Where to start... - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi guys. Just got confirmation that the 32/4 GB model I ordered has been dispatched so hoping to receive it in a week or two. Will need to get it up and running ASAP when it arrives, because my daughter is itching to get her hands on my current phone to replace her broken one, but as this is my first LeTV/LeEco phone, and my first Chinese grey import phone, I am a little confused about where to start to get it set up as I need. I am not sure if it is coming factory sealed with the Chinese stock firmware, or with a reseller installed ROM, but since the reseller said it is "preinstalled" I'm guessing factory stock. I have read through many of the threads on these XDA pages for the device, but as there are various ROMS and various stock SKUs it is a bit overwhelming. Hope you guys can give me your opinions.
How I am hoping to get the phone set up is as follows: at least basic Google functionality (Play Store, Calendar Sync, Contacts Sync), as little visible Chinese language as possible (preferably none), no active bloat (I definitely don't want to see the LeEco TV and video crap). Stability and decent battery life are more important to me than trying to get a more vanilla android experience, so I am thinking a stock ROM or stock-based ROM are better for me than trying Resurrection or CM (at least at first).
I am wondering if I should (a) stay with the stock Chinese firmware, try to install basic google apps and root/debloat it myself, or (b) flash the stock Indian firmware and root/debloat it myself, or (c) flash one of the debloated stock based ROMS. And if I go for option (c), I am not really sure whether to go for TeamSpain or Cuoco. What are their relative merits or demerits?
Hope some of you guys who already have this phone can give me your recommendations. Thanks!
P.S. My native language is English and I do not require any other languages (as long as I can install Google Japanese keyboard)

I've had mine for two weeks.
1. Download all the updates (latest 17s)
2. You can then choose between US or UK English.
3. Play store is pre-installed so download all the apps you prefer, like mail, browser, calender etc. and in App management go to Default apps at the bottom and then make your choice.
4. Remove the Le TV screen on the left of the home screen by long press it and click on the eye on the top and Le TV will dissappear next time.
5. To remove the Live button on the home screen you have to download a Launcher, I have the Nova launcher (Prime) and with the Prime version I can hide all the bloatware apps.
6. The Leeco bloatware is very resource friendly and
doesn't use upp any battery for what I can notice and with a launcher like nova there is no need to potentially ruin your phone already because Leeco will probably provide a couple more updates.
Any questions feel free to ask

@Barnis78 has already mentioned the most important things.
i for one use it with the Standard Rom Chinese 17s and Google Stock Launcher. And i Love it.
I don't remove Bloatware cause as Barnis mentioned it's no Problem at all, and you've got the Advantage that you get all the ota updates..

Thanks guys, that's really good stuff to know. I have Nova Prime too, so if the bloat is not impacting on device resources I may just do as you guys and go stock.

@Barnis78 do contacts sync properly with Google?

It did not with 16s, it turned out that the Google account settings didn't have the Contact option so I downloaded the Google contact sync 6.0.1 apk and restarted the phone and it worked. You will have 17s version
when the phone is updated so check when the Google account is setup if you have Contacts sync in the settings.
One more thing, if your calls disconnects after 2-3 minutes, go to the Dual Sim & mobile network settings and turn of VoLTE HD calls.

Phone calls, they did disconnected after 2-3 minutes when talking to people. I didn't know what the reason was at first but the reason was the 'Volte HD call' setting. You have to phone a person who also have the same setting, the carrier also has to support it of course.

Sorry mate, I was just joking - you know, phone calls, nobody makes phone calls anymore.
Actually, I do hardly make or receive any calls nowadays. But your info is good to know anyway. Thanks.

I'm thinking it might be better to flash the latest official Indian firmware, rather than the Chinese. I gather the Indian one has Google play services already built-in. Is it a simple process to flash that one? And is there any disadvantage to using the Indian firmware over the Chinese?

I'm also interested in the same, wether Chinese or Indian is the better deal regarding Stock firmware?

I'm running stock and the latest Chinese 19s, there isn't a single issue up until now. I had to recalibrate the fingerprint though. The battery life is very good, I charge once every 24 hours, I get like 6 hour more compared to the 17s version.

How do you update to the 19s? Do you have to do it via TWRP, or you can simply change the rom file to update.zip and then update from the file manager? Thanks

Was using Cuoco92 latest 17S based, but flashed stock 19S last night. It's a lot more effort to get it set up - get google stuff installed and working properly, root, debloat etc. But once it is done it seems to be working well. Latest xposed v86 works, fingerprint sensor works well, they fixed the theme selector bug (though I use Google Now launcher, so that isn't really relevant to me). Not sure about battery yet, but 17S was ok so if it is the same I'll be happy.

