Replacement battery for honor 5x? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

A few months ago, my battery randomly suddenly started to drain about 5 times faster, I looked online for any battery replacements, and I couldn't find any that weren't from really weird sites, so I just gave it a wait, now, there's still nothing, except these, which I'm not sure about;

my 5x literally lasts only like 1-2 hours of small use, i have to bring my 10,000 mah power bank with me at all times, and its getting really annoying, I really don't want to order the batteries above, because they're kinda sketchy (3,900 mah on the first one?? unless its a different backing that you have to screw on to fit it, is this even possible?) I've looked around on a ton of forums, and haven't seen anyone talking about batteries, has nobody ever had to replace them? I find that kind of hard to believe on any phone. Does anyone know a place to buy (preferably oem, but if its a trusted company) replacement batteries for the honor 5x? thanks.
(sorry bout links, i forgot the password and dont have the email of my old xda account, so i cant post them yet)
EDIT: it seems like the battery in the honor 5x is the same as the huawei ascend g7 plus, are they the same or not?

It is safe to take it to customer service and avoid all the hussle

Looks good, thanks for the heads up.
it's a big battery...make the phone bigger but it worth if the life of that battery it is abot 2-3 day because i charged my phone every day with te stock one
Did you see the picture on Ebay? It claims that it is the same size as the OEM battery so you DO NOT need to change the back cover. You use the OEM cover
Hi,
up to now tests showed that no alternate batteries were an improvement if they fit in the standard case. Google for the name of the battery perhaps you find something.
Are you on stock firmware? If yes a modified firmware might be a good idea. With froyo I reached more then 70 hours with low usage. The new GB roms will reach this also in a few weeks I think.
Ralf
Thanks for the reply, I did install the latest 2.3.3 Wolfbreaks ROM...
1. Maybe thats why the battery life is short...
2. I did just get this phone...heavy use...may cause the short battery life.
3. My excitement for the phone is another reason battery life is short
Interesting find.
I never used the particular one you found on Ebay, but I have another regular-sized one from China claiming it has 2200mAh capacity.
I hate to burst your bubble, but I have in the past bought and tried many, many replacement batteries for SE, Moto, HTC and other handsets and not single one of them clearly exceeded the capacity of OEM ones. Sure those sellers say theirs have 2200mAh or 2300mAh compared to OEM's 1500mAh they seem a lot better, but in realty they are about the same as the OEM at best. The one I have (they advertised as 2200mAh) for my X10 seems a little bit better than OEM. The 2300mAh one on Ebay, at least, doesn't try to copy the look of OEM, and (from my experience) it usually is a good sign of they are better than self-claimed really cheap OEMs you can find everywhere in Ebay. In the end, long battery life is not a forte of android. It's not like we have symbian devices.
As far as I know, "Mugen" replacement battery seems truly better than OEMs, though I haven't tried them personally. They are not cheap, you know.

Awesome incite and input!!! Thanks Hasei!!!
I think I am going to buy it...!!!
I need more battery experience!!

Symbian battery is PATHETIC. I still have My N97Mini and my N8, alongside my HTC Sensation and SE X10, all heavily tweaked [you can't even tweak symbian that much] and I'll tell you now, its pathetic. Laggy like ****, but the battery wont even last 30 hours in minor usage, and not even 4 hours in hardout. My x10 can last like 4 days in the minimal usage and 10 hours in hardout, but I still carry one extra battery around =]

Just ordered this battery for $34 USD, will post a review when tested in a couple weeks.
I think it will be a good move from my side to search for such a battery. Ebay, i'm coming!
Seriously, the phone saps away power like mad when using Wi-Fi...
guyz i would recommend not to use chinese or fake batteries. They can even blast.
I never used to play with my battery.
BEWARE!!
The stock battery is chinese, and not all that is chinese is horse dung.
(yeah, i thought that i got some fake battery myself, until i searched for the battery photos in the internet )

but that's original!!
i've been using the 3200 mAh battery from ebay as my x10 battery for the past 2 months or so. It's really good if you don't mind the bulk, i can play psx games on my phone for about 8 hours and be left with 60% of my battery. if i don't use my phone much (just texting occasionally) it lasts about 2-4 days. So far no signs of overheating/blowing up .
(edit: used to be running on demand governor, recently switched to smartass. Battery seems to be doing even better)

