Z2 kernel flashing, in need of assistance. - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, my story begins when installing the latest version of Paranoid Android. Because of stupidity I didn't clean the Dalvik Cache (TWR reminded me to but I forgot) and my device got bricked.
I then flashed the latest version .291 my phone could run because if my carrier thanks to XperiFirm and I wanted to root my 6.0.1 version of Android. Only reason I'm asking for help: Bootloader Unlock-NO.
I tried unlocking it officially and unofficially with Flashtool but my problem is now not caring about it since there are bypasses for the bootloader to flash a version of Android without having to unlock the Bootloader.
So my question is: How can I create a .ftf file from a ROM because I wish to give Paranoid Android a try and if anyone knows how to make that package a .ftf installation please let me know or if you know of any pre-rooted .ftf MM kernel for the Z2 I would be massivelly thankful.
(And yes I have searched every nook and cranny here trying to resolve my issue and yes I know about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775411)

[Q] After downgrade to an older firmware, how to upgrade?

Hi all!
I'm just new to xda and android and liked to do a nandroid backup.
So I read about it and find out, that there isn't any way to do so, without install/flashing/? a Custom Recovery, such like ClockworkMod Recovery, is it?.
So I get ROM Manager from GPlay Store, but it didn't find my phone. Then I downloaded RecoverX from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227) and run it. But this needs root. I think, there isn't any way to use ClockworkMod Recovery without having root, is it?
I try to get root, reading here in that great forum, but it seems, there isn't any way to root my SE Xperia Pro, because it has a Build-Number 4.0.2.A.0.69, and you can only root *.42. There it says, you can flash that firmware, using flashtool (http://flashtool.net). I found a *.42 firmware here: http://dexxmor.de.to/.
So here my main question: After I flashed that firmware and root my phone, how to upgrade to the x.69 one? They all say, that this will be done by "OTA". But my Phone has GB and could have ICS (I didn't upgrade). So when I do so, after that, I would have ICS, right?
Sorry for that n00b question and my bad english
Thanks
PS: Sorry, if i posted in a wrong forum. I didn't found a Pro/Sony General one.

What you are looking for by asking for an update is just making your phone ram hungrier. It would make no use upgrading. Also, after upgrading, by default the root and its advantages will be lost. So it is better to simply keep downgraded, rooted and to mod your phone rather than upgrade it.
Happy to help
Thank you for your fast reply.
You make me unsure, because I always read to upgrade after rooting, but this doesn't make sence of course, if root will be lost.
A last question: What happens, if I won't mod my phone? What happens if I stay with that older firmware?
Kind regards

[Q] Install CM from already rooted phone on 4.4.4

Hello all,
I currently have a Xperia Z2 with this rom installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-envi-rom-stock-beta-t2811710 It's rooted with Android 4.4.4
Now, I want to try Android 5.0 with Cyanogen Mod. But it have a few questions about that.
1) Do I need to unlock my bootloader for this? I'm assuming I do since I install another non-stock version of Android?
2) Is it simply unlocking my phone, and then copying the zip files and then flash them via recovery? Or am I missing something here?
Many thanks!

Did you search? These seem like very very basic questions.
1 - Yes
2 - You also need to wipe data and caches

[Q] Xperia Z2 4.4.4: Root WITHOUT Unlocked Bootloader.

Is there a way to root my Xperia Z2 (4.4.4) without unlock its bootloader?
Or else better, is there a way to back-up the bootloader before the unlock?
I ask because I want to root it without set a custom Rom.
Thanks in advance.
There is. You've got to downgrade to for example 4.4.2, root your phone, create a pre-rooted version of 4.4.4 and then flash that. There is a much more detailed guide around here, so I recommend that you check that out
To back up your ta partition you will need root first.
In stead of creating a rooted rom you can also find some prerooted here in the development forum.
-Use flashtool to downgrade to 4.4.2
-Root and install recovery with one of the available root methods (towelroot for example)
-Use recovery to flash a rooted 4.4.4 zip, recovery (again) and SU (again)
-Reboot
-Test network connection, if 4g is not working, use flashtool to flash a local 4.4.4 baseband
That's all.
I heard that for rooting it's required to have unlocked bootloader. Is that true?
(I have seen the root guide in forum, but I don't think that it mentions the bootloader)
My problem is that I want to upgrade the phone without errors (when sony has updates). I say that because a friend of mine has a rooted Nexus 5 with unlocked bootloader and he can't install the last update. It gives him a bootloop and returns to the previous. This is something I don't want.
Thanks in advance.
Unlucking is not needed.
Official updates should work if you're on a 100% stock rom, but updates are generally available as flashable rooted zip, here in the forums, long before you get an official update available from Sony.
So that should be no problem.
Biggest issue here that people dont search howto root on locked bl, that is possible, search and read then you will have it, example like the installations steps of a modded stock rom

