[ROM][Official Beta][7D-503L & 7D-501u][Lollipop 5.1.1][EMUI 3.1][C208B011SP05/SP06]
Huawei has officially started its lollipop upgrade program for MediaPad X1 (7D-503L & 7D-501u) by pushing the first OTA updates to beta testers.
If you are not one of them but would still like to give it a swirl, ROM files and update instructions as below.
Flashing method is standard huawei procedures other than u will need to flash 2 files this time round, the first serves to re-partition the internal memory to accommodate lollipop.
The usual 'be careful, do it at your own risks' caveats apply, do take note that everything on the phone's internal memory (the 16GB part) will be wiped, your microSD card will not be affected though.
Have fun!
Not working:
1) Please note MHL (HDMI) function is not available in this ROM, if you require this function, do not update.
2) Xposed Framework is also a no go on EMUI 3.1 without modding, if u really must try, remember to have the uninstaller (flashable zip) ready in your microSD card, u will need that when you run into a X1 that fails to boot
(Huawei's default per app 320/400 dpi setting is working fine, thus non working Xposed is non consequential if u only need it for this purpose)
Steps:
1) Ensure your X1 (501u and 503L) is on the latest official (non-rooted) EMUI 3.0 B011 ROM, if not, kindly update to it
7D-501u - http://emuirom123.dbankcloud.com/7D-501u_EMUI3.0_Android4.4_V100R002C208B011.zip?rid=1141
7D-503L - http://emuirom123.dbankcloud.com/7D-503L_EMUI3.0_Android4.4_V100R002C208B011.zip?rid=1142
Clear cache and reset to factory settings before you flash the Beta 5.1.1 below.
2) Download the 2 necessary ROM files (the smaller 30+MB one is an update for modem / radio / kernel and also for re-partitioning etc; the larger near 1GB file is the ROM proper)
7D-503L
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9ea7yb206d869ya/7D-503LV100R002C208B011SP05.zip

7D-501u

http://www.mediafire.com/download/dld8lxrewj288tm/7D-501uV100R002C208B011SP06_Main.zip
3) At the root of your microSD card, create a folder and name it 'dload', rename the 30+MB file to 'update.zip' and copy that into 'dload' folder
4) Go to 'Settings', 'Updater', 'Menu' and 'Local update'. Choose the (only) update available and perform the update.
5) Phone will reboot and update will run, when you see a big tick, eject the microSD card and the phone will reboot again (if it doesn't, simply long press the power button to force shut and restart it).
6) After the phone has rebooted, re-insert the microSD, navigate to 'dload' folder and erase the update.zip file
7) Unzip the near 1GB ROM file and copy the update.app file into 'dload' folder
8) Download unlmt.rar file below and copy the 0 byte cfg file into the dload folder
9) repeat above steps 4) to 6) (delete update.app instead at step 6)**
** If you are prompted for a PIN code when the phone reboots after a flash, fret not, simply force shut it by long pressing the power button, then enter Recovery by pressing the vol+ & power button simultaneously, and choose to clear cache. The PIN code request will be gone when the phone reboots
Google Play Store and Calendar / Contacts Sync
10) Your X1 should now be on 5.1.1, download and install the 3 google apk files below to get Play Store and Calendar / Contacts Sync.
(Good news here is the whole google framework already exists in the ROM, therefore there is no need to mess with root to do that)
Root
To obtain root access on this ROM, use the latest Wondershare MobileGo one click root (Win) program - thanks to jonjong http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63397619&postcount=34 - to root it.
There is also another 'cleaner' method of flashing custom CWM recovery and then chainfire's update.zip, but this will involve unlocked bootloader and some knowledge or ability to read chinese, will find some time to include a detailed write-up if there is demand for it. For now, you can download the necessary below:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/i564vr6587r2ma8/X1_5.1.1_Root.rar
Both methods need an unlocked bootloader AFAIK. If u come from B011, the bootloader should already have been unlocked.
If your X1 is 501L, you can unlock your bootloader by flashing the latest B102 ROM (EMUI3.0 / KK 4.4.2 / International / GAPPS) released by Huawei Germany - thanks to super_sonic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63420650&postcount=50
B102 download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/i...iaPad_X1_SDCard_Update_Android_4.4.2_B102.zip
Do note that if you do a factory reset after updating to 5.1.1 or re-flash 5.1.1 within 5.1.1, there is a chance that the bootloader will be re-locked.
Your mileage may vary.
Good luck
what about 501u ??
Great! Finally! Waiting for 501U
How is the performance guys. Is it snappier or the same lags?
Thank you very much, have been waiting for this since August as promised by Huawei. I don't want to stuck at kitkat (B011).

