How to UNROOT RemixOS - Remix OS for PC

Hi, I have a video streaming application (Premim Play) which won't let me stream videos if it finds a rooted device.
Being RemixOS already rooted I cannot use it!
I've already tried disabling root into related settings (in fact root menu disappear from the settings app), but Premium Play app recognize anyway that the OS is rooted. I tried using a local shell and I can see there's su command.
Is there a way to remove root completely?
Thanks in andavance

Hi there,
sadly I can't help but I need to know this too, also for a video app that checks root.
You can try to hide root for your app but for mine it doesn't work as it checks for root in some weird NDK way.
Hopefully bumping this thread triggers some response.
Regards

Use the RMXTools. Convert the system.sfs into (I don't remember if it img or iso.) Unpack it and then find the xbin folder. Delete su and busybox. Pack it all into a new (I don't remember if it img or iso.) Save the old system.sfs somewhere. Convert (I don't remember if it img or iso.) into a sfs. Rename it to system.sfs and then move it to RemixOS folder. Should be unrooted and no busybox installed. The system.sfs will be a smaller size than the other one.
By the way. Unroot will let the WIFI work better. Root is screwing with the WIFI for some reason.

Can you tell more or where you get this info?

some apps like puzzle and dragon must run as unroot platform
so i have no idea for root enviroument on REMIX OS

Untested suggestion: https://www.howtogeek.com/248619/how-to-unroot-your-android-phone/
Backup before trying anything!

I can Unroot Remix OS without lost the sound following this guide and only remove the SU and keeping the BusyBox. Thanks a lot....

I tried this method few times and it doesn't work on the games I wanted to play like DBZ Dokkan Battle or Fire Emblem Heroes.

I think there is some apps that can hide you root. Just google something like "root hider android" or something

I tried that already but it doesn't work. There is a way to play the Fire Emblem Heroes using xposed but I'm not sure if it works on Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle. I'll try it later on.

Look at the Nook General page at "Work Around" issues. The OP his some tips. I believe #12 or 13 deals with live wallpaper manipulation with root explorer.
Thanks. The link to the file in #12 isn't working for me. Do you know what it was? (Was it the "LiveWallpapers_NC.zip" file?)
Edit: and do you know what the best program for the Root Explorer is? (Root Explorer was about $4. Is there something free out there?)
Doesn't Auto-Nooter 1.0.1 enable live wallpaper? It must, because I didn't do any ADBing or sideloading that I remember.
Cheers,
kev

Try this link (I was able to download from there. Got the link from NookDevs, it should be valid). Root Explorer is the best way to work around adb most times. It is worth the investment. Just follow instructions in work around post.

I am trying an app called "Super Manager" which is free.
I am confused at item #12, where it says to install "this" file. (I assume the zip file is what is being referred ti?)
Once I download the .zip file, How do I install it? Don't I have to flash it? (Am I only trying to install the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk, and moving the other 2 files into the correct directory in addition to setting the permissions?)

I did not look at the zip file, sorry. I did notice that there were a couple of scripts with it that looks like the whole thing would be flashed in recovery. I found this stand alone apk for the app which I would feel more comfortable with. Install it per instructions. I got the download link from the attached thread that shares which wallpapers may be working. Good luck

GApps on the Nook Tablet

Ok (after rooting) here is how I installed GApps (Market, Google Framework, etc) on the Nook Tablet, as well as the steps I took to stabilize everything...
1. Downloaded GApps package from goo-inside.me and extracted files.
2. Deleted the setupwizard.apk file from the set of extracted files (in the system\app folder).
3. Copied "system" folder from extracted files to tablet via USB.
4. Used Root Explorer to remount /system and copy files into their designated locations, and also set permissions (644) on all copied apk's in /system/app folder.
5. Rebooted.
6. Ran the market, signed in with my Google account, and downloaded/installed Superuser. Ran the binary update within the app.
7. Install any additional apps from Android Market.
8. Profit.
Known issues...
1. If setupwizard.apk ends up on your tablet you will not be happy.
2. A factory reset is recommended after installing GApps (though probably not necessary).
3. Not all apps show in the Market. Perhaps a build.prop tweak will fix this???
Enjoy!!!
this is a second good news after rooting!
anlong:
Use either wireless adb found here: https://market.android.com/details?id=siir.es.adbWireless
or use debugging toggle found here: http://code.google.com/p/secure-set.../detail?name=ADBWidget-0.2-alpha.apk&can=2&q=
^ instructions for that:
Download ADBWidget.apk
Copy ADBWidget.apk to /system/app (you can use root explorer or something.)
Add ADBWidget to your home screen
Anlog,
I was able to get SuperUser installed following the directions on the other discussion! Thanks for much for all your hard work.
Working on getting Google Apps installed right now.
Update: Well I have SuperUser on my Nook, but whenever I try to copy anything to \system\app it tells me I don't have permissions. Looks like I can't get root to actually run.
run chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
which version of Gapps do I need Cyanogen 6 MDPI?
Make sure root is fully working before you try to install GApps. Use the latest ones for CM7 (I think its from August). You need to remount /system as RW before copying the files and setting permissions. Root Explorer lets you do all of that.
All of this could be done with an ADB script as well, but I won't have time to write one today. Anyone?

