Hi guys,
so I've tried for about 2 months to get by but the mandatory upgrade to lollipop from kitkat is a joke,
the biggest problem right now is the cpu is draining the battery while it sleeps. Tried lots of things like turning location services off, Wi-Fi, battery saver etc.
I don't know what to try next and feel just throwing this once perfect tablet in the bin.
Kitkat was far superior, working perfectly, and after seeing just how awful lollipop is, interface included, I just want Kitkat back.
Is there any way to get the ROM or root the Hudl 2. The tablet is becoming useless once working perfectly always crashing and lasting day.... At this rate. it will burn out it's own CPU.

Just a word on my own experience regarding the upgrading of my Nexus 10.
Actually I have two because one was stolen and then returned to me - but after I replaced it.
Both of my tablets with 4.4 installed have been great. They did everything I wanted without any problem. Why did I bother to upgrade to Lolipop? Well because I love gadgets and the latest technology.
As soon as I went to 5.0, there was a huge deterioration in the quality of the wireless connection. I had my other non-upgraded Nexus to compare with and it was clear that there was a big speed difference, connection difficulties, and sometime wireless dropouts.
I was very pleased when 5.01 was released because I had read that this owuld fix the wireless problems.
It didn't. Exactly the same problems. No improvement at all - and I had my 4.4 tablet to compare with.
Last weekend, I finally found the time to revert to 4.4 using the WugFresh Nexus toolkit.
Absolutely brilliantly easy to do. Took about 20 minutes and I was restored to 4.4.
There has been an immediate improvement in the performance of the tablet so far as wireless connectivity is concerned. It's like night and day.
Frankly, I'm puzzled as to what benefits there are from a Lolipop upgrade. It's certainly not the next big thing, by any stroke of the imagination.
I understand that 5.02 will be released in sometime this month. I suppose that I will try it out but generally I would advise people to stay with 4.4. It is a well developed mature OS. Is there a need to change?
The upgrade quality is quite hit and miss by what I'm reading. Both my Oneplus one and Nexus 10 run a custom build of 5.0.1 and I haven't encountered any problems that are being reported everywhere. I wish with tech troubleshooting there was a "one size fits all" solution but that's utopian thinking. I've upgraded and am finding the tweaks in the functionality quite useful, but the main reason for the upgrade has been the looks. You could try a custom ROM based on 5.0.2 seeing that you're familiar with the rooting toolkit anyways

I sideloaded 5.0 via Wugfresh shortly after it came out and then reverted to 4.4 two days later.I had no special problems aside from the unavailability of Xposed framework, which is a deal-breaker for me. I have 4.4 set up the way I like it (including many "Lollipop" UI elements) and didn't find anything in 5.x that would justify giving that up.

Thanks for this. I just want a standard rom - rooted. Improved looks would be nice but if it means sacrificing connectivity then I'll stick with 4.4.
I have to say that while I had 5.01 installed, I did get the impression that it was really just about looks.
I found the double entry screen - swipe to reveal pin screen - and then pin code to access - very lumpy and unnecessary.
I suppose that I will try 5.02 when it arrives but I'll be quick to revert if there is any deterioration in existing 4.4 functionality.
I expect that 5.XX is really just intended to work correctly the new 64bit gen of devices
It sure is a mystery why there are such a variety of experiences switching to lollipop. Mine has been all positive, and the improvement in smoothness alone was worth it. In KK there was such a jitter or stutter that was most noticeable when scrolling through screens or app drawer. It's either gone or barely there at times. Which makes sense, there were supposed performance improvements in 5.0.
If you're unsure about upgrading don't assume your experience will be like anyone else's. It's worth it if your N10 likes the taste of lollipops better than kit kats. You can always make a nandroid backup before trying.
I too reverted to 4.4: WiFi issues on lollipop are a deal breaker, and being able to use xposed (pie controls plus a few minor tweaks) on 4.4 is a nice plus.

I had these same issues tried everything to sort the slow WiFi and the constant drop outs ,just by chance I changed the channel on the router and bingo! It cured all the issues I was having so something worth trying before giving up on lollipop.
I was hoping that 5.02 would fix the WiFi problems - it didn't. My tablet is downgrading to 4.4.4
Saw too many negative comments, and didn't want to lose xposed modules. Never upgraded!

