HTC One M8 Rooted-Serious battery drain - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm a little at my wits end trying to find a solution to battery drain issue since I rooted my HTC One M8. I was on stock 4.4.2 when I rooted and installed TWRP recovery. I installed stock recovery from 4.4.4 OTA and upgraded to 4.4.4 - followed by reflash TWRP, battery issue still the same. I have modified system\etc\permissions\platform.xml to give apps write access to my sd card and gone back to stock recovery but no change
Prior to rooting, with fairly heavy daily usage, the battery would last at least 14hours but since rooting and similar usage I'm lucky to get 7-8 hours most days battery is gone just after lunch from 8 in the morning. Right now battery usage for the last hour is Google Services 61% Android system 27% Android OS 29% Cell Standby 3% Phone Idle 2% , in the last 6 hours Google Services has averaged 42% with the rest being mostly the same. I have done many searches for info on what might be causing this issue and have tried any solution I have come across but without success. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

[Q] Battery drains over night on my LG p500

I have a LG optimus One P500 with 2.3.3 stock OS and i have high battery consumption . i check the battery status in the morning and it shows that cell standby and phone idle takes 45 - 50% after 1d and 6h .
Is this normal ? It happens every one or two days. So when i go to bed the device is charged but in the morning i have 75% of battery left.
excuse my english !
P.S. with only 3 or 4 apps installed ! that does not cosume battery .
Please help or advice!
Hmmm doesnt seem normal.I get just 1-2% battery drain overnight, but i have rooted my phone and installed franko gb kernel.U can read the guides and try installing this kernel.
P.S:I also had somehow high battery drain with stock kernal, but not as much as yours.
I had a similar situation once. I fixed it by copying all the files off the SD card, format the card (using the menu on the phone settings-storage-format) then copy the data back.
It appears a something was going wrong with the card.
Ice
thanks i will try this at first and see if the problem is solved . If not i dont know...
It drains battery on GB !(Lg Optimus One P500)
So after 13 hours my battery was at 19% on my Lg P500
I checked in Settings/applications/Battery use and guess what :
Cell stanby 31%
Phone idle 30%
voice calls 39% , and when i tapped the meter on top of the display to see the graffic i found out that the line assigned to "awake" it is uninterrupted.
And now after 1 hour after charging the battery use section : cell standby 50%
phone idle48% and display 4% ! AND all the lines in graffic are also uninterrupted.
ADVICE NEEDED !

If the Awake bar is uninterrupted, then some background apps are running continuosly in the background, even when the phone's screen is off. This should not happen unless you have turned ON data-sync and if you've applications which try to connect to internet every 10 mins like facebook, twitter. Check these. You can see what are all the applications running in the background in Settings -> Applications -> Running Services
Yeah...such applications do sync often and you have to make sure that they dont sync every 30 mins for example.
Having root and installed setcpu could makes such differences, for instance, you could make a custom Sleep profile, which undervolt your cpu frequencies when the display is off. Having this and your phone could get enough sleep while you were

Did you transfer songs or any other media recently? My stock phone had a bug wherein a new media transfer would trigger an unending SD Card scan which would suck battery like Ms. Jameson.
I solved it by deleting those files.

How did you discover that this bug was active? Would it actually keep saying Scanning SD Card or something? Because I have had noticeably higher battery drain just yesterday after transferring all my old files back into a newly partitioned card + newly flashed ROM. Just using the ROM and card before moving the files gave me a maximum of 1 day and 5 hours... Today it went to 50% in 8 hours.
I did but by usb cable. After that i erased all data.
Today after 12 hours i have 76% left . It's very strange! Do you have an explanation? I wonder.
Thanks

Oh so that worked? Great.
I was testing a friends music player app when it happened to me. I told him that his album art rendering was very buggy, so we both ended up investigating and he found that the stock rom was performing continous scans. I didn't see icons or anything.

