Marshmallow UPDATE - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to update my z2 to Marshmallow but there's no OTA yet. My possible option is to flash MM based FTF to it. I was wondering will it affect the signal of my device; My z2 is locked to a carrier.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and providing me an option or steps on what to do.

can I flash a different customized rom carrier in my xperia m4, or will it lock it?

Hi, my m4 is now working with 26.1.A.2.167 / R16A "Jazztel ES", and I wanted to know if there would be any problem flashing 26.1.A.3.111 / R12A "3 AT". Phone is not rooted. Will this lock the phone or brick it or something?
I'm kind of noob in this, but I managed to download that firmware from xperiafirm and to bundle it and to flash CyanogenMod roms in my old xperia V, but I was having second thoughts abouth flashing it because of this carrier thing and I wanted to ask first.
Thank you!
Sure you can flash it. Be sure not to flash simlock.ta too.

Will Marshmallow lock the bootloader on my T-Mobile S5?

Sorry if these are dumb questions... I have searched unsuccessfully for answers here and I am new to the forums and to Android... not sure where to ask this...
I just bought a new (unsold stock) T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T) phone and activated it on the T-Mobile network. The phone came with G900TUVU1ANE6 (4.4.2) from the factory. After only a few hours of operation T-Mobile has pushed an unnamed update to the phone which I assume is G900TUVU1GPE1 (6.0.1) Marshmallow. I have postponed installation of the update but don't know how long I can postpone it or if I can prevent its installation.
Will installing Marshmallow cause my S5's bootloader to become locked? I ask because I found this on Wikipedia (link not allowed) "As of Marshmallow, the Android Compatibility Definition Document contains new security mandates for devices, dictating that those that are capable of accessing encrypted data without affecting performance must enable Secure boot and device encryption by default".
Or is my G900T's bootloader already locked? I ask because I found this at root my galaxy dot net (link not allowed) "If your device’s bootloader is locked then you will get the update via OTA. [...] If your device is rooted or bootloader is unlocked then you have to manually Flash / Install Official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware On T-Mobile Galaxy S5 using Odin Flash tool".
The second question worries me more. I bought a T-Mobile S5 because so many sources claim the G900T bootloaders are unlocked. Now I'm unsure. Is there an easy way to determine if my bootloader is locked or unlocked? (I have Heimdall available on a Linux laptop but no windows machine).
I hope to install CM10 or CM13 on my S5. Thanks in advance for any definite information or guidance anyone can provide.
I'm thinking about buying an S5 and am wondering this as well.

After installing the latest firmware, you can still flash custom ROMs, you can still root, etc.
Just look in the Android Development sub-forum, and you will see several custom ROMs for MM on the SM-900T.
You can also flash ROMs from the International S5 forum. I've never flash a CM ROM, but there are several on this forum that have and do.

G900T T-Mobile's bootloader is not locked. I've downgraded from MM to KK without problems. I flashed RR MM without problems
No brother . I mean if I need to root s5 T-Mobile than shall I downgrade it first or I can easily do it on marshmallow.
Can u tell me any authentic root process!
Thanks

It's exactly the same process on MM as it is on LP or KK.
I rooted my G900T about two weeks ago. It had MM the latest patches and everything, so you don't need to worry about the bootloader ever being locked.
marshmallow to Lollipop?

Hi! is your smartphone really a G900T?
IF it is so... It is pretty sure you download a firmware and it is incomplete.
Where do you download from?
Which version is it?
it is a G900T, I downloaded stock Lollipop 5.1.1 from T mobile

SGP641 - LTE - Currently on 23.4.A.1.232 - How to update to MM?

Hi guys, just came into owning this tablet, all stock OTAs were applied (there was like 5 updates lol), and now its on 23.4.A.1.232
This is an LTE device, made for Optus in AU.
No idea if they will every release MM for this through the carrier, and I dont really want to wait.
Can someone give me a run down on what is required? I've been away from sonys for a number of years, so am a little rusty...
thanks in advance for any assistance.

Flashing FTF from SGP521 to SGP561?

Hi guys,
I have been reading forum couple days and still don't have clear understanding of situation with firmware for Z2 tablet.
I have Z2 SGP561 (locked to Verizon) and stuck with 4.4.2 (no root) and want to upgrade it to 5.1 or 6.0.1 + root
There is very good article that describes how to flash ANY firmware build for ANY Sony Xperia device
http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/03/12/install-xperia-marshmallow-using-flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/
But it doesn't describe what will happen with device if I flash firmware from another model.
Can anyone explain - will I brick my SGP561 if I flash it using FTF for SGP521 (Network: GLOBAL-LTE, Version: 23.5.A.1.291 / R3D)
for example from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/general/ftf-vmo-ru-ua-kz-t3433098/
What will be result? Device will loose radio module? or loose some radio bands?
or FTF doesn't touch radio and I will latest available android with no issues?
Thanks.
It should not flash as your SGP561 is a Verizon only Model. I have the SGP521 that is the unlocked world model. Verizon likes to lock down devices and I don't know if that model has the bands for other phone carriers. (The firmware for the SGP521 is going to change the band menu to look for this) you may no longer get a signal and the 521 has phone calling support that I know Verizon blocks. I would search the forums to see if a update for Verizon is around as it is never a good idea to try and mix device firmware.

You can help get Nougat OTA update to lot of people!!!

Hi, guys!
To all who runs AT&T M9 Firmware Locked to AT&T.
A lot of people can't run Nougat, bacause AT&T didn't want to share update signature key outside AT&T network. If you are not in US, you can't get Nougat update.
Does anyone have activated AT&T sim? Just flash your M9 by latest MM firmware. But before Make backup of your data, phone became clean!!!
What to do:
1. Flash file: 0PJAIMG_HIMA_UL_M60_SENSE70_ATT_MR_Cingular_US_3.38.502.41.zip
2. Use method 2 to grab OTA download link as shown here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...75&postcount=2
3. Post here result to share with others
Thanks for help!

Can you give me a quick tutorial? my phone is:
s-on
Unlocked
firmware: 2.11.502.21
If you have AT&T card, just use OTA update. I don't know all things how to update from Lollipop. Plase read Readme thread.
Anyone found the OTA url yet? I restored to stock, but it says no update available. RUU isn't an option since you can't go from 3.x to 4.x.
