So... i rooted my g925f and ever since, the screen brightness is messed up.
If i tilt the phone in the slightest the brightness flashes constantly from full brightness to low brightness. It does it with auto brightness on and off.
is it a known problem? Is there a fix? Its draining the life out of my battery too.
Cheers

Hi guys and girls,
My S3 has started doing something weird. I noticed the other day my screen was really bright. I have it set on around 60% brightness. So I went into my settings and moved the brightness slider and the screen brightness didn't change. It only changed it I put the brightness up to 100% which is where the phone screen was at even tho it was set to 60% and then sliding it back down to around 60%.
Anyone else have this glitch. Could this be a hardware issue or software? I am on LF2 Firmware from Optus AU.
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried unticking the "Screen power saving" option? that plays with brightness even when you specify it.
Or you could just factory reset. (solves most problems).
Yes that has been unticked and a factory reset has not solved it. It's only done this twice in the last month. Not a common thing was simply curious on other peoples thoughts.
Never happened to me but it's probably not hardware, probably software so just ignore it for now.

Just to be clear my new Galaxy S3 4G on LL5 firmware also has this issue. Simply locking and unlocking fixes the brightness change. Def looks like software.
Hey, my battery life on a newly flashed CM10 is about 3-4 hours on low brighteness and disabled wifi, gps, and bluetooth. I also calibrated battery using the root toolbox app on google play (cant use the BSR for stock ROM). Another thing is that when i select anything but auto brightness the hard key lights stay on no matter what the sensor detects until the next reboot and then they stay off regardless of the sensor. When I use my phone in absolute darkness and the hard key lights are on, i can see a sliver of light bleeding through the borders of my phone and it getts really hot.

You battery life seems similar to what I am experiencing. I have to charge my phone twice daily with Cm10 vs every other day on the stock ROM. However, I do not have any issues with the hard key lights being stuck on all the time on the light bleeding.
My phone does get hotter than it did on the stock ROM, but that may be caused be some other factor.

it is posible but i havent tested at all to see if its safe
I got a prototype mod for increasing the LED brightness, but I'm not going to release it. I think it significantly decreases the LED's lifespan.

ill be testing some more when i can however its very dangerous for me as i wouldent be able to aford a repair or a new z2 for a very long time
@Jackos
i descovered the LED hates voltages being too low, (same goes obviously for too high)' it doesnt dim down but it just doesnt light up
i also descovered the LED gets hot as it is being on for about 1-2mins

I think that overall it's a low quality LED.
Well, if you burn that LED, you can still send your Z2 for a warranty repair

i found i had no problems after lowering brightness, heating is gone totaly but it was less bright, ive lowered brightness in my rom but im going to make the flash for camera alot brighter, perhaps stock or more by a tiny bit
Increasing the brightness of torch can be harmful for the Hardware as it may overheat and cause problems with the Camera.

wont do anything to the camera, it will damage Led light only

they are seperate units with their own information.
the camera app has control of the LED flash, the led flash has its own settings in the system which determines its brightness and voltage.
the camera hardware does not have anything to do with flash aside the flash assisting camera use.

Dude make only 1 thread for your problems. No need for 2.
It's image retention. I have it too but it's not a big deal. It's not permanent.
As for GPS, try rebooting your phone, or if you use a case, try without it, maybe the case is blocking the compass.

You can fix it unless you go get this fixed. if you're still in warranty, try to get it replaced.
Does backlight bleed really annoy you??? it's only visible in the dark at high brightness...

:laugh::laugh: you can try it. image retention can be solved with a blue light filter, light bleeding can only be fixed by replacing the screen. Both are common issues though with IPS LCD screens. (Notebook has it, tablet has it and phone as well)
The only thing I would really be bothered with is GPS. This made me send my G5 to LG and hopefully getting it fixed now.

Yes , BLF does solve omage retention. With that in mind, if you are rooted, use CF.Lumen, it works much better.

I had it pretty bad especially with Google maps. The only thing I can really recommend is using cf lumen and there use a color temperature of 6200k in root mode.
Edit: seen galr's post too late

You can even make the temperature back to 6600k and just change the shade to 0.102, this would solve the image retention permanently, i never had any image retention ever since.
I don't have image retention neither using blue light filter.

I've noticed that since the update to Nougat, sometimes CF.Lumen doesn't work and I need to run the app manually. Have you experienced it?
With blue screen filter from sisco mobile I still get image retention at software buttons.
I have it at 15% black color.
At the top image retention disappeared but a matter bottom no..

Yes i know, it wasnt meant as a permanent solution, which is why i mentioned i have to keep doing it every so often. but it does get rid of it for a few days for me.