How can you tell if your phone is continuously scanning the sd card?
We at caynogen mod 7 enjoy the sleep button about zero percent change in sleep mode ...its great .. well I was no help to you but I hope you fix your problem

Indeed it's drained battery terribly after upgrade stock rom to official version 2.3.3 (V20D in my country). I have the same problem as well. I found it 25% battery life gone after 4 hours from fully charged status before upgrading to version V20D. I did try playing or testing the GPS & data network 2G (GSM) around after done upgrade. Previously in V20G Android version 2.2.2, 1 full day drained battery for about 30% only.
I have tried GO Launcher EX app before on v2.2.2. I wonder if I should install this launcher app again. Will Launcher app drain more battery life or save power battery? Seeking any recommendation from xda experts here. Please advise.
Thank you.
drains no more
Now that you have 2.3.3 you must kill some apps . try in settings/apps/running and see what apps are active ,then you go to all apps and close apps that are running.
In my case google maps , facebook , yahoo mail and another 2 apps drained my battery . So i closed them and it's ok ! Now every time i use them i stop them after.

if you Maps installed then Uninstall it.
it starts up any time it wants and takes a lot of battery.
Hello.
First I would like to thank istoner for the this great advice. I had the same problem with my optimus one and this helped me a lot.
I just bought the phone a week ago and about 3 days ago i installed winamp app and transfered a few mp3's on the sd card. Just last evening, when i stumbled into this topic, I realised that my high battery drain problem started just after i did the fore mentioned changes to my phone.
Yesterday(data from "Battery use" in Settings) with ~14h since full charge i had like 20% battery left with moderate use during day. So after that, I followed this advice and removed the whole folder from sdcard containing the mp3's and let the phone charging over night again. I used the phone with the same moderation as yesterday. As i'm writing this i'm reading from "Battery use" a 13h 52m uptime since last full charge and my batter is at 74% percent left.
I can't tell you how glad i am i stumbled into this topic. I was just ready to uninstall all my apps and possibly get the phone in service.
I find this a somewhat important problem of the cellphone and i think more users should be informed about this. Could be a nice addition to some faq/tips and tricks topics.
I still have a couple of questions though and i hope someone will be nice enough to answer them.
What could be the cause of this problem? The android os(upgraded official 2.3.3 from stock 2.2.*), the phone's hardware or the sdcard?
What is there to do if I, let's say, go on a trip and i need some music to listen to on my phone?
Thank you.
i highly recommend to FREEZE it using titanium backup pro..
den unfreeze it if your gonig to use it
Afaik Titanium Backup is for rooted phones. Mine is not, as i said i'm using official 2.3.3. I don't know if i'm gonna root it atm just for using titanium backup.
I still hope there is another workaround that doesn't involve rooting the phone.

Unusual Nexus 9 Marsmallow Battery Drain 99013, 99023, 99033

I am running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on my Nexus 9 build number MRA58N. Device is not rooted but the bootloader has been unlocked and I am running everything on stock. Clean fresh install about 5 days ago. I did face some trouble trying to root my tablet at first (boot loop) but instead I formatted and just reflashed the firmware clean using (flash-all).
First few days, performance was below average, lag here and there but it was acceptable and it did go away after a day or so. Could be the tablet adjusting and syncing with the recently installed apps.
What I did find unusual though was the battery stats. It showed numbers (99013, 99023, 99033) processes which I am unfamiliar of. I tried googling it and searching on the xda forums about this but have not found any post on this. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is something wrong with my device? It could be the culprit to the overheating and battery drain.
(still trying to find out how to upload the screenshot, if anyone could help out with this, it would be much appreciated. PS: xda says that I have to make at least 10 posts before I can share external links, so I don't know how to make imageshack work here. Or I'll just make the 10 posts somehow.)

I've seen those numbers before, however not sure what they are either.
What type of battery are you seeing.
When I was on stock mra58n I was seeing around 4-5 hours screen on time and about 4-5 days overall time on. I thought that was pretty good. I only lose about 1-3% overnight so I could let it sit for quite awhile untouched and still have a charge.
I am now on PureNexus Android 6.0 ROM and seeing about the same but slightly better battery. I'm seeing 5.5-6 hours screen on time and 6-7 days overall time on.
This is with ElementalX kernel which I highly suggest.
How long have you had the tablet? I just got it on the HTC 40% of sale.
I recently have been having the same problem, as seen here: imgur DOTCOM /a/IMqFW, you can see the "99006" active, right now another has appeared with "99040". I saw these number a week or two ago. I've had my tablet since may or so. I posted on the reddit r/Nexus9 for help, someone suggested that it might be some sort of old application which left a few things behind when it was removed from the device. I don't really know what to think of this.
Hi,
I also observed a drastic battery drain and going to the "battery" section in settings, i found a weird "99040" thing with a black android robot icon, draining 16% of my battery.
I don't know how to remove this and I suspect this is malware or something related.
Does anyone know how I can remove that sh**** ???
Best regards.