Do not install chainfire! I just tried it and it boot-looped, had to force factory restore.
Finally figured out what was wrong initially, root does not seem to work unless you manually enter commands. Attempted market setup, for some reason it is still force closing every time. Any chance someone who got it working could upload exact files they used.

I ran into issues copying the whole folder over. I am currently running the google market though.
do everything one step at a time, install the googleframework first (from the directions on the kindle page), then do the market. I ran into the first time through the market would not actually connect so I rebooted the NT.
*note*
each time you reboot your NT you need to go in and what appears is toggle the usb debugging off then on, same with the "auto mount", and I did the unknown sources as well (not sure if this is necessary). It appears a reboot resets the flags and our menu isn't actually writing the settings so you have to toggle it.
Push comes to shove, start over with fresh reboot. It took me a few times (as it probably did others as well).

that part is clearly stated but using root explorer and getting it to mount doesnt seem to work properly on my device. I have root and superuser. titanium backup works fine. for some reason root explorer on es explorer says it fails every time
-1 Go download latest Gapps and extract the contents to your HD. There will be two folders, one of which is "system."
-2 In the system folder there will be more folders, one of which is "app." Inside of app are all the system APKs.
-3 Detele SetupWizard.apk
-4 Now copy the app folder to the root of your NT SD card via USB.
-5 Next step you need to use ADB or Root Explorer...I used Root Explorer.
-6 Open root explorer, then go to sdcard and you should see the APP folder you copied.
-7 Once there, hit menu -> multi select > then put a check mark to what you want copied then hit the copy button.
-6 now hit back untill you're back in the root
-8 Then navigate to system, and at the top you should see button "Mount RW" hit that button.
-9 Then go into the App folder, and hit paste.
-10 All the selected APKs are now in the system/app folder.
-11 Now you need to give each of the copied apps permission by long-clicking on it till a menu comes up, hit permissions, then check all the check boxes next to "Owner"
-12 After you did that to all the apps hit the "mount RO" button on top of the screen
-13 Reboot the NT.
That should do it...hopefully I havent missed anything.

[MOD] Hulu/WIN Flash Hack

Hey guys. So I made this hack for my old epic, then my GSII, now I'm posting it here since I know I DEFINITELY wanted unrestricted hulu access on such a nice tablet, without the extra price/"not available for devices" BS of Hulu+. This should also work for any other sites that restrict mobile devices. This hack simply changes 3 characters in the flash library file from AND to WIN, and copies my modded file over the stock/updated adobe file upon each boot.
For those who wish to learn more the original post can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=114215
New install instructions
Flash via CWM OR follow the instructions above, but you must locate the files within the zip sub folders. They are in the folders they should be in if you were to unzip to the device root. You may also copy and paste with root explorer if you prefer that to ADB (I do). Just make sure you get the file permissions right (they should match other files in the same folder).
NOTE: If you have adfree or another adblock, you'll see a message to disable it, you don't need to disable it (they just want you to watch their commercials), just wait the 30 seconds or whatever it is and that black message counts as your commercial, and your show will play
Once we get a few custom kernels out there with init.d support we won't need script manager (init.d support just means it will run all scripts in the folder /system/etc/init.d) making the process a bit cleaner but for now this works. I also have a cwm flashable version but we'll have to wait a bit longer for that. For now let's just be happy Jcase got us root Enjoy!
EDIT: Updated for ICS AND JELLYBEAN and flash version 11.1.115.12 (8/9/2012) (latest..for now) LATEST VERSION IS BUILT TO BE EASIER/MORE RELIABLE FOR SOME USERS
TESTED: Confirmed on Galaxy SII on CMX. Turns out Jelly Bean (and maybe ICS) have changed the order on boot so that init.d runs BEFORE flash overwrites our hack on each boot. In other words, the flash APK is re-unpacked in its non-hacked form by adobeflashplayer on each boot somewhere after the boot animation and probably just before the homescreen is displayed. The init.d scripts we run are unfortunately run at the VERY beginning, while the OEM logo is still displayed (BEFORE the boot animation). Because of this, script manager is currently absolutely required until I can find another "entry point" to run these scripts
It is this unfortuante order that requires using script manager to run the script "on boot" later in the process.
Be sure BUSYBOX is installed or GTFO
It IS typically included in most custom roms, but still, MAKE SURE.
HOWTO Video (without using the adb method above though it still works just fine) thanks to jjdevega if you need it here http://youtu.be/rXTdIyMP_Xs
OLD install instructions below for those without CWM:
So here goes.
1. Update flash via the market to the latest version
2. Download & unzip the 2 files linked below to be pushed to /data/flash
3. adb shell mkdir /data/flash
4. adb push S98fixflash /data/flash
5. adb push libflashplayer.so /data/flash
5.5 (almost forgot) Install Busybox from the market, let it run, grant su, and have it install the latest busybox for you
6. Install Script Manager from the market
7. Open Script Manager and be sure to select to give it root access
8. Browse to /data/flash in Script Manager, select S98fixflash and select root and boot options (thus making it run on each boot, with root permissions)
9. Reboot (Press + hold power, power off)
10. Open Browser, open settings, advanced, user agent string, desktop
Thanks OP for the mod!!!
Now that we have root can anyone try vgeezy's hacked apk and see if it works? this method should allow hulu.com and is much more noob friendly.

