Poor quality when calling - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi. I've a redmi note 3 pro 32g version. I've a big issue when i call or someone call me. The network bar is full, with 5 or 6 bars, but the sound quality is worst. It's like when you have a poor network. I've dificulties to hear and understand the person wich i'm talking with.
Any suggestions ???
Nb: when the network is on 4g it's ok. But when the network pass to 3g the probleme appear.

No suggestions ?

Did you check if the phone you received is legitimate at mi(dot).com/verify?
Sometimes problems like that are hardware problems, usually due to not having the real phone.
All depends if you bought them from the official mi site or from reseller, since some resellers out there
advertise and in the end you find yourself having the knock-off version of the device.
If it is in fact legitimate, try putting your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro on Lite Mode and try making call to see if the sound quality is still bad. If so, then it definitely is a hardware problem, may need require repairs on audio part of the phone. Good luck.

Oukitel K10000 PRO - Reinstall Official Rom Problem

Hello,
I have a problem with the band/network of the k10000 PRO.
So I want to reinstall the ROM (official of Oukitel).
I have installed the driver MTK for windows, FlashTool v5.1724 (I have tried with older version too).
I have downloaded the Oukitel K10000 PRO official ROM.
When I click on upload I have an error STATUS_SEC_DL_FORBIDDEN (0xC0020003) with DA_PL.bin
and STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL (0xC0060003) with MTK AllInOne
I have test with VOL+ pushed but nothing.
Any Idea ?
I am on Windows 7 64 bits.
Thanks
It's good now.
Just NOT check preloder and upload normaly.
But always, I have my network problem (band problem). The phone work only on the 1800 Mhz frequency. Very few time I have network. Only in big city...
I have a crash of com.android.phone when I try to change the band for the MTK processor.
When I type * # * # 4636 # * # * it's work. I can change network but modifications disapear when I come back in the Menu .
If I clic on Phone Information (normal menu to select EURO band) it crash (com.Android.com).
In the youtube videos, this is the menu where they correct the problem.
I think the best way to resolve the problem and know if it's material (physical) or software it's to try the Rom Stock of nougat. But I want to keep the Oukitel ROM.
I know there is one user have exactly the same problem (com.android.phone crash at the the menu).
I have try to disable the automatic time but nothing.
Very disapointed of this new phone.

I have same problem. I dont know what can I do, because Oukital official not answer to my email.

Yes, I have sent a 5th mail today (in china language).
I have found a lot of video of the problem :

I hope they will sent an update quickly....
I received my Oukitel K10000 Pro yesterday and noticed quite soon that the cellular reception is quite bad. It doesn't want to work inside the house at all. Never had reception issues with my previous (actually still current...) LG Nexus 4. I can make phone calls from the balcony but that's about it. Marginally better reception there?
Also the phone makes weird chirping sound during phone calls ~0.5s in the 2-3kHz range, one chirp every 2 minutes?
During the phone call I noticed that If I moved inside where the reception was bad, I could still hear the other person speaking but I was muted. Not familiar enough with GSM technology to say if that's even possible/reasonable
Made comparison of the received signal strength value and both phones show up at
-87...-97dBm asu ~10
UPDATE:
- I haven't touched the Android image at all so its the stock one.
Hello,
Very strange (for the problem of listen someone else). I think it is just a temporally problem. I had this problem occasionnaly but not since some years....
It is very difficult to find someone who have an k10000 pro who works correctly...
Regards.
hello..i have the same problem in greece too......the phone is really amazing......the only thing is the signal reception....when i am in the city is full....when i go outside is nothing....bands are missing from the software or the antena of the phone is problematic ? i see that this is a problem to many of us in europe....people from france, slovenia, albania, slovakia, finland all have the same problem......oukitel should make an update to the firmware adding new bands and then if still dosent work then it will be the faules antena.....but first we have to se if this is a band missing problem.........its a pitty for this amazing phone ......
UPDATE:
I just got my K10000 Pro back from warranty repair. My retailer contacted Oukitel and they suspected it could be a bad antenna cable (they had some bad batch?). So that's what they changed for me and the issue went away. Really happy for my phone now \o/
Hello,
Who is tour reseller ?
Thanks
I bought my Oukitel from e-ville.
PS.
I'd have added a link but the forum didn't allow.
"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
OK thanks. Me on Gearbest. The phone as returned but no news actually.
waiting for new antenna..lets see....
Same issue, opened up the phone. The antenna cable was broken. Sending it back for repair is not an option since it costs way too much. bought from tinydeal lets see how they react to it. Need to find the antenna cable. Could not find it locally.
Made a video when i was opening the phone
If you wanna look at it search for in youtube

