So for about 6 months my phone worked fine in all ways. Then I broke the screen and had it replaced (for more than I could have sold the phone for...). Then a few months ago (about 9 months after buying) my regular call microphone stopped working. Oh well. I could still call on speakerphone because I guess it used a different microphone. Except now that microphone is dead too. My phone is now a small tablet incapable of calling.
Different roms, clean flashes, stock, aosp, etc. Nothing changed it. I think it's a hardware issue.
Now that I got my screen replaced is there any chance that LG will fix it for me if I can make it appear stock, or will they know and demand I pay some ridiculous price to get it back? At this point I guess I might as well send it in and try because my only other option is to use an old phone or maybe waste half of my net worth on an unlocked M8. Still, I'd like to have some input on what you all would do.

Or you could have a go at replacing both microphones its not to tricky there are many tutorials on you tube.
I'm being forced to use a moto x until I get another upgrade. This phone has slowly degraded into barely being useful as every phone I've ever had has. HTC is the only android brand left for me to try. I hope the m9 is amazing.

The phone itself is fine. Willing to bet something went wrong during the time either:
When the screen was damaged or
During the repair process.
That's probably what LG is going to say if you try to ask them to repair damage they're not responsible for.
I would replace the Mic and speaker as Melt1down suggested and go from there.
The phone is not fine. Every phone I've ever had has had this problem. It slowly gets worse and worse and nothing changes it. And I didn't drop my phone, so don't assume things you don't know.
I ended up talking to a phone tester that works for LG here in San Diego. She's from South Korea, she deals directly with corporate in Seoul and translates for them. I told her my V10 is a glitchy freakhouse and that it was all her fault.
She said they know that a certain percentage of the phones are defective with overheating, GPS failure and other issues. She didnt tell me what percentage though so not sure how wide reaching this is. I realize that missing fact makes this a little less valuable info but I thought it was interesting enough to share.
No product is perfect. I've dodge most of the issues I see here in the forum, only heating issue I had was trying the set up a email with Exchange server.
Like you said a number would be interesting. Did she indicate it was a hardware or software issue?

She didnt and wouldnt know and I'll tell you why. She explained their process. The testers just sit in an office and play with the phones, they dont use them in their daily lives. Then they send all issues to LG R&D who are supposed to diagnose and fix the issues.
Maybe they have other people doing more in-depth desting, I dont know but she is a contract employee of LG.

I'm not sure what your intention is here but if we dont bring things like this to light then we're not doing anything to help all the people who are getting bad GPS, dead pixels, etc. that is screwing up their daily lives and causing a ton of hassle. I'm not an activist but I'm also not going to completely ignore it when this phone got me all excited, cost me $700 and then turned out to screw up my week and waste a bunch of my time.

Yup, I agree. I'm going to return the one I have today or tomorrow. I want this phone to work so bad. I might try a new one, one more time.
Yea, not sure if its true but I have read in many forums how phones don't work properly out of the box and most were fixed by doing a reset on the phone. The first V10 I had was great except for WiFi. I get over 100 Mbps at home and every device gets the same speed. However, the V10 was reaching 10 Mbps...after the reset it worked great and speed was up. I did end up exchanging for a new one (just to make sure I had a good phone, why I got to do a reset to fix a new phone) and the new V10 is great, out of the box. I get GPS lock quick, great WiFi and no lag.

Since english is not my primary language I will do an extraordinary effort to do this...I've passed for 4 V10's already. I was waiting by 9.00am October the 30th to get this wonderful device LG announced that hit every single check mark that I always wanted in a smartphone. My first impressions should've sufficed cause the first one they brought was scratched out of the box, yes, the metal bands were scratched, so obviously I asked for another and that one was ok at least on he outside.
After less than a month I started to notice some weird behavior when displaying some content with the brightness maxed to 100%...dead pixels everywhere( I made a post). I exchanged that unit to and to make the story short I am with my 4th V10(counting the scratched one) and this one has "only" one dead pixel(or an array cause I don't think we can spot one pixel on this devices with our bare eyes) with no other issues so am keeping it fighting my OCD every time I think about it. I don't want to call T-Mo again and put another exchange request cause I know it will come with dead pixels and/or other more problematic issues.
LG quality control is a joke, at this price point dead pixels policy should be 0.

Same here.
I have around 8 dead pixels on my phone, and my phone has guaranty but after contacting with guaranty they said only can repair and replace my phone lcd with another one.
SHAME ON YOU LG ???
I only see people complaining about phones bought from USA operators/stores, none bought on Amazon or other countries, I wonder
I bought my v10 on launch from vzw. No issues since day 1. Everything is spot on including the fingerprint sensor.