I'm running original, no root so with this update you download and place the file in the root directory in the internal memory, (no subfolders) I downloaded direct to my phone so I had to cut the file from Download directory and place it direct in the internal memory, the phone won't find the file otherwise. Then you have to rename the file to update.zip. Then go to System Update in settings and do a Local update, the phone will find the file automatically. Just leave the phone when it's updating, it will take several minutes.

I am also running 17s stock chinese firmware. I have Nova launcher and everything seems to be working fine. my carrier does not support VoLte so I have it disabled.
I am holding off on the 19s until its deemed stable by Leeco and add it to their OTA update. I dont want to beta test it

19S, with root and xposed, gravity box, and the leaked Pixel launcher is very stable and useable. Very pleased with it.

Started having a lot of problems with play store yesterday, both on Chinese 19S and 17S-based Cuoco92. In the end I decided it was too much hassle and just installed the Indian 16S. It gets lower Antutu scores and you have no control over the Dolby Atmos settings (as far as I can find) but otherwise it's stable and smooth and has a lot less bloat than the Chinese firmware. Overall, it's probably a better option I reckon.

Battery drain issue at X2_X820-OS-OP-FGXOSOP5801607292S firmware Indian firmware.
For some reason my phone pretty much discharges 30% itself in about 12 hours while idle. WiFi is off, GPS is off, Bluetooth is off, Sync is off, all opened programs are closed. On LE_X2_X820-CN-FN-FEXCNFN5801607221S-5.8.016S or 17 firmware battery is good

Hi,
I can confirm that the Phone as delivered is free from bloatware for the most part (if doesn't sit around in the background) , The Chinese EUI factory rom 5.8.015s (mine has had zero problems) Is incredible fast My first run Anatutu was 145,725 and the EUI system menu style while not AOSP like it more than effective. Just install Google now and you are good to go.
I had a minor problem with finger prints but once I calibrated the sensor and used a better finger, Its funny how over time certain fingers are worn, lol.
I was going to root mine and Rom it but once I got my Max 2 I have been too busy snapping photos, videos, making calls to even bother !
I am looking forward to maybe android 7 from LeEco, which I'm sure they are working on, Again taking nothing away from the developer guys here.
If you want to be your daily driver I would leave it alone for now unless you want to.
cheers

[Q] A bit of a strange phone question

I have searched on phone issues and even messagebank... There was a post that seemed similar but not the same.
Unfortunately I can't say just where this issue came in; I only noticed it yesterday and, as mentioned in another thread, I have been trying out ROM flashing. My GUESS would be it has to do with flashing 'modem_CWM_I9300XXDLH7' but that is purely a guess because it is call related.
I have flashed a stock ROM, GT-I9300_XSA_1_20120710170916_9xjds9h0pm to install an Aussie ROM (phone from Kogan and was German model) and more recently flashed 'Kernel_CM10_20120820_Official_CWM' in preparation for trying a JB ROM. (I am planning on using 'I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean_4.1.1_Clean_Stock_Rom_Nandroid_Backup' for a first try)
SO, phone seems to be working well; I managed to crash it (stuck on Samsung screen) but have backups that brought me back up to where I was without too many issues.
But, I noticed yesterday I got a Telstra Messagebank notification for a missed call/voice message. It says it came from +101 but when I click the notification it takes me to a Telstra recording saying the number is not connected. This used to work. Dialling 101 works just fine and I have looked to try to locate where the phone has decided MB is now +101 but can't find it.
It's not a biggie, and I figure maybe I need to call Telstra to get their info resent or something, but it is a little annoying to have to dial each time instead of just press the notification.
Any ideas of what to try? I'm about to flash the JB ROM so if that fixes it I will be back (hopefully without dramas ) soon. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
XXBLH4 is a really old JB leak, flash XXDLH8 instead (DLH9 is newer but has a keyboard bug)
As for your problem, I don't know what to tell you but your carrier won't be able to help you as you have unofficial firmware on your phone and that may be the reason and they will only be able to assist you in regards to the official Telstra fw.
Is it really that big of a deal to dial 101?