Cannot post link i am a new user
Hello,
After 3 weeks in silence, Oukitel send me a message to me with Facebook. It confirm I have a problem of antenna. So now, the problem is known for them.
They want to send me the antenna (free) but I have return the phone to gearbest and I was refunded.
So, it's too late for me.
May be the max or an other brand now...

you are lucky to be able to get a refund, i checked with the shipment from my country it is almost half the price of the phone. My money is at waste. If anyone looking for a phone with antenna issue and can bear the shipping costs i will gladly mail them.
For send it to Asia (From France), it cost 36 euros. Paypal as refunded me 30 (the max). So it cost at the final, 6 euros for me.
If you paid with paypal, you can ask them 30 euros for the shippement.
Regards.
Same problem here too.

Can't make outgoing calls

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I can receive calls, but can't make them. I've tried both wifi and cellular.
The weird thing is I called T-mobile for help and they were saying based on the IMEI I wasn't using a T-mo version and that I should get it unlocked. But it's definitely a T-mobile phone and it was working perfectly fine until today. If it was locked to some other carrier, it wouldn't have been working all this time, right?
Thanks for any help.
Where did you get your Galaxy Note 8? Did you get it from T-Mobile?
If you got it from somewhere like Ebay, then that device maybe flashed for T-Mobile, but actually came from another carrier. Check XDA on how to fix (flash) your device's cellular radio firmware to fully work with T-Mobile (that is if the IMIE number is not locked, due to previous owner's fault, like not fully paying for the Note 8, theft, etc).
If you got this device from T-Mobile, then do a manufacture warranty exchange with T-Mobile. You can request this over a phone call to T-Mobile support. Then they will send the replacement device to a T-Mobile store near you for you to do the exchange.
Always better to get your device from a trustworthy place, like your carrier's store/website/customer support phone call.
When getting a "smartphone" device from places like Ebay, you need to ask yourself why are they doing this. Why are they getting rid of a flagship like the Galaxy Note 8 so early on? If I was going for another flagship right now I would still keep the Note 8 for its unique features. So I would be suspicious of somebody giving rid of this device (Note 8) so early on. Why are they selling it for such low price right now? These are my thoughts on someone selling Note 8 right now (at this point in time) for low price: Good likelihood they messed it up by trying to root/flash ROM/flash carrier modem radio firmware, they don't want to fully pay the device off (so the device is no use to them), or they stolen the device.
Human beings are not dishonest all the time, but it does beg these questions to be asked and answered. Be so very careful in trusting people like this. Personally I wouldn't trust someone in this situation, but that is just me. Remember that they are not doing this because they are amateurs. They are very good in winning your trust.
Just saying!

Thanks for the reply. I bought it from someone on Swappa. He sent me the receipt with it. It was purchased from Samsung.com. The box it came in had the T-mobile logo and everything so it's weird that the IMEI isn't registered with them.
To update my situation, I tried starting in safe mode and was able to make calls so I'm told it's a third party app causing the problem. Not sure which it is since I haven't installed anything new in a while.
First do a "Factory data reset". See if that gets rid of the problem. Hopefully that would get rid the the app that is causing the issue. I just remembered that substratum (including sungstratum - Samsung addon) did weird things like this to my Galaxy Note 8. I had to do a "Factory data reset". Then install all the apps one by one, since both Google and Samsung backups had substratum within it. So I couldn't use either backups. For that reason I stay away from substratum stuff.
It is not abnormal for Samsung direct bought devices to have IMIE number not registered with carrier. Usually not a problem with T-Mobile.
If problem still exists then have the seller contact Samsung to let them know that he gave the device to you. He can say it was a gift to you. Remember to tell him to give your information to Samsung. Once that is done, then you can can get support from Samsung.
Again, if you got the device from T-Mobile this problem would have been solved so much easier and quicker. Next time think about getting the device directly from the carrier.

