Encrypting the z5c - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on the latest build and was thinking of encrypting my phone. Has anyone done this and if so noticed any performance decreases at all?

Excuse me, but what do you mean under "encrypting your phone"?

Settings > security > encrypt phone

The performance are almost same after 5 minutes of restart. But it will always ask you password in every restart.
If you loss your mobile their is no chance of getting online when the theft off your phone.

[Q] Android os using massive amount of data?

It might be me but this seems like a lot for 9 days. I have my background sync off also. Any other ideas what might cause this?

This seems like a pretty huge bug, I would go into AT&T and ask about it, maybe they will bump up your monthly or at least take away any overage fees if you go over your plan. I haven't seen this but I am on wifi a lot of the time personally..
Has anyone else noticed this? If no one has I might see if I can switch it out for another after school

Did you have Google restore your settings when you set up the device for the first time?

Factory reset. Setup Google account without restoring anything. See what happens.

So without restoring anything? Because there is no option for settings restore.

Hm.
Do you watch YouTube on Hi Quality on mobile? I did and used 25 gigs of data. It comes up under Android OS in data usage, which threw me for a while. Stop watching youtube on mobile for a bit and see if that helps.

Lumia 920 Freezing - Any fix for this?

So I've only had my Lumia for 5 days but from day one it's been randomly freezing no matter what I'm doing, be it texting, web surfing, anything. I downloaded the software update and the problem persists. It happens several times per day and I have to soft reset which erases some of my settings, its totally annoying. Is there a fix for this or do I have a defective device?
Try a hard reset which unfortunately will wipe everything from your phone back to factory settings, If problem still persists then you definitely have a faulty device and should return it.
Set your highest data setting to 3G. This will disable LTE but for me it seems to solve the problem. Let me know if this works for you.

Sorry...disabling one of the best features of your phone to get it to work correctly is not solving the problem. You have a defective unit plane and simple

Yeah I'm sending it back tomorrow lol. I was just thinking the same thing. Nokia wanted me to remove skype cause they said that was causing it, then they said the facebook app was causing it. It's like ok, I have to disable Facebook, Skype, and IM+ to get it to work? What's the point of this damn phone? lol. Yeah my device is defective.

I know for a fact my device isn't defective because mine didn't start freezing until the portico update.

You missed my point. Disabling any stock feature of the phone to get it work properly is not a "fix", it's a bandaid. I stand by my statement...defective. Whether it be the hardware or software...still defective.

If you have a sim card that does not support LTE then yes it is a fix. However. I have also installed the portico update, 4G disabled and the phone went from never rebooting or freezing to reboot 2-3 times a day and at least 1 freeze.

The mother of all wakelocks!

Hey guys check this out.
I'm lucky to get 3.5 hours screen on time at the minute.
Thinking about downgrading to .256 because I didn't have the problem then, what do you think

Looks like it's fast dormancy that's raping your battery. What's fast dormancy? Read here. Check if your carrier supports it. If they don't, disable it.
Or you can simply check out this video
Yeah I've looked online, never had this problem in the firmware before, so thinking about downgrading.
And to disable It, I'll have to root :/ how would one go about doing that? Going through root explorer or?
Plus, I'm thinking If I root it, I should make a TA backup If I decide to flash anything. How would one go by doing that?
Thanks J

Ehh.. I wouldn't go through all of that just to change one tiny thing. It's actually just simpler to downgrade or upgrade, depending on the build you're on now. I personally like 290 and I have never had any issues with it. I'm not running it now though (GPe), but it's a good one. I read that 136 has some issues.

I had a few bugs in .290 and I'm currently on .136 the latest with this problem.
If I Downgrade will I lose my IMEI like I see most people do ?
Thanks

I also have noticed a substantial increase in the wakeups on .136.
And I rarely am off Wi-Fi, if at all, and according to the FD theory mentioned as the possible culprit, that wouldn't be what is increasing my wakeups.
Very strange.
we have stamina for it.

Yup, and FD only applies to 3G, so it can't and won't happen if your on 2G, 4G or WiFi.

VIBRATE issue

Hi!
Sometimes vibrate in my Xperia Z2 doesn't work... :crying: What is going on?
Ive have the issue too and it seems to be a hardware issue
The issue persists across firmwares
Im replacing my device in hopes i dont face the same issue, i recomend you do the same if posible
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I was having this issue as well but it seems to have stopped randomly after a little. What I did was touch a magnet to the bottom on back and hopefully set it back in place. Hasn't stopped in over 24 hours. Another thing I'd recommend is if you're bootloader unlocked and you're turning you're voltage down to stop cause that could be the cause of it since the motor isn't getting enough voltage
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Well I spoke too soon... Just stopped vibrating till I hit it. Sigh :/

So I'm bringing the phone into square trade... They're gonna look at it and see if they can fix it... I hope they notice it since it's not all the time... If they can't fix it they're gonna reimburse me for it.

Considering battery issues, should we take the update?

Title sums it up; considering the strange wifi issue causing massive battery drain on devices as seen in another thread, those of us getting replacements or new devices, should we still take that out of the box update if given the option, or hold off and show results? Did anyone not update and see a difference in wifi?

Interestingly enough, I have much better battery life after using greenify to freeze amazon and pandora. I am running the newest update right now, headed home for my replacement devices due to scratches issue...maybe update doesn't matter? Thoughts?
