I've been trying for hours now to get this simple animation to work, I swear I have everything right. I've tried different resolutions, numberings, fps, etc but everytime all I get is ether a black screen till boot is complete or an android boot animation.
would anyone care to take a look and tell me whats wrong? Its only 8 frames long, by 2 folders, could that be it?
dropbox com/s/8eucv0a8j0tu0kj/bootanimation.zip?dl=0
Just add the . back to the link, I cant post links because I'm under 10 posts but without outside links or a way to attach, the best I can get is info I've already read over and over all over the web.
Edit: I guess I should mention that I am rooted and running Cyanogenmod 11 on an LG Optimus G (E973). Root isnt a problem and Cyanogenmod's images for their boot animation are jpgs as well.

Greetings,
I am running an HTC One with CyanogenMod (Android 4.2). I had attempted to create and load a custom boot animation. I was able to pull from the source zip (/system/media), and confirm that I could reload it. I greated jpg's which were the same pixel count as the Cyanogen Animation (I didn't touch the desc.txt at all) and recompressed it (mac user so zip -0r bootanimation.zip). I pushed it back to the same location, and rebooted the phone. I was greeted with the wonderful message saying my bootloader has been tampered with, and then nothing for the rest of the phones boot until the lock screen.
Reloading the original animation zip still works. I have also tried a couple other tested HTC One boot animations, and none have succeeded. I ran the bootanimation command straight from the bin folder, and nothing happens. It just skips to another line, no message, no animation.
I am from the world of windows originally, and am still getting used to the mac/linux structure of things. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure how to troubleshoot this problem further. All googling on the topic has produced solutions for others, but not myself. I understand this is a new piece of hardware, and it just may not be possible yet.
Thank you!
Hello guyz,
I followed the guide form here, after 3 days of struggle finally it generated cm-10.1-20130802-UNOFFICIAL-shooter.zip file in the output directory. And then I flashed it to my evo but it just switching off a few seconds after htc logo.
I have uploaded zipped file which consists of all the files generated in this process, if any person have any idea on how to fix it please help me.
Download from here
Edit: Today I have flashed along with pre-compiled raring-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip, now the device is not switching off but stays at black screen with LEDs on.
should this be here as it's not complete..

I felt same as you while posting this thread, but as porting of ROMs comes under development category I opened up a new thread under development forum. I think any ROM which works or not should be under development forum to get help from devs to get issues fixed.
If any moderator feel that it is inappropriate to post this thread here, please kindly move it to the correct location.
Thank you.
There is no bootanimation for Ubuntu. It boots the splash screen, then it goes to a black screen for awhile on my N7. The black screen is the boot animation screen more or less. And it depends on what build you try. One day it boots, the other day it jumps me back to the multirom screen. I'm sure it would infinitely reboot if I wasn't multirom-ing. I'm dual booting using THIS method, therefor it doesn't wipe everything and I can bounce back to a more stable android. Ubuntu will be kick ass when it hits hard. I can already see a bunch of benefits.
If we wait for more time does it display any UI? What might preventing the device from successful boot? Did it ever made to its desktop?
BTW thank you for your link, I'll try to dual-boot along with android.

Not sure for this phone, try it? The N7 booted up. My phones hanging on to it's last breath, I'm not gonna push it anymore then I have too. Ubuntu runs off the normal android kernel, not an Ubuntu version. So I'd say kernel would have a lot to do with it working or not. The .img files they have are bootloaders, so that may be an issue. Although the ubuntu boot img isn't needed, the android one works. The version I got to work was the "saucy" July 27th or 28th build, haven't tried anything after that. That specified dual boot only works for some Nexus devices. Can't remember how long it took to boot, I'd assume as long as any normal initial boot of a rom. I would go to another forum where it has been ported, and ask/read hard there. Good luck.
I have a Nexus 6. I just flashed Nougat. I used the factory file and used ADB/fastboot. Everything went fine but I did notice the load screen at the beginning never changed. It's still the old Marshmallow load screen the one with the color dots swirling around....not the load screen I saw in all the YouTube videos I watched. Am I missing something.? Should this be considered an issue? How would I go about fixing this.?
Also on a side note...I downloaded the factory image file off of Google's site and notice that the flash-all.bat file was never there. It only showed up as flash-all. Is that normal?
Thank you.
It is normal, if you want the new boot animation you can find it online and apply it with root.
Does your device say Nougat in Settings > About?
Yes it does say Nougat. OK thank you...it just seemed weired that all the YouTube videos I watched on how to flash a factory image showed the new boot animation as standard. So I thought it was standard and came with the update. So when I didn't see it when it loaded, I thought I had done something wrong. Thanks
Maybe the patching process didn't update the boot animation for you. Maybe other people in those videos wiped their devices first.
I currently have a LG G3 Stylus running cm12 (5.1.1) rooted. I played around with the GeneUX rom for a while. After a while I decided to try something else, so I downloaded CM 12. My phone has always booted up by first displaying a carrier/ brand logo and then a boot animation. I made sure to wipe everything except for my internal memory and sd card when I installed the new ROM. But even though I am currently running CM 12, my phone starts up by displaying a GeneUX5 logo and then whatever boot animation I decide to pick from "Boot Animation for SuperUSER". I need help in order to remove, change, or disable the logo thing left behind from the last rom.

HI all,
Did anyone figure out a way to apply a customer boot animation since we can't simply go an change the bootanimation.zip file and so far all magisk modules i tried simply don't work.
Unless you have a fairly short animation, by the time it thinks of getting moving you've already booted into the home screen. In the past I created a couple of custom boot animations. I stopped using them when I chose to use rooted stock firmware instead of custom ROMs. As a result I haven't searched for a long time for a replacement boot animation: not that I need to given I still have my boot animations stored on a HDD.
it is a short one well kinda, wanted to put the nokia handshake as the bootanimation for fun but couldn't figure out how to actually do it due to android 13 read only limitations and i think the modules i tried didn't work due to the pixel now having a dynamic animation not quite sure, seems like its not worth it anymore