is it this battery:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260836802...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_2817wt_905,or this 1:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-BATTE...ultDomain_3&hash=item336850790f#ht_1315wt_905
it's a 3200 battery, i'll try pming you the link, it won't let me post it.
If it sounds too incredible, it probably is...
Give it a thought: If the manufacturer of the original batteries would be able to squeeze a few extra hundreds milliamps into the battery without risking the battery security, don't you think they would have from the beginning?
There is always one or more downsides with these "better" batteries:
1: They're fake. in fact, it's only a 1700 mAh battery with a 2200 mAh sticker on it. Placebo warning here! Those reviews from other "customers"? Problably the manufacturer themselves, or payed "customers".
2: They're bigger, so they do need a different cover. These battery claims can be true, more capacity = larger battery. Something has to give in. (In this case: Size), right?
These bigger batteries are okay, as bigger battery means more capacity. You have to give up the slim size here.
3: They removed some or all security features in order to allow "overcharging". That way they can squeeze in a few more mAh in the battery.
The risk of overheating is very real here. There have been cases where such "no security" batteries have exploded, and in some cases even catching fire... while still in the owners pocket. Ouch! That gotta hurt alot.
Here is a video on overcharging a Lithium Ion battery, but it isn't far from what can happen to a Lithium Polymer battery without the security:

[Q] Will newpower99 Battery last longer with Root?

I feel pretty bad since Ive been bouncing around this forum asking questions about the root process for my friends Nook Tablet like there's no tomorrow. But Unfortunately I have yet another question about the Nook Tablet. I've done the Rooting process thanks in large, if not completely, to digixmax. But one thing Ive noticed is that the battery seems to die pretty quickly. Unfortunately I didnt take a moment to play with it before rooting, so I don't know if the battery was just getting old, or if it's because how much the CM11 Kitkat Rom is taxing the Nook Tablet. Either way, I explained to my friend that the battery may not last as long because the Nook Tablet probably wasn't exactly design to have all the features/functions of KitKit. She looked into battery option yesterday and cam back with this:
http://www.newpower99.com/Barnes_No...cement_Kit_p/barnes and noble nook tablet.htm
Does anyone know if the NewPower99 batteries are any good? And would it power the Tablet longer than the current factory battery?

I realize this is a old post but I thought I would chime in on it. I have done a lot of research lately as I have a battery issue. Well it is a problem with phantom touches when the battery gets to 23% or so. From all I have read this is a battery issue. At first I was thinking it needed to be calibrated. However after digging though all the information, most battery calibration methods just delete the battery stats. This apparently is only data since the last time the device was charged, and not long term information that affects calibration (confirmed by a Google engineer). I did read about one other file to delete in \rom max#### if I remember correctly, and that might do it. I may try that soon.
The only other method I saw was to charge it full, run it down till it shuts down, charge it till full, turn it on and let it sit ON for 30 minutes (set screen shut down to 30 minutes), then plug it in to charge full. With some Android devices this can recalibrate the battery (which makes sense), but not sure if it will work on a NT or not. I am going to try it though.
But back to the battery, I did like the look of it and the video they did. I may purchase one from them if all of the above methods don't work. Someone else got a 3rd party battery from another company and said it worked well http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general/changed-battery-nook-tablet-t2829771 it is the same capacity which IS less than a original NT battery (3200 vs original NT at 4000) so you won't get the same runtime that you would with a brand new NT. That said all LI-ion batteries degrade with age, so even if you happened to find a new unopened device, the battery would not quite be the same as when it was released. Also while you can get batteries from say Ebay, you do not know how many cycles or life is left in them. Could be a few days, a few months or years. Even if they say 80% of the capacity is left in them, that is approximately what you will get with one of the new batteries anyway.
The one company is cheaper than the other (20 from batteryship.com vs $40 from newPower99) and they are the same capacity so I am not sure which one you would want to go with. As far as presentation goes, Power99 wins with their nice video on you tube and the look of the battery itself. Both seem to include the two tools necessary to do the battery replacement. So again up to you which way you want to go. Both have 1 year warranty. One thing about newpower99 they will install it for you for $60 http://www.newpower99.com/Battery_Replacement_Service_for_Nook_Tablet_p/nook-tablet-pbr.htm I can't vouch how well they do but if someone is really worried about doing it, then I would say let them do it instead.
Personally though I would just do it myself. But I did just find this on the newpower site "•Opening an electronic device and replacing the battery does entail risks to the functionality of the unit. NewPower99.com does not guarantee the overall functionality of your unit after battery replacement service. You acknowledge these risks and understand that NewPower99.com's maximum liability is limited to the cost of the battery replacement service." Which doesn't instill confidence in sending it to them lol.