Massive screen-off battery drain with all ROMs

Hello everybody,
about two months ago, I had an issue with my installed ROM on my Redmi Note 2 Prime (I think it was this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3288916 ). I decided to try out another ROM so I installled Bule's Mokee ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/red...nt/rom-cm-12-1-mokee-bule-mokee-blue-t3328382 ). After a few days with this ROM I recognized a big battery drain while screen off so I installed BetterBatteryStats to get some more informations. It told me that about 50-75% of the time my CPU was running at 800mhz instead of deepsleep (at a normal day with about 1-2h of Screen-On-Time). It didn't look to me like something is creating a wakelock though (but maybe I am just unable to see this). I tried the next ROM: Daniel Pinto's CM12.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/rom-unofficial-t3310551) and again the same issue! I tried a full wipe of my internal storage, did not install xposed and did not install any titanium backup. The battery drain didn't go away. So i flashed another ROM: SlimMIUI V7.1.3.0 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/rom-slimmiui-dev-stable-t3296594 ) and suddenly there was no more screen off battery drain! This went well for about three weeks and now I am facing the old problem again! Please tell me what I am doing wrong since I don't believe it's a ROM-related issue.
I installed these apps (according to MIUI):
9gag
AdAway
Android System WebView
Antutu 3DBench
Antutu Benchmark
AquaMail
BetterBatteryStats
BikeComputer
Burning Series
Chrome
DB Navigator
Dropbox
ES Datei Explorer
Google Play Store
Google Play-Dienste
Google-Tastatur
Greenify (wasn't installed before SlimMIUI)
GuitarTuna
Hacker's Keyboard
Hearthstone
irplus
Maps
Messenger
MX Player
mydealz
No-Frills CPU Control
Nova Launcher
Open Camera
PaderSprinter
QuickPic
scondoo
SleepTimer
Spotify
SuperSU
Telegram
TeslaUnread
Titanium Backup
Twitch
Unified Remote Control
Wakelock Detector Free
WhatsApp
Youtube
What I have tried so far:
- changing ROM (clean flash)
- not installing xposed
- not using old backups
- changing the battery
- using airplane mode
Also, I wonder why there are these gaps in the battery history since I didn't reboot yesterday...but these gaps don't appear every day.
Please help me to fix this really annoying problem and make my RN2 great again!
Thanks,
Kooneybert
The biggest drain comes from all the Xiaomi bloat. Read this thread for details on how to reduce the bloat. In my experience, the second main culprit is WhatsApp. I've had to stop it from giving sound notifications (or even vibrating) when messages come in. Now, I have between 90%-95% deep sleep on idle. Basically, anything that turns on audio could be a problem, because sometimes audio doesn't go off afterwards.
You might want to try GSAM Battery Monitor for more information about what is eating up your battery.

Thx for your reply! The problem is not MIUI-exclusive. CM 12.1 from Daniel Pinto is pretty slim but gave the same result (from the first day on).
Whatsapp can't be the only problem since all my friends use it and nobody have this problem (some of them also even have a RN2). Also, my phone is in silent mode almost all the time so no app is allowed to make noise or vibrate.
I just installed GSAM Battery Monitor but I don't know how to use the app/read the provided data. I could use some help there, too.

You can only be sure if you have a really skinny ROM whereby all the unnecessary Xiaomi stuff has been removed. There are all sorts of things going on in the background - including things embedded in the boot image.
There are also possibly optimisation issues with the kernel. All the ROMs seem to depend on the same binary kernels, since there is no GPL release of the kernel source code. You might want to try one of the skinny boot images by @jajk
As for GSAM, the best to learn is by trial and error (tip: tap on everything visible to see where it leads to, and what information it gives you).

...on all three ROMs? Only for me? With this effect? On some days, it reduces my battery by 50-80%! Hard to believe it is not a bug. Also, SlimMIUI has reduced Xiaomi-Stuff, Daniel Pinto's CM 12.1 looked even more clean to me.

Aren't there different kernels out there for the RN2? Bule's Mokee-ROM uses a modified kernel e.g. Does every ROM come with a certain kernel or may it be applied from the ROM before? So maybe I am still using the kernel from Bule's Rom with my MIUI?

