Cannot unlock phone - No keyboard displayed on PIN screen - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I got a new LG G5 two days ago. I already unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device which worked great. I then restored my apps using Titanium Backup and removed some bloat apps, also using TB (stuff like LG Health and LG Backup). I restarted the phone today and suddenly when I tried to enter the PIN to boot it up again, it shows the "Enter PIN to unlock" screen but displays no keyboard. Anyone have any idea what I could do short of a factory reset?
TIA
SoWhy

Maybe you removed something related to the keyboard? In any case, if the problem is born after removing some apps the only solution is to flash the firmware through lgup, or flash a Custom rom through the twrp.
Sent from my LG G5 using XDA Labs

I tried to manually restore anything I removed using sideload flashing of TB generated files, but no avail. Luckily I had a TWRP backup made before changing anything and flashing system fixes it (while remembering all my settings which are apparently now stored in data)

[Q] Optimus T stops functioning after rooting

I recently purchased an Optimus T and rooted it with z4root and then installed Titanium Backup to delete some of the preinstalled apps, like the Pacman Demo.
As I was removing each app, (~5 at this point) the Home button suddenly stopped working, followed by total phone death. Even after factory reset, when I was trying to access the phone, eventually I was shown a "... setup.exe stopped responding..." (or something like that) message and my phone just stayed stuck on the booting screen (android) every time I restart (w/o entering factory reset).
Does anyone have any ideas, or know which apps can prevent the phone from booting properly? A list of safe apps to delete would be helpful too. I thought I was pretty cautious with removing only non essential apps, but it seem bricked. Thanks again!

About list off apps, I have to agree. Even it there is litle problem with dependencies, some minimum describe of these issue will be great!!
So, about your problem - I think, that you will have to download original ROM and do flashing with KDZ_FW_UPdater. (search on xda for more information).
But definitely, if it's possible I would try to install custom recovery throw adb shell (android SDK tools) and do backup of system for possibility to recovery or saving at least few data, and after try wipe and install one of custom ROM.
This happened to me after I tried deleting preinstalled apps on my Optimus One... Sent it in for repairs since it just stopped working. The tech guy said he did a "software update" and everything is good as new (except for the LGMITS error once in a while)
They didn't even bother trying to fix mine. They just told me to send it in and gave me a replacement.
So I finally figured out what I did wrong - basically when I was doing the deleting, I accidentally deleted the LG Home app, which effectively deactivated my (duh) home button and effectively stopped everything from functioning properly. For some reason I thought it was just a simple link from my phone directly to the LG website, as would happen with new PCs very often. Well... won't be doing THAT again.
However, my web2go button isn't working. I have to force quit every time I try to click on it. Can I just get rid of it or will it just give me more trouble later on?
At least you knew what went wrong with yours... I was just erasing CarHome and Layar and the LG App Adviser among other things i wont be using like Twitter and Latitude.
And they even gave you a new one x__x I had to wait 5 days before everything was good as new. After the first fix, USB debugging and mass storage stopped working so I sent it in for another "software update"...

[Q] Nexus 5 Bootloop, Stock ROM and Bootloader, possible to recover data?

I received a replacement Nexus 5 after the screen on my first one was flickering. Since I had to move all of my files over anyway, I used CF-Auto-Root to unlock the bootloader and root the new phone. I then used BootUnlocker to relock it. I did that last week, and everything was fine. Earlier today, I installed Tasker with Secure Settings, to disable Pattern Lock while I'm at home. While I was out, I turned my phone off, and when I tried to turn it back on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I restarted the phone numerous times after unlocking and relocking the bootloader, without any issues. The only difference between restarting it this time and last time was Tasker and Secure Settings. I should be able to recover the phone by doing a factory data reset from Recovery Mode, but before I do that, is there any way to recover my files? Specifically my SMS and MMS messages? Thanks.

I messed up, please help

Long story short i deleted my data/app file(accidentaly). Sony xperia S android 4.2.1 i think... Dont ask how that happened. So right after i deleted it by mistake everything started crashing many apps stopped working. Immediatly after doing that i restored a restore point and rebooted. As you would expect my phone is password protected, but when i klick the password slot id doesnt show the keyboard nor the option to change keyboard because i was using swift key keyboard. Now i cannot enter my phone, so i think that i should do s factory reset but i cant do that. I know that i saw a factory reset option on the sony software updater on my pc because i wanted to update my phone. Also when i tried to root my phone i could not flash it some broken driver issue (was not able to fix) so i finally rooted it with the root tool kit. Well please help me with this. Also i assume that the restore point didnt work. Please help :crying: :crying:
Hmm. So you deleted your /data/app folder and most of the apps are gone? Whoops! lol And you are rooted. Do you have a custom recovery? I'm assuming so since you said you tried to restore a backup, is that correct? It would probably just be easiest to factory reset in recovery as that will remove the password and then when it boots, you can restore the keyboard app. Other option is trying to remove the password in recovery (has to be custom) with adb commands as you won't be able to while booted due to the password.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620456 - and this does not work for every device, obviously.

Well the thing is that im not near a pc for the next few days, but i have a tablet which has the device input to usb output cable. So i was wondering if theres a app that turns my android tablet into a keyboard for my phone. Ive been looking but only found bluetooth and wireles keyboard wich wont do me any good since my phone is locked. Also is there an app that could hack my phone since its rooted.
Pretty sure you're out of luck without the PC.

[Q] How to recover LG l70 D320N?

I rooted my LG L70 D320N and removed some bloatware and stuff like gallery, memo, calendar that came pre-installed. I've been happily using it for days, but since I restarted it few hours ago I receive a message saying "The phone has stopped" every few seconds and the network restarts, so the phone is unusable. I didn't remove any system files, so I have no idea what could be the problem. I tried factory reset hard reset. And I don't have any backup.
Is there a way to recover it?
I found the stock ROM for my phone and flashed it using the tutorial linked bellow. Everything looks original and works correctly. If I find something sketchy, I'll update this topic.

Help recovering from lost EFS partition

Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone is able to point me in the right direction.
I have an S9 Plus with TWRP installed and DevBase v5.9 as the ROM. I have made two backups using TWRP, one from when I first got the phone and a more recent one (within the last week).
When I first got the phone I removed a lot of the bloatware that came with it (Samsung stuff and other junk). After using the phone for a while I realized I needed to keep a couple of the Samsung apps, mostly Samsung Themes and Galaxy Apps (to keep other Samsung Apps up to date). This is where the problems first began.
I restored the backup I made when I first got the phone because I didn't remove any of the bloatware. The backup restored without any problems, I started updating apps, getting it back to the way I had it and noticed I didn't have any reception. I tried to make a phone call and it displayed an error "Not registered on network". I thought something went wrong during the restore, so I tried to restore the phone with the more recent backup I had. That, too, gave me the same message. I checked the IMEI number it was displaying 0000000000000/01. Definitely not my IMEI.
I tried my SIM card in another phone and it worked without any problem. I tried my partners SIM card in my phone and it displayed the same 0000000000000/01 IMEI. I downloaded the latest stock firmware for the phone in an attempt to try and get it back to normal, however, even on stock android it displays 0000000000000/01 IMEI.
So I'm in a sticky situation at the moment. Is there any way to recover from this problem?