3700mAh battery in your G5

So no one who owns a G5 has at least tried one of these supposed bigger batteries??
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3700mAh-Hig...763115?hash=item41ad621f2b:g:QeEAAOSwM4xXYSB0
Would be interesting to see what kind of performance this battery really gives.....
Would be a little nervous to try it because I played full price for mine. Hopefully someone will try it and respond.

i tried a 3200mah chinese battery and it gave about 1hr sot plus than original one which was used (and abused) for about 4 months.. so maybe they just have similar capacities

There are some pretty decent receptions of the brand, and then a couple not so decent, but in general it looks more positive than negative and so far no catastrophic failures to note.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/525412-best4power-4500mah-extended-battery-impressions.html
https://www.amazon.com/Best4Power-Extended-Straight-Tracfone-SCH-S738C/product-reviews/B00Q2PL222
It may tickle you a bit wrong to know Best4Power no longer sells anything on Amazon. But I hope someone steps up to be our Guinea pig - there will be much thanks for the brave soul first to take the plunge and post their findings here.
I've got one similar to this, I ordered from Amazon, well actually a site called Amazon review trader where I got a promotion code for the battery. It's a 3500mAh battery by the description, yet the same physical size as the original. What I can say about it is any time you reboot the phone and the battery is at 100% you are greeted with an invalid battery warning and the phone powers down. The only way to get it to remain on its trying to reboot it a few times and once it uses a couple percentages of the battery it's fine. I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one but it also does the same so not sure.
The battery appears identical in size, feel and shape to the original one, just wrapped differently. The first day of use I ended with over 4hrs screen time but I was in an area with little to no signal, the next day I was home most the day and got 6 and a half hours screen time. I literally ran the phone till it was at 2% then powered down and replaced the battery. I use the phone for browsing, emails, text and phone calls, location is generally set to wireless network etc.
The question on if I would buy another..I don't think so, reason being is the invalid battery warning message, batteries are just not something to play with, the actual battery tho outside of the rebooting issue stated does work fine and seems to last a bit longer when compared to the stock one.

Replacement battery

I searched the forums and someone posted once before about a replacement battery, but never got an actual reply. I have a moto x force in UK.
Long story cut short, I took it on a plane and it went down hill and died. Did many many tests and tweaks, definite battery.
I have searched the net and can find x-longer replacement fb55 batteries, but these are rubbish batteries I have found and only 3540 mah. I found this one in China (very dubious) but thought what the hell, my moto is a paperweight anyway.
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32736294085.html#autostay
I am awaiting its trip very slowly around the world to find out what rubbish I have bought, but in the meantime has anyone else needed to replace their battery and if so where did they get theirs?
Oh I tried Motorola but as I unlocked my bootloader they won't repair for money as they don't touch unlocked phones. Guessed warranty was void but never realised they would not even help for money. They also won't supply batteries to the public. Their only advice was to take it to a "offline store" whatever that is...