This will help me to read the information but it won't help to understand them, too. What do you think about this:
Kernels: You can't compile a custom kernel without the Xiaomi kernel source code. All you are left with is tinkering with ramdisk in the boot image

...is this normal? The Kernel is the biggest battery sucker on my tablet aswell (which still has great battery). What do you think about the 8,5h of wakelock time produced by the kernel? If this is the problem, what can I do to solve it?

A "screen awake" of approximately 50% seems to me to be highly excessive (at least, if the phone was mostly idle). In nearly 12 hours, I have a screen awake of 55 minutes - so 8 hours in 15 hours seems strange. How exactly were you using your phone during this 15 hour period?
Perhaps the custom boot images by @jajk might help (see the first link in http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/general/roll-skinny-miui-t3309873). I am currently on v714-15 of the custom boot image.
Sounds like you may be having issues similar to what I was dealing with not too long ago, but my 'solution' was to install Bule's Mokee (still don't know why this ROM worked where so many others failed). Daniel's CM 12.1 and Xiaomi.eu were both giving me significant drain with and without the screen on to the point where I was sometimes finishing the day with an hour and a half of screen on time and ~20% battery. Now I'm getting up to double that.
One thing I can recommend is using MiFlash/Fastboot to do a total reset from scratch. Didn't really work for me, but you may be different.
Other than that, although it's tedious, you may have to install 1-3 apps per day after a fresh install to see if your battery holds at first and then dies sometime after installing certain culprits. It takes forever, but at least this helped me when I moved to Mokee to make sure that it wasn't any of my 'vital' apps that were causing me issues.
Best of luck!
Funny thing that the Mokee-Rom did SOLVE your problem. In my eyes this Rom was the beginning of my problems.

What is the difference to using TWRP?
I will try the Mokee-Rom tomorrow. Since I never used MiFlash/Fastboot before I won't use it until you tell me that there is a difference compared to doing a full wipe with TWRP.
I tried flashing the Mokee-Rom again but the problems go on. I installed very few apps and the battery is still very bad. Today I had 18 minutes of SOT and though I lost 14% in a few hours. This time it was caused by Whatsapp:
It always seems that some apps just don't like to stop doing something but it's random which app is the problem.
I am totally running out of ideas so please help me guys!
I'm on Mokee and satisfied with battery, this rom have less problems than other (for me). First of all i have installed MobileRadioActiveFix with xposed, then SmartNetwork to turn off wifi while my screen is off. I've got few other things but right now i've got over 4h SOT so it is not bad score.
i have the same problem! it happens with flashing severals ROMs (mokee by bule?) and starts battery drain with all ROM, it never goes... is not the battery, the cable or the rom..... i dont know im disperate... the sot changed from 4-4.5 h to 2-2.5 h... with all ROM, please help us and sorry for my bad english
Well i had situation that my SOT suddenly got down but i was still on march rom. After update to latest version without wipe it is ok right now.
Have you tried with wiping all with internal memory? Maybe something is there still and that is making a problem.
Another thing that came to my mind: have you changed build.prop and have copy of it? If so, delete it. I had some problems becuase of that.

every rom i have flashed was a clean install (full wipe of internal) after latest miui update, when the phone shut down at 0%, i put off the battery for 10 min, after i put back and the phone was at 19%!! now is on charge... maybe the problem is solved.. i will post if it is solved (sorry for my bad english)
I had that problem with earlier phone and it drived me crazy. I was not able to find what was the cause unfortunatelly. Phone was given to service point to install branded rom (it was not available for public). Right now i do not have problems like that, if i have some i'm able to find solution somehow. Although what i wrote helped me when i saw SOT problem.