With my 2 cents, you can use this rom on 501u with 4G switch off.
I dont understand,i have done everything right, but still its 4.4.2 and not 5.1.1.
And it doesnt recognize which version i have!!
When it boots it says android, and it doesnt have the Honor X1 logo.

have u tried flashing the big file it in recovery?
if still not working, download and unzip the attached file, put the unzipped 0 byte cfg file together with update.app in dload folder, reboot the phone and see if it auto flashes, if it does, hope it flashes as per normal.
if it doesn't, restart in recovery and tried flashing it again.

it is the same file i posted in the OP, it is not removed, rather Eoo007 didn't do a proper link, here u go:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9ea7yb206d869ya/7D-503LV100R002C208B011SP05.zip
from huawei's forum, this file apparently also serves the purpose of re-partitioning to accommodate lollipop, other than updating the necessary modems.
good luck
Hi everyone guys,I'm from Dubai.United Arab Emirates. I'm in trouble.
Maybe i bricked my phone.
I Rooted it, installed TWRP, and then i updated it not with the TWRP.
Since then i have got a bootloop issue, stuck with the Honor logo.
I can access the BOOTLOADER and the stock recovery (i tried to wipe and reset the phone here, but it do all the things and don't solve the problem) and ERecovery (same here i've got an error)
Try to put an update firmware on the MicroSD and make it run but didn't do anything, what can i do
U sure its a bootloop? First boot after update can make about 30 minutes. Anyways Flash stock recovery and try the update with the SDcard.

So to clarify you flashed your stock recovery, put your extracted stock firmware on your external sd card under \dload. Then you entered recovery and installed the local update and it did not work?

can u give me this stock recovery download link
What's the exact model ? KIW-L21C432 ?
You don't need the stock recovery, just plug the charger, then the phone will boot on erecovery (second/alternate recovery)
You need the full ROM though, not an update.
If it's a KIW-L21C432, here is the stock ROMs:
KIW-L21 B140
KIW-L21 B330
unzip the dload folder, put it on you sdcard, then bot with the three buttons pressed.

- Make sure you have a stock recovery
- Unzip the downloaded file
- Remove your sdcard from your phone and plug it into your computer using a sdcard reader.
- Copy the dload folder with the UPDATE.APP file to your sdcard.
- Remove your sdcard properly from your computer and plug it back to your phone.
- make sure you have enough battery, so leave your phone connected to the main power supply.
- Hold Power On+ both Volume buttons at the same time : it could be tricky to pass this process, so you may have to repeat it many times.
- Once done, the update should start !
- Once you get a success message, wait long enough until the process complete.
- You could then search for newer updates.
- Finally, stop using Cyanogenmod if you're a noob.

- Download stock Recovery from here B20 stock recovery thanks @rczrider and this one ZTE_A2017U_StockB20U_by_DrakenFX.zip

- Change the extension from .up to .zip ,
- Move it to you SDCard.
- Enable OEM UNLOCKING in Developers Options
- reboot to stock recovery
- Apply via SDCard > Select your file and apply.

If The first doesn't work out do this then :

with this method you do lose the unlocked bootloader, don't you?
I tried it on my friend's axon 7 the other day and he was able to get the update but the bootloader was locked again. For him it doesn't matter as he uses stock and no apps that require root.

I must have used the "fastbook oem lock" by mistake through the whole process then.

