I have officialy unlocked my bootloader and now I have alkatwrp installed. Now I would like to install smiui and other roms (maybe cm13), but I'm afraid of hard bricking my device!
Wich is the best twrp to flash all kind of roms? What should I delete before flashing roms? Do I have to patch something after having flashed?
Thanks for the support!

That depends on Roms that you are using. Most of them require clean installation unless u are upgrading the rom. By clean install u mean by wiping data system caches etc except internal storage. And on transforming from miui to lineage os based rom u should flash a firmware. You must read the guide properly before flashing

I am running 'Resurrection remix' rom on my Mot E xt-1022. I want to install a kitkat 'custom rom'. Do I need to go through the downgrading process posted here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/safely-restore-to-stock-t3165344
or
I just need to flash the kitkat custom rom as we do normally?
The tutorial is for downgrading to stock Kitkat once you has updated to stock Lollipop. With custom ROM that only flash the boot and system partitions there is no need to follow that guide.
PS: I can hardly write in english.

to my knowledge yes you can flash your custom rom normally that is if it dosen't have any bugs .
but the link you posted is to downgrade to stock rom. if you want stock rom then yes you have to go though that process.
if you just need rom to flash and not bootloader download rom from http://motorola-condor.blogspot.in/p/xt-1022motorola-stock-firmware-romxt.html and flash it normally do this at your own risk i am not responsible for consequences

Thank you and @GSebas for the replies. Will try it to soon. The phone becomes so slow on lollipop and marshmallow. Kitkat is probably the best rom for low-end phones. But the inbuilt 4G ROM makes to look at custom ROMs.
Using Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon with Lineage 14.1 (Official SEP 27 build). Everything's working great.
But I was wondering about how to get back to MIUI (Stock) again. I have unlocked my bootloader officially, Took a full backup of MIUI before flashing anything, and when I say Full I mean everything including EFS, Boot, Recovery, Firmware and every other backup option available in TWRP 3.1.x.x. I ticked them all and it made a backup of 16GB total. After then I proceeded to do my normal Lineage Zip and Gaaps flashing and running Lineage OS successfully. Now if I want to revert back to MIUI :
Can I simply wipe everything in TWRP and just restore the full backup I made using TWRP?
Or can I just restore System, Boot and Data and I will boot into MIUI the way I had left it before, without any bootloop or a bricked device?
Or do I wipe everything and simply flash a zip file for my device from their official website either it be a Global Stable or a Dev ROM using TWRP (and then restore the backup I had made from within MIUI) ?
Or do I follow those fastboot methods of first flashing the stock recovery then proceed with flashing the official ROM from their website?
Please let me know what would be the safest and also the complications with each method if possible.
Necroposting because this is the first result when Googling "twrp restore miui" and a response would be nice.
Still no response ?

No need for efs , recovery, firmware backup
U need only system, data and boot to restore.
If ur backup is older then flash 10.2 recovery rom .

Thanks a lot. Just to make sure, flashing the Global stable or developer from miui's website will re lock the bootloader? Twrp will be gone? Will I not get stuck on boot without flashing lazy flasher with the rom? Lastly, will I be able to update OTA?
Again, thanks a tons.

Official OTA support is ended for kenzo. Dont expect nougat from xiaomi.
Stay on custom rom if u want pie.
U can flash xiaomi EU rom using twrp if u want custom miui rom. No stock gapps . only playstore is added. Good performance.

Yeah I was thinking of switching to Havoc Pie from RR Oreo but I want SE Linux Status to be Enforcing. Is it safe to use permissive status as a daily driver?

Selinux is for protecting ur Userspace so that any external untrusted malware apps cant still ur personal information.
If u using magisk then make sure u pass ur safety net.
Havoc already have things like Privacy guard feature to protect ur personal apps. U can enable and select it for ur personal apps.

Selinux is toughest part for devs. Only pro devs can do it. If u dont right proper sepolicy then rom wont even boot. Adarsh did it coz he knew how to do it. Amol tried it may be. But it need lots of patience to understand where to allow and deny for every permission for each process.

hello, i'm new mido user, i'm using ido too. i wanna try flash custom rom on mido, is it necessary to flash firmware before flash custom ROM, and what's the purpose we flash firmware? bcause in ido, we don't need to flash firmware before flash custom ROM. I'm still looking for the answer of my question, i hope someone can help me to explain it, thanks
Hmm, what do you mean by firmware?
The steps are:
1. Unlock boot loader
2. Install custom recovery (TWRP)
3. Install custom ROM
i've read some threads of custom rom like Candy ROM, and they said we should to flash firmware. that firmware is cm14-mido-firmware-20170430.zip i mean

Oh that. That's only required to flash firmware when you're coming from marshmallow based MIUI only. Otherwise no need.
The thing is if you flash firmware before installing Rom, it's not an issue. You're good to go. You can find latest firmware zips from this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../firmware-firmware-update-2017-08-04-t3651537) thread, huge thanks to @Zile995 for the updates!

Does anyone have tutorial to reflash miui ? im using custom rom epicrom (miui based) but i want using miui again but i dont know how to flash miui at twrp
or should i use custom rom flash method for flashing miui? and do i need lazyflasher?
Hi,
Go to miui web en.Miui . Com, on the top click to download, select your device, then version (global, china, mtk),then click to flashing guide and select fastboot update.
Download a rom you want (stable or weekly) for your device.
Download miui flashing app on the same link.
Extract the rom you have download, the extract extracted file again and you will get a lot of files. Then follow step 3 and the rest of manual.

Its as same as installing any other custom rom, so firstly head over to http://en.miui.com/download.html
and from there get the build you want. If possible keep it on an external storage media, since you may need to format data.
Please note that if you are coming from LOS/ AOSP based roms, you have to format data, and clean wipe your device, and everytime you flash dont forget to flash the lazy flasher also.
Hello, I have one big problem with my mate 10 lite
The problem is, when i flash twrp everything is okay, but when i try to flash any custom rom - I always have bootloop, on every custom :/
I tried to use eRecovery to install stock but it ends in the same way - bootloop
What can I do?
I really wanted to switch for custom...
Try using 338 stock rom and then install custom rom.

You can install other custom ROMs even if you are already on a custom ROM. The thing is all steps indicated
in custom ROM threads, ask you to wipe, and format so already they are cleaning necessary things, before actual
installation (flashing) step starts. But the cleaning is not like a proper clean i.e. done by stock recovery, so if you want
to install a new custom ROM, its better to first install Stock recovery, then wipe/format, then install TWRP, and proceed
with new Custom ROM installation.
If any thing does not work for you, then install ur stock ROM, and then install the new custom ROM ur interested in.

I reckon you must have missed some step, as I did tried most of the ROMs shared in this mate 10 lite
section of XDA forums. Specially the part after installation which says to flash Stock recovery n give it a wipe/format that makes the ROM installation proper, later you can install custom recovery.
For stock ROM, HuruUpdater works with TWRP, try one version of HuruUpdater, if it does not work change your
custom recovery to some other custom recovery (other TWRP, you will find many in this forum), and eventually
one of them will work for u. Still, it doesnt work, change the HuruUpdater version to an earlier version, and repeat
the process.

There is no best recovery that will work in every possible situation (e.g. Stock ROM flashing, Custom ROM flashing, backup/restore etc.). So for each custom ROM u better use the recovery that is indicated in that custom ROM thread.
