[Q] Flashtool or equiv for upgrading X10 on a Mac?

Just wanted to ask a few Q's for a colleague who wants to pop his Android Modding Cherry.....
Is there any way to upgrade the X10 from Android 2.1 to Android 2.3 (officially) on the Mac OSX platform? And also, installing a custom recovery to allow him then to flash custom roms....
Most upgrade options seem to link to using Flashtool which is Windows based (and he would prefer not to have to dual boot to Windows by preference).....

[Q] Update Samsung i7500

Hallo to everyone.
I have Samsung i7500 and I want to update android version from 1.5 to 2.2,but I don't know how to do it and what I need to do that. Please, can someone help me where to find good tutorial and all what I need to update OS.
You will need to root your device, http://www.drakaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=344
install recovery http://www.drakaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=680
And choose the best rom for you .
And install it http://code.google.com/p/gaosp/wiki/PublicBeta
If you want froyo build use gaosp 2 beta 3.
If you want gingerbread use gingerbread nightly build.
Thanks
Thanks. Just installed it. (gingerbread)
It was a hassle though: SDCard wasn't accessible on Windows 7 machine. Worked on XP.
Now googling how to get my market to work.

cm9 on P6200 no network issue

Hi everyone,
I softbricked my galaxy tab 7 p6200 3g singapore while I am installing to ICS with cmw but I managed to save it with hemidall by using hemidall firmware package DXCL1 for honeycomb. It restored back the Samsung stock recovery. I couldn'`t find any stock rom to install back. Therefore my tablet stuck at Odin and recovery mode. So I installed cm9 which ported to p6200 by aorth. It went through with a surprise because I thought that stock recovery can only install stock roms. It was brilliant but can't find network and can't make ph call.
I need a little help here, please.
Thanks
Marius
got on the right track
Well it looks like I got on the right track after I re-flash it the package with heimdall and did a little bit of modification on the petition files
after that I manged to install google app pack which couldn't install with the stock recovery. but still no network yet.
anyone who has the modem img file or something else.. please help me with it.
thanks in advance.
Marius

[Q] new user, root / osx guidance requested

Hello All.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 2S and I use a Macbook with 10.6.8
Relevant info:
Samsung-SGH-I777
Android 4.0.4
I777UCLK3
Kernel: 3.0.15-I777UCLK3-CL1174199
I would like to have root access and use a stable, standard version of Android without all the carrier bloatware. If I were to look for a vanilla, even pure, version of Android that would be compatible with my phone, what is recommended?
Also, I have searched the forums and throughout Google, but there seems to be few ways of rooting this phone using OSX. The posted methods seem out of date or involve other phones. I have tried unsuccessfully tried to use Heimdall, but I could not find a proper guide or support.
If you had my setup, what method would you use to get a decent version of Android onto my phone using OSX?
Thank you.

The stickies have a guide for Macs to root and any of the roms in the dev section would do fine

You would not need OSX to root your phone. You could use Exynos Abuse APK to root and then use Mobile ODIN to flash ICS Kernel(which includes CWM).
After this, you could use MAC/PC to copy the required ROM and gapps to the phone and then flash using CWM.

Exynos Abuse worked like a charm. I could never get the other methods working, for one reason or another.
Phone is now rooted. Thanks for the tip.
Once I get my head wrapped around flashing roms and all the variants, I'll try that.

[Q] Flashing / Downgrade / Upgrade

Hi, I want to ask about upgrade or downgrade os or we know is flashing. I do flashing with odin for device Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) with default os is ICS 4.0.4, I do this because my project requirement is testing application which run in os HoneyComb to JellyBean and I flash to HoneyComb 3.1, and my problem after I flashing again to ICS 4.0.4 with odin, I can't update firmware in setting and via kies, it's show message Your device's current firmware version is no supported to update firmware. Can tell to me how to solve this problem, thanks before
Hi, dear friend!
Try flashing back to STOCK ROM using the application "Odin"... there are plenty of guides out there on how to do this, but if they didn't help you, tell us and we are always here to help
If you want to test your application on different versions of Android OS without this much difficulty, you can try some of the many android emulators for PC...
GOOD LUCK
Download HC firmware from www.sammobile.com and flash via Odin.