that is a strange one. It seems as though it's trying to dial 101 as an international call (with that plus in front of it making it a call to USA number 01), when it should have picked it up as +61 101.
Out of curiosity, what does it come up with when you tap and hold on the SMS and go to "View Message Details"?
@nodstuff - The reason for I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean was because, a. I found it and the file date was something like 25/8/12, and because the description said it has been cleaned up and all bloatware removed. I don't recall seeing XXDLH8 for download but I am new here... I was thinking along the lines of getting something known and stable for my first JB flash.
@Dinty - I don't get a 'View Message' option on a long tap, I get a menu with, Call +101, Send Msg, Edit numbr, Add to Contacts, Send Nmbr, Add to Reject list, Delete.
Further info just noticed - older call from MB (30/8 - prior to new Modem flash) came in as Int'l M'Bank with #101# so somewhere the MB number has altered.
I doubt Telstra will have an issue with the FW etc. It isn't their phone. I bought outright and would be speaking to a rep - IIRC when I got my Moto Defy from the dealer a couple of years back they had to send me a txt which I saved and it set up the Telstra info on the phone. Might be mistaken in memory of that though...
@nodstuff - do you have a recommendation for a XXDLH8 ROM to flash? I'm looking for stable with some optimisation and as clean of standard apps as possible. I've got an Apps backup in Titanium Pro that I figure I can use to put my new apps back.
Also, is the Keybd issue with LH9 itself or just with some ROM's?
thanks for the help...

Well don't flash XXBLH4 so, its very buggy and not stable.
XXDLH8 is very stable and pretty bug free.
There are a few downloads for it (cwm flashable, Odin or an ota package. I suggest cwm or Odin method as the ota method is quite tricky.)

I believe you're talking about the automatic set-up service. I think this is what you mean:
http://www.configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/index.jsp
Not sure it will have any effect on that messagebank issue, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try!

Thanks for the link - that looks what I originally had to do over the phone, but then I didn't have a Telstra account set up at that point.Didn't work unfortunately. le sigh!
So, I am now the owner of a JellyBean phone, all working nicely and with my apps installed again. All went smoothly and I just chose my purchased and download apps from my titanium backup and Voila!!!
I took the advice and installed GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXDLH8.V3.0.RC4.NO-WIPE - I thought about the DLH9 version of it but saw a note in the thread about keybd issues, so, taking the advice above I DL'd the DLH8 version.
Only thing I have noticed so far is it seems a bit slow on the USB charging. Once it's at 100% I will disconnect and see if maybe power is draining too fast, then look at ways to improve battery.
Just did some trials of the MB issue and noticed something odd - if I try to create a Contact I am unable to enter numbers in the name field. I also tried to set up my mobile banking and using the app provided by the bank I cannot use numbers for my ID, even though it is an 8 number ID. The Keybd simply will not change to numbers until I go to the PW line - is this the keybd error you mentioned as being present in DLH9, nodstuff??
Hm... so I took a chance and flashed Wanamlite's keybd fix; the thread says it is for DLH9 but I figured what the heck, if it fails the phone I can easily reflash the ROM.
Seems to have worked. Gonna leave a comment over there about it because I seem to have noticed something not mentioned by others.

Use in English from U.S. on T-Mobile's 4G LTE?

I got this phone as gift. It was purchased in China, but I live and use it in the U.S. using English. Does anyone have any experience doing that?
I was able to get English versions of Yahoo, Skype and Facebook and am limping along with a Chinese Firefox installed, but I still have a numerous software problems:
1) Even in English mode, there are keys still in Chinese and almost all pre-installed Apps are still in Chinese (I can't even get it to "'auto-detect'" other than China time or show the temp in other than Celsius!?!) 2) I'm unable to download Google Play App. 3) Searches via the Chinese Firefox acts like I'm searching from China. I often have to explicitly search for / enter an URL to get what I want. 3) The specs here (at gsmarena.com) says it has a Radio and I see a "Radio" App listed, but I don't see an Icon for it (even in the Folders). 4) I haven't hooked it up to a cell plan yet, but I've read indications (and perhaps they're not for this exact model) that it will only work U.S. 4G or even 3G vs. 4G LTE. I'm Hoping to use it with T-Mobile 4G. It's got great specs, and I believe it costs ~$120 U.S. new, so even as a camera, mobile e-mailer, WiFi Browser, Facebook'er and 3G phone, it's a great deal. Appreciate any help or ideas to get help.