I suspect most of the "complaints" are propaganda from the competition
For complaints. Try a different brand if your not happy with LG. Make both you and LG happy, and move on.
I have had my V10 since December (from T-Mobile). Initially no problems to report, but the image retention issue has become progressively worse (as I type this, the image of this site is being temporarily "burned in"), and the GPS has only recently been failing to connect for navigation. my father also got a V10 the same day, but does not report these issues. User activity may be leading to a faster declining lifespan of phone, but both phones have had a drastic increase in overheating since receiving the Marshmallow update, which may be playing a role in the even greater descent into decomposition.
I've been a big fan of LG phones for years, but the V10 may not be able to keep up with the demand (I'm 19, so like most millennials, I use my phone constantly-possibly why I have this issue)
So my LG V10 has been perfect from day one. Now lets assume that every post on this thread is factual.
Then all we can do is say sorry it was you that got the bad phone, if you add all the posts here it's still less the half a percent bad phones, that's a pretty good number.
Hello.
I have questions for current users of P9000. I do not have this phone. I can buy new P9000 for 180 USD. What you think? It is good idea? Chinese phones are always good "on paper" but always have bugged stock roms. We have any stable rom for P9000 for daily use without pain in ass? If you had to choose, would you buy it a second time?
Please help me decide.
Regards
I bought it but I am not hapy with it.
Camera from the biginning was not well, and now stopped at all by itself. I did not drop or do something just in one day it stopped to launch.
Edge of display came of from the body. Battery drain is good if you don't use 3G.
If you want good phone search among Xiaomi , Meizu or ZTE.
For me "ZTE nubia z11 Mini" is good.
Definitely not. Gps, fast charge and camera are not good enough. Android pay does not work..buy one plus 3
Its is a good phone , interesting phone, but google pay not working, when it is working its is a great phone....

I think its all about expectations. For me after rooting and flashing Eragon ROM I am happy with what I paid for. Don't expect Samsung/Apple standards for its camera its really bad compared to those. I dont use google/android pay so that doesn't bug me.
For that price I don't think you can get anything better.
I'm not sure what Google pay is but there is no problem buying apps with the phone.
GPS is not perfect but usable, same with the camera.
Battery time is very good at least for me. Twice I have left the phone fully charge at 10 pm and att 5 am I have 100% & 99%. This is with wifi and sync on. When I hade 99% there was a Titanium Backup of all user apps 200+ in the middle of the night.
Fast charge I don't know anything about, I charge the phone during night so that would not be an issue.
I have Eragon ROM on the phone.
The physical device itself is pretty solid but the stock software, as of present, is similar to that of an early beta build.
I'd advise you don't take the leap as I believe Elephone shouldn't be encouraged for releasing an incomplete phone.
I would not buy again. External SD doesn't work at all. Had to factory reset after update to get fingerprints back. Spontaneous reboots & alarms unreliable since last OTA update. I'd spend more money and get OnePlus 3 or used OnePlus 2.

External SD works just fine. Fingerprints dissapearing after an update of software is a known issue but a very minor inconvenience - all you have to do is add them back again. Which software version are you currently on?
20160810
I knew about the fingerprint issue but misread something from the release notes that caused me to think it had been fixed. It's not that they go missing, it's that they remain used but unrecoverable, so I went for a few weeks with only one fingerprint. No biggie.
My SD Card has never, ever worked. It's as though it's not even there. SIM works fine in that slot though.
In general I find the phone is not quite stable enough that I would recommend it to anyone else to buy, but it's not quite unstable enough that I sent it back, although I might have done if I'd had a decent spare.
Sent from my P9000 using Tapatalk
On paper it sounds good but too many bugs for me to use as a my daily driver so sent back to Amazon. GPS not great, fingerprint unlock not reliable. Unable to send or receive text without rebooting occasionally which was the biggie for me.
You get what you pay for, all phones have problems at one time or another no phone is perfect, GPS after lock works fine, finger print a bit slow but never had a problem as such, Camera isn't the problem it's the software use a different app and it's not that bad and I still have an Xperia Z1 so i can compare, Android Pay i live in the UK all bank card are contactless why fiddle about with a phone when it easier to just pull out your bank card the number of time i've stood behind some one trying to pay for something with their IPhone is mind numbing, you can make calls you can send texts you can receive calls and texts, if you have a higher budget then try something else if not this phone is as good or as bad as any.

I suspected exactly that, Carl.
I am considering this phone, too. Most of my friends have Apple and Samsung high ends (that what's absolutely dominates the market here in Singapore), some of them are already on the 3. device while I still have my 2 yo crappy beaten-up Zenfone 5 ... it's as well not without flaws but surprisingly solid. I'm 100% off the high end stuff. The time we payed high end money and really got something feelably and visably better is long over. Yep, more money buys me better, but now it's not always, and not 3 - 4 times better.
I just bought this phone through an Amazon Warehouse Deal, but I am quite worried now. There are so many issues being reported and I don't want to have a nightmare. Is this just an old batch? Is there a new batch that fixed these problems? Are these problems happening to new LG g5s as well?

