How to change 4g bands in Redmi note 3? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I want to change the bands in Redmi note 3.

Do you mean physically change the bands of the phone? If so, I doubt it can be done, you'll just have to hope you got the right version that supports 4G LTE for either the phone or your phone carrier/provider.
If you mean to ask how to use the 4G network? Did you try to go to Settings and change preferred network type to 4G LTE? see if you get network service working.

[Q] SIII SHV-E210 (korean) on AT&T 4G/LTE

While I was working in Korea, I bought a Galaxy s3 SHV-E210 (Korean Model) cell phone. When I bought, I was told that I would be able to use it over here in the States. AT&T was able to put a sim card and activate it on their network, however I only get 3G. The Sales rep told me that the bands for 4G/LTE are different in Korea than stateside carriers, so I may, or may not pick up 4G/LTE. I've done some research and found that the band in the phone can be changed using certain codes. When I enter *#9090# it brings up a menu, I've tried changing some of the 4G/LTE, 3G options in that menu but I never get 4G. I know how to root and put custom firmware on devices, so if that is something I need to do then I am comfortable with that. Can this phone be changed to get a 4G/LTE signal? are there any more "codes" that I can enter in to get any other options that will help me? has anyone here ever change the band on their phone to work on 4g? Thank you for any and all help.
AT&T uses LTE band 1 for service.
since E210S only supports band 3 and 5, and 3 and 8 for E210K, there's no way to access AT&T LTE network with your device.
It is reported to support band 1 for newer devices like S5 and G3 and AT&T LTE devices might work in Korea since May 2014,
LTE won't be available with Korean S3 in US.

Verizon Note 3 - Stock 4.4.4 - LTE band 4 works AT&T

Dropped my att sim card in, added the APN phone and downloaded lte discover. Says currently connected to LTE on band 4.
Just letting yall know.
Also works on T-Mobile...LTE band 4.
If you want to add additional LTE bands on your Verizon Note 3, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/3g-lte-frequency-nv-items-qualcomm-t2950491
I've done it on the Verizon Note 3, Note 4, Note Edge, and S5... but I'm not sure if's working. I don't know what LTE bands are available in our area. I also need to figure out how to force the phone to connect to a specific LTE band.
Try lte discovery from play store. If that doesn't work you can do the reverse of adding all bands. Remove the ones not needed
LTE Discovery only tells you what LTE band you're on. It doesn't tell what other LTE bands you can connect to and it also doesn't give you the ability to switch to a specific LTE band.

LTE problem

Hi need help please , I have a Galaxy S4 I545 , I can anly connect on 3G and even in the back of the device says s4 verizon 4g lte . When I change the LTE network goes without service. Let alone globally connect on 3G, I wonder if I can enable or install 4G LTE bands . Thank you
The SCH-I545 should have 4G enabled automatically. 4G is already installed on the phone unless it has been messed with (ROM,kernel etc.). Is it possible you are just not in a 4G area or have it on your Sim?
Are you located in the States?
The phone is 4G capable, only in USA. Outside, its only 3G. That is how Verizon did it, locking bands so Verizon users cannot have LTE with other providers like T-Mobile or Sprint or ATT. T-Mobile should work worldwide. For Verizon, you will need to unlock bands.
What country are you in ? Most probably, you need band 3 or band 28 which are deactivated.
I'm from Morocco

Anyone know a method to allow LTE bands?

Nexus 9 lte band enable

I have an international version on the 9 and I was wondering if it's possible to enable any of the US bands. Did some searching and I didn't find anything. I was looking for something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
I don't know if the modem in the US and international version are actually different or if they just artificially disable bands for specific markets. Can't find any info about the actual modem hardware. Thanks.
Get a dialler app from the market like True Dialler. Then dial *#*#4636#*#*, go to phone information, and switch to USA band from the overflow menu on the top-right corner.
Thanks, I thought it would be disabled at a firmware level more than that. I'll give it a shot in a few days and report back.
put my verizon sim in, ran 4636 menu, but I don't see an option to enable the specific bands. Just modes like cdma, gsm and lte. Do I need root or something else?
Are you getting LTE speeds in USA? And is this a permanent solution, even after factory reset?
I'm not aware there is a solution here. Yes my verizon sim is working and yes I get LTE on band 4, but my goal is to be able to use band 13 and I'm not sure that that is unlocked.
I got into that settings page but didnt see any of that menu for usa or whatever... Tablet works fine with my tmobile sim.
might work fine on band 3/4 but what about band 13?

Xiaomi and USA use....?

Hey everyone!
Currently a user of an RR rooted oneplus 3. Love the phone but I keep hearing good things about Xiaomi.
I must admit I'm curious, especially with the Mi Mix 2 coming out. How are Xiaomi phones on US cell networks? I would mainly be using AT & T. I have no problem putting custom roms etc on my phones so that's not an issue.
I just wouldnt want to be stuck with a phone that had bad 4G/LTE support.
Pros and cons of going with a Xiaomi phone vs say the one plus 5, or a true US supported phone like the LG V30 or upcoming pixel XL2 or even the asus zenphone 4 pro?
Curious to see what everyone has to say .