Same issues for me. A few times a day I get dropouts, then authentication problem on my WiFi, but after a reboot it connects without any hicks. Worst update ever. I'm also thinking of going back to 4.4.4.
I have both Nexus 5 and Nexus 10. Been installed CM-Nightly build regularly. Only Nexus 10 experienced wifi issues. Just like mentioned here from different members, dropouts and authentication errors. Toggle wifi on/off will have it up awhile.
I live with this problems since 5.01 out. With now 5.1 on horizon, I hope we will have this issue fixed. Otherwise, I am going back to 4.4 in Nexus 10.

Hi. I currently own Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 for more than a year and I thought its good time to change phone. As you can see, Im a person who buys budget phones. I was searching for my next budget phone and Motorola Moto E LTE got my attention. I couldnt find a better deal than this, so I thought before making a final decision I will ask some opinions from people who got this phone. So, what do you think of Moto E and can you recommend it? What are biggest disadvantages and hows the performance? I already know that lack of flashlight is big hit for me.
Well it's a hard question. On stock 5.0.2 (there is still no update in eu) performance is preatty bad. Sometimes it runs smooth but there are cases when it lags horrible. I don't know who even installed chrome on this phone: it is cleary unusable however I instaled lighting browser and it works fine.
I've bought this phone because I tought that it will be my first smartphone which will be runing fine out of the box without modifications and I'm disapionted now :/ There is update in US and it probably fixes some of performance issues but when it will be available in eu? We still don't know.
Of course there is some good things like:
- of course price
- build quality
- very fast gps
- decent screen for it's price
- great battery life (up to 7h of screen on time)
- almost clean android
- decent speaker
- sd card slot and enabled android's app to sd
- up to date cpu (bigger chance that it will get android m)
- lte
- big data partion (we get 5gb out of 8gb so I think that's good)
- good light sensor
- and I very like it's look (but it's my own preference)
and what is bad now:
- performance on 5.0.2
- there is no e-compas! (my xperia x8 had compas in 2010)
- no notification led (this is very annoying since moto display is too sensitive and ambient display works randomly)
- fornt camera (back one is decent but sometimes it can't focus well)
- lack of camera flash
- updates aren't so fast (at least in eu)
- miracast isn't working (because of only 2,4 ghz wifi)
- moto features aren't working well on 5.0.2, for exaple twist to turn on camera isn't working properly (after twist I feel the vibration but screen isn't turning on)
So would I buy it again?? I don't know, it's performance is really discapointing right now. I compared it to moto g on 4.4.4 (which should be slower because of 720p screen and slower cpu) and it was like day and night. G was way faster.
Thats a bummer. I thought it was very good for basic usage like messages and browser. I heard Android 5.0 had memory leaks, but from what youre saying performance is really bad here. Is it fixed in 5.1?
well for basic usage it can make a job, I discabled all moto services that you can discable in settings, installed nova launcher, lighting browser and it's somehow working. When it starts lags I clean my recent apps and it helps.
The phone is preatty good but it was relased in bad time, in days of probably the worst android relase, lollipop looks cool but it can't be as fast as kitkat :/
howerer when I compared it to my other firend's moto g on stock 5.0.2 they were running simmilar and he told me that he hasn't got issues with it (but he often clear recent apps so maybe thats the reason)
I belive that 5.1.1 will fix all the issues, we have to wait.
I would appreciate other people opinions.

when i purchased it i dint have much expectations considering its cheap.but then as i am using it for over 2 months now ,i dont feel it as a cheap phone.it never hanged on me..not even once.though i have disabled quite a lot of stuff but thats fine...this is first phone i am running without rooting in last 5 years.and surprisingly i am not feeling need to .My battery lasts beyond 3 days and it runs fast enuf in comparison to my past phones which i had to root to make them usable(samsung s3 , s advance etc)
i wud say go fr it..5.1 update is sure to improve it further
When I first bought my moto e (xt1526) a few months back, at first it sucked. I wanted my ZTE max back. Everything was laggy. Even after the 5.1 update. So, I rooted and tinkered with roms that our great XDA developers have been working very hard on, until I found one that was somewhat solid. It ended up being a soak test 5.1 rom. It made the phone snappy and overall great. The only issue is my mic drops out on my bluetooth sometimes. Overall it is a great phone to me for its price.