Sounds like you're having issues similar to what I had. Never fear! I am in almost the exact same situation.
I got mine from GearBest last September shortly after it came out because it was such a good deal for the hardware you get. However, I knew ahead of time, and I'm sorry to tell you, that it will not work with T-mobile's 4G LTE. It will, however, work with T-Mobile's HSPA+ (I think it's still considered 3G but it's also sorta better than 3G? Every cell provider uses the same names to refer to totally different technologies, so it's all very confusing.). HSPA+ is more than enough for me; you can still stream 1080p video without buffering as long as you've got a good signal. Maybe web pages won't load instantaneously, but whatever.
My main issue right off the bat was that there was some preinstalled app absolutely draining my battery. The phone was hot most of the time and died by mid afternoon with limited usage. So I needed to fix it.
I'm inferring from your request that you haven't yet tried to root the device. This is the main way I know of to fix your problems. It will allow you to install any of the custom ROMs people share on this site as well as manage preinstalled apps and utilize other apps on the play store that require a rooted device to work.
Disclaimer: Google around and visit other guides for custom ROM installation before you follow this. I may have missed something as I'm typing this up mostly from memory. Your milage may vary, and it's important to make absolutely sure that you know what you're doing so as to avoid bricking your phone.
Basically, all you need to do is:
0. Make sure you have an SD card. I don't know if it's a necessity or not, but it's useful for keeping data like music, backups, and other ROMs stored where the data doesn't need to get wiped every time you install a new ROM.
1. Find the ROM you want to use. I am currently using MoKee by Bule because I've been having battery troubles with virtually every other ROM for some unknown reason. I'd also recommend the official Xiaomi.eu international ROM if you want to continue using MIUI, or Daniel's CM 12.1. Put the downloaded zip onto your SD card. If you don't have an SD card, you'll have to find another guide to help.
3. If necessary, visit openGapps to download the google apps you need to access the play store. Some ROMs come with it, some don't. The ROM's page should tell you. Put it next to the ROM on your phone.
2. Follow this guide to install the MiFlash tool (which you won't necessarily use) which will install all the drivers you need to flash TWRP. You don't necessarily need SuperSU (I don't have it installed), especially if you don't want to mess around with a lot of apps that require a rooted device. Every ROM I've used has some form of built-in root management (though I'm by no means a professional with this stuff).
3. Boot into recovery as suggested in the guide. Go to wipe, advanced wipe and select everything except for Micro SDCard. Swipe to Wipe.
4. Go back to home, install, select storage, Micro SDCard, and find wherever you put the zip of the ROM you downloaded. Select it and Swipe to confirm Flash.
5. If necessary, repeat for the google apps zip.
6. It should take a minute or two to install. Clear cache/dalvik cache if it gives you that option and then reboot the device.
YAY, you should have a clean, functional device free from most Chinese bloatware although this depends on which ROM you install. Some are still Chinese by default but should have readily accessible English options upon startup. Sometimes you need to reboot after selecting English and finishing the startup in order for a few of the Chinese characters to switch to English for some reason. If the default keyboard is still wacky, do your best to make your way to the play store and install google keyboard or whatever other option you desire.
Hope this works!

real(!) clean eui?

hi there,
checking the posts it came to me that while most of the EUI roms claim to be "no live button" and/or "no chinese apps" that is usually not the case. the live button isnt really gone it was changed to another app (eg google) or that in the same cases or different roms the chinese apps are still there, the chinese tv screens are still there while the author claimed something different.
Is there a really clean EUI rom out there for the le max 2?

I have the stock ROM, just switched to third party launcher such as Nova, and I've never seen the Live button and Chinese apps again. The Chinese apps are still there but the phone has sufficient memory so the performance is never compromised.
I am rocking Mokke and Nova launcher right now, but I am a fool for those Miui or Eui asia style interfaces. So I just wondered, I can use another launcher of course, but why should I do that if a native solution was available.
So I take it no dev really got that deep into business to finally remove the live-button for real, apart from those on a totally different non-stock rom (like Mokee).

This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/s18-s19-remix-eui-russa-china-t3470677/page2 is the only one I've come across so far where they managed to actually completely get rid of the middle Live button, rather than just replacing it with Google or Contacts. I actually really like the eui launcher with just the four dock icons lining up in a nice grid with the rest. Shame there's nit a slightly more up to date version. I'd like Indian 19s with this no Live launcher.
I have tested almost any cleansed EUI available yet. There is no real clean version. Removing the live button is child's play as you need to install another launcher like Nova and delete the live launcher manually. But this is not the real problem.
Even if the Live Button is gone: there are tons of Chinese apps running in the back or apps that can't be uninstalled.
All of the EUI stock apps require access to almost everything on your phone, which makes me mad. There is no point in doing that and I wonder what they are trying to do with these information.
I don't wanna sound paranoid but unless I have a guarantee that suspicious unremoved apps are not gathering any personal data, I will not use or recommend any stock EUI rom as 'clean'.
If someone manages to get rid of ALL leeco related apps on EUI I will reconsider.
In the meantime I use Mokee or the Team Spain CM13.