Multiple Dropped Calls - Galaxy S9 Plus G965F

I love my new S9Plus, but I am getting increasingly frustrated in the number of dropped calls I am having.
It doesn't seem to matter if I have several bars or only one or two - I am dropping calls at least 8 or 9 times a day. Even when I have 4 bars.
TOday at work I had four bars (download speeds of 26MB down on lte) and I dropped two calls while talking to my wife. Problem enough that I dropped the calls but my wife thinks I hung up on her.
I live in the US and am on ATT if that matters. I have used International Variants on my last four phones and never had this call drop problem before. NEVER.
I first wonder if there is something I can do about this? Is this caused by software or hardware in the phone? is there a way to test t his? (it is hard to anticpate when I will drop calls. I have had some calls last over 10 minutes without dropping and other times in the same location - call drop out after 1 minute.
Anyone else having this problem? Your help and input is greatly appreciated.
Am I the only one experiencing dropped calls? Signal Strength seems ok - but while talking calls just drop off - I watched the signal strength meter go away and instead saw a circle with a link thru it - no signal I guess - (I think my call would have dropped had I been on a call) for no apparent reason -
Anyone else having an issue with dropped calls or am I the only one?
I'm also having drop outs on Vodafone UK. Only happens when I've been on the phone for more then 5 mins
I had bad quality in calls, hardly understood what the other person said; changed the sim card, all ok now.
Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
I have the samsung unlocked version and using Verizon on it, have not dropped any calls yet but it seems very static sounding. I love the phone, and only talk to my wife on the phone, everyone else I just text so not a huge issue with me.
To OP, this used to happen to me on S4/S7 when the phone would switch between LTE/WCDMA when suddenly I would get no network with signal disappearing and dropping calls. A new firmware fixed that issue in one case and in other case had to replace the phone itself. Can you try changing to "GSM only" to see if this is related to VOLTE at all or bands changing between LTS<=>WCDMA?
As for the static in call, it could be due to lack of VoLTE support.
I went to the ATT Store and they mentioned that ATT has been doing someting with enhanced calling stuff - said it might effect me - but I am not sure I get enhanced calling because I am not on a branded phone. I went ahead and got a new sim card thinking maybe that might help. Will see what happens over the next few days.
I do appreciate the comments - hope this is not a phone issue
I'm on T-Mobile and I am experiencing it as well, and no it's not the service as my One plus 5t doesn't drop any calls in the same area, same sim, same service. Even the Wifi was weak.
I did a support call with Samsung and they advised me to return it.. I ordered another one to see if that one is any better... I'm hoping... If not that will go back as well.

I just got my s9 with att today and am in the states. I'm having the same issue. I have also noticed it is super delayed in sending images via text as well.
I have the issues on my s9 on Vodafone UK there is also a post in the s9 forums about it
It's seems to be affecting a few people and it seems global
So let's hope a FW update fixes it and that the update come soon ar I will return the handset
First the finger print sensor issues. Now this!
My one week old s9+ gave me trouble with the fingerprint error that got fixed with the update. But now my device is dropping almost every other call. Short or long it doesn't matter. I could make calls with no drops in the same spot using the same sim card on my s7 edge. Heading to Samsung tomorrow. Not quiet happy! Device is unlocked. Bought directly from Samsung and I live in Bahrain.

Returning mine today one thing I expect a phone todo is make calls. Most other things I can wait to be fixed.
Going back to my oneplus 5t which I actually think is a better phone
Unless you are using an AT&T S9+ (or one running AT&T firmware), you will drop calls on AT&T because they won't let your phone use VoLTE and it will try and drop to HSPA , which is being reduced network wise every day.
Getting the phone replaced with a new one.
I was delayed a couple of days because of work but I went to samsung today and they did extensive system tests that did not show anything more than a simple log that says "call drop due to weak network" which is not the case. However, I asked them to manually check it by making calls and keeping in on speaker and 2 out of 3 calls dropped and they got it recorded on camera. Now I'm waiting for my replacement. Hopefully this was a flaw in the first batch or something as my device was one if the first here in the country. Also I almost missed my 15 days replacement time frame. Otherwise they would've fixed it instead. Pheww what a relief. If you are experiencing this issue run to your closest Samsung service center and get it replaced.

Seriously!! What a disappointment after being excited about being one of the first people to own the device. I had 2 serious issues from the day I purchased it. Fingerprint sensor then dropped calls. My replacement device will be ready for pickup on Saturday. If it works perfectly I'm willing to forgive them. If not I'm going to demand my money back ! I did not pay around 1000$ for the device so I can drive to service center 3 times in 13 days and end up using my S7 edge again!