Not that I know of. I`m facing the same issues like you here.
You can try:
-discharging until the phone shuts off
-charge it in OFF mode until its full
-disconnect charger, put battery out and in again
-connect charger, charge it to 100% again...
repeat until it shows 100% when connecting the charger.
For some ppl this seems to work.
Please let me know if you find out something!
There are lots of ppl out there with exact the same issue!
BR
EDIT: Installed PSYROM V3 for testing purpose right now. Lets see how it does with skynet and a freshly calibrated Battery with the internal calibration tool of the rom. I`ll give feedback on monday.
Update to my issue:
-I did a full wipe (including internal memory)
-Installed PSY ROM V3.0 and Skynet
-Wiped cache/dalvic
-Startet the phone, installed my apps etc
-Charged it to 100%, waited 20 more minutes
-Did the Battery calibration with the internal calibration tool (everything is described in psy mans thread)
-Did a reboot
So far there is no Battery Drain, after the (long) reboot, wich took around 5-10min because miui is optimizing apps etc the phone came up with 97% and stayed there for almost an hour now.
I´ll give you guys feedback next week. Hopefully we get this sorted out.
You can try Angels & demons ROM v8.0 it is providing me with great battery life, so much better than stock or stable version of MIUI. I use Gsam battery monitor, and I have not faced that issue so far.

Massive Battery drain and crazy wakelocks on H850 aka the insomniac phone

Hey everybody
So I've been losing 30%+ a night (6-7 hours) since I got my G5 (H850) a few weeks ago and it's really getting to me.
On stock Nougat my phone would just about get through the work day (barely being used, bit of twitter and some whatsapp) and after trawling the internet for answers found a lot of people complaining that LG's Nougat update had slaughtered their battery life. So I decided to root and install a custom ROM (RR 5.8.3) instead to see if that would fix the problem. I've been installing custom ROMs, rooting and fixing android issues etc since my first Galaxy S1 so was pretty confident I could fix whatever problem I found from the knowledge on these forums and elsewhere on the internet.
Turns out I was very, very wrong.
I've found out my phone is a total insomniac. It will NOT SLEEP. EVER. Light doze, sure. But not a good old fashioned kip. Literally always wide awake. Have a look at the wakelock detector screengrab - I've never seen anything like it on any phone. 94% awake with seemingly every app just doing as it pleases.
"Anx_wlock" seems to be the main culprit, but I can't find any info on it. I've tried changing kernel, done 2 or 3 factory resets with no success at improving it. Tried turning off location, turning off wifi. Nothing makes any difference. PowerManagerService.Wakelocks comes in a close second, and I've turned off NFC in RR's inbuilt wakelock blocker as I'd read that could be an issue in 7.x.
I have scoured the forums for any solution but now I either have to consult the collective hive mind or just accept ****ty battery life forever.
Luckily I have 2 batteries - but this drain just seems crazy and I would dearly love to fix it! Can any of you wonderful people help a brother out and help my phone get some much needed rest?
Any help or suggestions very much appreciated
Cheers

Can you go back to stock marshallow (maybe using lg flash tool?) or is antirollback preventing this? If xposed is out for nougat, you can try force doze, which should help with standby. Maybe flashing a custom kernel might help?

Thanks for the response! I've yet to try going back to Marshmallow (my H850 came with Nougat pre-installed) but will give that a go next. No xposed for Nougat yet, sadly, so no Amplify either to force doze. Although the phone seems to doze okay, it just doesn't sleep.
I installed Fulmics last night (having already tried SpeedyKernel on RR) and I still have exactly the same issue. 0 seconds deep sleep and my battery died overnight. 100% to off in under 8 hours while I slept. So the problem has now been consistent across 3 kernels.
Whatever this bastard "anx_wlock" is, it seems to carry across different kernel/rom flashes as it's there again in better battery stats at 100% wakelock. Any ideas how I can track down what this is? Doesn't seem to be related to any process and no info about it on the web.
As always any help appreciated!

Sorry, im not sure how to track it. Im assuming that when you flashed the custom rom, you cleared the data, system, and caches?
Same thing on my lg g5 ls992 unlocked. 80% battery drain in 10 hours while I was asleep. Got this phone a few days ago, this really disappoints me. According to betterbatterystats anx_wlock is draining it. Hoping for a solution...
i am also getting too low battery life in stock 7.0
Try this, it will solve your problem.
1) Remove your Google account
2) Wipe Play Services, Google, and Play Store data
3) If rooted, find an app which can clear cache and dalvik or use TWRP, if not then send ADB commands
4) Reboot
5) Add your Google account back again

Hi, yes - wiped everything as normal with every flash. Haven't had time to try and fix this with a rollback to stock MM yet. Looking increasingly like the last viable option, unless this wakelock blocker gets ported to the G5...
Did u freshly install your apps from the Playstore or did you restore them from a Backup? How does it behave with only the stock apps installed?
Ofc it doesnt make it easier being on a custom rom and kernel.