I'm guessing you went through the official ZTE bootloader unlock process, ie filled out the form on their site. When you do that, your device IMEI is placed on a list that will no longer receive regular OTA updates, and will only get B20_Boot.
Try putting the B27 OTA update ZIP on an microSD card, rename to update.zip, make sure that OEM Unlocking is enabled in your developer options, boot into stock recovery, and apply update from microSD card.

What about steps to root B27 stock?
I am on B20 stock and haven't update to B27 yet due to waiting to see if Bootloader unlock and root are still possible after b20. Or is it like the old SGS5 days of having to go back to older version, root and then go forward with updates?

Hello
If you have already downloaded the updates packages, you don't need to redownload them via "System update"
Just copy them to Internal storage and follow the video
(In my case I need "update.zip" and "update_data_full_public.zip" and "update_full_VIE-L29_hw_meafnaf.zip")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4nOXgsic1o
I have all the three files, but in my case the "System Update" option on the settings just not appear. How should I procceed?

I'm not sure, but I think that when you have update to B370, the additional pack have not been installed.

I downloaded rom b384 to copy to internal storage and install by twrp but not, is there any way to install rom from twrp
@vurobben, as long as I know and read about, there's no way to install it unless trough the System Update.
If your mobile is not booting, you've to download the version that allow you to update trough dload folder (in my case, the only one which do this is the 81131 - VIE-L29C636B370). Then, you've to install via TWRP the files that @xzanium said.
In my case, I'll try to do it at night. I've tried to locate the Update on the settings, and also in the apps.
And now my phone no os, i just boot in twrp recovery. Can you make a backup file in twrp and up to google drive?
sorry, my phone is VIE-L29C185
to fix your problem you must download the rollback package(C900B300) and firmware package (C636B190) from this page : http://consumer.huawei.com/kh/support/downloads/index.htm
(search for Keyword "P9 plus")
then install rollback package via 3 buttons methode (vol+ , vol- , power)
then the B190 package
I'll try to updload the files tonight.
I'm trying to do this rollback. Acually I did not know how to do it. I'll try the way @xzanium mentioned.
just extract teh zip file, then copy the dload folder to sd card
shutdown the phone
press all 3 buttons
It kind of did the trick. Now the Build Number is VIE-L19C900B300, but the EMUI is still 5.0 and Android 7.0 (Nougat). I think it'll solve @vurobben boot looping problem.
But.. the System Update option still not appear, and the clock does not work also
I'll keep trying.
Now I'm going to update for 370 (dload), then install TWRP and flash these ZIP files: 1)update_data_full_hw_spcseas, 2) update_data_full_public and 3) update_full_hw_spcseas.
[edit]
Mine is not woking anymore..
I've tried to flash the 'update_data_full_hw_spcseas', but it's in a bootloopping also. Tried to roolback again, but didn't work this time.
Now it enters in Huawei eRecovery, try to get the recovery from the server but fails..
[edit2]
I've installed the Rollback (dload), then I've downloaded the "HUAWEI P9 Plus Firmware (VIE-L29, Android6.0, EMUI4.1.1, C636B190, Thailand, Cambodia, Nonspecific)" on the same site that @xzanium mentioned and installed just after the rollback. Everithing is working now.
I've just checked and I'm on EMUI 4.1.1, Androind 6 (M) and Build VIE-L29C636B190. The goodnews is that the "System Update" is workind now. Tomorrow I'll try to update to Androin N and get everithing fine there also.
Thanks for the help.