In the UK they offered to allow me to return it for replacement but would take about 20 days to get another handset so I have returned it for refund
I strongly suspect your replacement maybe the same.. I think it's a software issue that will need a FW update
Still I will be getting my cash back have decided to buy a new rifle instead

Call from car Bluetooth interfce unlockes the screen

A week ago or so a got ATT variant of S9+ and spent a lot of time personalizing the phone only to find out at that the phone is affected by a serious glitch.
The screen unlocks when a call is initiated from Bluetooth car interface (with Safe Lock Off). I contacted Samsung customer service. After days of back and forth and after exhausting all remedies including full reset on a brand new phone the result was the same.
I tried the phone with my wife’s car. The same thing. Out curiosity, with help of ATT store manager I also tested her brand new Note 9 in my car. No difference. A call from car Bluetooth unlocks the screen. Plugging headphones in does not.
I returned the phone to ATT store for credit. Is it ATT variant's glitch or all S9+, Note 9 phones are affected?

I realize you returned your phone, but yes when I make a call from the car's touchscreen interface, the S9+ screen unlocks, but it turns off after my one minute delay and the call of course continues. I'm on AT&T also. I can't speak for other carriers but this is probably normal behavior. The S9+ is on Bluetooth 5.0 whereas most car systems are probably on 4.0. It is not 100% backward compatible as many people think. There are long threads on the Samsung forums about connectivity issues. Your auto dealer may have an update for your car's system.

Perhaps I didn't keep the connection live long enough, but my impression was that the phone locked only when I terminated the call. I don't believe that Bluetooth version plays any role here. My BMW 650i has up to date communication software installed. Imagine somebody leaving the phone in the car and the car gets stolen. Whoever has control over the car has access to information on the phone after making a call from the car. From corporate risk management point of view this is not acceptable. Samsung customer support was convinced that the phone is bad and they wanted me to send it for repair. After trying the Note 9 with the same end result, I started to suspect that perhaps the glitch affects ATT variants only. But if this normal, how can they fix it. I tried everything they suggested and at the end returned the phone. I posted my comments on ATT and Samsung websites. They were removed. Nobody tried to contact me.

What phones did you and your wife use before the S9+ that did not unlock the phone at all when you made a call from the car's interface? You might try one of the BMW forums to see what phone other owners are using. No one wants to wait forever for an update that may not come. My only suggestion at this point would be to try a different phone and manufacturer until you find one that works as it should with your car.

I am using HTC 10 and need slightly bigger screen, my wife IPhone. We went through many different cars and phones and had the same problem only once with some earlier HTC model. The outcry was so loud back then, that HTC patched that in a week or so.

Interest in Mate 20 Pro, but concerns (I'm in U.S.)

I see one on Amazon. Doesn't really say who the seller is. But one post by a reviewer about using in U.S. said this:
I bought an International unlocked version. You can use in the USA with either T-Mobile and AT&T.
The only catch is the Huawei IMEI is not a known phone, at least by AT&T, so it only would come up as a vanilla GSM phone, maxing out at 3.5G speeds.
To get it activated at a full 4G LTE phone, you'd want to move a SIM card over from a registered AT&T 4G LTE (modern) phone, then port your number over.
But then it works perfectly well, as good as any official AT&T phone.

So, I"m not sure about the move SIM card over and port number. Seems to me if I pull the SIM from my Note 9, I'd then not need to port a number. Thoughts?
Also, I'm concerned about getting one with the green edge problem. There's no warranty in the U.S. (Seems Huawei should warranty anyway...albeit with the problem of sending it over there).
I use T-Mobile, so can't help directly. I'm pretty sure I just used the same sim card (it was back in November). The prices on Amazon are a lot better now than they were then! Great phone, lack of warranty notwithstanding.
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
I guess my main stumbling block right now is concern that I'd get one with the green screen problem.
I supposed I could fall back to the Mate 20. I understand it doesn't have that problem.

the green screen problem is a bit overexxagerated imo....... it's not like u'll be looking at an empty black screen on minimal brightness all the time. i'm using the BOE screen which doesn't have this issue and i have a colleague who got the problematic LG one and frankly i don't see what the fuss is about. his screen looks better tho in normal usage scenarios
Thanks for that seat and back. Makes me feel a little better should I get one like that.
I'm not surprised to hear that, as that what happens, people like me read about it and then think it's worse than it probably is.
I did just find this video on YouTube which does show the green screen edge and gives you a good feel for what it's like. Definitely doesn't look like something a person would desire to have.