Hey there, cheers for getting involved!
From the moment I got it the batteries (I have 2) were both draining far faster than I expected. That was stock only for at least the first few hours (I had to drive home before I could set it up but had it switched on in the car), and I think it lost about 4-5% in the hour it took me to get back across London.
I got this phone to replace a Nexus 5x that took a swim. The battery life on that phone was nothing to write home about, but from reviews I'd read I expected far better from the G5. It's actually proving to be significantly worse. I should add that I never have 100s of apps installed. Bluemail, Whatsapp, Dark Sky, Amazon, eBay, Twitter, Player FM, Keep, Citymapper and Waze is pretty much it (and subsequently all the wakelock detectors and battery stats, but that's only been since I've noticed the problem). And none of these seem to be the reason for the wakelock.
When I first got the phone I couldn't restore from Google backup for some reason (didn't come up as an option) - so I installed everything fresh. Battery was bad then.
Full factory reset to unlock bootloader and install twrp, allowed backup to replace apps. Same problem.
Wiped System, Data, Caches & Installed RR - fresh installed apps (as I'd read this could be a problem). Same problem. Had a look in their onboard system wakelock blocker but couldn't find anything reference "anx_wlock".
Wiped System, Data, Caches & Installed Fulmics - fresh installed apps again. Same problem.
I'm absolutely stumped. I've also been tweeting at LG UK with better battery stats about this "anx_wlock" problem to see if it's a known issue to them. So far getting resoundingly ignored.
P.S. Yes Vulfpeck.

From your post I cant tell if you tried it 100% stock. I dont know citymapper but waze should be continuously scanning for location. If i was you, i would factory reset without installing any apps and see if the problem still persists (or maybe at least uninstalling waze and citymapper).
the bad battery after your first start after unboxing it doesnt count as the phone is building up caches and doing other stuff
cheers,
eric

Hmm, I really wouldn't try LG UK; I had a half hour debate with their customer service manager on why monthly security updates should be regular but they insisted nothing will come out... next month the update comes through.
I still think you should try just running barebones for a day; maybe allow for WhatsApp but do not install anything else. I have an issue with the G5 too with standby times but to a lesser extent (I have had 30% drops over 11hrs when the phone was on flight mode...).
Also, I'm assuming that they will known that you've unlocked your bootloader so you can't get your phone exchanged via LG?
Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk
I live in Ukraine, I took the phone to the repair service. They told me that the phone is not properly activated (using HiddenMenuCall) and because of that it is constantly trying to connect to Sprint servers to activate the device. Without unlocked bootloader it is impossible to do anything. That's their version. Maybe they are right about my device
lol, i have 2% battery drian when i sleep 8hours
i use greenify, recently (only running apps set), airfrozen, gltools, l speed, servicely
i can send someone titanium made backups of this free apps with data for Resurrection Remix 5.8.3 with OMS 07.18.2017 pm me if someone want
How I solved my battery issues
I had massive and unusual battery drain issues like described in this thread. After much reading and detective work, I’ll describe my situation and what worked for me.
Bought unlocked LG G5 RS988 to replace my LG G4
The phone arrived with Android 6 installed. Immediately upgraded to the latest Android 7 security patch
Transferred my apps and settings over from my LG G4 to the G5 using LG Backup to wirelessly transfer between the 2 phones
After G5 was set up the battery life (in Doze while not using the phone) was great. It might drop 2 – 3% overnight on Wi-Fi
After a few days the battery would drop between 5-12% per hour while in doze. There were no rogue apps running in the background. The main culprit was Android OS and Phone Idle…
Rooted the phone and tried every battery saving setting I could find and used Greenify and CPU throttling as well. This resulted in no improvement.
I had a second RS988 I could test (long story). Followed the same steps as listed in 1-4 but again after a day or so the battery life would crap out.
Took the rooted phone and downgraded to Android 6. Reinstalled each app from the Google Play Store (did not use the LG backup as in #3 above). Made recommended battery settings changes in the Android OS and installed Greenify. Did not make any other changes (e.g. CPU throttling)
Now after 2 weeks overnight my battery drops between 1 – 3 % per night. This is the performance I expected.
In a nutshell – not using a LG backup file and installing everything fresh solved my battery issues.
I’m going to wait another week and then reinstall Android 7 to see if that makes a difference. I will update this post with my results.
Update
After a few weeks on Marshmallow software version RS98811d and getting good / expected battery life, I decided to upgrade to RS98821d (Android 7 with latest security update). The battery drain I originally described returned even after a complete wipe and reinstall of all my apps. Kept the configuration for about a week hoping for an improvement in battery life but there was none.
Went back to RS98811d and have no plans on upgrading to |Android 7 again with this phone. The smart lock suggestion in the post immediately below did nothing for me.