Hi forum!
I have a good ol' galaxy tab 10.1. And it's horrible. Super slow, Chrome won't run, constant "unfortunately ___ has stopped", for some reason Hangouts keeps attempting to run and stops. It's pretty close to unusable. Is it possible to save it?
I'm a newb (I've rooted and installed custom roms in the past, but nothing in the last 3 years or so, so I'm pretty much back to start).
Details:
Android version 4.2.2.
kernel 3.1.10-cyanogenmod
AOKP p4wifi_unofficial_Mar-16-13
The reason I haven't bought a new one is because I use it so infrequently. I've got the S7 and it does just about everything I need, but every once in awhile it would be nicer to have a bigger screen. So I don't really want to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a new tablet if I can salvage this one for the rare occasion I use it. The reason I dragged it out this time was to edit a video, so it would be nice if I could do that (powerdirector doesn't support this version). Beyond that it would probably just be a movie player for road trips with the kid... Or if anyone has any other suggestions what to do with it, I'm open!
Any help is greatly appreciated! I'd hate to see it go!
No, never let go I've got 7.1.1 Nougat running well with the latest update. A bit laggy but not too much, and stable so far.
The trick is it will autoupdate to an incompatible version of Google Play services (and some other gapps) - unless you take the right steps as shown in this thread (check the first 2 posts and the last few pages of posts).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350
NB The gapps recommended in the orig post wouldn't flash for me. I used open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20170119.zip
from
https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releases/tag/20170119
Once you stop autoupdates in Play Store and roll back to the last compatible versions of some major google apps, it runs great for most ordinary purposes. My Sygic app is working properly again too.
Sure it's a bit of work and it was a bit confusing for me working out how to get the right version of Google Play services installed, but I found it very rewarding and worthwhile. There's a couple more of its nine lives yet imo. Was a great choice of tablet.
(I can't speak for hangouts though; I don't use it.)

Well that's annoying - I subscribed to the thread but it never told me that someone was kind enough to reply!!
Well here's an update in case you're curious: I've bricked it. I tried to flash it back to stock and now it's stuck in a bootloop *sigh*
So, if I can ever get it out of that state I'll give your suggestions a try. Thanks so much for posting!
Holy crap I saved it! But it's runnig Android 3.2 LOL
So I'm going to see about getting JellyBam on there, it looks to be pretty stable.
I've just been trying to decide what to do with mine,
I have ASOP 5.1.1 but always get 'Google Play Services has stopped' so want to find a version that I can just put on and leave it on without having to do anythign too technical
Did you try the link that rubbercorners posted?
I'll take a look

Did you end up giving up on it? I updated to a newer version of Nougat (same link I linked above) and it seems to have solved the Google Play Services crashing error. But you still need to use older versions of some apps, and Google Maps doesn't seem to work properly any more (I use Sygic navigation).
It also has some kind of 'Neon emulation' which slows down some apps.
Realistically, with this tablet, you have to be prepared to use workarounds for a bunch of things and for most people it's too much of a hassle, and very laggy with things like Google Now/Assistant or whatever it's called. I doubt you could use it for video editing, and youtube works at 480p max I think.
Having said that, I have it running well for what I use it for - Sygic navigation, occasional browsing, gmail etc. And I think it would run 720p movies okay if already downloaded (I haven't tried Netflix etc.)
I doubt running older ROMs like JellyBam would have any advantage over the latest Nougat (I could be wrong?). Surprisingly, Marshmallow and Nougat run less laggy than the older ROMs ever did for me (including the official ones).
I went with Jellybam but get an error with the keyboard AOSP so can't type anything at all
Now Google Play Services started crashing again. I will try to solve it again, but I might be getting to the point of just using this tablet for Sygic offline navigation.
*slaps myself for losing faith in my tablet*
The developer fixed Nougat again and it's working pretty pretty nicely for me (no Google Play Services crash). Remains to be seen whether anyone will try to get Oreo running on it (or if it's even possible), but I can see myself getting another year out of this ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350
If anyone tries it, note:
- read the first few posts of the thread carefully
- install using TWRP 2.8.7.0 if it fails using TWRP 3
- turn off autoupdates (see thread).
- if you have problems with Google Play Services crashing (it updated itself to 11.5.17 and is running fine for me), try to find a way to install one of the earlier versions recommended there - maybe install the earlier gapps (P7500-open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20170119.zip) and roll back/uninstall Google Play Services to the stock one if it autoupdates.
- there's an unfixable hardware bug where sometimes the battery drains with the power off. The workaround is to always shut down the tablet by rebooting into TWRP recovery and power off there. (This bug has apparently always been in this tablet, but it shows up more in later Android versions.)
- if tablet doesn't power up, hold the power button down for about 10 seconds
- I rooted using the phh SuperUser option (2 steps to this). Some people seem to be having trouble with the Magisk option.
seriously? ive had absolutely no issues with mine! I use it as a puzzle/game/ebook/reddit browser/ video player... nothing intensive and its a t-580 running 6.0.1 (Ultra Lean MM V6). Everything works (everything ive ever tried including magisk and xposed)...