For those saying they got this to work, how were they able to get a root adb shell on their comp to make this work? Although rooted with vipermods tool, I cannot get a root adb shell through windows, and my understanding is that it takes a modified boot-img for that to happen.
Is there a way to make this mod work from a terminal on the tablet? Thanks!
Edit: Tried opening the prime's internal storage up through windows, going to android/data and creating a 'flash' folder and moving the two files into it. Then going through script manager and setting the script to run as root at boot.
Didnt work.
However using ES to move the files to system/data/flash and setting to run at boot from there seems to have worked.
Any help?

Also, is it just me or does ScriptManager constantly force close for anyone else?

Connectbot can replace adb. Also, you don't need to use adb at all, you can use root explorer to place the files in the correct locations, it's just easier to write a step-by-step that way. Also, if you rooted, you could try running from that same folder as you will have the adb tool within the "one click root" folder you most likely used (or normal platform tools if you used jcase's step-by-step).
Script Manager doesn't have issues for me, it's very popular software and well made. Maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling? If not, clear cache/data for script manager and try again? Not sure...
EDIT: If you don't HAVE root, and try to OBTAIN root while running script manager, it will force close I believe. Make SURE you have root, use adfree or titanium backup to confirm maybe...
2nd Edit: Also, don't use usb transfer, that just puts it in the 'internal sd' folder. Use root explorer and back all the way out to the root directory first.
I tried this and couldn't seem to get it to work. However, for anyone looking for a quick way to watch hulu in a browser, download "flash video browser" from the market. It is $0.99 I believe and no additional tinkering is needed.

For those those that don't have root and/or don't wish to mess with root/existing Flash installation an alternative is to buy/use Flash Video Browser. Works great on the Prime and was recently updated with ICS compatibility. Works great with Hulu.
Those who did this, did it affect your ability to upgrade to ICS? I'd like to try, but don't want to miss out on future OTAs.

Any clue why the User Agent String option might be missing from Settings>Advanced?
It's odd, because when I first got the TP I hunted for it, but couldn't find it--but then stumbled across someone mentioning it online, and lo-and-behold it had appeared for some reason.
Now that I'm trying to use this hack, it's missing again. Any ideas?

If u have a Ti(obviously),then first i think u need to get it Rooted (sometimes stock recovery does it too)in order to extract a widget that came preinstalled, then after u root it,use root explorer to go to system/app and then look out for the widget.apk's ..
Similarly, for the icons, look for the app in system/app(using root explorer, and then copy the .apk to ur sd card, put the file on ur desktop, rename it as a zip file, extract it .
Then go to the folder called res, then drawable-hdpi and all icons will be there in .png format.
But all this is useless if u havent got it rooted, because I think u wouldn't risk to lose warranty on such a phone..
Hope this helps

It helps, though there's no root solution as of now. I don't know where to start for the root, technical support won't help. Neither will the internet. There's already a topic on XDA but no solutions.
I think you don't need root for this.
Enable USB debugging, install phone drivers to your computer, then do adb pull /system/ path-to-dump-folder.

I've yet to find appropriate drivers to connect to ADB. Whatever I do the phone also connects the MTP at the same time even if PTP is chosen. Any help would be much appreciated as I'd also like to backup the device via ADB. With the latest updates the phone is now running 4.2.2.
If I am not wrong, Root explorer does work on non-rooted phone.
you can access the /system partition for copying stuffs. (as you can understand without root it will only work in 'read only' mode).