I've had my H850 since May last year (so also an old batch) and have absolutely no issues with it. I think it just seems like everybody has problems because generally people that don't have any won't post saying "I have no issues!"
It's a great phone - just check it out right when you get it and test everything you can before unlocking it. That way if you do happen to have one of the troubled devices you can still return it and get it replaced

Should have done your homework first.
Hi all,
im thinking about an upgrade to my g4 and now i try to do my homework as our fellow colleague above said. is it worth it? is there a better alternative in the lg g5 price range? camera, battery wise and so on? ill try to look at the known issues and get an idea but also would like some opinions from owners. Thanks all!

Considering the camera, I believe there is no better alternative at this price range. If the camera is not a concern for you, I suggest a Moto G5 for much better battery.
As the owner of two G5s, my first one the screen tore in half (white snow issue like G4) and never fixed itself, my second the screen started ghosting so bad from the previous frame that when going from a white to black application, you could see the entire previous frames. Coworker of mine also had his G5 break on him and he upgraded to the G6. Seems like there are a lot of quality control issues.
I've had an H820 since the beginning of March this year. I decided to buy it despite all the complaints as I am not a heavy user: no gaming, no movie streaming, no FB live broadcasts, etc. Additionally, I do not plan to swap out the battery with any regularity nor use the camera module. It appears to me that many of the problems associated with this phone (and many othersfor that matter) track back to users who are on their phone all the time, i.e. encountering high battery discharge rates. The modular battery may have a design problem, but if it is not removed--or very carefully so--its moot. So far I have not had a problem with the GPS; I've had better, but it's certainly usable. The screen is very difficult to read in the bright sun, but then, which ones aren't? Battery life is acceptable; again, if you are a gamer maybe not.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that LG made some manufacturing changes to address some of these problems in later production runs, but I cannot prove or disprove that.
It has quite a bit of bloatware and is not rootable with no prospect of being so in the near future. I have disabled almost all of the packaged apps, but the last time I looked whatever was left and or still using memory was occupying a fair amount of system memory. I don't have a great number of apps.
My prior phone was an LG G2. It's now in my wife's hands and still working reliably; she FB's a bit, but no movies or games. The GPS could be better, but that's not a deal breaker. It is no secret that the battery life is better than the G5.
Hi to all,
Waiting the LG V30 come to my country and buy it, I see on Reddit that they are people who post that lens crack suddenly without falling! Why? The phone with 900$ have suddenly lens crack without falling for a third time. Why is this happening?
If this continues then better buy iPhone 8 Plus or Note 8...

NEVER buy an iPhone.
If true, why not just return it under warranty for a replacement?
Third time?
Have any links to this or real proof? I'm very skeptical of most "fail" rumors.

Yes my friend, I will post all links here. I think this is because they don't have a good case.
1. https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv30/comments/7ctacj/spontaneous_camera_lens_crack/

This was an early worry on the V20 but besides the first report or two, I never remember seeing it come up over at the V20 forum again. Jerry Rig was able to make it crack with pressure but it didn't happen with the V30 in their destruct test for it. I don't want to jinx myself but the glass on my V20 is still perfect but it has also been in a case since day one. Same for the V30, case since day one. But I'm also a photographer and always conscious of my lens. Call it muzzle discipline for cameras.
Frankly, that damage photo from the first link you posted does not look like spontaneous glass breakage to me. That looks like it has been impacted.

just please watch this video and tell me what you think:

I have a plan to buy a phone in Dubai or Germany, because in my country they wont sell V30, but how buy it now when this phone have this problem and I don't have official LG service in my country :'(

I watched about 5 seconds of that video and just couldn't watch it anymore. Why in the heck does he have those awful sunglasses on indoors? What is he hiding? Why does he have the most hideous music in the background. There's better free music out there. And why does his video have to be almost 15 minutes long? I'm not watching 15 minutes of that.
Ok, I made to about 5 minutes in and give up. All I can say is that A) I've never had an issue with my V20 despite that having been an issue with early units (I have an early unit of both the V20 and V30) and knock on wood that I'm not jinxing myself with my V30.
B) If you search anything, and I mean anything, you will find many examples of anything in the world. The days of the Googlewhack are long gone. The question is what percent are having this issue. This phone has been out how long and no one on this actual board has reported this issue. Right now all we have are a couple of reddit threads with one being highly suspect.
It's safe to say if your searches for such a problem turn up nothing to the point that you have to query a device forum as to whether anybody is having such a problem, then there is no problem.
One persons' problem can be greatly magnified -- 100x or 1000x, who knows -- and if it's happened to him three times, then we can all infer the problem isn't with the phone.
I Remember this was a worry of the Nexus 6p. With the glass visor cracking. I had my Nexus 6p on launch day. Never had a problem with the glass visor. Even after replacing the battery, which you have to remove the visor to do. I'm not worrying about my V30 doing this.

