's have a 'weak' IrDA submitter. HP is really an exception. I also missed this powerful Irda when I switched one day ... !
A ROM upgrade won't change this.
You might be better off by buying a UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL for your devices. Even your HERMES might be happy and last a bit longer.

Ok thanks for the information. I was kind of expecting this to be the case. I might have to hang on to the HP, it works a treat. It's a shame though.
I'll concentrate on finding out about the rest of the stuff I need to resolve like the gps problems as Tomtom is one of the priorities.

Those devices are the devils work I tell you!.
Ok i finally called garmin about my nuvi A50 the Asus-Garmin phone and the tech was great.
A garmin guy who stated too me that there are only 2 people he knows of that trully got root on these phones.
He couldnt tell me anything more but told me if i was familiar with adb too keep it basic and it can be done.
he couldnt elaborate any further. I tried so hard to see if those 2 that did it were on the web some where.
All he said was xda and keep searching its in general not a nuvi forum. Grrr so anyone have any other ideas?
Do you know who has done this and what needs too be done in adb or what simple change hes refering too is. That universal thing dont work and that spazz guy in the tmobile forums dont have root either.

Hi, welcome to XDA! I don't really have a definitive answer for you, but I just wanted to say that I think I've seen this question asked before but I don't remember ever seeing a positive answer. I would guess that it would probably be possible, but only with one or both a go-between Android app and desktop program for transferring the phone's GPS data to the computer in a familiar format.
Today I installed a custom rom for my chinese phone Mlais mx65 everything works fine but, I can't connect to my network with my sim card, and it's weird i tried installing stock rom and other roms same problem but I didn't have any problems before that, any suggestions?
Check to see if your IMEI has changed. I know some MTK devices have IMEI issues after flashing certain types of roms. If your IMEI is ok, check the baseband / radio.
If you messed up the IMEI: http://en.miui.com/thread-10061-1-1.html
yeh it says Imei is invalid but this tutorial is very hard to understand.
That's certainly not the only tutorial. As I said, it's not an uncommon issue. I don't get much chance to play with these kinds of devices at my shop, so don't have personal experience. But you'll just to find a guide that might be a bit easier to understand. Is your native language English? Is it because it's a bit more technical than you are comfortable with?
No it's not my native language is slovenian.
plus im having a hard time finding the easy tutorial, I'm not an expert in android phones so it's preety hard.
K, I thought that might be the case. Well, if you don't know of any Slovenian phone forums where someone who is technically inclined and fluent in English as well might be able to help walk you through, you might just look through YouTube so you can see someone going through the steps as well. I understand how hard it is to do technical things when it isn't your strongest skill AND in your 2nd (or 3rd or whatever) language.
Maybe something like this might help at least point you in the right direction:

I realize it doesn't say specifically for YOUR phone, but if it has the same chipset then the instructions are usually very similar for MediaTek devices I believe.
Thanks for you help I checked some forums and got the easyest answer

No problem! Glad you got it sorted out. Did you find the answer in English or your language? If English, you should post here in case someone else searching for answers in the same situation might find help easier.
Morning guys,
I would like to know if some of you experts can help me.
Resuming, I have an Archos 50c Platinum (I know it's an old mobile phone lol), and it has Android version 5.1.
Despite that I went to Archos website looking for an upgrade for it and I ended up "hiting a wall" with no results.
I know a lot about desktops and laptops but to be honest with you guys mobile phones is something that is competly out of my comfort zone.
So, the question is simple, how do I upgrade my mobile from 5.1 version to a higher version?
What do I need to do? Root? if root is necessary what free software is the best to do it? what files should I get to install on my mobile?
What are the steps?
I know, too many questions, but I'm actually completely lost regarding this.
I read several articles, and websites, and watched videos etc etc and the truth is there's so many diferent ways to do the same thing that I prefer to ask "who actually knows" how things should be done properly than "fishing around". That's why I'm here though.
Any help would be great.
Thanks guys