You need to find some shop, where they sell and fix smartphones, very possible that they can do that for You way cheeper as Lenovo/Motorola. You need look around, ask friend on Facebook, etc.
Droid turbo 2 batt
search US ebay store there is one original battery available (used), with international shipping.
Sorry, don't have one
Do you have access to Google? Just Enter Turbo 2 battery - many choices. eBay, Amazon, all 3900 mah
Battery part number is FB55. When ordering off AliExpress, ePacket is your best shipping option. It's EMS priority for $5 or less, in most cases. Turkey post is a few days slower, but also very good. Standard shipping takes up to six months. A messenger has to swim those over.
I ordered a couple of these batteries from AliExpress as well. Also waiting. Some story by shippers about the holiday season doubling turnaround times. 5 days to get to Canada, then two weeks to process and deliver.
All reviews I found stated that the battery worked well. We'll see.
Hi all,
I've a Moto X Force EU xt1580 and a dead battery (phone shutting down with battery error logo when power is less than 50% and it's cold weather…)
I want to change the battery, but FB55 seems to be fore xt1581 or xt1585 models. Is it the same for xt1580 ?
Both Amazon and AliExpress dont have official battery. Is someone have experiences with Chinese batteries ? Some says that it's 4000mAh. is it real ?
Thanks all !
XT1580 (Global), XT1581 (China), and XT1585 (Verizon United States) are different versions of the same phone. They all share the same parts and accessories. You can give this one a try:
http://s.aliexpress.com/niUNjU3U?fromSns
The proper battery should give you capacities of 3550 (typical)/3760 (maximum), which is the OEM spec. I recommend avoiding any batteries that claim a higher capacity than I listed.

Percentage of charge after battery change

Hello,
I have two Redmi Note 4X phones in the family (in the global version, both updated to MIUI 10).
I replaced batteries in both.
I tried batteries from two different sources, in both cases original (according to labels and assurances of sellers), two batteries from March 2019, from a second source from April 2019.
Both phones have the same problem, regardless of which new battery is used:
- charging up to e.g. 85 percent and stop, after several disconnections and connecting for charging, in a dozen or so seconds - charging to 100 percent and the green lamp goes out (which after reaching 90 is lit green, at 100 percent goes out, which is correct)
(right now the phone is connected for 3 hours and is stuck on 96 percent)
- discharging from 100 to 80 percent fast, without gsm and wi-fi networks in 2 hours, from 80 to 40 percent a few days, from 40-30 percent to zero again in a few hours (similar behavior with gsm and wifi, but faster)
- when trying to solidly discharge the battery, stop charging at 4-5 percent (such advice, complete discharge found in the network)
- factory reset (wipe) has changed nothing on one phone or the other on any of the new batteries
Old batteries on both phones show correct battery status, charge and discharge normally.
I assumed that since somewhere in the system sits some record learned from an old battery, then a factory reset will delete it, but no. It did not.
Can rooted phone do more about this topic? I don't want to root if there is only a vague chance of resolving the problem.
I will be grateful for your help, best regards.
Ps. Since I used 2 different Redmi Notes and 4 new batteries (different sources) I think I may assume, that the problem is common.

The problem is the batteries are of low quality. There are no originals batteries on the market as far as i know, maybe in past but right now i highly doubt that. They sell them as originals but most of them, if not all of them are third party batteries from other companies.I had a similar experience with my old mi2s.Where did you get them if i may ask?

Well there is also this one
https://greencell.global/en/xiaomi/2435-battery-bn43-for-xiaomi-redmi-note-4x.html
Seems pretty legit but haven't tried it.
As for the "original" batteries i'm pretty sure they are made by dragon-tt and witrigs

So it says the batteries are original, disassembled from mobile phones. Do I understand that right? If so, I do not get it why they work like this.
Greencells are also available here, same price. I am wondering if I should try one of these. Maybe another waste of money...

In other words refurbished... So it's kinda of a lottery what you'll get and most probably you'll end with a problematic one which behaves like the ones you got.
About greencell i don't know, maybe it's a good company, but for me not worth the risk.I don't intend to keep the phone more than one year so i'll better save the money for a better new one.

Thank you for your interest, research and information.
I guess the refurbished were the problematic ones, which may have been replaced in authorized services as ones not working correctly, now they get to be selled again... Good for someone with bricked battery.Mine is ok,just 2 years old already,so I do not need a new one desperately.
And I guess it would be kind of not being beneficial for a manufacturer like Xiaomi to sell new baterries rather than new phones,as in my Redmi Note 4 replacing the battery isn't that hard, even though it made me use some tools and patience.
Best regards!

No problem man, had made most of the research already for myself some time ago.I guess none of the manufacturers are willing to sell new batteries nowadays, it's something we have to accept...