when rollback bootloader unlock or relock?
I could not verify yet, but I thing it does lock the bootloader again, because the bootloader option is enable under the developer settings again.
If you've flashed a non-stock recovery like TWRP*, you can not use the OTA update feature. You need to flash the full ROM via TWRP.
* TWRP is now officially supported, make sure you flash that version if you're using an older, unofficial TWRP.
1. Obtain the ROM you want to install. Make sure the download is from miui.com if you want stock
Official site -> My phone is the EEA version, so I use the 'Mi 9T EEA' tab. The website does not update links immediately after a ROM update is released, so you may have to do a bit of digging if you want a very recent update.
You can also check ROM links on third party sites like ezbox.idv.tw, again, make sure the actual download links are from miui.com and not somewhere else.
Latest EEA ROM(Android 10) as of 2020-10-24 -
V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM
Nightly official LineageOS builds
2. Get into TWRP
Either run 'adb reboot recovery'
Or power phone off and boot into TWRP by holding PWR+VOL_UP during boot
3. Upload the ROM to the phone
Code:
adb push ~/Downloads/[B]miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM_12b99693bc_10.0.zip[/B] /sdcard/
4. Flash the ROM via TWRP
5. Flash Magisk if you use it, because flashing the ROM deletes it.
6. Remove the update file:
Code:
adb shell rm /sdcard/[B]miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM_12b99693bc_10.0.zip[/B]
That's it! Reboot your phone into your new ROM!
Also check out my debloat list and my detailed phone settings.
Additional note - formatting /system will brick your phone and you'll have to recover using a fastboot ROM.

So how to get around this when the updater is telling you there is an incremental update?
Simple, we tell the updater to download the full image instead, move the update from the original folder so MIUI won't attempt to upgrade from it on next reboot, boot into TWRP and flash the image there.
1. Settings -> About Phone -> System update -> three dots -> Download latest package
2. Get filename of the update:
3. You now have the filename of the update. I got miui_DAVINCIEEAGlobal_V10.3.15.0.PFJEUXM_b6738621e2_9.0.zip and will be using this name throughout the rest of this how-to, replace the examples accordingly based on what name you got.
4. (optional) Backup the latest ROM file to your PC:
5. Prevent MIUI from seeing the update file and trying to update from it on accident by moving the file a folder higher:
6. Power phone off
7. Boot into TWRP by holding PWR+VOL_UP during boot
8. Flash the ROM via TWRP
9. Flash Magisk if you use it, flashing the ROM deletes it.
10. Boot back into Android and remove the update file:
That's it!
You can also download the full ROM directly through miui.com, but keep in mind the website does not instantly update the link there after a ROM update is released.
https://en.miui.com/download-361.html#619 -> My phone is the EEA version, so I use the 'Mi 9T EEA' tab.
Page best viewed in Firefox, clicking on the lock icon -> Arrow icon in the security tab -> Disable protection, since Xiaomi can't even set their website up properly.
In my case the ROM download through phone was corrupted and I had to edit the site URL from the filename I got to get a proper update file:

Hey @C0rn3j
I am on stock 10.3.12.0 PFJEUXM and TWRP 4PDA 3.3.1.-2 fix and Magisk.
My questions:
1. Is it worth the upgrade to MIUI 11 as it is still Android 9
2. If I flash it through TWRP, did you loose any dual app settings? (as I lost dual apps while backing up the phone with TWRP and Titanium backup)
3. as you said I have to flash the Magisk again, did you choose the latest or the same as was installed on the phone before the upgrade?
Thanks in advance for reply

1. Security updates.
2. I don't use dual apps so I wouldn't know. AFAIK people had issues with using the backup/restore functionality of TWRP on that version. You should probably update it as I believe latest is -4
3. Latest.

I have Nova Launcher, do you use default or as well external one?
Do you think Nova will stay untouched with this upgrade?

Nothing will happen to it
If the Magisk have to be flashed again, does it mean all the hide settings which were there before has to be set again or stay there from the old version? I have few apps in Magisk hide root, so just wondering how this will be affected with rom update
A second question:
I am on 10.3.12.0 not upgraded yet to 10.3.15.0.
Can I upgrade straight to V11.0.2.0 or first to 10.3.15.0 and then to V11?

While flashing did you untick Recovery in the TWRP as I believe the whole 2,2GB ZIP has recovery image and could be flashed and overwrite the TWRP?
Your guide not working, twrp failed to install the update "file corrupted".
I've downloaded the OTA package from "http://c.mi.com//miuidownload/detail?device=1700361" and twrp very happy to install this file, my Mi_9T at the latest update 11.
Unfortunately the archive downloaded through the Updater cannot be flashed as is through TWRP (message: file corrupted)
