Is one-click root viable? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if any of you have experience with the following developer and his guide (link):
rootmygalaxy.net/safely-root-xperia-z5-compact-with-pre-rooted-firmware/
Thanks!

as long as you're willing to unlock your bootloader, easy rooting is available for a long time already. TWRP does a good job here. If you don't want to rely on the DRM fix, you'll have to install some 5.x firmware and back up the DRMs from there.

[Q] Root for JB v10.4.2.15

I finally upgraded from ICS v9.4.2.28 to JB 10.4.2.15 US stock.
I rooted my ICS but lost it after the upgrade.
I'll appreciate help with a simple root process or tool (similar to One-click Root for Asus I used with ICS)
Please note that my bootloader is not unloacked
if you look around you'll see that there aren't any rooting solutions for JB, not yet.... My thread is right above your asking about kinda the same thing...

Thanks for your reply.
Someone referred me to YouTube titled "How To Install Custom Recovery and Root the Transformer Prime with Jelly Bean!" (sorry, but I'm not allowed to add external links yet)
I will appreciate your opinion.
No worries.
The youtube vid you're referring to demands unlocking it. Keep in mind in doing so your warranty for all intents and purposes is out the window...
But in short the only way to root is to unlock and set up custom firmware...

Thanks, this was also my understanding.
As I don't want to lose my warranty for now, I will wait for a root solution that doesn’t require unlocking – hopefully it will be available soon.

[Q] Any rooting method that does not involve dubious files?

Firstly, this is not my first rooted device.
For all intents and purposes, I do not trust the rooting methods posted here in XDA.
Is there a safer or official way to root my Z ultra?
I do not intend some jackass getting any personal info from my device or harvest my IMEI.
I have tried the flashtool http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/41-sony-xperia-z-ultra-c6833
I ran it and let me be honest, its not something I would reinstall ever again. I did not go further with the procedure and removed it.
To make it clear, I do not want a third party tool that does the "Rooting" for me. I can program if I have to.
Of course, I would not mind a tool if it was open source and I could compile it myself.

It's a pinned sticky, I doubt mods would allow any illegal/infected software to be posted let alone pinned.

Tools, which 101% sure do not harvest anything:
[ROOT TOOL] rootkitXperia - Root Many Xperia! [CVE-2014-3153] (if you really want to, this one has all it's source online for you to check and compile for personal use.)
Easy Root Tool for various Xperia devices
They install the needed/required binaries and apk to root your device. They both do not work properly on the very latest ROM versions so you will need to be on the previous iteration at least.

My 'tool' does not root, it only installs recovery. If you want to root it you can flash the su binary and supersu apk from recovery... but thank you for your confidence, the quality and trust worthiness of my packages is something I take pride in. :good:

Rooting Lollipop & Marshmallow without losing DRM

If anyone has problems and cannot root Lollipop or Marshmallow then I can help. Please ask here.
Oh, is achieving root possible now without unlocking the bootloader? If it's true, that's nice to hear.
I've already lost my DRM stuff, but please enlighten us.

If you do have a way please post a tutorial here. That's the point of an open community like XDA. If you don't (or not willing to post), I don't see the point of this thread.
Seems like a placeholder thread to me. And as mentioned by @Stevethegreat pointless

3 negative comments in answer to my post; is this what I get when I openly offer help?
I have my DRM backed up as 1.ta and 2.ta. All I have to do is re-lock the bootloader and the DRM partitions will be active again.
I'll take my offer of help elsewhere; end of thread for me.
Thanks

Well, I don't think the comments in the thread neither have malicious intent nor being rude. Just that, if you have a way to back up the TA partition and don't mind helping, why not post a tutorial in the thread so as to help out as many people as possible. I mean this is XDA right? We should help each other as a community!
And, in the same boat as jelbo, with my TA partition already wiped, so not much for me too.
Cheers!
They wasn't meant to be rude I just think that there are other threads where this could have been incorporated eg http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3343394
The issue is forums get harder to navigate when there is clutter and since I don't see many moderator activity in newer Sony threads well ya'know
Apologies if my post was offensive I seem to be p**sing many people off here atm

I think this guy next Luca todesco who post photoshopped screenshot as a prove of getting jailbreak but of course without any sharing,.
Guys, do not get fooled by this old trick. In order to backup drm keys, you need to hack dm verity, and Sony ric what is the same hard as getting jailbreak for IOS...
Edit 1, very interesting, this genius was be able to hack almost unbreakable system, but he can't figure out on how to unlock the tablet. Bravo...:good:

Indeed, even no screenshot. What I really meant with Luca todesco is that he is pseudo-hacker who tells he is able to hack any version of highly secure ios system by wasting a couple of hours of his time whereas pangu and taig and some other teams can't make it for months.
And the same man is here. Who asserts he got backuped original drm keys on one bare word...
It seems I've backed-up my TA but cannot use it with a custom ROM. I can re-install a stock ROM and then re-install the TA, apparently. I did back-up the TA before I unlocked the bootloader though. Perhaps some of/all of you know how to do this. Sorry for the confusion if there was any.

Does not installing a stock ROM put the TA partition back?
Just tried re-locking the bootloader and replacing the TA on the rooted machine; soft-brick comes to mind! So, I've backed up the TA before rooting but cannot use the TA on a rooted machine. Wonderful! Maybe you all\some of you knew that already. I'll keep my mouth shut in future.

From what I understand, unlocking the bootloader wipes the TA partition with no way of you restoring it unless you have some way to back it up. I mentioned rooting without unlocking the bootloader in the first comment was because I had the impression that backing up the TA partition requires root, so maybe I was wrong.
Installing a stock ROM doesn't put the TA partition back, again from my limited understanding from reading through some of the threads, so once you unlocked the bootloader, it's gone forever, even if you install a fresh stock ROM.
It seems that I've unlocked the bootloader and backed-up the TA at the same time, using Flashtool. Root wasn't got because I could not flash the custom kernel because it needed an unlocked bootloader. So, I've got the TA backed-up from the original stock ROM but cannot re-install it unless I've got a stock ROM installed.

Ascend XT2 (H1711) - Unlocked (Help please)

Thank you. I don't suppose you could recommend a tutorial or guide, could you? This is my first ROOTing project, and I'm kinda stumbling through it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