Extracting Stock Camera

I am trying to figure out how to extract the camera app from the stock ROM to use in the CM13 ROM. Partly because I would like to use it for slow-motion video and to experiment with it, but also because I would like to turn this into a learning experience. I've been following instructions to flash ROMs for a few years now, but haven't gone farther than that.
So here has been my experience so far:
- Backed up CM13, flashed stock (rooted), and converted the app to user app in order to back it up.
- I noticed that it would crash on startup as a user app, so I converted it back to a system app as an experiment. It still would crash on startup.
- I decided to try going another route and extracted the stock ROM in SuperR's Kitchen. Got the apk, flashed it in CM13. Same situation: crash on startup as user or system app.
I am unsure where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Side note: I know there is a questions sub-forum too, but I figured it fit here better as it is about extracting an app to mod the ROM. If I was mistaken, please just move the thread over to the appropriate sub-forum.

Did the logcat give any pointers as to why it might have crashed?
It's a camera app, for MiFavor, and only for MiFavor. It's probably depending on something else from the stock ROM, and that's why it's crashing in CM.
I like this idea. I might even look into modifying the app itself, to see if we can get it working outside of MiFavor.
I don't think I worded it clearly enough, the first time I converted it to a user app and back to system, it was still in the stock ROM. Something about the conversion screwed things up. I'll have to flash stock again at some point and grab logcats while it's working and after I screw it up.
In the meantime, I attached a logcat for everything containing "camera" after it was converted to a system app in cm13. It's kind of harsh to look at it in pure text format, but I used the matlog app with its color coding to record it.
To be honest, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at with this, or if I went about this in the right way.
EDIT: I have no idea why the logcat is not attaching correctly. I'll need to find some other way of doing it.
It works fine under CM according to a friend. You just need the libs to go along with the app.
Here is the WHOLE folder of ZTE camera, he just put this inside the /system/priv-app/ folder and apparently it's working just fine after a reboot.

- When I extracted the app from the ROM using SuperR's Kitchen, that folder did exist in /system/priv-app/ZTE_Camera/. However, the directory was completely empty, unlike your download.
- When I installed the app in CM13 and converted it to a system app, it moved to /system/priv-app/ rather than /system/priv-app/ZTE_Camera/.
- I copied the lib folder to /system/priv-app/, didn't work. I then created the folder ZTE_Camera and copied both lib and the apk into it. Didn't change anything. Of course rebooting with each change. I didn't think this would work in the first place, as the application shortcut on my home screen points to /system/priv-app/.
Definitely thanks though for helping me out. Beer... that's another matter. Nasty stuff that is. I can just hear people yelling at me behind their screens lol.
Was it a deodexed ROM? Might need to try it with the odex files? When I check /system/priv-app/ZTE_Camera, there's also an "oat" folder with odex files since this hasn't been deodexed...
Or maybe SuperR's kitchen was trying to automatically deodex while you were extracting.
To be honest, I never understood odex, just throwing ideas out at this point.

I'm sure it works, friend confirmed it works on CM13 and I'm using it on BrokenOS. To clear it up.
It should be /system/priv_app/ZTE_Camera. And inside that folder should be the apk along with the lib. If you just extract the zip I gave you into priv_app it should just work. I have no idea why it doesn't work for you. Everything about the camera works. Slomo, video h265, the works.
You can try making a backup of the stock camera app using titanium backup then install it on your phone after flashing CyanogenMod. What I would do is flash zad miix then back up the stock camera app with titanium backup. Then transfer the back up to your PC. Then flash CyanogenMod and reinstall the camera app with titanium backup.
as already I will have this phone I start doing this mods
if anyone can search the file this and tell me if an entry is interesting?
I'm currently using LOS 14.1, and the method suggested does not work - File Manager throws an error about R/W, TWRP claims /system is empty, and ADB push says "Successful" but isn't.

It is working for me, just copied the files with root explorer to priv-app, restarted and it is up and running.
Thanks @BlazingBullets for providing the files!
PS. the only problem so far is that you can't access the pictures right through the app, i think we need the zte gallery for that.

Root Explorer doesn't work for me either. Did you root with SuperSU or with the Lineage root zip?

Used SuperSU 2.79SR3.
I can confirm using the files provided works. I have the stock MM camera working with all of it's shooting modes !
Any body have the files in a .zip they can upload? I have no computer access and the few apps I tried on my phone seem to corrupt the files.
First app I tried extracted the 7zip file just fine.

You have to disable the write-protect on the system partition: in a terminal emulator, preferably in TWRP, type out:
Code:
reboot disemmcwp

Thanks, that did it. Copied successfully to /system/priv_app, but it doesn't show up after a reboot. When I accessed the folder and tapped the APK, I got "there is a problem parsing the package."

Maybe the app permissions are wrong?

Should I give it full permissions then?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: After giving everything (ZTE_Camera folder, the APK, the lib folder, the arm folder, and all the libs) full permissions, the app works. However resolution is limited to 8Mp 4:3 (3200 x 2400). Can anyone else confirm this?