this issue has happened for quite a few lg phones (including the g6, v30, v20, etc) and the issue is excluded from warranty replacement. even though the issue isn't from the user, they count it as user damage.
if you look at the crack pattern, it looks more like stress cracking than impact or external pressure.
the way the glass cracks is very consistent, even between phone models, and the majority of the cases i've seen occur without any knowledge of the cause. (the guy in the video had a beefy case that kept the lens away from surfaces, and the phone hasn't been dropped).
if you google camera lens breaking on an lg phone model, you will see quite a few cases, and none of them are covered under warranty.
i think in the v30 it is like $85 to replace it, and you will have to have a backup phone in the meantime.
there have been a couple threads on reddit showing a bunch of them cracked in a similar way, with no other visible damage on most of the phones.
i hope it doesn't happen to me. i don't have time to deal with that bull****, especially if it isn't covered under warranty.
I like the V30 and this is just scared me. How I say they are no LG Official service here, and im planing to buy from other country.
I have one my friend and he is in Dubai now, and I see rhe LG V30 128GB model V300S. Do you know something about this model V300S?
And I think it is unlocked, so will this phone network work worldwide ? Im living in Montenegro, And in Dubai will be very good discount price then in EU. So will this phone (gsm, 3g, 4g) work im my country?
Thx a lot for your answers

Are you sure that Dubai, UAE gets only the LG V30+ (plus is 128 GB)? Is it something like LG V300S (might be single SIM) or LG V300SU (might br dual SIM) ? As for root or unlocked bootloader like the LG G6 or most LG flagships is the single SIM international version (LG H870) and the (LG US997).
As for the LG V30 it's the same for unlocked bootloader i.e (LG H930) & (LG US998). I don't think other variants will be unlocked.
If LG G6 is sold in Dubai it LG (H870S) that is not bootloader unlocked , i'm not sure if there's a LG H930(S) in the LG V30. Did you mean a LG V300K instead of S?

I wear sunglasses in my videos sometimes because I have Graves Disease. Something I've never even needed to explain until now. So kudos to you.
The video is 15 minutes because it takes some time to explain what happened, the background on my purchase, as well as the results of my contact with LG.
Cant fault you for hating the music. I listen to metal but tried to choose something accessible and not commonly used.
If you took the time to read the comments on my video you'd see many people reporting this as very much a real problem.

Hi to all,
Waiting the LG V30 come to my country and buy it, I see on Reddit that they are people who post that lens crack suddenly without falling! Why? The phone with 900$ have suddenly lens crack without falling for a third time. Why is this happening?
If this continues then better buy iPhone 8 Plus or Note 8...

if you look at the crack pattern, it looks more like stress cracking than impact or external pressure.
the way the glass cracks is very consistent, even between phone models, and the majority of the cases i've seen occur without any knowledge of the cause. (the guy in the video had a beefy case that kept the lens away from surfaces, and the phone hasn't been dropped).

From the v20 lens breaks that i've seen they were mostly impact. Gunshot like. Including the spontaneous ones where the user swears nothing happened prior to the crack
What i surmise happens is, since the lens is tempered glass, its strong but if damaged will remain damaged without showing it. So if it gets impacted you check, hmm, nothing you forget about it. But the lens is compromised now and over time will give way sometime in the future and appear spontaneous
i hope it doesn't happen to me. i don't have time to deal with that bull****, especially if it isn't covered under warranty.

Isn't covered by warranty and the worst time to have it crack is within six months from launch. Service centres charge a lot that is if they even have the components to fix. One v20 user i know ordered the parts of aliexpress couple of months after. he did have a habit of dropping the phone though. he figured in the end what happened was it fell between the bed and night table and must have got knocked somehow
My 1-month old LG V30 phone is having the same Camera Lens crack issue.
I think this is a design flaw, we should start a class action law suit

i think that you might be going too far.
but, first of all it is NOT the lens that cracks, but the camera glass COVER ...
i came here because i was courious how the lens cracks having OIS.
the replacement glass is very cheap and not that hard to install
it can even crack because of differences in temperature, or bending in pocket and applying pressure on the edge of the glass cover. there are SO many reasons which could cause this BESIDE dropping the entire phone.
it could crack if you use it without case and putting it on a table because the camera is above the back cover.
literally it cannot break if you put your phone on a stand and leave it there, watching it and waiting for the camea glass cover to break and that's why my money are on bending in your pocket