I'm having the exact same symptoms on the same device. Sadly no information is available online for this kernel wakelock. Will report back if I find any solution
I had / have this issue myself so i had to go back to my oneplus one again ubtil i fixed the drain.
My g5 just refused to go into deep sleep and didnt make a whole day even without touching the phone. Also tried stock rom no apps installed.
What i found out:
After removing my simcard the g5 is deep-sleeping again like it should. It wouldnt do that even when i went into airplane mode.
Maybe my simcard is defective... I'll try it with my wifes sim later and we'll see what happens
Gesendet von meinem LG-H850 mit Tapatalk
Thanks for all the posts everyone. Still no joy on solutions though!
Nchantment - I tried getting a new sim to no avail. Still the same crazy drain.
Just seen that xposed is now available for nougat - has anyone tried nixing anx_wlan with that? (I've never used xposed before but I gather you can get right inside your kernel/os in this way...)
Refuse to believe this is a hardware issue!

Your Phone's battery drained 7% in 33 min screen on. I think its normal.
Its not normal for me
Did you upgrade to Android 13 One UI 5?
I know that since I installed Android 13 OneUI 5, my battery has been draining faster when in standby. Prior to the update, after sleeping for 6 hours my battery drain was between 4 to 5 %. Now it drains more than 10%. I factory reset after I installed the update.

Yes I did update to one ui 5 but I've factory reset it multiple times after following countless battery saving steps and they seemed to have helped a bit but still not as much.
Now I actually have more of a problem with when the phones on its draining fast on my other phone I was using Spotify, WhatsApp, insta and a load more and it wasn't draining my battery as much as it is on this phone I can bearly get a full day with spotify playing music to my Bluetooth headphones, me texting people on WhatsApp, maybe slight gaming, and calling on WhatsApp drains it and that's another compared to my old phone plz help or at least give me your thoughts. Thank you.

Sorry for the late response. Like you I have factory reset several times. I have slimmed down the phone as much as possible of extra stuff (Samsung apps/services that I find useless through ADB) and I have seen slight improvement.
Searching online, it seems that quite a few galaxy device models (S21/S21FE) have reported similar issues. Even the Pixel line has some similar battery issues. I hope that Google and Samsung can release updates to address the problems soon.
Well, android 13 battery drain is because google implemented more "ad targeting system apps" that guess what.....those are harvesting more data from you USING YOUR BATTERY, YOUR CPU, YOUR STORAGE AND YOUR PHONE INTERNET BANDWIDTH. ....one of them is even about their new "topics" ad targeting system....
I cant remember the names but my S21 5G got a bootloop when I disabled all that crapb (google's way to force you to keep them) so I had to return to android 12 to disable the ones there and not get a bootloop. Just return to androod 12 as I did and disable the samsung update apps to avoid being forced to update to 13
Well...I can't believe I actually figured out my battery drain issue and it is stupid.
I noted that I was draining up to 3% or more an hour while sleeping. For 6 weeks I have been trying to figure this out. I suddenly realized Monday that I was seeing around 1% an hour battery drain at work during times I was not using my phone. The only thing different between work and home is that I have wifi turned off at work. Started messing around with some stuff that was wifi related and the issue turned out to be Wifi Calling. It would act crazy when I went into airplane mode then turned off airplane mode. I turned off Wifi Calling on Monday and my battery life is looking great ever since. It is still slightly more drain than android 12 but not enough to qualm over.
Don't know if it is connected to any of your issues, but worth a look. Luckily I get good enough signal at home that wifi calling is not really a concern at this time. Hopefully it will be fixed in future updates but if not I want shed a tear.

TBH...once I figured out that wifi calling was creating my serious battery drain and turned it off, my battery life is very close if not on point with Android 12. But I have leaned my samsung phone down by uninstalling a whole lot of stuff so I would think that it should be slightly better so I can see your point.