I'm using Redmi note 4 global Version in USA on T-Mobile. You just need to do a little research on what frequency at&t uses. Or what bands they use. For me I'm only getting 1 LTE band supported which is band 4. I get lte everywhere and it's fast. This is what at&t supports 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently. You can use this http://www.china-prices.com/phone/bands/7131/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-64gb to check compatibility with Chinese phones it's pretty accurate. So I just looked it up the global Version of Redmi note 4 you would get 2 LTE bands. Better than what I get. You can research other xiaomi phones as well.

Also switch service to mint sim for $25 a month with unlimited talk text and 10gb of data. Redmi note 4 global Version 3gb around $150 and the 4gb version around $200.
There are some xiaomi phones that support more bands but they do cost more. A unlocked phone in the USA you should be getting at least 3 LTE frequencies support. Like on T-Mobile there are 3 main bands. 2 4 and 12. 12 is for when your inside and it penetrates through buildings. At&t might have the same type of thing with 850mhz. Lower the frequency the farther it can travel.
Feel free to direct message me if you have more questions I've basically researched all available xiaomi phones. I can help you with compatibility
You don't have to worry about bands support, if it doesn't support bands on USA, You can unlock all bands on Mido, 1-41 bands can be unlocked

So basically as long as the soc's modem supports it then there are ways to unlock it. I am unfamiliar with Mido. What is that? I am going to be targeting a Snapdragon 835 phone here in the next month or two. Hopefully we will see on the 11th the mi mix 2 getting that Soc.

I'm not sure about the first line, but here on RN4 it can be unlocked with other version of RN4 who had All bands unlocked
Mido is code name for Redmi Note 4, every devices on Xiaomi have their own code name
I think yes it will be getting 835
I think it will be support for Mi Mix 2 on USA, i know someone who had mi6 basically had same soc, and he can used it in USA
Unlocking bands is not easy at all.. it's possible in theory, but it's extremely complicated and dangerous you can completely brick your phone.
Dont even consider this, i dont know what this guy above is talking about. Maybe he will present us unlocked all bands if this is so easy?

It's easy and it will not brick your phone, only signal loss and you can restore your backup if anything happened (signal loss)
I have the redmi note 4x international with snapdragon soc on cricket (att prepay service). I cant say about the mi max 2 but my device works great with att network. The phone came with the global rom installed and all I had to do was put a sim in it. Network was found, data worked, sms and mms both worked. Have had no issues with the phone on cricket/att.
Just like to follow up with my post. Did some digging and apparently mi mix 2 will be fully capable in the US as the mi mix 2 will ship with a global version that has Google play support. Very cool stuff if this article is to be believed. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...ix-2-was-built-with-the-u-s-audience-in-mind/

Make sure your sim is in Sim slot 1 which is the one that goes farthest inside phone that's the only one that works for LTE.
Looks like your carrier runs off the t mobile network. You have lte band 2 4 and 12. There are also multiple versions of redmi note 4. If you have redmi note 4 global version which runs the snapdragon processor you should be ok and getting LTE on band 4.
Also depending on what area you are in and the cell towers in your area you could be to far from LTE cell towers. Good luck
Go into sim apn settings there should be one already setup called fast t mobile. Because I'm pretty sure your on t mobile network you can select that and get LTE.

A good app from the play store is called LTE discovery it will tell you what band or frequency you are on I posted a couple screen shots on a different phone though running MIUI 8 but should be about the same. Also what plan are you on maybe you have used all your data? Also check with your carrier you might have to supply the IMEI number for them to activate it. Are you able to make calls?
Are you able to use the Sim in a different phone and LTE is fine?
Are you sure your not on redmi note 4x?

Does LTE actually continue to work for you after you make a voice call or when it otherwise switches to something other than LTE?
Because I'm on cricket as well and mine never goes back to LTE once it switches to H+. I've gotta go into preferred network and switch to to Prefer 3G and back to Prefer LTE to make it work again.
I've tried it with an AT&T prepaid sim as well. I've also done a factory reset, tried the nano sim in slot 2 and also in a micro sim adapter in slot 1. All with the same result. I've got good LTE signal on band 4 all over the place which works perfectly when it's connected. But if I make a phone call or walk into the center of home depot where the signal drops for even a second, it will go to H+ and literally never switch back.

oh OK. Im on 8.5.4.0. I should probably try 9, or Lineage soon.
I did actually witness this thing switch from H+ to LTE today, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was out in the middle of nowhere, and the LTE signal showed 1 bar, so apparently the H+ must have been even worse.
Guys H+ is fast too, I think it's like up to like 168mbps. Personally I have no problems with LTE but I prefer to use H+ because it's enough of speed for everything you could think of, obviously the signal is better then 4g and it's easier on battery.
Edit:
Actually it seems like H+ can be even faster then LTE.