[Q] Installing a custom rom

Hi,
I just want to install a custom rom for my z2 but i'm having a little bit of trouble figuring out how to install it.
I was interested in installing the resurrection remix rom found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3028260
I'm currently on the official 5.0.2 version of android. I upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 through Xperiafirm.
As far as I understand you need to have both root, an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery to install a custom rom. NOTE: I have met none of these requirements.
My problem is I cant find a way to root my z2 on 5.0.2 or unlock the bootloader for that matter.
From what I gather most people upgraded from 4.4.2/4.4.4 using a rooted z2 to a 5.0.2 pre-rooted rom to keep there root permissions.
Does this mean I'll have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 and then do one of the easy root processes then flash the custom rom?
Or is there an easy way to root and unlock my bootloader on my z2 on 5.0.2 so I can flash the custom rom?
Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Since you haven't rooted Lollipop theres no easy root method.
1. Use flashtool and flash any 4.4.2 (17.1.2.A.0.314) from here
2. Then root and install recovery in one step using this guide :
+Make sure you have USB debugging turned ON and plug the phone to your computer.
+Download Z2-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com/?+Download=qh1p4ekeofo9krfbu6maic2np5&randomizer=_mc6cojzeq
+Unpack at C: or somewhere you will remember!
+Navigate to the resulting directory and look for install.bat, double click it to run;
+Select "Installation on Unrooted rom....." option
+Your phone WILL reboot when installation has completed and it will go into the default recovery for the first boot.
+Reboot to system from recovery to allow the installer to clean up after installation (it is safe to skip this step).
3. Once you have recovery installed you will hve to unlock the bootloader. Since unlocking the boot loader will remove your DRM keys you have to back them up first. Use this guide to backup DRM keys and then unlock the bootloader using this (read the whole forum carefully).
4. Since you have unloacked the boot loader you an proceed to flash and rom according to the instructions through the recovery.

Rooting Help Please 5.1.1

Hi Ya'll and Happy New Year,
I need some help in rooting my Z C833. Before I tell you my ordeal here is the system details:
OS 5.1.1
Build 14.6.A.1.236
Bootloader: Unlocked via sony
Now i am not a advanced user when it comes to android stuff, I am still learning. All the talks and guides about rolling back and going to kitkat and flashing and recovering TA partion is kinda making me confused. I have seen many guides, i tried to roll back via flashtools, use king root to acheive root, install dual recovery then flash super user. This is the extent of my knowledge.
When i try to either ftf a pre rooted file to a 5.0.x fw i LOSE ROOT, every single time. Can someone help me out. What am i doing wrong?
For example I roll backed to (C6833_14.5.A.0.270_Customized_HK) installed King root, pushed (ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.8.23-RELEASE.combined) flashed (BETA-SuperSU-v2.49) and then went back to flashtools to ftf (C6833_14.6.A.0.368_Generic Telenor Norway) and i LOSE ROOT (ahhhhhhhhh):silly:
If there is no option for me to update to stock rooted rom, can i install a custom rom with a update fw?
Ideally, stock or custom, i just want to utilize the sound and screen mods on this forum for the z ultra, for that i need custom recovery, for that i need root :S
I know the answer might be very simple, but like i said i m out of ideas.................
Thanks in advance for your help.
anyone???
Flash kitkat ftf, root, flash pre rooted 5.1.1