[Custom ROM] Elephone S8 Firmware 20180621_AEROM_v1

Hi
you can find it on Elephone Forum
https://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=14242&extra=page=1&mobile=2
based on Android 7.1.1.
Changes (after stock firmware 20171018):
- Optimized proximity sensor
- Optimized camera (recommendation: in Camera settings set to Allow manual exposition, and set exposition to -1 or -2, the camera will work faster)
- Optimized power consumption and battery life
- Optimized stability
- Solved heating problem while simple apps used
- Some other bugs fixed.
Wow, nice ! I'll try this asap I hope this is better than Eragon
Is there any way to root it ? I'm not sure it's the same way than with official rom, is it ?
how do i boot into recovery? i accidentally wiped my phone and then reset it before installing the new rom and now i cant get past the elephone logo when it first boots . i need to get to recovery to restore my backup.

I think it would be helpful that you make a new topic, too. Because all I know is that you can't get into recovery without a system .... maybe adb and fastboot!?
This ROM brings even more bugs.
According to users on the official Elephone site the ROM is not recommended.
https://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?m...&extra=page=1&ordertype=2&page=2#.WzaSXtIzaM8
I flashed it a few hours ago. When you load the scatter file with flashtool be careful that 'userdata' is NOT checked or all your apps and data will be lost.
After flashing the new rom I flashed twrp recovery with flashtool and then booted into recovery with 'adb reboot recovery'. There I installed supersu.zip for root access.
The new rom does not make a real difference at first sight. I will try it a few days to find out about battery and performance.
What I already found out:
-more bloatware
-no live wallpapers supported
Does anyone have an idea how to install the live wallpaper abilty to the system?
I have installed the rom for almost a week now, this is what i found so far:
-memory management diferences are negligible if any
- audio sync in certain apps have not changed
-camera app is a old version of google camera and it is buggy, but can be easely fixed by a 3rd party camera app
- performace seens a lot better with a inscrease of score in antutu from 78k to 90k and it does fell a lot better to use
-the new bloat is just google stuf and dolby atmos which does somewhat work as intended
-the old bloat like mtk logger is not present
-no further bugs found yet
Can waste time trying out rubbish. If they can't do OTA then they can shave that update up their a#s.

I think, same as stock/Eragon https://forum.xda-developers.com/el...p-recovery-twrp-recovery-elephone-s8-t3705742
I'm using the 'new' rom for 2 and a half weeks now and today I flash back the original firmware. Here is what I found out on my S8:
postive:
- battery life and charging time have actually improved (that's it for positive...)
negative:
- Live wallpapers don't work. I did not find a way to solve this.
- No real improvement on the camera, focus is still slow. They use a different app now but sadly the front light is not supported anymore.
- Problems with changing networks got even worse. On the old rom I had problems when changing between mobile data and wifi, now even changing between wifi networks does not work properly
- Wifi speed is very low sometimes. The only way to solve this is a complete reboot.
- I did not notice any improvement in performance and temperature, so I cannot tell whether this is good or not.
- Bloatware like some google apps, a few apps called something like lawnchair, unknown file explorer and music apps
If this is the update we are waiting for since half a year, it is very disappointing. In my opinion they got it even worse and there is no reason to flash it.

Dude, all your "solutions" is just showing off how toxic trash you are. Learn some common human decency, grow a brain (brain cells first), I heard these are popular nowadays