Well, I think it cant be worse than my current Galaxy Ace 2.
I have been loving my Red Nexus 5... The weight, the look and the Google's smooth Android OS experience. However, since I updated my OS from KitKat to Lollipop early this year, my Nexus 5 drains out the battery in almost 6 hours daily even without using it often. I thought Android 5.1 would somehow help fix this issue. However, it didn't. So now I have to keep my phone connected to USB all the time so it could stay alive at night when I hang out with my friends.
I love how customizable and user-friendly Android system is. But the performance of battery really need to be improved and optimized if you want to keep your users. Both hardware and software need improvement in Android eco-system. I hope Android M and whatever Google phone will come out could offer a better solution.
Any suggestion on how to make my Nexus 5 battery live longer besides turning off cellular data and location service if not needed? :crying: Thanks!
Hey guys! I've been using LG G3 VS985 on 4.4.4 for quite a long time and i didn't like stock rom at all. I am considering to flash custom rom but i don't know which one to choose as i am new to this custom rom stuff.Here's a list of what i want in a custom rom:-
1-It should be stable because i want to use it on my daily driver
2-Performance is my main concern.Stock rom was choppy in animations
3-Battery Life
4-Camera should be usable as i've heard you've to compromise camera for nice custom rom.OR just suggest an alternative camera app.
I wanted to flash CAF AOSP[6.0.1] but the reviews were not good as it had number of issues. Also i am OK with older version of androids.Don't want the Android N.
Why not just stay with stock but update to 6.0 ? I've kept mine stock for over 2 years (taking the OTAs as they come). AFAIK an update to 7 is not availabe yet, and given the age of the phone it may never be.
To address your points:
1. It's STABLE. I can't remember the last time I had to reboot.
2. Performance is fine to me. Granted I don't do any gaming (that's what tablets are for!), but I haven't run into any issues with streaming video, email, photos, or reading.
3. Battery life is so-so, and always has been. I haven't really measured it because I have a wireless charging back. When I come home or to the office, I just place the phone on the Qi pad. A collateral benefit is that I always remember where the phone is!
4. Get Open Camera from the Play store. It lets you set things like ISO, color balance, focus type, scene mode, etc. Works fine with the G3 on 6.0
The only real problem I've had is that the battery died after about 18 months (same thing happened to my wife's G3). That may well be a result of heat generated by the wireless charging, but since the battery on the G3 is replaceable, the fix was a $20 battery from LG.
I don't particularly like the stock interface, but Nova Launcher took care of that.

As for why I'm looking. Magisk framework and MagiskSU can't modify the stock ROM boot.img and verify even when bumped. For why that matters, no netflix now or very soon if rooted. Custom ROM can use a script to bump the boot.img after flashing seSuperUser and avoid the SafetyNet DRM checks.

Ok, but the OP didn't say he needed to be rooted. In fact, since the G3 is my "daily driver', I prefer to keep it stock unrooted (with Nova /launcher to take the rough edges off the LG UI.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against rooting per se; I have three tablets (Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Samsung S2 8.0) that are all rooted. Unlike the G3, however, they are not "mission critical" for me. When I break something (and believe mei, I have! ) I can afford to take the time to figure out a fix.
Been an owner of SGP 621 for almost 4 years now. Device still runs good though battery has been noticeably not as good already. I just want your thoughts about your preference if whether you use stock or custom rom as daily driver. Your thoughts about the battery life and smoothness of either and the pros and cons you found out. Are you planning to change tablets soon?
I had it for some years now, still like it. Looked around to see what options are out there, but the Android market for tablet are not very big unfortunately. I'm not very fond of huge TV sized phones (always used compact versions), so a tablet is nice to have to. I bought a Lenovo Tab4 for my mom, and actually like it when I was configuring it. Maybe it will be the next one when my Xperia Tab's life runs out.
Don't think I have noticed any huge drop on battery life, recharge it a couple of times a week at most. Think I get a fair amount of hours from it, bit hard to tell depending how I use it. But for most times I get about 2-4 days. I have used a couple of custom roms on it, but had some trouble with the WiFi connection just dropped on those, so I'm on the latest firmware (rooted and debloated 6.0 which feels a bit old, but works). Maybe I'll try another round with some roms in a while.
Do you feel laggy using it as stock right now? Are you attracted to upgrade to ipad mini?
Always modded stock! I've just tried AICP Oreo on my Z3TC and hated it so just about to reflash 291. Custom ROMs generally have issues which tend to frustrate.
I am running AICP, 9.0 Pie. Really great and smooth ROM, even better with a custom launcher. Would never go back to stock again. It's amazing how well our old Z3 Tablets run Pie.
